I like this jumping puzzle the way it is. I actually don’t like that mesmers can just portal people to the caches, but that is whatever I guess. The puzzle is easy to learn with a bit of patience, trial and error, and persistence. It’s not for everybody.
Thank you! Now how about those female human idles?
Bye bye GW2! Helloooooooooo Heart of Thorns!
Is the Door Guard Eian broken? He won’t give me the dialogue to enter anymore.
I am hoping that this is their way of addressing the Ricochet situation (with a really bad excuse) because thieves will be getting a gunslinger-esque specialization and they can’t reveal it yet.
Just want to clarify since I saw this come up a couple of times in this thread and we haven’t actually released our full official patch notes for 6/23 yet….
Ascended Gear will be staying 5% better than Exotic Gear. Gear beyond the tiers we already have are not going to be added and our existing tiers won’t change, they won’t be our main end-game form of progression for your characters/account for all the reasons we’ve covered before – it isn’t what we think Gw2 is about.
Masteries is being added to PvE to help provide this system as our form of progression for PvE moving forward, and the WvW ability system exists for WvW and will be what we use to expand WvW in the future.
To more directly answer some of your point….We are adding a system that lets you change the stats for your ascended gear (weapons and armor) next Tuesday – which will cost a combination of 10 spirit shards, piece you don’t want anymore, 5 ectos, and an exotic insignia of the stats you want to convert to. Legendary Gear will remain the gear that can freely change stats any time.
-CJ
(Edited to clarify weapons and armor)
You rock harder than my Mini Rock! That’s a compliment!
My biggest problem with this change is that I would have to have multiple ascended pieces to have different outfits. Or I would have to spend a small fortune in transmutation stones.
My other biggest problem with this change (>.>) is that I do not see why this change is necessary in the first place? Can this not wait until Heart of Thorns when the armor is supposedly easier to obtain? This is a bad time to be stirring this boiling cauldron! Can we try to keep the peace for awhile before implementing this? Or are we going for a full out purge right now?
Well, in my opinion, there are good ways to go about things and bad ways to go about things. I think you can express your discontent here in a positive and friendly way; that will also help the developers take you more seriously rather than just raging at them. Anyways, good for you for realizing that!
Hopefully the rage will subside and turn into more constructive criticism. I’m also worried about morale at this point. It makes me sad to think of how happy Colin was giving the presentation and what he may possibly be like now with so much rude negative feedback. The developer team just seems so nice.

if you look at the world through the cold cynical eyes of economics
You rang?
What’s worse than the marketing department looking at the world through the cold cynical eyes of economics?
What?
The consumers looking at the world through the cold cynical eyes of economics.
HAHAHAHA. oh god.. it’s like ANET is going out of their way to lose respect. these prices are just silly.
Can’t wait to see the white Knights justify how this meager expansion costs more than the GW1 full Campaigns +2 character slots.
First off, how old is GW1? How long ago was that? Are you completely mental?
But no, I’m not justifying anything. I don’t need to justify anything. I really hope that none of you people complaining about the price buy it. I will personally be happier in my life and my gaming if I never see you in the heart of maguuma. Please do not purchase this. It’s too much for you.
I just bought it. It isn’t about being happy about the price. I expected it to be less as well, but whatever. I was going to buy it anyway. So I got the Ultimate Edition, and I can justify it to myself because the gem cost of all the add ons makes the cost of the game seem less. That’s to me, and I’m really the only person who matters where my purchases are concerned.
I will personally be happier in my life and my gaming if I never see you in the heart of maguuma. Please do not purchase this. It’s too much for you.
GW2, home of the friendliest community in the MMO scene…
Oh we’re extremely open and welcoming. That’s friendly. This isn’t about being welcoming, this is not listening to the QQing of the people who are already here.
Well don’t listen to it, then? No one is asking you to come into this thread and defend the price and be rude to others. You can express yourself in a kinder fashion, yes? I know you can!
As for me, I’m holding off on pre-purchasing in hopes that they will substitute the base game for a character slot. That will make me happy. Or maybe have it where if you “upgrade” your current account that it will automatically add a character slot.
Well then, I suppose it’s worthwhile that I never defended anything. I’m being no more rude than anyone else. If anyone here thinks that coming and complaining about the price will make any difference or saying they’re getting kicking in the gut, they’re hugely mistaken. It’s just as much my right to say that you’re complaints about the situation are unnecessary as it is for you to come and complain in the first place. And if you don’t like seeing someone say that, then I will throw it right back in your face, you don’t have to come here and read it.
Having a difference of opinion isn’t a free pass to call people “completely mental”. Nice try. Also, the general flavor of your posts are toxic. You may want to reevaluate how easily you are tormented if others buying a game ruins your day so easily. Goodbye.
I dislike the tone of the original post, but as far as a warning goes I think they should consider it. They have warnings for in game mail that is not sent from Anet; they may want to consider adding a similar warning for Unique items.
Why were posts that expressed concern for these changes merged into the “I really like the dash/leap changes. [merged]” thread?
That’s pretty one-sided, isn’t_it? If we’re going to merge these discussions, shouldn’t there just be one topic with a more neutral name? Rather than an “I like” topic (with posts merged into it that dislike the changes?) and a handful of “I don’t like it” topics floating around?
There are plenty of opinions against dash changes in this thread… This is not a “Wow, Thx Arenanet for this feature” thread, its a discussion to talk about how wrong/right are the upcoming changes related to leap skills, and that title hides that in a pretty convenient way -__-
Yes, that’s why I recommended that the thread title change. And, look, (as if by some sort of magic) it is now changed!

(provided you play a profession that has access to one)
This is the part that I feel is a bit unfair about this. Necros would like a word with the developers. In my humble, worthless, and only somewhat educated opinion, I do not like this mobility change.
I have the same issue. Maps are taking longer to load than usual.
Hello! Love the new Dwayna outfit, but would it be too much to ask if we could have a port of the Dwayna costume from Guild Wars 1 too, please?
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Dwayna_Costume
I got super excited when I read the Dwayna’s Regalia was in the gem store. The new outfit looks nice, but it wasn’t what I was hoping for. I’m sure many others would love to see the return of this outfit too! Pretty please? Maybe for Wintersday since we got the Lich outfit ported for Halloween last year?
I wish it looked like the Dwayna’s Regalia from Guild Wars 1. Oh well.
This. 1000% this. I appreciate the new one is based on the Dervish Avatar (which means it’s still pretty cool), but when I saw “Dwayna’s Regalia” I was thinking it was time to finally buy some more gems, as the original GW1 costume of that name is far and away my favorite. Oh well, maybe some day ANet will re-name this to what it is – Avatar of Dwayna – and give me the REAL Dwayna’s Regalia… I can wish, right?
It was only “Dwayna Costume” in GW.
No, it was not. The costume had two parts, the headpiece called “dwayna’s diadem” and the outfit called “dwayna’s regalia”
My bad. Never bought it myself, just only saw it as “Dwayna Costume” in the store.
It was a Wintersday release costume if I remember correctly. Maybe if we ask really nice-like we can get a port of it like they got the Lich Outfit
I wish it looked like the Dwayna’s Regalia from Guild Wars 1. Oh well.

I was becoming concerned that it would be late fall or winter before we got the expansion. So this is potentially good news for me, although I will take their advice and not get too excited until an official release date is announced (a summer verification isn’t necessarily all that exciting anyways).

NEW LAND…. NEW LAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He still has a job because the queen isn’t dead yet.
I wish her death comes soon.
Hope Mordramoth can does the job.One can only hope that in an attempt to make us hate the new dragon, Anet will have it kill the queen.
It’s interesting how so many NPCs who are clearly supposed to be sympathetic characters are hated by players.
How is Jennah supposed to be sympathetic? And I don’t think a majority of players dislike her at all (not that you claimed a majority do).

Because it takes time to mobilize people and they didn’t have enough time to get enough people. They just barely caught both guys in the act. If you know about stuff early enough you can rally your forces. If you have to run out the door NOW, by the time your rally them it’s too late.
One me was enough to save the orphanage. One Logan, or Anise, or, pretty much, anyone should have been enough to save the hospital (or vice versa).
One Luke Skywalker was what it took to destroy the death star, but no one else could have done it. Welcome to heroic fantasy.
Our characters are mere peasants compared to the other powers at work in the Guild Wars universe, though. We’re very novice (maybe adept) level. It’s a game and fantasy (obviously), but surely there would have been another intervening factor such an actual situation like this presented itself within the confines and parameters of this universe.
What? I don’t know about you, I was the Hero of Shamoor. When Luke Skywalker destroyed the deathstar, he’d yet to train with Yoda. Just saying.
Maybe :p Try taking on Jennah, Logan, Eir, Trahearne, or most other actual threats by yourself and see what happens.
The only time I ever found Logan useful, actually useful, was in the story mode of CoF.
None of them may necessarily be useful, but they’re all labeled as “Legendary” and probably have a billion hit points. If nothing else they’d probably just laugh at you as you swatted at them for hours at a time.
Logan is pretty incompetent, though. It’s… REFRESHING.

I wish they’d add a chair similar to the broom and magic carpet. It could be rooted in place. Maybe have two or three different chair sitting poses to make up for the lack of mobility to make it more appealing.
BUT NOPE.
We got mail carrier skins instead.
I like this thread. To be fair, if the bandits want to get out of buildings they can apparently just warp outside of them somehow :p
It wasn’t glitchy, the pvp wardrobe was like how the wardrobe is now. Just in like a test form.
Tribal Armor was named Masquerade because Tribal was taken for what you now know as Primitive. And what is now Masquerade was named something entirely different.
Anyone who wanted these skins, should have known back then PvP and PvE were completely seperate, and should have workes torwards ‘PvP Masquerade’.I don’t see anyone who actually PvP whinge, they would have made this set because it looks so good… Apparently.
Uh, how is that not glitchy? Items that were titled Masquerade and had the Masquerade icon unlocked Tribal armor. They even fixed the icon and name later because it was a glitch. But they fixed it after the tribal armor was attainable.
Anyways, I’m done arguing with you all. They said they’re bringing it back eventually (and a much earlier Reddit post said it would most likely be through SPvP anyways, so).
Edit: I love the two people freaking out and posting multiple times (to no one specifically) to try and keep this from happening. It’s like they’re entering some hot sweat at the thought of other players obtaining this armor eventually.
(edited by DarkOcean.8746)
In that case can I request all the HoM skins be sold or obtainable ingame without actually having to get ANY achievements from GW1 plz pretty plz cuz im begging and I am too lazy to play GW1. Im pretty sure many more want the titles and skins from HoM then a pvp armor set plz sell it in the market becuz I want to get everything the easy way and becuz I know u guyz will make tons of monies from selling these skin plz pretty plz on the cherry on top! Becuz everything should be obtainable to everyone and I didn’t know tht if u played GW1 that GW2 will hav such awesome sauce prizes pretty plz add those skins in GW2 for everyone to gets!
Notice how annoying that is?
Except no one is talking like that (except you) and Guild Wars 1 is still a perfectly functional game. You could easily have unlocked all the skins (30/50) in the Hall of Monuments for how long the Tribal Armor has been completely unattainable. Even if they made the HoM skins available through Guild Wars 2 I wouldn’t care; the skins aren’t that great and we’ve had our exclusivity to them for long enough.
ITT people thinking they’re special and solely entitled to tribal armor because they obtained and were allowed to keep a glitchy skin(s).
It looks like a lot of what you want would promote a toxic community.
In my opinion, we don’t need: A world channel stirring up drama; although we could turn it off (hopefully), there’s really no need for it. We don’t need player imbalance in SPvP; there’s no sport, to me, in killing players that are disadvantaged. You can go to WvW for that. I’m glad there’s no mob tagging, personally; although I agree the PvE content is lacking, I don’t believe that to be due to mob tagging. As far as leveling goes, I’m glad it’s easy, but there needs to be more meaningful and difficult PvE content post-80.
I would like to see GvG make a return. PvP in the open world (even if only by duels) could be exciting granted it occurs in a way that does not disturb those not wanting to participate (again, I’m against killing other players for the sake of killing other players; it’s not fun stomping others into the ground and doing so promotes toxicity — especially if they’re just trying to go about their business).
For example, armor sets are now exclusively designed as in-game rewards while outfits are primarily Gem Store offerings.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/hidden-arcana-developer-spotlight-on-crystin-cox/
That explains a lot. Ok, then. As long as we see a lot of armor skins added in HoT I’ll be happy then. Also, bring tribal armor back please.
(edited by DarkOcean.8746)
I like their design as is.
Yay for necro threads.
When the wardrobe patch hit, some of us pvp’ers who knew there were a few pvp only obtainable armors, knew that these would not be obtainable after the patch hit, so we made the ones we wanted.
Personally, I don’t think legacy armors should be available to buy or be easy to obtain. I hope they make it hard to get all pieces, similar to how it was originally obtained (RNG pvp forging or boxes). An RNG reward track in pvp for certain armors would fit just right.
This is pretty much THE tribal armor thread since it has multiple developer responses pertaining specifically to tribal armor.
I’d be on board for this, though. The reason I didn’t even try to obtain this set was because it was incorrectly labeled masquerade (it also had the masquerade icon). I didn’t like SPvP a whole lot at the time, and I wasn’t going to waste my time grinding for something I was almost sure would be turned into a yuck yuck armor set (masquerade).
I really want this armor to come back and I don’t really care how (although I don’t think it should be Legendary armor, or such, were such a thing to happen).
… did something happen here?
Yes. They “fixed” it.
I’m having very high latency issues too. The ping keeps spiking from double digits to 500, sometimes 1,495, and then going back down to double digits for a very brief time (a matter of seconds). It then spikes back up. The game is unplayable. Please look into this.
EDIT: I’d like to clarify the latency issues, for myself anyways, started BEFORE the patch hit today.
(edited by DarkOcean.8746)
I assume it would be the purpose of trying to sound arrogantly intelligent but falling short of your mark. But this has gotten wildly off topic; you just don’t get what I’m saying. People above this post have already explained it enough ways anyways.
Let’s just say I do not get what you or the above poster is saying; at least I have submitted that there can be a difference of opinion. I still think I am right, but I know that I do not have to resort to last-ditch efforts to insult someone to try and make a valid point. You cannot say the same. You resort to bigotry.
We’ll have to agree to disagree. Economics 101 summarized: Nothing is free. Scarcity in resources. Productions costs. Time. Recuperation of expenditures. Profits.
That’s pointlessly philosophical, and I study economics. You are twisting definition to make a point that serves no purpose to the discussion. “Free” has been very clearly used to refer to monetary compensation from the very beginning of this argument.
I don’t see how you could call the fundamentals of economics pointless and philosophical. That’s very dismissive.
Funny thing is, it’s currently impossible to pay directly for this free content. Anet doesn’t even accept donations. What you are paying for is gems, a digital product of no monetary value. More directly, gems are a medium that allow you to pay for outfits, bank slots and stuff unrelated to the free content released periodically.
So, Anet releases this content at a loss, and relies on cosmetic stuff and account upgrades to make up for those losses.
You are trying to split up their revenues and their costs. That method isn’t applicable. That’s like saying that when I buy gems some of that money does not go into salary. It’s a system, and everything is part of that system. There is not an outfits system, a bank expansion system, a character slot system, a toys system, etc. It is all together as one. One helps to pay for the other and so forth.
Also, there is no country that has freedom of speech on the internet. So it doesn’t really depend on one’s country they’re currently in or even their country of origin; this is because such a thing does not exist in the first place. However, that is neither here nor now.
The fact that a site is privately owned doesn’t mean they have the right to suppress your rights, no more than you have the right to hold someone prisoner against their will in your own house, because they were visiting. Like you said, though, not here.
Of course they have the right to suppress your “freedom of speech”. Freedom of speech is not applicable on the internet. Moderators suppress this “right” all the time.
Considering you haven’t had to pay a cent after initially buying the game because you could purchase everything with in-game gold converted to Gems for 3 years, a $50+ price tag is more than reasonable. They can’t just keep making new content for free forever.
Oh yes, because no one has ever bought anything with real money other than the retail game.
I haven’t. Other than the box price, I haven’t paid an additional cent since.
And your point?
How can I be exaggerating? And for what diabolical purpose are you accusing me?
You say, “They can’t just keep making new content for free forever”.
I say there’s no such thing as a free lunch.I don’t really know how else to put this and I’m tired of repeating myself.
For every person that chooses to pay, there are 10 that don’t. Obviously this is a made-up number, but it’s a fact there are a great number of people that enjoy the content released for free. The price they paid to buy the game doesn’t even offset the cost of the strain they put on the servers over time.
It’s simple mathematics, and it comes down to whether those that willingly pay spend enough to cover for those that don’t spend a single cent.
Since Anet decided to realise this content as a b2p expansion, they believe gem sales alone would not cover the development costs.
Just because some people may enjoy the content for free does not mean that the content was created “free”. How do you people not grasp this concept? How much content do any of you think we would have now without the gem store? Do you all honestly think we would have gotten things like Season 2 without a vital revenue stream such as the gem store? This free content was not free.
What do you even try to say by “created free”. Developing the content costs resources, “free” refers to whether anyone asks you for compensation to allow you access to it.
So yes, it is free. Any one who has purchased the game has the right to access the released content for free, that is for no additional charge. This is what free means.
Whether Anet got their money back, and where they fit it from is unrelated. If I give you a free sandwich, it doesn’t matter who, if anyone, paid for it. For you, it’s a free sandwich.
Welcome to freedom of speach.
Freedom of “speech” does not extend to private forums. No offense. Just pointing this out.
That actually depends on your country of origin. I was being sarcastic though.

I don’t think anyone said Anet is only operating on the money received from people buying the game alone.
The top quote implies that they’ve been making content for free, forever (it actually just blatantly says just that). This is only superficially true. To me they have not been making new content for free, ever. When I spend money on gems, some/most/all of that money is (hopefully) being cycled into development costs and employee paychecks. Both of which, in turn, make this “free content” a reality.
Oh yes, because no one has ever bought anything with real money other than the retail game.
Choosing to buy things from the gem store isn’t the same as “having to pay”. You can get by just fine in-game without spending a single penny on the gem store.
Why do people keep saying this? “You don’t have to pay!” Well, no, you don’t. No one has to pay! In practice, though, how many people do you really think do gold->gems VS pulling out their credit card/paypal?
I’m going to be upfront. I’m part of the second group. And I buy gems with real money fairly frequently. The reason I do this is because if I were to ever do gold->gems I could not live with myself knowing how lopsided the exchange rate is. If I ever do gems->gold after having done gold->gems, I’d just be shooting myself in the foot.
So, no, they’re not living on nothing other than the core game. It’s absolutely preposterous to think they haven’t made any money off the gem store and that people only do gold to gems.
And hence my point: They’re not “making new content for free forever”.
