Yeah this kinda stuff is why fixing bugs in a codebase with millions of lines of code is always scary. Sometimes its better to NOT fix a bug :P

Do you have an example of a bug that if fixed could mess up a diff something else?

When designers play “Attached” effects on a creature, the effect is actually rotated 180 degrees the wrong way due to a code bug. So artists and designers would manually rotate the effect to work. But since there are already thousands of attached effects, fixing this bug would break all of those effects.

Granted, with some work you could probably make a clever python script to find all references to all attached effects and manually do some kind of fixup along with the patch, but it will still break for people working in different code streams than the main one that you do your fixes in.

Same issue, originally i thought it might be a memory problem. Since i normally run my browser next to gw2 while playing (gw2 wiki ftw)
But i still crashed with only gw2 running.
Also, its not a windowed vs full-screen issue since i always play in full-screen.
And its a recent bug, probably introduced with the games last major update, since I’ve gotten character through this mission 4 times already. never had any trouble.
Its probably in some way related to Nvidia though since i too have such a vid card in my pc. (Nvidia driver 382.05, though i’ll update it to latest after this post.)
My card is a Geforce GTX 970. my motherboard thing is a intel core i5 6600 cpu 3.30 ghz.
i’m running Win 7 (cus i don’t buy in to Micro-scam’s add-supported junk of a win10)
I’ve sent my crash logs in when my game crashed.
So I’ve done everything i possibly can to help figure out this bug. I’m sure it will get fixed soon.
Until then, i’ll go play one of my (many) alt characters.

What i love most is that the new hair styles are added to character creation, not locked behind a pay gate.
So if you want to make an authentic Elonian character, you can.

Of course i already had my girl and a hair-makeover kit. So that was easily done. My girl now looks exactly like she came from Elona.

And i think A-net miss-diagnosed this. we’re not actually afk. We’re just not moving.
You can’t actually be afk there. You need to replace turrets fairly often.
I personally feel like they went the wrong way with how to handle this. But we’ll see how this will go.

I would prefer some level of clipping.

Considering some back pieces are wings, if those float it looks really weird. Yes some other back pieces floating would be ok. but i get the impression that there isn’t an option to evaluate this per back piece skin. But for skins that should look like they’re part of the body, like the wings, or the vinegrowth. Those should not loat ever! they are skins that you either bought with money (wings) or put a lot of time and effort in making (vinegrowth) and they should look like they are awsome. Same goes for backpack like skins. Most of those are again gem shop skins. Having them float would defeat the purpoce of buying a backpack like skin in the first place.

Back in the day, like 2002 in very early internal testing, the hit box was not standard, and one of our clever programmers made all sorts of tiny characters to enable him to avoid getting hit.

I do wonder if certain races actually do have greater agility for jumping puzzles. I’ve had people say “Make a norn, they have a better gait” where others have said, “My asura is way better at JPs than any of my other characters” and everything in between. Think there’s any truth in that?

I can tell you one thing. Charr are slightly at a disadvantage on jp.
Not because size but their jump hight when not on 2 legs.

You see when a charr is out of combat, they run on 4 paws. But their jump hight is lower then.
If you don’t know this, jumping certain jp’s can be impossible untill somebody tells you or you start firing fireballs in fustration.
When you have activated any skill, your charr reverts to moving on 2 paws. And then he gets the same jump hight as any other character.

This has been an issue since launch btw.

I hope you’ll take out the death-penalty box. its not fun game play.

Me too, I’m always happy when they are there, due to me LIVING in Cologne, I even have no travel costs lol or anything, that could stop me from visiting Gamescom and since the first GC in Cologne, I always have given me for the time it is there holidays, so I could make sure to be also there xD

Last time they even invited me to some kind of special party and it was just great seing them all life making party with lots of other invited guests together.
At that day I got such a lovely Charr plushy, which guards since that day my PC desk LOL ^^

Oh i remember that party. Good food and i had Gaile sitting next to me most of the evening. Such fun. I’m hoping we get such fun again this year.

Or at least show us a Trailer about the next expansion, so that we get at least, if no release date, a small impression on what awaits us with the next expansion in regard of Features and Content.

That is what i’m hoping for. Regardless they have done Gamescom even when they didn’t have stuff to announce. The only time they skipped Gamescom since its start was last year.

They could always partner up with Twitch again like 2 years ago. That was fun.

Gamescom is really fun because you get to see and try out all this new stuff. But when A-net is there its double the fun simply because of getting to chat with the devs and such. And it lures out the GW2 cosplayers too, which is always fun to see.

I’m really hoping they will do it this year.

So Gamescom just opened their ticket-shop. And i was wondering if ArenaNet would be at the event this year. You guys skipped last year (pouts) but i hope you’ll be there again this year.

Regardless i bought my tickets, but i’m totally hoping to see all the Dev’s again. I miss you guys! wink

I really wish people didn’t post their character art of their own characters. I don’t want a T-shirt of your random npc toon that i’ll never see in game.
And i’ve had it up to my floppy asura ears with all the quagan.

What i’d love to see are portraits of the npc’s from the living story. Or the npcs from the personal story. That! is what i’d actually buy.

But at the moment its more being used as a voting platform for if people like their art and not what its intended for. Though there are ecceptions. (I adore that Scarlet shoulder bag idea. its awesome!)

People do add things for the lowest list price you know. So i duno why you think this is a bug.

The Basic Flagpole sold by the Guild commendation trader, is sold for 50 silver and a commendation.
This would be fine, if not that the scribe npc sells the same item also 50 silver but no need for a commendation.

I hope this is an oversight from when the scribe decorations got updated. But it would be nice if we could get a lil discount for using a commendation to buying guild decorations.

I think its because some of the hall’s upgrade parts. i mean parts you can’t reach until your guild hall is a certain level and you make that expand the guild hall upgrade. Were reachable with the updrafts. In fact it was way to easy to get to those “locked off” areas. (still is, if you make a lil jp to it.)
So to combat this un-intended thing they made it you need to turn on the updrafts. Which means you can only go so far even with leyline gliding.
Of course now we can build our own towers and get anywhere unless its deliberately blocked off. So now its no longer a thing.
Meanwhile A-net is more busy working on LS3 and the next expansion to even think on guild halls beyond the “needs more decoration options” thing.

i wouldn’t be so sure. but i’m being optimistic.

I can’t buy the outfit though, its not in the gem shop.

A while back i bought the Riding Broom for my witch character. Instead of Witch’s Outfit with its included broom. Mostly because i dislike the look of the outfit and could get a better witchy look with armor skins instead. The gems price diff also played a part in it. Why buy an outfit for 700 gems only for the broom when i could buy the broom for 250 gems, right?

But now this cat got added to one broom but not the other.
I understand that the brooms are named diff. but up till now there was no functional diff between them.
I hope this was an oversight and thus a bug.
Else i need to pay 700 gems for an outfit i don’t want because i do want the cat? (a lil expensive imo)

Ember bay is fun. cept for the 2 poi’s gated behind leyline gliding. not everybody have the skill or time to grind that mastery.

And once you get past that, you can be stuck at the next step where you have to do the same thing only with a bloody moving target.
After 30 minutes i gave up. One time getting them in the beam isn’t difficult, but it only half breaks the cc bar and you get knocked around by annoying adds with their nr2 longbow skill so by the time you manage the second, the cc bar has refilled.

Very solo-unfriendly

I think if you were to have the armor be more in line with other armor sets on female charr and Asura, it would be fine.

But those huge cups look stupid.

I play mostly charr and have 3 girls. but those armor sets do not get me to even contemplate, trying to find a raiding group.
And i’m an RP-er so armor skins are life for me.

I love all the new lfg categories. its awesome.
I like that we can now use commander tag to taxi people to organised maps.
What i don’t like is how confusing it gets when you have a taxi up with a limit of 50 players but the map the com is on is already at capacity.

maybe have it set as full if the map instance the com is on when they lfg is already full?
I duno, but com’s sure don’t bother to check if they’re on a full map.

I don’t know if Arena Net will be at the con, but they’re been there every year in some for or another. So get your tickets now, before they sell out. Saturday especially sells out fast, since its when most pvp typ games have their tournaments. Guildwars 2 included no doubt.

Oh and Gaile, if you read this, any chance you could confirm for us that Arena-net will be at gamescom again this year?

And a PSA: This year you get a separate mail with you public transport ticket. The Con tickets them selves are no longer also public transport tickets. I advice putting that ticket in your wallet so you don’t lose it if you’re planning on going more than 1 day.

Getting ‘stuck’ in ruby is a very important topic regarding how best league should operate. We changed matchmaking to make the ladder more prestigious and so far it has done that. Divisions are aligning with skill level much better than season 1. The product of this change is that the bulk of players who hover around the middle of the mmr curve should stay in sapphire and ruby. Win rate will level out at 50% because there are plentiful players of similar mmr in the same division.

Should average players be able to climb out of the middle divisions by grinding? This removes prestige and can make matchmaking worse within a division, but always allows a sense of progression.

Should average players stay in the middle divisions because that’s where they belong at their skill level? This retains prestige and only improving skill will allow climbing, but rewards and progression stop at some point through the season.

Is there an incentive that could be added to league games for players who have reached their appropriate division and can no longer climb?

By this argument i must be a very very bad pvp player because I’ve not won a single game for over 20 matches and this losing streak started when i managed to get out of amber.

So AM I such a bad player? Or is something else happening.

No player knows E’s gender. During Living Story, Kasmeer theorized that E maybe a group of people. But in short, we had limited volunteers so we went with whoever voice was available hehe.

I think i know where that comes from.
Once up on a time, loooong ago. Ascended trinkets had double stats. One set was the base stats like any item. and the other set was the stats of the gem on it. only because ascended items were (at the time) not intended to be salvagable. the double stats caused confusion in players.
So then A-net changed it so it added up the stats and showed it as just one set of stats.
However, i would not be surpriced that on back end, its still treated as two sets of stats.

Yes why is it even that on a hall advertised as being a gliders dream map, ya have to touch those platforms at all?

So i know most players use Edge of the mists as a fast way to level their characters.
However, i like to do it on my lvl 80 ranger. Better rewards and all that.

Now since the HoT update, stuff got changed. But it still rewards “experiance” and the daily rewards an experiance booster.
But does it really if you’re level 80?
There is no exp bar that ends in Spirit shards rewarded.
Nor does it reward exp for Masteries, because those don’t count in WvW and Edge is treated as such.

Is it intended? Or a bug.
I personally think its a bug just like that the Halloween Labyrinth didn’t reward exp to mastery lines if you were lvl 80 in there.
After all, if you shouldn’t be rewarded exp, then it shouldn’t SAY you got exp either.

I hope this will get fixed. though i doubt it will be “soon”.

I am sitting on a healthy 27 (have only spent one since HoT).

I looked through my achievements the other day and it looks like a sizable chunk of them are from the Hero tab. You get one from each story step achievement from the look of it. So say you’ve never played an Asura… you can go create one and play their story stuff up to level 30. That’ll give you 3 points in total if I’m not misreading my achievements. You don’t need huge amount of characters slots either… once you have level 30 story complete, you can delete the character and start over the process for another race.

If you do that for each race you haven’t played, that’s quite a few points for relatively low effort. Looks like you also get one for fully joining each of the Priory, Vigil, and Whispers.

I’m not sure where the rest of mine came from tbh.

This is great advice considering you also get a BL key at the completion on lvl 10 story.
