L2P.. No profession is better than the other one, it’s the player behind the keyboard that controls the character..
Give me a thief, and I’ll suck monkey balls.. Give me a ranger, and I’ll do some mayhem..

That’s why there are a lot of rangers in PVP boards. Because no one except you knows how to play correctly with the class. I see now…

If you fail to use the skills decently and just like to complain about how broken they are.. sigh
Every time I use LB#3 I want to hide.. And guess what? I hide! Don’t be kitten and pull of barrage before going stealth, kitten

Can we overcome this broken mechanics?? Yes. But undoubtedly would be more fun if we could actually focus in the strategy to follow in our attack instead having to think “oh no, i can’t use LB#5 because i could need to use LB#3 in the 15 seconds” or “i can’t choose piercing arrows trait if i’m using a LB”.

This class is about mobility and skirmish as you pointed before and any skill that limit that behavior is just BROKEN.

It’s not broken, what you’re asking for is mindlessly spamming skills with 0 risk.

Yes, if you use barrage you’re not gonna stealth for the next 6 seconds. It’s called " risk vs reward", If you want to be good, you have to plan ahead.

I recommend using Hunter’s Shot before Barrage, to set it up.

Longbow is great even without Eagle Eye and Read The Wind, x/x/6/6/x works great or lb ranger.
0/5/3/6/0 is also an amazing dueling lb build;
Marksmanship is not a must at all for longbow.

Are you fighting npc’s or keyboard turners?

You don’t realy need the range, it’s not like you can maintain 1800+ anyway.
These two set ups are pretty bulky for a zerker build, they don’t have to kite to stay alive.

Marksmanship is amazing at sniping noobs, but not at all a must-have.

I actually use Marksmanship, these days I play 6/5/3 in tourney and 6/2/6 in 1v1. But that’s because it matches my playstyle.

How easy do you want longbow to be? Why do you want ranger to be a low skill floor class?
Imo it’s great that you have to think about how you use your skills tacticly, and not just spam them.

Anyway, you ussually want to channel Barrage in stealth (Hunter’s Shot -> Barrage) so you shouldn’t realy be in the situation of barrage not letting you stealth.
There’s also no reason to be using traps with a longbow build, but even if you do – be smart about it, you always have to think a few steps ahead.

Hunter’s Shot is working as intended, this is a L2P issue.

How easy? That sounds like when steve jobs said “you are not holding the phone right”.

Please spare me the L2P bs. It’s not about how you play is about doing things right. The skill is broken because is does not work as it supposed to be, you use it when you need to hide. Right now you must have too many things in mind thing that take the fun out from playing this class.

As i said this kind of problems you don’t have with other classes. That’s why is easier to play with them and not because the are OP compared to the ranger.
The ranger has many of his mechanics broken: Sword#3 doesn’t hit most of the time, Sword#1 root in place even delaying new commands, you can’t evade when needed.

If i use LB#3 is because i have to hide. Period. If i use Sword#2 is because i need to evade. When this things don’t work reliably we can say the skill is BROKEN. And we have many of this already.

Our skills shouldn’t be perfect for every situation, they should take skill and knowledge to use effectively.
You could also complain about not being able to stealth off blocking/reflecting/dodging/blinding targets;

If you counterplay yourself then you need some more practice, with time you’d be able to use your skills more naturaly and you won’t be revealing yourself with Barrage/traps.

Out of curiosity, how long have you been playing gw2? And how long have you been playing Ranger? What build do you use? What mode do you play? (PvE/WvW/PvP)

But it does if you use LB#5 (same weapon) and then try to use LB#3. Same with piercing arrows. And traps you set like 1 min before.

That is the correct behaviour.. LB#5 is an AoE that takes some time, so you stealth, the next arrow from your barrage hits, and you’re revealed..
Again: stealth is removed when you do damage. That’s the principle, always has been, and always will be (at least in this game)..
Would you expect a thief to be able to stealth after he started his daggerstorm?

It is not the same in this case and as i said we could use the easy programmatically fix as i pointed.
However each class has it’s own mechanics so this could be not applied to any other class because they have utility skills that are actually an attacking one we do not.

The only sources of real damage we have are weapon skills. So for the rangers would be enough to check if any skill from 1 to 5 has being pressed to be revealed.
Our LB#3 only last 3 seconds and with that i don’t think could be OP. Having that control would fix also all this problems about using piercing arrows, barrage or whatever right now make that skill completely BROKEN.

However to fix your assumption with dagger storm would be instead using skills 1-5, using a flag for “damage” skills. So when one of those is activated(pushing the button) the stealth is off.
Then the revealed effect could be used as well for Lightning Reflexes that do some damage when cast (although the damage is so low shouldn’t be there..).

With that they could fix any problem in the future. The Barrage has a cast time of 2 secs and execution time is around 6 seconds.

Does it mean we can’t use LB#3 for all that time?

Same problem with traps. Pet and condition damage is not taken in consideration. Why should be traps? We should be able to set them and be able to hide without the fear that any foe will trigger them and reveal us.

Also please,if any Anet staff is reading this: If we are hidden pet should NOT follow us in any case. They are making this skill completely useless.

At the end, the skill is for so narrowed use that make it mostly useless in most situations.

I doubted his build at first too but it works surprisingly well. Usually when I go against him it’s Rapid Fire dmg on top followed by Bleed pressure dmg. I run SotF in my current build so I got cleanses but still the bleeds keep on ticking.

I think a true hybrid would be much stronger than this.

A single condition isnt going to trouble most opponents.

Something like a x/6/6/x/x celestial lb trapper would provide the kind of condition pressure that really troubles ppl, along with a 5k+ burst from RF.

It would also have a lot more sustain from the ammy.

That would probably won’t have enough of either raw burst or condi to pressure effectively. Not that it even matters, celestial amulet is banned in 1v1.

I’ve dueled with this build quite a bit already, bleeding is either the top damage or 2nd.

And it works because the build is zerker.
The awesone thing is that you don’t care if they’re cleansed or not, you’re a zerker! RF still bursts for 7k-9k on squishies. Your opponent has to deal with 8-16 stacks of bleeding while also deal with your regular heavy raw burst.

It’s very similair to the way medi guard’s pressure with burning, as it is their main source of damage even on zerker.

Generosity is interesting but meh, I rather keep ny raw burst. These small tweaks are just personal preferrences, lots of effective options.

I’m with arnon here. For instance, why entangle over RAO? Sure it’s on a low CD because of the trait, but the small condi ticks are going to make it do paper damage.

Also, not a lot of condition removal here. I would think a condi ranger or condi necro would be very hard to fight.

RaO is completely countered by thieves, mesmers and necros.
Entangle however, is an “I win” button if used correctlg, vs all classes. You use it for the immob, not the bleeds. Although the bleeds will still do considerable dmg.

Note the synergy between Mad King (6), Entangle and Sharpenned Edges. You can stack 12 stacks of bleeds passively.

In pvp, Entangle > RaO any day

Well, it isn’t a secret that power LB ranger is an amazing 1v1 build, especially in the Beach fights.
With that said, your build is just a variation of a standard build, which is very cheezy. Yes, that’s it, power ranger is cheezy as kitten.

Don’t know what’s all the fuss about.

Every zerker works better in the beach, kiting is not unique to ranger – mesmers/thieves/ele’s are all relying on kiting hard and closing the gap when needed.

In todays meta, every build is cheezy, especialy the ones used to 1v1. lb ranger is just one of the annoying ones, although it is far from being the best or cheeziest 1v1 build.

Also, I wouldn’t call 6/2/6 a standard power ranger build, (although it is a strong set up) so far I’ve only seen Kruc using it, and he was relying on stealth/palsma. A completely different play style.

Well Griften, every 6/2/6 build is solid for 1v1s, i just want to know how would you deal with dd eles And I would swap troll for healing spring and off-hand training for vigorous renewal or hide in plain sight, also i think that snow owl would be better than raven.
But anyway, i guess we will have to duel once again in game

Yeah Kruc that’s what I’m saying! 6/2/6 is already solid. If I’d swap off-hand mastery it would be for Shared Anguish or Oakheart Salve, but I know you like playing stealthy xD
I realy don’t want Healing Spring, it just heals thieves, and mesmers remove the regen.. :/

This isn’t a tourney build, so I’m not worried about dd cele heh… Although I think it would be able to pressure it down.
Didn’t test it in tourney yet (in this post I’m recommending it for 1v1’s). I prefer a full glassbow build 6/5/3 lb/gs in tourney, but this can potentialy counter the crap out of cele engi’s without being necro xD

Well I don’t want to actively apply condi pressure. I’m imitatimg medi guard’s and zerk engi’s ability to pressure with burning, without focusing on condi.

I don’t consider my build to be a Hybrid one, it does not depend on bleeding.

I don’t blame you, I was surprised by tge effectivness of the bleeds too.
So to answer your questions:

1) I’m not 70% focused on condi, as I explained. 6/2/6 is a strong power spec all by itself, it’s not realy weaker than other longbow builds in raw damage. 0/6/2/6, 6/0/2/6 are pretty much the same in terms of raw dps.

2) I should have mentioned it, the slot skills are just my personal preferences. You can swap SotH to SoR/Sharpenning Stone/Muddy Terrain/SotW, they all work great with this set up.
I don’t have limited mobility, since I do have swiftness on swap + bird pet, I don’t use SotH for the mobility bonus. I got used to its active effect. 4k Long Range Shot is pretyy sweet, and wolf leap or bird F2 become pretty huge with it too. Again, just my current style.

3) Don’t know what you’re talking about when you’re saying engi’s have a loy of cleanse.. All they have is Healing Turret and a 15sec icd immunity. Not having condi cleanse is engi’s weak point.

You can doubt the build if you want, but I did brought down some other strong folks with it, including Bullet Punch.

I had this idea of having extra pressure while I’m busy kiting/evading.

It’s similair to the way a medi gurad can pressure with burning, but with bleeding.
300 condi damage bleeds are surprisngly effective, especialy against thieves/mesmers/engi’s.

The great thing is that you berly sacrifice raw dps for bleeding application;
Two adept traits for passive bleeding proc,
mad king runes are just a bit less dps than pack, HydroGeo is even higher dps than HydroLeech.
The only thing you’re actually missing is Quick Draw, but w/e :/

Alright, back to 1v1ing!

Odd, theres no Skyhammer builds. All those preppy popular kids not uploading those builds because they enjoy watching you whine about Skyhammer due to getting wreckt by there skills and superior advantage of being able to adapt to another build while many peasants don’t know how to make a build besides copying off a website.

I didn’t say most pf the meta builds are cele, BUT most players use cele builds. Tha fact these are the same 3-4 builds is even worse..

Hello readers, I have to share opinion.

In this thread Im gonna ignore balance, it doesntt have anything to do with the problem in pvp atm.

Im gonna say what I think now so please donnt laugh donnt judge:

The gameplay in pvp has never been THIS passive, and it never lacked the ability to counterplay by THIS much

Im not even talking about rooteteer engi or m&m necro.
Im talking about what makes builds powerful and what often decides fights.

I mean seriously…
Passives that you can’t do anything about:

Air/fire or blood – allows to burst hard without effort/risk, makes spamming AA and skills fast too rewarding. Passive 4k isn’t fun..

Fear procs – it’s actually not that op, but it’s still too effective when doubled together vs the effort (which os none)

IP + balth runes – honestly this is too meow.

Defy Pain and Necro’s chillbains are kinda silly too.

Meow procs – I think it’s pretty obvious.

Instant stuff that you can’t react to:

Steal – too rewarding for something that the enemy can’t avoid on purpose.

Smite Condition & Judge’s Intervention – too much damage for undodgable skills.

Fresh Air ele’s lighrning strikes – way too effective for again undodgable skills.

Corrupt Boon & Entangle – you actually can react to those but they’re not telegraphed enough imo.

Engi’s rifle #4 – 3 sec knockdown + undodgable = too much meow.

And this is all I can write in the time I have.

He said “with great meow comes great responsability”.

Exactly, so let us not waste more time reporting them. as i stated they play for fun, this game must meant to be play for fun. right. given the fact the competitiveness in top tier play(oh wait).

I vowed to him I will use meow to clear the game out of nub buildd.

I told them that, game will never be competitive (maybe in gw3) as long as those pussey exist in this game, they are the real cancer among’s Player vs players. but how dare us to question them if they play for fun and you know such ingame politics (course money involve).

For readers who donnt know my story read ‘Meow in pvp is too much’ I dontt have enogh time for repeats.

So yes, I was very mad cuz no solution, still problem, still meow.
I donn know how he got my mail but he keeps sending me pictures of cats.
I asked my mom for help (donnt laugh please) and she said if someone meows at me I need to learn to meow back.
It lookd like good plan so I askd friend to make me macro to spam the meow playr with my own meow, I call it meowcro (no judge please)
I activait it when I log in and he crush, he logsin again but no he crushed, I let him login after few times cuz Im good guy and I respect goodness much. He told ‘gg’ I said ‘ty + meow’ and he crushed again, I made a dwidwi ele crush cuz its noob, I won all games hard.
This feels of powrr, of meow… Its wrong but Im so angry and its so fun..

Hey guys, I have a few ideas about making necros more favourable to bring in dungeons, and generaly more viable in pve:

1) Spiteful Marks – atm it only increases marks damage by 10%. Added effect: Marks apply 2 stacks of might to allies within the blast radius, up to 5 targets.

2) Staff skills #2 and #5 – Added effect: now these are also blast finishers.

3) Blood is Power – Added effect: the might stacks
are now also granted to nearby allies.

4) All traits that add application of boons when entering Deathshroud, now also grant said boons to nearby allies. This also applies to Shrouded Removal.

With these changes I believe the new necro pve meta would be 6/3/0/0/5.
Necros would be the best group might stacker, and will grant nearly perma group fury.
I know necros would still lack group utility, like reflections, strealth, and unique buffs like banners and spotter. But they won’t waste a slot, they won’t drag the group down.

To other playrs – he was not a cat cats cant play in computers.. He was just player like you and me only he spammed meow and had meow friends.
I tried report but it asks why and I type ‘cuz meow’ it didnt help please give solution to problem….

Hello readers I have to share story.
So yes there has been a certain meow player in the enemy team.
I donn wanna say names becuase I respect privacy much.
Anyway I tried capping mid but he spammed meow in my whisper chat until my client timed out.

You needs to do something about this it’s kinda op and cheating isn’t espatz.
Now inb4 you say me to block him I already did, he had friends whisper me meow too, I can’t even loggin now.

Plz plz fix it bann meow idk why you didnt nerf it since release.

I’m all for making DS more functional. Right now it’s hard to say the class is bad, but it’s almost never a threat to me unless they start the fight with access to DS. When they do have DS, they feel like an unstoppable killing machine. When they don’t, you just gotta be ready to dodge a few dangerous attacks and you’re good. If you have CC it’s almost a joke.

Having DS be more “easy come, easy go” could make the class feel more rounded. What I mean is that it takes less time to gain Life Force, but in exchange you get to spend less time in it. This could be paired with a slight reduction in CD. This could even help with the stability issue a bit because Foot in the Grave could be activated more frequently. It would be like a strange middle ground between adrenaline and Attunments.

They could reduce the maximim LF and increase the rate of generating it… Just a though.

Idk how the typical power necro is ran but for me I use DS for almost 80% of my time and use dagger/dagger with axe/focus (sometimes warhorn) for utility. I also don’t go anywhere near the first 2 trait lines and focus entirely on staying in DS and making sure life blast is buffed up well. Both in groups or in solo it is quite threatening unless against heavy cc or heavy blinds and projectile reflects/blocks since I hit somewhat slow.

Also I would use flesh golem over lich. Not only is lich a big suicide button in most cases, it’s a really long cooldown compared to a (potential) 40 second knockdown which pierces. So many uses for such a skill from combos to stopping a rally, etc.

I switch between the three elites according to my team’s and enemy comps.
Lich is useful for surprise 1 shots.
Plagur is useful to stab stomp and to hold a point until help arrives, or just to being able to survive a burst.
Golem is just a reliabe choice due to the low cd, helpful in 1v1, but it wouldn’t determine team fights.

Flumek – I feel that with 2 wells I’m too easy to hardcounter, and that with no wells I’m lacking in AoE dos.

Rym – That will be GREAT! Exactly what I’m looking for, I’ll contact you in game as soon as I have the time.

Roe – You have a point there, although I have a hard time generating LF without Soul Marks.
That’s just my gameplay style I guess..

Well I can’t realy give up on anything to take Unyielding Blast. The ones I use are pretty mandatory imo.
Corrupt Boon is just too good to not take, burst corruption is so useful in this meta.
Well of Corruption could be added for extra pressure but I don’t want to take more than 1 well at a time.

It’s not realy 67% reduction, that’s just sugaring things up.
You’re assuming several things:
1) DS is ready, off cd.
2) Being hit by multi-hit attacks, like RF (and unlike Backstab or Evis).
3) Protection has not been removed – necros don’t stack a lot of boons, mesmers, thieves, and other necros will easily remove the protection.
4) LF is not full/close to be – mist builds get SA on 50% hp, so they’re not always using it when they need to.

It’s not like endure pain or flesh skin, there no reason to take pressure off, 9/10 it’s more benefical to keep bursting after removing protection, if you can’t remove it you can focus on your CC skills.

I mostly play ranger/warr/mesmer, and I just started maining my very own zerkomancer ;)
Using the common 6/2/0/0/6 spec, although I took “Wrathful Spirit” instead of “Reaper’s Might”, and “Focused Rituals” instead of “Weakning Shroud”.

Decoy ignores ‘revealed’ so I guess you’ll have to fix that, otherwise this change won’t do anything.
