I’m scarred for life now, thanks. I can’t believe you posted that on the forum. Think of the children! Someone show us violent stuff! Quick!
I’ve made a thread before suggesting toggle-able everything. I did argue, however, that if anything seemed appropriate (anything left of the three armor pieces that are not toggle-able) to hide, that it would be the shoes.

…could we possibly get a /thank and /welcome emote? I agree that it’s awesome that various forms of “thank you” are one of the most popular phrases used in Guild Wars 2. Unfortunately, I find myself wary of saying this term out loud, in /say, for fear of triggering the very harsh flood protection. When I find myself on maps for an extended period of time, I often find myself blocked via flood protection for using forms of thank you too often. It would be awesome to have this in an emote form not only so you can thank the person assisting you, but to give public recognition to them also (although a whisper in tell is nice also, but takes a bit more work to put together and is sometimes not as efficient as a /thank @ in the heat of combat).
I know making a custom emote works too, but once again, it takes a bit more time to put that together than a /thank @. I just thought this bit of information revealed at PAX South was pretty cool; why not celebrate it and make it that much easier to spread the love?
No no no!
Okay, maybe. But only if Charr, Asura and Sylvari have the option of having a set of human ears tacked to s headband…
This seems fair and desirable to me.
‘About a month ago’ isn’t really that long ago. I’d like to see these. Actually, I’d like to see more non-armor things added in general. Especially considering the way outfits function now. I want something with some customization to replace my town clothing for off duty clothes for my heavy professions.
Also lagging. Game is entirely unplayable. Took proper measures to make sure it was not on my end.
Now now, we shouldn’t just kick them from our parties because they are Sylvari. What we should do is transport them to their own internment camps!
Female Idle animations readded to the game.
Tribal armor readded to the game.
AKA — Stuff we already had but was removed.
Dunno. I’m still concerned about the content and the quality of whatever is coming next. Comparing S1 and S2, I feel that S1 was much better. I felt like S2 was basically a prelude to Heart of Thorns. I also felt that the protagonist was particularly idiotic throughout the second half of S2.
I need a moment to think.
If you’d like to see the in-game video again, visit the NPC near the entrance to Camp Resolve. He will let you rewatch the final cinematics if you’ve completed the episode.
Great stuff! But would it perhaps be possible (in the future) to add “replay cinematic(s)” buttons to the Story Journal interface?
Pretty please! You can have your Wreath Crown back as payment (no, not really, not ever! <3)
u can talk to the npc in the camp to rewatch it
You don’t say? I’m pretty sure Titus was suggesting the feature be intertwined with the Story Journal for convenience sake…
Its probably a free expansion.
And those people that asked for a paid expansion for the last year and a half will be disappointed anyways because they didnt get what they wanted.
Just chiming in, I would actually be disappointed if it were not a paid expansion. I know a lot of people jumped on the Guild Wars 2 bandwagon because of the lack of subscription fee, but I really don’t see how ArenaNet can create meaningful, complete, well-written, polished, and worthwhile content without charging a fee for their major content updates. Coming from Guild Wars 1 to Guild Wars 2 I was expecting, and more than happy, to pay additional costs down the line for expansion packs. If anything, these Living Story updates prove that an intervention of some sort is needed. I do not believe the quality of these content updates is going to go up until we are ‘forced’ to pay for these updates.
That particular monetization model does not directly equate to quality or quantity in the manner you are suggesting. It’s the same sort of correlation drawn between subscription fees and content/development quality. You can throw all the money you want at some projects and it still won’t churn out the quality/quantity you expect. Not only that, I get the feeling that there isn’t a whole lot of understanding behind how GW2’s current budget is allotted with regard to development. I keep hearing the refrain that all the money coming from the gem store is going back into the gem store, and nothing else. Not quite sure that’s true. GW1 experimented with their no subscription model and found success. Anet now has to prove that their new monetization model is capable of delivering what they want it to (content or otherwise) in order to stay afloat.
Edit: Just wanted to clarify that a free expansion wouldn’t really be free. If the cost isn’t upfront, it’s paid for through another project or form of monetization.
I would honestly just feel they would be a lot more accountable if an expansion were monetized for a specific price. Right now we cannot complain a whole lot since everything we have gotten (or could have gotten) has been free content with the exception of the base game. Right now, I feel like their excuse is: “Oh, well you’re getting this content for free. So it can be low quality.”

It’s just hard to bump threads without actually ‘bumping’ threads. We, as the players, have no new insight into this issue. The development team knows it’s an issue. They know it’s an ongoing issue (as are many things). We just don’t want it to fall through the cracks. This issue has existed for way too long now, in my opinion. It really shouldn’t have been tampered with in the first place since a fix wasn’t remotely ready to be deployed.
It’s going to be very hard to keep track of all the things that have been patched up rather than fixed properly if this is the path that we’re going to go down.
I know I have a very long list of bugs (not counting items missing from the game), and the list is continuously growing while nothing is being marked off. It’s just so frustrating when I, vaguely, know the potential of this game. I say that because many of these bugs are bugs that did not exist immediately at launch. They have manifested themselves over time and continue to do so. I’ve sent in so many reports in game and on the forum and have seen nothing to show for it other than the entire removal of town clothing because I reported some pieces interfering with each other via clipping. While I know the removal of the town clothing system wasn’t because of me (at least I certainly hope it wasn’t), the only bug report I’ve filed (that has been ‘dealt’ with) has ended with the eradication of an entire system I really liked. This is so frustrating.
It’s been a long while since these two idle animations were removed and declared a bug. I think myself and many of the other players would really like to see these return sooner rather than later please. I understand that there have been a long strand of holidays that have slowed the development process; that’s awesome and totally understandable, but can we start fixing things that have been taken away?
I’ve got such a long list of things that have been removed or haven’t been fixed for a very long amount of time; it’s very discouraging… I’ve filled out bug reports for broken armor skins (that look inappropriate, I might add), missing armor skins, mislabeled armor skins, missing animations and etc.
I can’t do any more as a player other than be that annoying mosquito that buzzes in your ear every so often. Can some of these things please start being addressed and looked at?
There is a global attack going on right now. Blame internet terrorism. Once that subsides, our issues should subside. Unfortunately, the selfishness of Internet terrorists that proclaim themselves to be “saviors” is the real issue". Wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Is that what is going on at the moment?
Did you try dancing in front of the statue?
Yep! He’s still sour that even after dying and being reincarnated, I still have more style than he does. He’s obviously jealous.
Why does Abbadon hate dancing so much? You would think after 250 years, give or take, he’d get over it! He is NOT the champion of dance, and that is why he plays dirty!
My immersion is broken when Rytlock jumps into the ghost hole in one of the LS instances! I don’t like seeing my character spaz out in the background!
Awww. I thought they’d leave the vendor in somewhere for an extra patch cycle of two weeks like they sometimes do. Can there be a stale candy corn vendor? Candy corn gets better with age!
To round out this discussion:
I believe that Djinn hit the nail on the head: Disabling the animations globally took far less time than re-implementing them individually will require.
To answer Kolompi’s question (if I’m understanding it properly), designing, testing, and implementing new animations takes a long time. It was judged more prudent to disable the existing animations (and work on having them function selectively) than to reposition team members into the process of redesigning them.
And again, the animations will be back in the future.
“It was judged more prudent to disable the existing animations” because in some dialogs it was strange. Looks like a bad judgment to me.
Maybe rephrase that as strongly disagreeing with that judgment. Some people get really annoyed by such things; some people don’t. Whatever decision ANet made was going to be unsatisfying for a ton of folks and merely the lesser of evils for others. Better that there hadn’t been any bug, of course, but once there was one, ANet was left with choosing between really annoying and terribly annoying; I don’t see that they could have done much better than what they have done: compromise.
All I wish is that they had removed and fixed the animations within the same patch. No sense taking half measures and all that.
I’m sorry, but I can’t even see how those animations would be sexual. You’re a hardcore adventurer and you got a crink in your back. you stretch. You’re boredly looking around and fidget with a stone under your boot. What’s wrong with that?
Question: do we have any proof that they were first removed because of sexual issues? Or is that all just speculation?
Speculation. Since one crazy theory is as good as the next when it comes to why these were removed in the first place. When there is no reasonable conclusion, it leaves only the unreasonable. And, no, I don’t buy that a very small handful of people complaining about them in cutscenes was reason enough to remove them entirely.
I found the origin thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/lwd/Default-Character-Animations-Spoil-It-All
It’s so annoying that a handful of people got these removed for everyone else. If they’d removed them and then fixed them immediately, sure. But they removed them and now there’s no ETA on when they’ll be back in? I don’t understand why this was a high enough priority to remove or tamper with in the first place.
Thank you for the update! Hopefully these can be readded in sooner rather than later…
I’m just surprised the animations got changed in the first place on what was seemingly the whims of a minority. Even for forum standards. It seems to me it’s caused more of an issue than what it has fixed, but yeah. It’s definitely negatively impacted my general experience, if not perception of the company (once again) also.
Scarlet killed Abaddon.
Not fixed in today’s patch :’(
I’ve opened 400g worth of bags and the best thing I’ve gotten was two mini zuzu cats.
I’ve opened about 4,700 ToT bags now and the best thing I’ve gotten was one cat. I haven’t even gotten any of the exotic jewels that change your color.
You can’t be running low on funds since you’re pushing the gem store harder than ever.
Speaking of which, I haven’t bought anything from the gem store in forever since I haven’t played in forever. Why would I?
Next mystery of the world? Perhaps the Loch Ness Monster next? Cowlicks?
If the Eternal Alchemoose has survived this long, I’m sure these animations can make a come back too.
I’ve opened over 2,000 trick-or-treat bags and haven’t gotten one, so I have no thoughts.
At least this is something!
I will see if I can follow up on this. I may not get an answer today, since it’s Friday night, but I will see if there’s any info on this to share.

Thank you very much; have a good weekend!
The “gemstore garbage” outfit is pretty amazing.
Your opinion.
I really wanted the animations to be fixed in this patch; is it still on the radar?
Edit: I’m tired of having to argue with this company to get back things that are removed. Town clothing, Gem/Gold custom conversions, and now animations.
Just like “garbage” was your opinion and pretty irrelevant too like you pointed out so why bring it up in the first place?
Because you set out to correct me and claim that the outfit was nice? You can’t correct my opinion. I’m glad you like the outfit, but I don’t like that 1. They’re whole outfits and 2. Neither come with a toy. They’re charging the same price for inferior products. If that’s not lazy, what is it?
I digress. I’m tired of things being taken away. And as someone pointed out earlier, the dirt kicking animation is also gone — it’s not just the stretching animation that is missing.

Recycle Bin has to eat too.
This was my first year seeing the Halloween event and i love it, BUT the 2012 Halloween weapon skin lottery is really killing it for me, since i’ve always wanted a few of those skins and now it feels more a mockery or trick to get me to buy gems for the wrappers so i can up my chances. To that end, i’m very close to quitting this game entirely. I can’t delve into that more without inviting the banhammer, so i’ll leave at that.
You’re not alone in considering the quit route. As soon as Halloween passes and takes the clock tower and inquisition with it, I am gone and heading to TSW. I hear it’s Halloween event is pretty nice.
The Secret World is amazing. The developers actually care and interact with their community regularly. They have monthly Game Director newsletters that they deliver on so you can see where the game is going. None of this “It’s company policy to not tell you everything we aren’t working on” stuff. Their “gem store” doesn’t nickel and dime you to death.
Funcom’s The Secret World team went through severe downsizing shortly after the game launched, and they still manage to put out just as much content, if not more, than GW2. While I don’t think The Secret World’s first Halloween was better than Guild Wars 2’s first; I feel TSW has upped their quality where GW2’s has greatly diminished and continues to deteriorate.
… This isn’t going to be fixed any time soon.
I thought it was just extra work because of potential clipping.
Bingo.
Is horrendous treatment of the player base a recurring theme with this game?
Pretty much, yes. Guild Wars 1’s ArenaNet was much more professional than… Whatever this is.
It’s tragic. Greed and laziness seem to have taken over.
The core game is great, but there is a lot wrong with how they handle pretty much everything.
I don’t mean to come off as aggressive or rude, but I have a giant list of things about this game that irks me, and it only gets worse. The sad thing is that a majority of my problems are with what they’ve taken away; not what they haven’t delivered. For example, this new gem conversion stuff. I have a giant list, but I don’t want to continue ranting (more or less).
By Ogden’s hammer! The new player experience strikes again!
I don’t like the changes. It really wasn’t all that confusing before in my opinion.
It sacrifices function for unnecessary “user friendliness”.
I will drown and die in the new player experience.

Please… What’s going on with the lack of this dungeon? I know in 2012 it opened closer to Halloween. But since this patch is just Blood and Madness again, I’m feeling fairly confident that we won’t see the dungeon again this year.
Why?
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. This game-breaking scourge of a bug shall be fixed immediately.
Looks nice, but not as an outfit. Also, I think it’s pretty funny that the new outfits that have been coming out never include costume brawl weapons anymore. And they’re the same price as the old outfits!
They’re not going to bring them back. Probably because they make more money from people buying and converting gems into gold to get them than just gambling them through the chests.
I hate being right sometimes. But, hey! More gem store garbage. Oh, and no Halloween 2012 skins because they probably make an absolute killing on desperate people converting gems into gold to get them.
I can say with 100% confidence they did not fix this bug.
- Holiday event (beloved holiday event) tomorrow
Shadow of the Mad King?
Please say there can be some combination of the 2012/2013 Halloweens to bring back Ascent to Madness and the backpiece scavenger hunt for those that missed it. I know the decision isn’t yours to make; it’s just Shadow of the Mad King blew away Blood and Madness in every aspect possible, in my opinion.
1. The lore and scavenger hunt were a ton of fun. It pushed you to visit places that you’d normally never go. I know I’ve never been back to the catacombs in Bloodtide Coast since 2012. It also, obviously, enriched Tyria with some nice juicy history.
2. Beating up on Mad King Thorn in Ascent to Madness while playing Mad King Says. I mean, really. Amazing and fun stuff. The dungeon disappeared without a word in 2013.
3. The Labyrinth not being overly snare happy (Immobilization was changed to stack with Blood and Madness) and the bosses not being ultra damage sponges.
4. The failed Mad King cutscene that didn’t render for me, but I still remember it fondly.
5. Debatable, but I liked the Clocktower jumping puzzle in 2012 because I could see other players in their normal attire while we attempted it. It was a bit cluttered, sure, but I found it entirely hilarious when a big meaty Norn fell to their demise as opposed to some faceless wisp. It was really like watching a horror movie where people were slowly being picked off. If I also remember correctly, you couldn’t queue with friends in 2013’s edition. Another deal breaker.
I resented Blood and Madness for taking all these things away from me (and other players).
People do seem to forget how much rage there was about that very dungeon during the actual release.
There wasn’t any rage about the dungeon besides it being so limited, if I recall correctly. The most amount of rage definitely came from the introduction of Black Lion Weapons. Now, that’s just a regular accepted occurrence.
The way this page reads it made me feel like you dont even want to do holidays and that its “Interfering” with you Living Story…
I’m glad I’m not the only one that gets this impression. Typically they do a teaser two weeks before content launches. Any content. So today, the day before their Halloween content starts, there is still no post specifically made to hype up Halloween. There’s a post advertising MOAR LIVING STORY.
I keep saying this everywhere, but 2012’s Halloween was vastly superior compared to 2013’s. You should totally look up some videos of it, since it will never be coming back, apparently. Although that may make you extremely sad like me. Anyways, I hope you enjoy it!

I sort of liked whooping the Prince.
All 30 seconds of it! If even that.
