In my experiance the average mordrem goes down faster if you have a condi build like for bleed, poison or fire.
and yes having condi gear helps you kill mordrem faster than clasic zerk build.
Why?
Because those bleeds, poison or fire keep ticking away even when you’re busy dodging their attacks.
Mordrem don’t stand around and wait for you to kill them.

Suggestion: Add the player’s Mastery level to the guild member list UI sort options.

Currently, in the guild members list, ya can sort for all kinds of things.
Level is one of those things.
But when you have a guild full of lvl 80’s. thats not very telling of a players skill or how far they are in terms of story or game content.
With the new Mastery system, ya can see when you meet a player if they have Heart of Thorns’s mastery system unlocked and how far they are in it.
Now i’d love 2 boxes with a tally of Tyria and HoT mastery numbers. but that is probably to complicated.
But Surely getting the guild UI to tell players total Mastery points would be a nice thing to add to the next feature update in say a year from now?

Good news, bad news.

Good news: with the sampling of people of all races and genders who’re experiencing this problem, we’ve ruled out the dialog not working for one or two of these combinations.

Bad news: It seems there’s something more sinister at work here. I’ll throw up a flare and see if I can get some coding support to look deeper into this.

Small dev note: We care greatly about your play experience and we are working as quickly as we can to get all of you unstuck. I’ve noticed one thing.

Couldn’t talk to Acan after doing path with Defending the Itzel Village.
Could talk to Acan after doing path with Following Tizlak and pwning Mordrem outside of the Village.

i’d like to make note, when i was bugged i had completed Defending Itzel Village.
Though the last update did fix my problem. however i don’t know if it was because of a diff map that just happened to not be bugged or because of the bug fix.

Today I, with the help of the medium-sized RP guild I’m a member of, managed to claim the guild hall and was overwhelmed with the number of choices we had to make it our own with furniture and design our own rooms as a result. Adore that, in fact it’s one of the only times a game has exceeded my hype.

BUT there is a crucial element missing!

Why are there no beds? Asuran sized beds, human sized beds, double beds, norn beds! Why can’t we make bedrooms with actual beds!?

It’s a very minor gripe but people being able to directly claim a room as their own is really gratifying for a guild. Plus, with my guild (The Ashen chapter) being a Vigil guild, we’d really like to have large barracks for the 40 or so troops we need to house. I’d love to see this added as soon as possible or to know if it’s something in the works already!

And I agree we need beds!
our Guild The Splinter warband is preparing our own assault for a guild hall. But once we have it, we’ll need a medic ward for our soldiers. And ya just can’t use the floor for that.
But in an emergancy I guess we could use tables with rugs on them.
Still i hope those beds will get added soon.

So for the Feed the ghost achievement. You need to feed him 1000 candy corn.
But when i first fed him, i didn’t have 1000. So i fed him 200, thinking i’ll just give the rest later when i have it.

But now the npc is missing. And no there wasn’t a game update that messed it up. he;s simply vanished. But i’d really like to complete that achievement.

1: No, because you need to be able to get there to participate.

2: If your guild has capped the Guild hall (without your help) then you “might” be able to enter it through the Guild initiative building.
3: Even if 2 isn’t true, you still have accest to all the guild npc’s in the Guild initiative building.

Are there WvW guild missions that can possibly be completed in Edge of the mists at all?

Just double checked w/ the team on this – you cannot do these while in EoTM.

You can however have people in different worlds running missions simultaneously for the guild that all contribute. They simply only need to have 3 guild members participating in the specific event for it to count towards the mission – regardless of which world.

So if i understand it right. if my 3 man guild that is from 3 servers would all do the req event from the wvw mission. it would count as having been completed by the guild. regardless that the 3 of us were not in a party at the time or even online at the same time.

I want to address something I’ve seen creep into this discussion from a few forum members. The original plan (call it Plan A, Saturday evening) was adjusted due to what seemed to be preponderant base of opinion from players. It was temporarily thought that going to a Saturday morning reset, Plan B, would be better, based on the first set of comments in this thread. But when it became clear that no, Plan B was actually not as good for players as a whole, the team then went back to Plan A. At absolutely no time did someone come up with a plot to manipulate you. At no time did someone say something in an insincere way , as in “let’s present Plan B to make Plan A appear better.” Both plans were an honest attempt to balance player desires with developer realities. The Saturday reset is needed, as John explained, and of the two options, based on your feedback, the evening reset is the best for the majority of players. That’s where we are right now, and you can be sure that there was no conspiracy involved in the outcome.

No matter what you choose there will always be players who say “no this is better”.
So here is my suggestion.
You have 2 plans. the old one and the new one.
Try the new one out for a while.
Set up a poll page, link to it on the load schreen in game so people know about it.
tall votes.
There ya go, ya know which is most wanted.
if ya want to prevent troll votes, add a “i don’t care” or “free gold for everybody” poll option. Those votes you can then discard as people not actually caring one way or the other.

End result: you know if your new plan is better. And if it is, you have simultanisly gotten the people resistand to change to get used to the new. If its not, when you change back everybody celebrates. Problem solved.

Yes this basically uses players as guinea pigs. But lets be honest, the same thing happens every patch.

I like the traits on druid aspecially the run one. i made me drop a sigil and added another.
But the druid skills all feel like meh. aspecially the elite, which doesnt even do what its suppoced to do when i’m right on top of enemies. Never mind any kind or ranged combat.

Here is a thing about map chain events. You really don’t need to add a gold sink to the mordrem bloom rewards.
Why not? Because players will be masively using the waypoints already to move around the map quickly.

So then if the events not even loot people gold, people won’t be happy at all. New players esspecially don’t have THAT much gold to just hop around. So they will be penalized simply for being new. Because they won’t be fast enough to get to some events since even scaled up to max. if you have a full map doing those events, the distance between one completed events and the next can be big.

Also, the stacking boon thing promotes players to simply “tag” as many events as they can. And so won’t atually help completes an events. This scales up some events more than needed and makes them long and hard for those that do want to complete the events.

There is nothing wrong with the events them selves, but they do feel very much like a Scarlette invasion V2 only with less time to get the rewards you want and higher costs to the player.

So how could it be improved?
How about putting the event rewards in line with other rewards for event completed on a map. This doesnt mean the gold coming in to the event would break the economy, because it would be washed out just as fast through masive waypoint useage.
To combat disconnects, give players a bouncy chest with blooms after each completed event. Say 2 blooms for bronze, 4 for silver and 10 for gold. This would make getting the rewards from the npc more reachable, even with a disconnect half way through. Since the player does get rewarded for every event they DID help in.

It also promotes players to stick to the completion of an event because getting gold rewards more blooms. This combats the above mentioned “tagging” of events. And it won’t majorly impact how much players waypoint because multiple events happening at once is very effective in spreading the players. And players will try to go to new events to get the gold instead on nearly completed ones which could only reward then bronze or silver.

And finally because of the higher rewards in blooms, players would be able to try for the big rewards. Now you’re probably doing the match on how this could be farmed. But the thing is, diminishing returns can be added to this. It is very effective in discouraging most from farming. Doing 15 events during a single invasion, is not unreasonable. And have DR kick in after 20 events would curtail some of that. Though i think its very hard to get gold on all of those during an invasion.

Finally the timing of the events. 3 events of 30 minutes + 3 times 30 minute waiting time does not promote casual play. For all that the hardcore players ARE in the game that long. Doing similar events over and over gets tedius and grindy fast. Instead you could have two different kinds of events happening on the same map with a 15 minute wait time to organise players across the map.
First stage of events: Preparing the defensive against the Mordrem. No Mordrem yet, instead its random npc’s all over the map wanting help building siege equipment, barracades and such. These events can be less “omg, i’m gonna die” and more “omg, the Mordrem will be here soon. We have to prepare to defend Tyria”.
Because the events are less about fast pase action and more about carefull construction. People will have more time to coordinate. Big guilds would love this. and single players will be reading map chat to learn where to go and what to do.
These events also don’t have to drop blooms. (wouldn’t make sense either) Instead just be the usual exp+ karma + gold that other events on that map has. This will let the new and not so rich stock up a little cash to spend when the second stage hits.
The second stage could be the Mordrem invading. and no, they don’t have to be in the same place. they can be “randomly” located. in fact that would be better to prevent camping. Also, Mordrem are much smarter than the undead and know what siege equipment and the like is.

because there are two types of events, it breaks up the grindy feeling of killing the same mordrem over and over.
Also, you could stagger the events happening so there is only 15 minute break between mordrem events on each map. This will send the rich players to the next map, while the poor will stay and do the First stage event before the next Mordrem invasion.
This would mean there would two diff maps having Mordrem and one having defend events happening, or one Mordrem and two defend events happening at once.
And No staying on one map and only do the events there would not be in a player’s intrest because DR is stilla thing. So it would flow players from map to map. Usually by waypoint usage.

And it would be nice to communicate to the players on if the Blooms are a drop only for this event. Or if they are something that will return in future events.
I’d like it to come back, because that would let even the player with very limited time, to still try for the high rewards over time. Since its not a thing you can buy off the TP.

So there is my idea on what doesn’t work on this style event and how to improve it in the future. I hope you liked what i’ve written, and hopefully next time. I’ll not feel like i’m drained of my gold for a carrot i know i can’t reach.

So, essentially what you are asking for is a way to have options like “Receive Whispers”:

  • From All
  • From Friends and Guild Members
  • From Friends
  • None

This seems like a reasonable feature request.
If Player A is on Player B’s friends list, but Player B isn’t on Player A’s friends list, how does that interaction work out?

Would this also extend out to things like mail?

(Please note this does not mean that this will happen, won’t happen, is planned to happen, and or not planned to happen)

I’d imagine it to work like follows:
all: no restrictions cept those who are on thw players block list.
friends + guildies: I only conside it a friend connection if player A has player B on their friend list and player B has player A on their friends list.
Guildies are obvius, unless they are on the block list for some reason. Then block takes priority.
What you call “friends” but i call “acquaintances”.
This is where Player A has player B on their friends list, but player B does NOT have Player A (yet) on their list.
In this case, Player A has a limited pool of whispers they can send to player B. This becomes unlimited when Player B adds Player A to their friends list.
I’m saying limited, because we also have party chat, map chat and say chat as alternative options.
none: no whispers can be recieved. OR sent.

Now why i propose the no sending of whispers during “none”. This is to prevent abuse.
I’m sure players can think of plenty of situations where being able to send out whispers without getting a responce back would be abused.
The None option would simply be for being AFK and not getting swamped by bots. Or when player A are doing challenging group content and don’t want to be disturbed by player B, who just happens to be a friend who recently started playing and wants to bug their friend with “questions” like “how do i level?”
I do think the None option could have an automated red text saying “This player has chosen not to recieve whispers at this time. Try again later.”

Just some ideas on the concept.

Personal Story Audio Problem

After testing the sugestion and reading up on old audio bugs.
I’ve noticed a patern-ish
When ever a npc first talks AND they mention the players title. The audio vanishes.
If the player title is mentioned at a later point in the conversation and is not part of the npc’s first line in the dialoge. it is hit and miss.
This does not cover when the player’s audio is missing however. but it should help the audio team get closer to a fix i hope.

Personal Story Restoration update

So I just completed the Greatest Fear chapter with Tonn and I noticed that for whatever reason the dialogue is muted in some places during cutscenes. This has also happened in some LS instances as well (in Dragon’s Reach part1 for me). Not sure how far this has spread and I’m hoping you can take a look at it.

This is a bit off topic, but I’ll address it.

I noticed that VO issue the other day in the Black Citadel and sent word over to the Audio team. If you find this happening again, can you create a new thread in the appropriate forum and attach a screenshot? We need to see the chat log output (or the text bubble for the missing VO) to get a repro. Thanks!

This happens in most personal story instances as well as cut scenes in dungeons. You can read the text but some of the vocals do not play. The strange part being the scene waits an appropriate amount of time.

Some advice courtesy of our audio department: See if moving the audio quality slider to Fastest helps.

F11 > Sound Options > Sound Quality: Fastest

Tested this to see if it helped and at first in the Order of whispers audio it did seem to help. But then i tested it in the Orr personal story steps and the bug reappeard.
So i don’t this the bug is connected to the sound options slider.

I’m experiancing this bug too.
Its usually the first line thats without audio, then it seems to go : on, of, on, of. in a random patern.
I do believe this bug was reintroduced some time around the New LA – Scarlet’s recap. When localised audio was introduced. Just a thought.

Beta feedback-Death by Jumping Mushroom

I actually tested the jump between the Itzel village and the pact camp. Did that jump several times just to be sure of results.
Going from Itzel to pact, you aren’t in danger of getting killed by falling damage. Since the landing is higher than the take off point.
Going the other way however, either takes about 90% of your health or kills you outright depending on where you stand on the mushroom. And that is, if you don’t hit the tree branch half way there.

It took me maybe 5 minutes to find the GW2/Twitch booth? Because I KNEW before hand they had partnerd up for it. I Could have looked up their spot on the website, but i was being lazy.
I knew the line would be long, since everybody would want to play
So i came prepared with a book and my DS. (Seas of Sorrows, if you’re wondering)
While in line, i played Streetpass and read.
After enjoying the demo (not the beta i think, cus it had some audio bugs i didn’t encounter in the beta.)
I got my T-shirt and lanyard.
I would deliver some stroopwaffels and spend what time i had left in a nice spot streetpassing away.

Thats basically what i did all 3 days i was at gamescom. And it was awesome!

Even four day cons still have people arriving on Friday after work. And Sunday is still a day when things will wind down, energy will be drained, and people will be leaving instead of excitedly packing in to panels.

I didn’t realize GamesCom was done only in day passes, though. My con experience has been in SF and LARP cons, and while you can get day passes for those I’ve always booked the whole weekend.

Yea, my experiance with other con’s are also, me buying whole weekend tickets.
But Gamescom has always been just day tickets. To get a whole event you need to buy four day tickets. I just missed out on Saterday.
Still, now i have a chance to play a lil bit with the BW1 while at my hotel on Saterday.
+Twitch will stream everything anyway.

I’ll be missing out on the pvp tournament, since its on saterday this time. (why not sunday???)

Generally the Saturday of a weekend con is the day full of the most energy for the attendees and the presenters. Friday is distracted by the logistics of arrival and registration, hotel check in, etc, Sunday people are tired and perhaps having to check out of their hotels and even leaving in the afternoon because they have to be ready to work Monday morning. So Saturday is prime real estate for presenting the cool stuff and getting the most attention for it.

That would be true if the con was a fri – sun event but its a thur-sun event.
Still, i’m just complaining since the saterday tickets have been sold out for months. they sold out in April i believe so yea :P

OMG, You did the BW1 during gamescom?!?

On the up side, i managed to borrow a laptop so i could play when not on the con.
Laptop is subpar though, but at least i can play.
And no ticket for saterday does mean i can play in the BW1 on saterday.
And I’ll be home on monday so i can play those last hours too.

But gamescom better be more epic than the BW1 though!
Though i’m sure they’ll have demo stations at gamescom… right?…right?

Dang it! Last I checked, Thursday and Sunday were available.

It seems according to DBZVelena (and from what I also heard) there may be some access if you’re willing to chance it, but that certainly wouldn’t be prudent if you needed to travel to the city, not knowing if you could get into the show. Is Saturn in a network, or might individual stores still have tickets?

I don’t know if your local german Saturn still has tickets. their website does’nt state if they’re sold out yet.
Gamescom website states you can get afternoon tickets (entry from 2 pm.) at the stands at Gamescom.
In my experiance, i advise to come early, those lines are LONG!

We still offer discounted afternoon tickets of Thursday (06.08.2015) until Sunday (09.08.2015) at a price of 8.00 Euro with admission from 02.00 p.m. at the box office on site. The admission however depends on the flow of visitors, ie. emergence from the site. Waiting times for the afternoon tickets can not be excluded.

Gamescom ticket shop only has tickets left for the gamescom congress. that DOES NOT include the tradefair. so its not useful.

So, if you don’t have a ticket now, you only have a chance at a ticket by standing in line for the afternoon ones.

Generally, its smart to get your gamescom ticket when they first go on sale. which is April.

And you can stand in line on location for afternoon tickets.
(Or if you’re from germany, try a Saturn store.)
