Laptop is 2x slower than a Core i5 desktop CPU on average fyi. A lot of CPU i5/i7 runs GW2 at 45-55FPS at overclocked level.

WvW, Crowded area mine with 4.8ghz 3930k i7 would run it low 30fps.

So imagine yours at stock in laptop which cannot be overclocked.

Upgrade CPU if you plan to play GW2 mostly. Don’t expect any FPS changes from GPU upgrade with this game.

The root problem is the USERNAME shows up on every post you make on this forums. They just copy paste and spam by browsing on the forums picking up names.

Anet should remove the ABCDE.1234 numbers. like leave it at ABCDE without the .1234

So they can’t whisper from copy pasting names off the forums.

I think player like @OP wants to avoid teaching. This is not how to be a leader in any aspect of the game. This is just purely selfish and generalization.

Once in a while I have new players in my party, I always ask who is new and willing to teach on the run. Helping players and they might even catch up to you someday and be skilled as you.

Some player level up in PvP only and in fact those players are probably very skilled in PVP and a bit of adjustment in PVE side. They can sit around 2k AP in that case.

Let’s clear something up about AP.

AP is now about player skill. It is not about experience.

AP in my opinion measures how seriously you take this game – if you took the time to grind out achievement points every day/living story cycle then that means GW2 means a lot to you and that you’re willing to put in time and effort into this game.

What does that mean? Why does it matter?

It means that you’re probably going to have invested enough time to be up to date with the latest builds, have ascended/legendary gear, and generally played through most of the game lots of times.

People that farm AP are generally players who aim for the top of everything in the game. The most expensive/ rare gear, the hardest titles – that sort of thing.

So yes – in a sense AP does matter as an indicator – an indicator for people to find other similar people.
High-AP people want to play with other high-AP people because they’re similar. And similar people have similar goals but also similar solutions to getting those goals.

High-AP players tend to be reward-oriented – and naturally want to group up with other reward-oriented people in order to maximize efficiency.

So if you’re new and feel excluded because of AP – it doesn’t have anything to do with you as a person and has everything to do with the fact that you’re new or not so invested in the game.

It’s been 2 years since the game started and experienced players pretty much want other experienced players to play with.

I’m hoping this clears up a few misconceptions about AP.
I’ve seen a lot of people saying that it doesn’t mean you are experienced or good – and they’re right.
But because of the reasons above any experienced player will tell you that if you have to choose between 2 random players in your party the one with higher AP has a better chance of being experienced than the one with the lower AP ( provided of course the difference is somewhat significant – anything over 2-3k difference).

The 16k-20k AP players still wipe and die in boss encounters, last to survive myself end up rezzing them at the end and solo if needed. I’m sitting at 9k with decked out Legendaries and armors.

What’s the deal here. You’re the one in misconception. Some players don’t farm AP every day. Players have a life and some players are really good at games and technical aspect of theory crafting builds. AND they don’t give a crap about AP.

Back in the day where players had 10k AP just sit all day long buying junks and salvage for AP. You call that serious skilled players at salvaging. Right.

Players took 6-12 months break, missing out all the 10k AP from festival events (like a joke) free AP. Coming back still left off 9K AP like myself, you call these players who took time away in RL and right off saying they are not skilled. I wonder how would you call a friend of yours with who took time off and missing out just the free AP festival events.

Get a life. You are so one-sided.

Yes with the new LS 2 things are better but with Anet’s big silence treatment with no expansion pack in sight and still unwilling to give us the time of day, I’m now down to dailies and monthlies and 1 day of LS per 2 weeks. At this rate even the added content will take a full 4 months to give us 1 map, proof look at Dry Top after 1 month of content it’s 25% the size of Brisband Wildland.

It takes 2 months for 1 map to be created and ready based on 5 years of production for 25 zones and 5 cities which is what GW 2 started with and don’t forget Anet had 170 employees when it started the game by the time they finished it they were about 330 and now 370.

The company is getting bigger yearly and still producing at a freak’in turtle pace. I started on day one of GW 1. Anet’s the company that gave me faith in MMO’s and also the one who’s making me loose faith in MMO’s.

So I guess It’s dailies until the 29th and then I’ll see you back in Dry Top for a full day of excitement in 12% of added zone content. Anet you’re becoming a big let down.

I suggest you should stop playing GW2 and play other games. Then come back and tell us.

For the last 17 years including GW2 with all the new exp TERA, WoW, Wildstar, Arch, etc. I just came back to GW2 for 2 weeks. GW2 is still has the more frequent updates on contents than any other MMOs.

You’re part of the 0.0001% who complaint.

It almost sounds like you have nothing else to do but waiting for Anet to feed you with updates every day.

F2P cash shop / microtransaction income is faster than subscriptions. You may hear story sometime how many player realize they have spent $200 in 6 months. I know at least I’ve spent that much. That is a lot of months of subscription but you get what you need on the spot, item or gold.

That is true, new player either way will have to recognize all the Guild Wars icon themes one way or another. Not just only the Hero UI.

I have 2 legendaries as well but why would you be disappointed. Those 2 legendaries are 100% top stats on any new updates until you get bored of the skins…

I came back after a long 7 months break and I found how all the UI changes are subpar downgrade in my experience. The user interface experience just got worse in some area especially for the Hero panel itself.

I feel like the current Hero UI panel is hassle to work with. Too much clicking needed especially when you need to swap things in tight timely manner.

The game server you are on is likely with one with the 167ms ping. A 1/6th of a second isn’t bad. Complain when it’s over a 1/3rd of a second, then you see some serious activation lag.

Honestly I am having hard time playing with 1-2 seconds skill lag. Also in Dry Top jumping with the activation crystal abilities is making a hard time on timing the jumps.

End up getting PingZapper, everything was better. I am not blaming GW2 servers, the issue is the datacenter and it might be the only datacenter bypassing from my location.

Tunnel / VPN service helps redirect a different route.

I must said, that datacenter Level3 is just horrid.

Everyday, DDOS or Not. These these pings are very frequent.

TERA, RIFT, SWTOR are F2P anyways, they do have sub but optional.

When Bethesda Softworks released Elder Scrolls Online, the industry took notice as the publisher fearlessly announced a subscription model, rather than going free-to-play like its direct competitor Guild Wars 2 (NCsoft).

Jumping back to traditional traveling like in WoW or even Tera. Waste so much times to get to places and by then, you will miss the events.

You really can’t change CPU on the laptop easily (very limited choices), it is not worth doing so if you find one because it will be only a few Mhz differences.

Only Desktop can replace parts for upgrades.

Dyes that changes to desired color you setup for day and night mode. The color will switch graduatually for day and night.

Like the Meteorlogicus scepter effect.

I’m having one issue with Shadow at Ultra that I drop FPS every 2 seconds from 60 to 45 repeatly. But on High, it stays constant 60FPS. (Normal map like outside of LA without anyone around.)

I think there is a bug.

I never had issue with Ultra before one of the patch in January or February totally kill it.

sigh, people are closed minded. Time-Gate is not meant to be fun but to balance the surge of needs from the market to avoid spike in material prices.

Right now, how many dumb people are buying ectos and shooting it up to 40 silver (still buying them at 40s peak) and then they realize oh you can use 5 ectos per day only. Why did I spend all my gold on 500 over price at 40silver.

40 silver is the peak at most, those who bought them at 20-22s thank you! We made a lot of money off you by selling it back.

Anet should increase the difficulties of the boss fights so we won’t be bottleneck skill by the content which is too easy and player depends on timing skills because of easy contents. No.

Make more frequent death in fights to allows us to utilize this skill to also revive dead dead dead players with a long cooldown. So this worth the recovery one chance per fight.

Problem I’m seeing that every class skills are all overblown too powerful and Anet has to limit the effectiveness of the skills. Some became utter useless. To make skill effective they need to up the combat system harder and more challenge.

Healing skills are the problem in this area, they heal so little because we have dodge. If they make bosses dmg player even dodging. They should increase the heal effectiveness thus better combat system.

Regardless of whatever you say. The CPU I have now was a major upgrade compared to my old CPU. And this is the only game that seems to fail in the FPS department with a computer that has more than enough power to play it and plays many other games completely fine so my CPU is not the issue.

Other games you will run fantastic, only GW2 will have FPS issue for you and for many of us. If you want know how I run GW2… I get 40-50FPS in LA with that system and in Zerg about low 15-30fps on mid gfx.

I know gfx settings and resolutions contributes some differences but let’s put it this way, I can run The Witcher 2 with ubersampling on still maintain ~60FPS. GW2 I can’t … and its a DX9 engine.

Not much I could do to get better FPS without overclocking near 5.0 Ghz on a beast CPU in the market today.

So the baseline of ~40FPS gameplay is to play at 1080p with mid-high setting on a FX-6000 series (OC) or Core i5 2nd gen up CPU (OC).

I’m not talking about idle in a map without anyone around.

It’s a tough call that GW2 game really requires high end cpu to handle zergfest.

For example, the Incinerator’s visual effects right now only works on Main Hand and for Off Hand users are totally none.

On the weapon skill bar there are 5 skills of attack and if you dual wield, 1st and 2nd is Main Hand effect and 4th 5th are off hand effect.

The 3rd is a dual skill so I guess it can be omitted or combine.

I have 2 legendaries on my MH and OH, I would like to have the effect affect each on their own skills set.

You’re going to make a huge mistake for getting 3770 non-K version… If you want non-K version what is the point of having H100 cooler.

K version is unlocked multiplier for Overclocking. The one you have in the list, you are limit to overclock by the motherboard bus and it won’t get you very high at all like only 33Mhz increase x the locked multiplier.

That is why it is cheaper.

3770 (not 3770k) CPU if you have no plan to overclock, all the rest of the stuff in the list is going to be a waste for you.

Skyrim mod… HD textures and heavy AA. nods I would go for GTX780 and get those extra for watercooling.

Custom loop is about $400-$500 range for your platform.

Unless you play on 4k resolution for 6GB.
