The only way for SoR or BG to beat JQ is to quit the bickering and constantly push JQ week after week. It wont matter who comes up to T1, JQ has superior numbers to put on 2 fronts, have people watching towers/camps and scout the enemy. JQ will gladly sit back and let the bickering continue knowing that at the weeks end they will win by 40k+

TBH This is not a easy since both BG and SoR consider the other as a weaker enemy.(comparing with JQ)
I do enjoy fighting with JQ. But when you lead 1/3 manpower of the server, you have to think abt ppt instead of looking for pure fun. Its not rational to hit the tough rock when you dont have too many chips on hand.

For the last three hours I mainly attacked BG at EBG. Not because I hate BG or afraid JQ. Just because it makes sense.

I was there in EB. I know its not easy, but if your allowing JQ to have half the map while the other 2 forces fight for 1/4 of the map it only extends JQs lead. The only way to take the lead is to constantly attack the lead, otherwise SoR/BG is playing for 2nd

This in a nutshell . It would take an actual alliance to beat JQ at this point. Problem is 3rd place would really get the shaft

I agree that we should really lay off the 2 v 1 post . Being blue by design is going to lend itself to 2 v 1. That’s what sucks about being in the middle. 1st place is trying to stay first while 3rd place is trying to stay in tier. This is as about as close as these match ups are gonna get . I don’t see SOR being able to match Jqs coverage even with their new transfers and Bg won’t be pushed out of tier anytime soon. So lets just take all this pressure off and go back to having fun. Things are settling down finally so there should be some good fights to be had in the future

I uhhh, kind of went in to troll mode on one of your BG brethren from oPP. I got guildies that actually have field respect for them. So just ignore the trash that I’m currently spewing. I kind of took it personal when I read “JQ always runs.”

My guild members are just getting frustrated of seeing people run away from fights. It’s world vs world, why would people not want to engage in a fight? Specially when the numbers are equal or slightly in their favor?

We have to look hard and long to find good fights in tier 1 and most of those fights that we find are where we are heavily outnumbered. Our group runs around for more than 10 hours a day in WvW and it’s actually tough to find good fights at the moment.

Specially [Emp] is notorious for running home to get a gun after losing a knife on knife fight.

I respect EMP . They aren’t the best in open field but kitten can they multi task defenses if they have to

Why are we still discussing 2 v 1? We are on course for some role reversal soon , discuss it after you have seen both sides. Unless you are JQ , you can continue to enjoy the view from the top!

I think if it wasn’t for Bg’s great community and guild comradery , alot of us would have transferred off already . Most of our guilds like small, coordinated, multi group combat and T1 is just a skill lag inducing mega zerg mess. The very lack luster “wvw update” just made the problem even worse . With SOR getting more guilds it is going to compound it because that’s their whole meta. It just adds up to an over all lack of interest. One thing I know for sure. If Bg ever drops tier , we won’t sink like the rock of SOS and no one will be transferring back to this garbage.

Uhh no, there was no ballistas in sight and I wasn’t actively being hit by siege. Also please tell me where you would even place a ballista outside that would those arrow carts, nice try though. This was a number that kept going up and finally stopped at 20k before the siege was gone. It was a cumulative hit ability, not ballista. And it was done to every cart/cannon on that wall so this wasn’t a random occurrence.

Amazing how many hours and time BG has to pour into WvW just to stay competitive in T1. Everyone claimed SoR went out in force last week but in reality we played normal hours on a normal schedule and still beat BG. JQ on the other hand lost one week from the try-hard BG and went out in force last week, but the end result I’m sure showed JQ’ers that its not even required to go full force to take BG out. I’m starting to think that BG as a server does not understand how the elo system works, when you push for 1st and then come back the week after and not maintain the same ppt/end result, you end up losing points. This week it looks as if they are gonna push for 1st again, which again makes no sense with the current system because they will not be able to maintain 1st in t1 with JQ around. Might be time for BG to start playing smart, and within there own limts. At this point BG is shaping up to be the next server to burn themselves out with all this try-hard they are doing. Hint the fact JQ and SoR are taking bets on how long BG can survive in T1

Are you sure its a small guild issue and not a small commander issue? There was a point this weekend when we were losing all our stuff to enemy zergs on BGBL while we had 4 commander tags running around splitting our forces. A commander tag isn’t required to flip camps with your guild. That said we love our small guilds! If you want to be a bigger player on a smaller server more power to you tho!

- You’re not using the pletora of skills at your disposal, Hell, you’re trying to run away from fights sometimes without swiftness when you got ragesig all charged up. Using a no-target rush for mobility is something i have not seen in the whole vid.

- Using a shield for the stun, not even using the 3 second block when you’re closing up to 2 guys using ranged against you…

You still have a lot of playmanship finesse to learn, but i guess it’s a good start.

They can be tough as they want, but if they got some dramas with the other guild or the server itself – They won’t last. And thats what just happened. They might be a good server, but without a strong community and nope nope they wont last in the long run.

This is exactly what I expected. Blackgate lacks a solid community. They are numbers, and nothing more. Expect well… now they’re badges and gold.

We have a great community, and the few guilds we had transfer meshed like they were always there. But at the end of the day we play VIDEO GAMES to have fun , some peoples priority is having fun over virtual friends with the time they have from real life to spare . I will log into a job I don’t like for awhile because it pays my bills. I won’t do that for a video game. That being said , I doubt any guilds are transferring and I’m going to stick it out hoping the meta changes like vodka said

If they do its probably because they know now that fixing culling had no effect on making huge zerg ball skill lag fest anymore fun. Being first rewards nothing and coverage trumps all, so why go through it

I agree with the op. I don’t think they are broken, but they could have waited till the culling fix before they thought about nerfing stealth. It’s hard enough to get past all the defensive buffs and into position to do any damage .

I think that old games get looked at through rose tinted glasses too many times. With that said , I agree that the game seems to promote zerging but it does offer the tools to zerg bust. My guild frequently goes 20 vs 40+ with the proper use of push / pulling, choke points, balistas , guardian walls ,necros, water and blasts etc etc . We don’t always win, but it feels good when we do.

So what you’re saying is that we should ALL go to those builds, and pigeonhole ourselves in to remaining viabilities, rather than implore Arenanet to give us build variety that we crave, especially when one of our entire traitlines is based around said stealth, and that tree needed more selfless buffs to begin with.

As for darkjoy, is blast finishers your answer for everything? Is that all Thief is to you? A Blast dispenser? Sorry, I like my Thief to be capable of multiple things at once. I quite enjoyed being a blind/daze control-based front-line fighter, absorbing a good portion of potential damage while knocking key mobs out of commission and reducing the threat to the team in a good radius around my person. That build isn’t completely kitten at it stands, but it’s crippled beyond belief, as that 1 second is almost always the difference between life and death (blinds have worn out, dodging reducing DPS significantly during this window and potentially screwing up the mob alignment). Guess I now have to go back to spamming Cluster Bomb like I used to before I grew a pair.

The patch prevented it from being anywhere near as effective at it used to be, yes.

How do all these thieves crying about their dagger damage make time to pull out the short bow to blast finish anything? It’s our #1 PVE strength yet people are worried about back stabbing.. sounds pretty fail

I will gladly take a total stealth removal nerf on my main if they remove Ride The Lightning

I am new at the thief class (L26) and to be honest, it is an awesome class, you have got great melee as ranged attacks. This isn´t some other mindless one-button slaughter house madness. You actually need to think ahead of your attacks/tactics, you need to set up the right traits and skills for your play style. I still don´t know what I am doing in every situation, but I still manage. Go search the internet for info of this class, and try using some of those tips/tricks to see how it works out for YOU!

No offense to servers that have zero coverage in terms of SEA crews at the moment.
But to simply ask them over and function as the only guild is to indirectly tell them to PvDoor all the time they are online.

No doubt you can call that contribution but I don’t think it can be fun for them and it severely limits their game options during the time they are online to just ram keeps with no opposition at all.

Assuming they intend to move to another T1 NA server, it will be a complex decision.

Do they want to just steamroll and not have to do anything else? JQ then, it has unbeatable SEA coverage at the moment.

Would they like to be part of a force that offer competitive (competitive does not mean stacked) challenge to JQ’s enviable SEA coverage? BG would offer that chance

What about fighting an uphill battle and outmanned which poses for a great challenge? SoR would the one

What is the guild’s favoured play style? havoc squads? defending? camp flipping? working with large guilds? running with large guilds?

Are we familiar with the other guilds or have we enjoyed working with them in the past?

Do we want to be competitive? Do we want some challenge without having to face the insurmountable? Do we have another crew we can hand over our efforts to? Do we want to create another HoD 2.0?

All these will be factors up for consideration.

Every server is going to say we are friendly, we are the best, we are this and we are that. They are also going to say we are weak and the opponent is too strong.

Alot of information about the strength of various timezones and the “notoriety” of guilds are openly discussed often which gives a fairly good indication.

At the end of the day, although I hope AFS could join the BG crew, the decision where AFS moves to has to be respected.

I disagree with this somewhat . He’s right about Jq. If you want to afk first place every week, then please just join Jq . As proven with the score this week. BG guilds basically had to pull all nighters at the end of last week to pull first, to the point where we crashed and burned out this week. We just can’t sustain the coverage the JQ has. Not complaining, just the facts. I would love more SEA guilds on Bg. I think this server is great and has awesome people in it and we have the best shot as dethroning JQ. The problem is SOR isn’t going anywhere. They have some tough as nails guilds and none of the lower tier servers will keep them out of T1 for long. Their NA is proven. They just need some over night coverage to stop the ppt bleeding during the week. I feel that having a more competitive SOR will be better for T1 and better for BG . That way SOR plays for 1# every week instead of trying to be king makers.

TL;DR if you want to be most competitive for first place T1 join BG. If you want your guild to have the greatest impact on a server making them competitive, then join SOR.

Here’s my advice. Eliminate any server that has guilds which tell you not to go to their rival server. It’s like reverse recruiting.

If you ask any of the guilds who have recently transferred to JQ, they will tell you that without a doubt the most transfer friendly server is JQ. We let guilds make their own hours, choose their own maps and run how they want to run.

We support our guilds and work as a team.

Above all, we have a lot of fun doing it. Frequently, I have to take breaks because I am laughing so hard.

If you’re more about people than about numbers and ratings and who caps who and who is this or that, come to JQ. We have real people, not canned!

As a blackgate player, PLEASE consider SOR. They need to be competitive so they can stop being griefers. They have a really strong NA. Some SEA guilds would make T1 a toss up every week.
