Pitch is defintely recommended. Any white or black dyes would do the trick too, I’d stay away from red/gold/orange dyes on low lvl mediu. gear. Try to keep it simple simple, don’t mix too many colors and don’t use any bold dyes.

Oh and I almost forgot, probably all necro’s know this:

You can use Dark Path and immidiatly leave DS after the cast, it does not affect the projectile. You can chain the port with dagger AA for example.

Same thing goes for Tainted Shackles, after the initial short channel, it doesn’t matter anymore if you’re in DS or not. The skill will keep pulsing.

Sorry I have to dissagree with this one.
While it would increase skill cap, DS realy is a tranformation, it’s like a 3rd weapon swap, RPG-wise it doean’t make sense to use the special powers of DS outside of it.
Furthermore, it would reduce counter play. Nuking necro’s LF to 0 is the main counter to its skills, so in some way you’re also reducing the skill cap.

We can already use abilities outside of DS and “drag” them in, like dropping Well of Suffering, or using dagger OH skills right before going DS. You can also use spectral armor/walk to get LF while in DS.

I think power necro, or how I call it, zerkomancer, is in a good place regaeding skill cap atm.
Imo we need improvrd sustainability, some QoL changes to certain cast times, + aninations on powerful skills like corrupt boon.

Most builds I see in soloq are dd cele ele (light), cele engi (medium), turret engi (medium), MM necro (light), medi guard (heavy), survival ranger (medium). Which are all very tanky.
I berly see glassy specs, just a few thieves, lb rangers, and shatter mes…

To be fair, if you spam your skills brainlessly then you are doing it wrong.

As a dd cele ele you need about 2-3 brain cells. As a turret engi you need ~1 brain cell, or a macro that drops your turret and presses 1-1-1-1-1-1.

On a sirious note though, the current meta involves too much passive effects and AI (in soloq). The less you acitvely play the more braindead/brainless you are.
Spamming skills isn’t evrn the issue in my opinion, it’s how some builds reward generously for little effort.

I don’t completely agree with you though, the game had devolved into insta/passive/procs/bruisers meta that pretty much nullifies actual counterplay and requires about 2 brain cells in totall.

It is less notable though at the highest tier of pvp, but Anet’s philosophy is to balance pvp for new players ehm warrior and necro ehm

Past experience:

I started to play pvp early in the game, I started as a condi warr, and lb ranger, since I ussually go for the archer classes.
About 4 monthes after release I already played and learned every class, I mainly multiclassed as condi warr, trapper ranger / power ranger, shatter mesmer, thief (ussually condi), medi or bunker guard, and HGH engi.

At the time you’re you got sucked into pvp I wad maining my condi warr.
I just got back to the game after a break and found out warriors got buffed. I came across a mace/sword lb warr who intoduced me to the spec.
I made my own version of the spec and started playing 1v1 a lot more sireously.
At that time I was the only mace condi warr to play in duel servers, and also one of the few that played it in tpvp.
It’s true that it was a strong build, and you could easily call it OP, but just remmember how OP other builds were; Terrormancer, s/d Thief, Spirit Ranger, phantasm condi mesmers, medi guard, s/f Fresh Air Ele, and a few more.
I used a godmode spec against other godmode specs, it was balanced in the OP meta.

I decided at that time that my main focus in the game is 1v1. Although I did play a lot of tpvp with friends who needed a sub/5th.

I toyed around with power ranger and started bringing it to duel servers. At that time it was such a crappy spec, I still managed to win about half of my fights, although I couldn’t win against equally skilled players, or against any thief.

I stopped playing for about a month when I joined the army, when I came back I mostly played lb ranger and rifle war.
Inb4 you say ’lol noob", I only played hotjoin and 1v1 at that time since I berly had any time to play at all.

Then the lb buff patch came along and made power ranger that much better. Got more QQ than on my warr, that’s kinda funny. Although people shout for shatter mes nerfs so I guess that’s just the community.

I got tired of the QQ and wanted to play something I don’t have a lot of experience with, so I started focusing on zerk necro, and that brings us to the present

If I’m running 25+ Dueling / 10+ Chaos on my Mesmer, I will be generating clones so that you have to go out of your way to not be near them … which buys me more time and helps me influence your positioning.

WHen I’m on my Mesmer … I hate having the pet chase me. Mesmers rely largely on active defenses, so having a pet continuously chewing on them forces them to either (1) Just take it or (2) Consume cooldowns. Either way is a bonus for the Ranger as it’s either more damage on the Mesmer or less cooldowns they can use to avoid your attacks.

I’m actually reffering to your signature and not on what you wrote here.
While it’s true you lose clones when you miss/ooc, you can generate them a lot easier than a warrior can generate adrenaline.
If warriors would get a bar of adrenaline on a dodge roll then I wouldn’t mind the nerf.

OH Axe is by far better than warhorn. You can use the dagger instead for extra survivability + poison + cripple, although you’re missing the Axe’s burst and CC.
Also the axe helps countering engi, zerk necro, any warr with LB, and other LB rangers.

There’s a nice combo a friend of mine invented: Hornet Sting → Path of Scars → Monarch Leap. This way The Axe will 100% hit the target on its way back (since you’re on your target) unless he dodges.

lol so with that logic if a skill with projectile did 999999 dmg in 1 second its balanced bcuz you can just evade/block/reflect/blind/gapclose and also there is no point blinding a rapid fire, just shows rangers main trying hard to think the current change isn’t OP.

This is not what I said, the fact that this is your response shows you don’t have a proper answer.

Is it so special that you need tactics to defeat a certain spec? Against lb ranger, advance with block/reflect/stealth or dodging, when you’re up close ypu shoul focus on evading/blinding or applying hard CC to negate BPS/Barrage. Having stability while bursting helps too.
If you’re a mesmer/engi/thief/guard you shouldn’t care less about the 1500 range, you can easily port/stealth/block to get into proper range. Necros might take a few long range shots, but once they’re in range they have the advantage.
Hambows have a hard time hitting power ranger although they soke the damage if they have a defesive amulet (soldier/cele/valk/knight), with other warrior builds it realy varries.

Now, I suggest you to actually try playing power ranger in the 1v1 servers.

Go ahead and add animation to BPS, and while you’re at it, add animation to Steal, Judges Intetvention+Smite Condition, Fresh Air Lightning Strike, Doom, melee range Mind Wrack, and engi’s IP.
The only reason players are complaining about rangers is because of the amount of them. There were berly any good longbow rangera playing pvp, the only people who played it were bad pvp players since they didn’t understand the meta.
Strong pvp ranger players either used spirits, or a anothet class.

im perfectly fine if those skills also had visual tells but the reason rangers one stand out currently isn’t only because of the influx of rangers but also because its much more noticeable when you get nuked for 6k+ unlike if engi proc IP.

First of all I was reffering to PBS, RF has an animation and even if it had a cleare one it wouldn’t change anything – it’s a channeling skill, it doesn’t have precast. Every skill I listed (except maybe Mind Wrack) has the same (if not stronger) effect as RF, AND is impossible to dodge on purpose.
engi’s IP is more than 4k burning over 7 sec every 10 sec without any cast time nor animation.

You faced crappy competition. Power rangers are better than before. But we still have to go glassy if we want to deal decent damage, which means we lack the survovability other professions do have on their zerk specs.
We’re extremely vulnerable to retaloation, blocks, blinds, immob and other movement impairing effects (withcour lack of condi removal we’re gonna stay crippled/chilledvlonger than expected), and obciously reflects.
The only reason rangers are not instant-mashed potatos is ‘Eagle Eye’ that’s our best defensive trait we have in a longbow spec.

Hey, I’m using my phone atm so I’ll keep this short. If you’re new to the game I’d suggest you to pick ele, guardian, or warrior. These classes are simple to learn and are very strong in pvp atm.
Since you said you like mage-type classes, Ele is probably the way to go.
The meta build is 0/0/2/6/6, dagger/dagger, Celestial Amulet, Strength runes, Sigil of Battle + Sigil of Doom, 3 Cantrips as utilities, Signet of Restoration as your healing skill. The build has a lot of survivability but can also deal decent amount of damage.

Yeah brcause other classes’ bursts are on such high cooldown, like backstab, fresh air, mind wrack, whirling wrath, life blast, static discharge/ 10 sec icd on potentially 7 seconds burning, any warrior’s F1.
You’re right, we’re so better than everyone else.

We still can’t win any fight against any slightly skilled medi guard, s/f ele, s/d or d/p thief.
There’s nothing we can beat now that we couldn’t beat before. You all were just no aware if it, since there aren’t a lot of active & skilled power rangers in pvp and wvw.

Honeatly that’s a cool idea but I don’t think it’s GM worthy. We don’t realy care about projectiles with oir 1500 range and point blank shot we can handle other projectiles users just fine. Our top concern is melee.
We can’t realy do anything against a thief or a guardian teleporting in our face, and strider’s defense should adress that issue.
Something like “gain protection and retaliation as long as you attack in melee” or “gain aegis after you dodge” or maybe even both.

Thief isn’t inferior to warrior.
If you’re talking about PvE, then maybe, but I’m pretty sure everyone are inferior to the ele in that case.
If you’re talking about PvP – warriros and thieves doth dominate different roles.
If you’re talknig about not being able to defeat a warrior – Thief can defeat warrior easily with several builds. d/p, s/p and s/d counter warr nicely.

most veteran players complain about same issues as new players including
- lack of game modes/maps
- meaningless leaderboards
- lack of rewards
- balance issues/meta
- skyhammer duhhh
etc.

i didn’t meet a single player that been doing pvp since beta that complained about AP or people getting more rank points; i think for them it is also a plus, since they probably won’t have to pvp for another year to get to dragon…

However Unblockable and 1000 range is way too strong.

If you want it to 100% cleanse, you better add it a support functionality, like applying fury(or might idc) to yourself and allies, which will always work regardless if you hit your foe or not.
1000 range is too much for the GS, 400-600 range would make more sense.

As much as I don’t want to defend Anet on this one I think you missed the whole thing.

AP is not for PvE or PvP or WvW only it is for the game as a whole or to be specifically it is for AP farmer who can play every contents in the game, can you do that or rather would you do that? No you won’t because you would rather play PvP only.

As for reward, everyone should have the right chose whatever fashion they wish to have given enough time. It is incredibly stupid to have to play PvP casually for over 10 years to just to reach rank 80 so that you can buy a T3 armor. On the other hand for veteran PvP players Anet should have something else offer for them for their time playing PvP which is something Anet failed from the beginning. One can only hope they get it right this time.

I Agree ranking up shouldn’t be so slow, and increasing rank gained is a good move. But compensating veteran players is crucial if such move is taken.

AP awards gold, gems, and account bonuses. PvE player’s acounts (not talking about ap farmers) are averagely better to play in, than pvp player’s accounts.
Over the past 1.5 year, a casual PvE player could already get several legendaries, a couple thousands gold, at the very least 8k AP, millions of Karma, minis, endless-tonics, etc.

While a dedicated hardcore PvP player would get 0 gold until the last pvp patch, 0 karma, not more than 3k AP, no legendaries, etc.
The pvp player did get to rank 60-70, which is now a lot easier to do, and would get even easier with the recent patch.
The player did get high-rank pvp gear, that most of it is now available to anyone at any rank via glory.

I’m up for any changes that would encourage PvE players to play PvP, and any changes that would make PvP feel more progressive. But within these changes veteran PvP players should be compensated for not being rewarded before these changes were implemented.

While this is good, it’s a slap in the face for every high-rank player out there.
It makes every player’s rank less significant if it’s easier to get it.
It’s the same thing they did with the new pvp merchant – offering high rank pvp gear to everyone, making it much less prestige.

Since pvp berly rewards any achievement points, the only actual achievement you get is ranks. You’ll see top pvp players with like 3k AP, while top pve players have over 10k.
Why doesn’t ANet compensate high-rank players with this change? It would make sense that every player would -one time only- get some AP based on their current rank:
Rank 10 would get 200 AP, rank 60 would get 5000 AP.

I don’t think it’s fair that people who invested a lot in pvp were not rewarded for it and now their achievements are even less significant.
I don’t think it’s fair that PvE players get so much more AP than pvp players.

Do something about this ANet. Stop punishing veteran pvp players. Compensate veteran pvp players for not being rewarded before these changes were implemented.

Diamond Skin is broken in 1v1, but pretty meh in team fights, unless the opposing team leans more to condition builds.

I think if it would simply add -30% condi duration permanently, it would be much better for team-play, and less such a mega-tryhard counter-build.

maybe even adding it +30% condi duration for more soft cc (chill, blindness) and it might make condi ele more apealing (<—- probably not)

We faced a team with 2 warriors with zerker stance, 1 AR decap engi, 1 Diamond Skin Ele———-
We had: spirit ranger and necro, no chance with all the immunity in this game. NO CHANCE!! Tell me how to counterplay that. Trait > Skill

We had guard / dps guard / d-skin ele / war / necro. Of course we are the ones who play cheesy, of course you outplay us hard but still lose three times and adapting to the oposing setup is a lame strategy, that nobody should ever use right?

Meh, I agree on Diamond Skin being stupid but the timing of this post is just… get off your high horse srsly.
