I agree with the OP of the thread.

Also they only drop those scraps and they only give you karma. I have enough Karma, I do not want or need more. I want items I can get weapons or something with. Such as fused tickets? Maybe? So I do not have to gamble to get them?

I really enjoy the new cutscenes, I think for small dialog this is the way forward. Thank you Anet for doing them.

Just my point of view, I enjoy the GW2 style of conversations but only when they are displaying a short movie: such as at the end of the game or at the start of AC story. They are great and I would hope we see more of them. However for normal conversations I think cutscenes are the way to go. They feel less intrusive and as you are seeing the character in the real world, maybe from a different angle, you still feel like your playing that character.

The Christmas event was good, it did one thing better then all the rest and that was to let me buy the items I wanted!

4 minipets were pure rng.

But you could buy 5 of the others, only getting 3 without buying them, and you could buy all the weapons and town cloths. I never said there was no RNG, but at least we had other things to spend our money on.

Oh and I did the Christmas chests and got the 3 mini pets, then turned them into a Quaggan. So the odds at Christmas were better then now.

So far I have not bought any keys, I am planning on getting some but with ingame gold. Anyway I did use some of the keys I already had, from just playing the game and story, and with those few keys I did not get the item I wanted. The ticket for the weapons.

First, I know some have got it often others have spent many more keys and got nothing. I know a friend who used 17 key’s and got 1 ticket. This is not the problem for me, how many key’s it takes is just the same if it takes 1 or 100. It is gambling, and in my opinion it is a bad thing for Anet to do.

The Christmas event was good, it did one thing better then all the rest and that was to let me buy the items I wanted! It is a simple thing, but I just bought them stright away from the Gem store. No gambling. Now I think this was a success, as I guess many people got those nice weapons. So why did you go back to the BLC only method? I do not like gambling, but I want these weapons. If they were in the Gem story to get separately, I would buy them all. Now ill be lucky if I get one.
Oh and it gets worse, you can not even sell them. So at least we could buy them on the TP for Halloween, but not got F&F. Great job Anet, you are letting people down.

DE’s need more story, which I guess is what the living story is all about. Assuming this patch has some real update to the F&F, the living story DE’s might be worth it: as I find the DE’s are the best way to learn about the game world.
I remember some events more then others, and the ones I do are the ones with dialog. Just enough to get me to understand what is going on, but then over a few events get a tiny feel for the character. That is what I hope these DE’s do with the new characters they keep talking about.

Oh and a reward for killing these new enemies. Halloween had it (the best one so far) and Xmass had them. They are what make me search for events in the first place which leads to the nice dialog.

The killing invaders is easy, I did it with out trying. When the second part came out I went looking for the changes, and before I knew it I had almost 100 kills. I stopped at that point and finished it off a few days ago in just a short amount of time. So in my opinion it should have required more kills.

The real question should be, why can we not use dungeon tokens to get Laurels?

I think it has been mentioned but I would like to post my thoughts on the living story.

1. I feel like the past two living stories have been over hyped (I know many have said it already). They came out and told us about characters we still have not seen. Events unfolded too slow, a month apart. Now with the next update that might be redeemed however I would like the next living event to be less hyped. Tell us what is in the update coming not the one after or the one after that. I felt disappointed after the first and second updates to the living story because each time I expected more.

2. The speed of the event being put out. I feel it is too slow. I understand you want to do it all a month apart, but by then I have moved on and forgotten what it was about: or lost all excitement for the event. A example of this would be the Xmass one, it went on for far too long. I know not everyone did it at the same time when it came out, but it felt like that event just never ended and I wanted to move on to the next thing. In my opinion, I feel that content the size of the first two living story sections could have been done maybe two weeks apart. I think if they were done in this way they would have seemed like they are progressing, instead of me just forgetting them.

3. The best event so far was Halloween, for me. It had rewards unique to Halloween: I made characters do all the scavengar stuff to get them so later down the line when I wanted to level them, I could and see this unique reward for doing that. So far I have not got that experience. So please give us better rewards, even if they are small like a mini pet or a hat. They incentively me to do the content.
I know we have the painting btw, but it is just a karma reward so it is a little bit disappointing as know one needs Karma.

4. While events out in the world are fun, and they are Halloween did them, sometimes we need another reason to do them. Xmass and Hallow both had these, and they are a drops from a enemy we can only get at that time. I still have loads of Halloween candy and I would like some more of those from future events. If I know I can only get them then, I go out and do that content deliberately: while having fun and experiencing the hard work put into the living story.

5. A mini dungeon. I really liked how the Halloween one went, and to some extent the Xmass one. I enjoyed doing them over and over again for rewards but more then that, it seems to be you can get a story over to the player in a slightly more personal way in a dungeon. You feel like your the hero doing all the work, or you and your 4 other buddies. Where as in the world I am player X doing spam attacks to hit the mobs while my whole server does events. Kind of like the dragons.

I think that is everything I have to say, and thank you for doing the living story. I do hope it gets better in this next month, however I still feel a month apart is just a little too far.

Basically they made it look terrible because no one wanted it to change. Oh wait! lol.

I think ele’s have long cool downs to encourage you to change attunemeants as opposed to stay in one. That way you go to the next attunemeant and use it’s long cool down skill.

I dislike the change to the Air Elementals. First why did they add legs and a tale? They were nice the way they used to be, just balls of lighting flouting as if they were held up my static electricity. Now I find I just think they look silly, I mean I never once thought oh please make a lighting spider that would make it better lol.

I would like them to change them back, or at least the ele summon versions.

I think this living story is taking too long to build up. When they first announced it and did the pre event stuff, with the sign posts, I thought okay they are building it up. Then the next update came out and it was just some Flame Legion and Dredge!. Now the third sounds the same as to what we have been doing already. So unless they make it amazing group events and really encourage me to do it, why should I? I lost all my hype for it a long time ago. I also prefer the dungeon type of story moments, like they did in the Halloween update. So for the last part, please give us a small but fun dungeon to do.

So when I head this me and my guildies had a little talk and the a few things became apparent. First, everyone thought they were working on one. As to how far in development is up to debate, but everyone thought one was in the works. The second thing was how people reacted, almost all were disappointed. It seems we thought a new one would come out at some point, be it in a year or in six months. It just did not sound like good judgement that they would not have at least started working on one.

My point of view is, okay you have been busy fixing the game. Bugs, content and all sorts of stuff: however they are always talking about a lack of programmers and this always made me thing they have most working on new content. Now we know they are not, I have to wonder what are they doing? If they are all doing this living story, then my opinion of it is low! I was always disappointed by it, but gave it the benefit of the doubt because I sort of assumed they have a small team working on it.

Anyway, I hope they soon start to look at adding new big content to the game: such as a area the size of Ascalon maybe the crystal desert. I would love to see them give us £20 or £30 expansions with some story evolving in a giant area, through a few maps. Maybe the area where the Blood legion call home.

Also, I want to point out that I love GW2 atm but we need some new things to expand the PvE side of it: and they could use expansions as a way to give us new WvW maps.

I wonder how long it is going to take them to make a expansion, once they start?

I am having this issue also. Two days in a row now, yesterday day and today I have gotten gold for the Shattere and got no chest reward.
I know once per day, per character. So I leave a alt level 80 their, it only does that event. I only do it once per day, yet I am not getting the chest.

I do the same for the other dragons, however I have always got the reward for them so far.
So differently a issue, unless it just resets on a 24 cycle exactly?

I must say I am very pleased by the new additions to the AC dungeon.

I feel motivated to do all the bosses now and for the first time, as we no longer rush through AC, we kill Kholer! It is great as each path is worth about a gold, so most of my guildies are interested.
We are also currently teaching the new guys how to do it, as it takes more skill then stats now and lots of people like it in our guild.

Oh this dungeon has the only NPC in game that I feel the need to protect or revive. Good job, and I can not wait to see what you do to CM.

So I tell them it is a week to unlock the next type of mission, when a guild corrects me and tells me that we in fact have to wait 17 days. A week for economy 5 and then 10 days for economy 6.
I was gutted as I am sure many are about this, but my biggest problem is not that it would take a week to get the next type of mission: because we sort of knew that, but that then there is another after that which is even longer! I mean why?
All this does is stop our guild from doing them, a small to medium sized guild, that can not afford to spend influence on speeding it up. Now instead of enjoying this content slowy but at a releasable pace, we get to spend 17 days doing normal stuff.
My guild gets about 30 to 50 people online on a weekend, most are busy so we have a small window on which to organise this and now everyone is disappointed. Also at that rate it is going to take us months to get to Guild Puzzles, the one most of us want.
Please remove one of them, it is pointless and strengths the argument that this is content aimed only at large guilds. Until now I thought it was just aimed at normal sized ones but I am rethinking my position.
I also have another fear and that is that new members might seek a even bigger guild to do them, one who can wast thousands of influence getting them fast.
I understand the price to research them, but not the time. It is pointless.

It is going to be great to see loads of guilds running around killing champs and being chickens! I am so excited about guild missions.

Please do not increase the level cap.
First leveling in this game is not hard, it is fine the way it is. Increasing it is the same as bringing out new armour, your going to wreck your game and unbalance it. Please do not do that.

Second, if you just keep adding stats on then why not just let us unlock all the traits? Currently we have builds that use 70 triat points, if you keep adding to it 10 at a time or whatever then it gets out of hand. If I get given 10 more, why not 20? Why not just let me have the whole tree unlocked from the beginning of the game? Please do not do level cap increases or gear tread mills. There are other ways to keep people more interested in a game, for a longer period of time. Given that level cap increase and gear progression are just short term goals.

Buff not nerf and give us a lot more builds, instead of one and two.

Split PvP from PvE, it worked for GW it will work for GW2.

Hello I am DOW, from Vanishing Legacy.
We are a very active guild that are planning to do even more events then we do now.
We run dungeons every night, story and explorable, and we do noobie dungeon nights for the new people to Guild Wars 2: where we teach you how to run dungeons in a fun and friendly way.

Other event we have are PvP, and Temple events. One is organised PvP with guildies and the other is events doing temples, as a guild, in Orr. Both are great fun, but we are going to do more. We are waiting for the Guild Missions and then we are going to run them regularly.

I am against this as everyone has there own build and might have odd stats on there gear , but if it works for them then it is fine.

Also if you play with people you know, and hopefully trust, then you could just talk to them about there build.

The Sceptre is a very odd weapon, and I do not think it has much use. The only time I would use it is if I was making a condition ele, but even then I might not.

It really needs to be improved.

The Flame and Frost stuff all sounds great, seeing old and new characters with a long term story is a good idea. So I really am looking forward to it.

The one feature I am looking forward to above all others is Guild Missions! I know we do not know what it is going to be like, but when I read it I just got excited from my imagination, as I am in a very active guild and we try and do things together. So this is going to be very well received from us.

What I think guild missions are, is sort of story missions or giant group event that need cooperation like completing two events at the same time. I think I would want both of these, but if I had to pick one I think the story missions with your whole guild sounds better. Perhaps they could let us start a instance, and all your guildies in the area get a invite. Then say you get 10, up to however many, you do it similar to a dungeon only you are in a bigger group then 5 and the whole thing scales very well because it based on a lot of team play. Such as reviving each other, and splitting up. I think this is what it well be like, but I guess we shall have to see. I really can not wait for it though.

No forcing people to do 50ish WvW kills is bad. 5 dungeons is easy. Just do story on a few dungeons and your done.

So I think the 5 dungeons is one of the best monthly’s every and would love to see a 1 dungeon completed for daily.

NO, 80 is high enough. A higher level cap just makes the game easier, and does not really help in any long term goal.

I have been thinking about trying to get a legendary, I am at that point where I have my main characters done and all I would have to do is start working towards in while doing the things I normally do. Then I looked at the TP prices, 500g + for some, and thought I am never going to get that much money or want to spend it.

If it was at about 100, I might have, but they are just stupidly high. My main problem is why they are so high, people are controlling the market on precursors.

My friend was trying to buy one and kept putting in buy orders, then someone kept upping the price by 1 copper to control who got the precursors.

Please Anet, make them drop more often so the price comes down or do something else. It is needed badly, as it is all being controlled with so few precursors around.

Well in GW1 I just liked to make characters, and though I often respeced I had a lot of fun making a new character and using a radically different build. I have continued this in GW2 and I am enjoying it.

Also as I do not like to grind, I get a lot of resources this way. As I level properly, and do not power level with crafting.

Another reason is it helps me learn the class better, I found the one character I power leveled I did not know much about it and since then I have not played that character very often.

Thank you all for suggesting condition builds for dungeon, I can now wait till I have leveled the condition mesmer now.

Mesmer condition build, for PvE and Dungeon.

I am currently leveling 2 mesmer’s and I wanted to ask some experienced players if a condition damage mesmer for PvE/ dungeons is viable.

I have two, as I said before, one is going to be a shatter build. For the other I was hoping to go some kind of condition build, be it hybrid or a full condition build. Anyway is it possible and how effective is it in dungeons?

I am new to being a mesmer and while I like the class I am not used to it yet. That is why I am asking on here.

I need some help for a Necromancer build.

I either want go a direct damage build, or a hybrid of condition damage and direct damage.

I have tried to make a direct damage build my self, and to me it felt too weak. Maybe I was comparing it to a much strong build of a different class and I shouldn’t however I just did not feel strong when I tested it.

So I am currently testing a condition damage, direct damage build. It is a interesting one but I felt like I should ask on here for any interesting builds.

Does anyone have any direct damage build or a hybrid condition damage build they could show me?

Yes I flee the way to get the Quaggan mini pet is just wrong. First I do not gamble, and I am not going to just for a mini, however this means I can not get any of the mini I need to get the Quaggan.
I really feel this is as bad of a situation as the Halloween skins, only this holiday they reversed it and allowed us to use sweaters to get the skins. Or buy nicer ones on the Gem store. So please allow us to buy the Quaggan mini pet, I know you do changes all the time Anet. Such as giving me another 250 cogs after I bought all the mini pets on the store, which I can not use to get the Quaggan I really want.

So stop with chests that only give us a chance, let us buy things directly. I would spend way more gems that way. So far I have spent about a 1000 gems on Christmas gem store items, because I could get them on the gem store directly. I am talking about the winters day costume and the wooden weapons. Oh and the toy mini pets. However I can not get the other mini pets, not even but using in game gold and buying them off the TP. I would have to buy gems with gold and right now that is just far too expensive. Please Anet, let us buy the Quaggan in the gem store.

Personally I have played it since it came out and I am still really enjoying it, so that is why I wanted people to vote for it. It is a shame haters roam a forum for a game they either do not play or play alot and yet do not think it should win anything?

So I found this build a week ago and wanted to know what others thought about it.
First does any use a similar build?
On screen, does this build look like it could work for you?
I know this is for DD and Staff, however I sort of want to adapt it for Sceptre dagger. So does anyone have any ideas?

I have been using a staff build, not much like this one, for the whole time the game has been out and I now want to use Sceptre in dungeons instead. So I am really looking for a build with Sceptre dagger, but this to me looks like it could work with sceptre.

I just want to say I did not buy any of the new chests in the Karka event. It is gambling and I do not do that. If they had added the skins on the Gem store, to buy directly, then I would have gotten some. Just like I did for Halloween, I got the mini pets and the costumes.
So please Anet, do not do random chance with chests.

The view of a casual player.
I am against all forms of vertical gear progression. So when I first heard about the new content I really did not think it was what it sounded like, however after some more posts by Anet it became clear that it was what it sound it like. A gear treadmill.
I played Guild Wars(1), and every campaign, and I came back to that game so many times. I have only really done that for a few, as with most games I leave once I get bored and do not bother coming back. However with GW(1) you added new campaigns and got me reinterested, and then the best bit was I came back and did not need to grind to get new gear for my main character because there as no gear treadmill. This meant I could play alts and get different gear for my main based on looks.
For GW2, this is not the case. I have not got bored yet, I am enjoying your game and I felt getting exotics was hard enough. I have only got two level 80s with exotics, and it s taking some time to gear them up. However I just read a post about how it is going to take either 250 ectos or 1850 fractal tokens to get the back slot item.
For me a casual player I have to say this is insanely high. I would not mind it so much if it was only for the looks, however as I understand it you need this new gear for the infussions and the higher stats in later fractals. So please tell me why you would do this?
Exotic was fine, and now we have to work twice as hard to get better gear if we want to keep up. Currently it is not too bad as most have alts and do not mind doing the lower level fractals. However soon, say a months time the about of parties going to level 5 fractals are going to drop and anyone who does not have the right gear is gong to find it very hard to catch up. Now luckly I am in a good guild and we help each other, but we are all casual and it is going to take a lot of time to gear everyone. By the time we do that, some of the slightly more hard core players will have the gear and may not want to help. How often would you world complete queens dale for a guild mate?
So Anet please remove this gate to the new dungeon. You are splitting the community.
As you get more fractal tokens in later levels, a temporary solution might be to allow people to start at the fractal of the highest memeber. However this is only going to slow down the split of the community. If I take a break from GW2 now, ill never catch up and that means I wont come back. So I am just hoping I do not get bored, and with all this grinding for new gear just to stay with everyone that might happen.

Anet needs to stop the gear treadmill!

Diminishing Returns on Players Stats.
So I wanted to know at what point does a stat start to give less, and require a higher stat to keep going.

Basically I wanted to build a crit damage build for my character, however I have condition damage attacks and I wondered when is it best to stop boosting power, or toughness and have condition damage instead.

If anyone has a link to a site or a post that would be great.
I did look around but could not find a answer. Thanks.

Give us a way to upgrade our exotics to Ascended armor (keeping their skin) and I dont think many would complain.

Or just bring ascended down to exotics, in stats, and have infussion be a gem, rune and sigil. Then we can equip it on our exotic, and people who want the new look of ascended can still aim for that gear.
That adds new gear for people, without it being a gear treadmill. So basically staying true to what GW2 should be like. It is a pity we have to now grind to get the next level of armour. I feel like my hard work to get exotics was for nothing.

Please Anet, remove the stats from your ascended gear and let is upgrade exotics with infussion.

It is simple, they said originally there would be no gear treadmill. Now this new level of armour, which originally was not meant to exist, is meant to be the last.
If they can just go back on what they said once, why not do it again. Sorry but if they release this new level of gear, whatever the say again has to be taken with a pinch of salt.
