I have fast queation. Can engi tanking vg/gor? And which stat you reccomend. My idea is viper gear with some celestial or other toughness gear to have 1401 tough.

My opinion of cons: cc break(slick shoes), high dmg, group heal(HT), on VG seeker control(glue bomb, big o bomb..)

Active dps meter in raid is really bad idea. I remember (lf xx k dps xxx) no. But it is still room for some improovements, learning your class, and crafting your build.
Everyone know that in pvp lobby you have training dummy. So what about make some kind of this in guild hall/your home. (Sure for gems, for this Anet can be rewarded) let me explain this:
To your GH or home you can buy testing arena. It will have various option. Before you enter, you can manage how much hp/toughness will dummy have(not by numbers but easilly: low, medium, high.. You can manage boons what you have(how many might etc) how much vulnerability dummy will have etc… for thoose who want raid enviroment. Next can be that dummy will moving(practice for ele, engi.. With ground targeting)
How we will get our dps? Very easy by time. We can have timer and only complain our times how long we need for kill dummy.
This can help us manage builds for group.
But still I think that argument of that dmg meter make more toxic players is not true, it will only show up unbalance between proffesions.

In my eyes.. Anet boost engi tool kit trait from 20%cd reduce to 33%. This is not big shake but after scrapper nerfs(actually I don’t think that they want boost him) I start thinking about core engi build.
Nerf scrapper is ok, still think that 40sec cd sneak gyro and triple leap add 2 sec cd is not enough. I hope that they improve other gyros (somewhere i saw suggestion to shredder gyro have ability to increase condi duration for other ally by 10-20% and can be overcap) so I hope that annet make big effort to suit proffesions for every game style(pvp, pve, wvw).

Scrapper destroyed the Engineer identity. It is literally contrary to everything the Engineer used to be.

Hammer’s a Tanky weapon, which Engineers really lacked outside of Tool Kit (which almost no one freaking ran because all the Engi Purists are so caught up in RNGrenades). I’m loving Hammer, and it was my real introduction to the class.
Scrapper is Anet mistake. Tool kit was almost in every meta build. I don’t know how long you play this class.
And except this pvp meta, i never use hammer anywhere. Where you want use it? In raid for tanking is better condi. In open world I take p/p+4 kit and with 5 blind skills i can’t die. For dungeon speed run still rifle/nade power build… so i don’t think that hammer is engineer image. It’s only toy for new engineers.

Necro is not only one who can burn ele with new DS. Condi engi with nades can make 5 condis from one throw, sustain of 3-4 condi by aa nade. If they change something in core engi survivability, this will be danger for ele too. Hopefully nades are hard to land on moving target.

Okay I understand and me-kits lover- let’s say that I can accept this. I don’t want take example in pvp now but in pve-raids: so now we running 4 kit condi. Many proffesions rotate 10skills(primary aa) +utility. We swaping kits like crazy bulls and except nade aa we never can use any aa(and yea nade is aoe skill.. My finger hurts). And still many classes have better group viable. So you think if they make kits something like “dps spike” in pve that this can be solution? Upgrade our core weapons? →and increase kit skills cd? ^^ sure, but you must know that marauder scrapper is only created with every defensive trait lines (alchemy: condi remove+boons/inevntions: high healing-bunker down/scrapper: rapid regen, adaptive armor..) then add high power coeficient on hammer skills, many surv abilities and this is it.
You can use high cc pressure(lack of stability). Or shoot down his hp under 25%(3 sec god mini elixir) he will loose 1 heal(under 25% heal skill reset). I know him deep so my nades always eat him

I think the title should read scrapper, not engineer.
Try playing core engineer without the elite spec in the current meta and you will find out, it is indeed not overpowered at all. Any nerf to core engi spec will gut down the core engineer even into deeper pit and force every “engineer” play scrapper.
The biggest problem is the hammer, which offers way too much goodies: good dps, might stacking, reflect (on very low CD), evade + triple leap finisher, block (on very low CD), lighting field + 1200 range AoE stun. That is just spectacularly too much for 1 weapon: either it should be focused on the utility and CC side and do pitiful DPS, just like warrior hammer or it should do good DPS, but offer much less utility.
I don’t know where all this false information comes that engineer is immune to conditions. Conditions are one of the main weaknesses of the engineer. Granted an elixir build can have good condition removal. Medkit might look good on paper and it offers 2.5 s resistance on 20 s cooldown (throw antidote, aka medkit #5), but how often you see engineers using medkit?
And I am an engineer main.

Don’t please touch slick shoes. I will repeated here: if anet not split pvp and pve, slick shoes is one of our best ability for cc break bar in raid/world boss. Breaking this skill make engi more useless-scrapper is the problem not slick shoes.
Reduce healing from rapid regen, hammer cd is too short,no dmg! But cd. (Increase cd-not affect pve scrapper this i mean. You will stay only longer in granade/flamethrower kit)
As you say, we have lack of stability (only with toss elixir b) not too much condi remove(still my most deaths is from necros sigh..) it will be intteresting how we will compare against buffed thieves and necros.
I try play core engi against scrapper today in pvp and I know how you feel now guys. Reflects, cc, high sustain and dmg, disengage from battle. Increase his cd on hammer can work. Second skill to 10sec, meaby they now can take some explosive kit idk how will patch shake with this. Btw: 12 sec cd on rocket charge? 15sec or dmg reduce!

Glass cannon is interesting. I missing bore condi pressure in explosive trait line(nades, bombs, mortar all of those have big source of condi). This idea I think is not bad. Not exactly this what you write but something with condi to glass cannon. (For me only)

Sorry if someone has mentioned this, but why are all the changes are for Spvp and then you keep trying to balance things around the Spvp, then you forget that there is wvw and there is pve =/
Please add all the stats and then try to balance things and not based on Spvp only, things like you need to stand on capping point and Mesmer gs1 for example (not to mention the obstructer you get mostly with it if you try to go in distant)
Or being on the capping point when you know that there are aoes going around on the capping point or god forbid traps.
Please try to balance the game itself and not only around Spvp and forget about other parts of the game.

Range demand reduction on rifle 3 and pistol 4-don’t touch this! This 2 skills have too high dmg to be fired from 600 range! They can increase lowest but decrease highest dmg, this will reduce dmg in pve.. And take some suprise shots in pvp
I seen someone say: make pistol aa explosive-GReat suggestion! Generally: raid: fast boss moving no more great dps loss, pvp: some medium aa with vuln, chance to another bleed and criple. If will this too much op, they can reduce number of targets to 2 or 1 for me. We have better skill for aoe anet :-)

Thanks all for all the comebacks. I am in the process of switching to conditions and was doing the spreadsheet of before/after. I had the 33% enabled and needed to turn them off temporarily.

I understand the buildup, and am grinding flax farms and AB meta for viper gear mats. Unfortunately, the necromancer was ahead of him in the queue and got the first set of Viper gear, so I’ve just started this one up the line.

If they don’t nerf HT and slick shoes, engi will be still my main even if he make zero dmg and die from one hit by rabbit.
Nerf rapid regeneration(not from swiftness but from haste) and adaptive armor(condi reduce is balanced, armor need nerf 40) but increase duration to 12sec.
Other traits need more viability to choose like: "hey am power zerk for raid, condi engi, tank, cc, or meaby heal(med kit? O-o) we will see :-)

I have the eternal so i made yesterday raid for medium skilled ppl. After 2 hours we beat VG with not best class setup(for 5 players was is first kill) and we end at gorse after 1 hour around 15%hp(I repeat for almost all ppl was 1st experience and only me have kill) so, I think that not everyone is toxic. Try to join bigger guild with your language and meaby you will have luck

eh just use hammer 5 on lord + rocket charge h3, then acid bomb, make some damage and if you feel that you can will die, just use haste, slick shoes run around room, use every condi clean, sneak gyro, or run out of room with sneak gyro(they may follow you, destroy gyro outside of door and run in stealth into lord again) meaby its more harder then reaper dont know, its only about rotating your cd at right time and thinking ablittle future what you will need :-)

Engineer is jack of all trades so I want see this tend in future(for only me, gyros are bad idea)
I will really enjoy something like this
Enchantments: you will enchant you current equiped weapon by sort of skills(let me introduce some)
Rocket enchant: in this kit your weapon(pick hammer) AA no not reciew might, but only give more vulnerability. Electro whirl now shoot rockets around you (without reflection) rocket charge now inflict stun but not evade…etc
Next elixir enchant: aa minor heal each strike..
Flame enchant: condi based… etc
It meaby seems op, but if you use electrowhirl without any enchant you will reflect missiles but you will stil have cd(6sec? )if you swap to enchant your skill change but still you have cd from non enchant or previous(so enchants will be like kits, without cd) this give more viability to any weapon but it may be very hard work for devs.
Of course it cant work with only enchats utilities, this is only far idea what should i invite in my gameplay

I really enjoy split sections on each boss. It’s good mechanism for “specialists” of current need. VG need condi dmg, gorse some stopers. This make i think feel that you are very important for your squad. Meaby they can make on other wing some split section with much evade skill req for thieves.

I try to make condi nade build to pvp because I like condi dmg and I think that granades is ussable in pvp.

I try to keep eye on some cc(slick shoes, freeze nade etc.) power damage(shrapnel nade, aa nade) and condi from kit and pistol. Inventions i choose because of bunker down. But this amulet not provide precision so i try to raise crit chance with sigils.
Condi remove provide purge gyro, and have cute tool belt skill for add condi.
I test this build and it works great against other engineers. But still big HP pool and low heal..

Marauder scrapper is really best now for pvp. But if I see in conquest 2+ elementalists i swap to marauder rifle(alchemy, inventions, tools) -static discharger. It’s still very good build and you can troll many DH, some bunkers… but be carefull on reapers.

They must know that we using 4 kits, swaping them in combat with tactic moves(many of our skills is hard to put-nades, bomb field etc..) and dont see CD! So if I swap to bomb kit and fire bomb is on cd, i loose dps and make non productive move(meaby on nades is better explain-no aa until press button).
