Umm…. for “long enough” you ask? Your references are how young? A handful of video games aren’t relevant to a couple of thousand years of theology/mythology. From my point of view Aragorn is probably one of the worst example of a Ranger I can think of. Especially when most people, if asked, would probably say Legolas was the Ranger of the movies. When you as the observer have to be told specifically what the character is, it’s a failure. :-)

Why are we even arguing of this? The point is, Archery is a Ranger’s most prolific and well known skill set. It will not change because of some video games. That’s all I’m saying.

I’d like Guard to be made useful again in WvW
Pet’s, especially flying ones, should be able to swoop down from a wall and attack and vice versa. ESPECIALLY, when Engi’s can drop kit’s on top of walls and Mesmer clones/illusions can go on top of walls and behind gates.

If you are about balance, well… it’s not really. Nor is it even fun!

I already posted about making WxP account bound last week. Not only should they be, the points should be refundable. Essentially our time in WvW, no matter which alt we’re on, should be validated by being added to a shared pool of WxP. Then we can add points toward traits lines of the character we wish to play. Then recover those points when we switch to another character. Thus still retaining specialized traits per character. Also, allowing us freedom to specialized traits for how we wish to play that day.

Account bound WxP would:
A.)Making WXP alts friendly.
B.)Titles would show our true accomplishments in WvW. Not diluted down and punished for loving alts.
C.)Refundable if we don’t like a particular trait. OR, to be used on new skills we’d much rather have when they become available.

I could list more but, these are the basics of a fair and balanced system. With WxP being as hard to come by and already thousands of hours required to accomplish the existing traits, it only makes sense to rethink the structuring.

I strolled a bit too close to Valley’s Spawn in EB. Insta-killed describes the experience best. I wondered what the heck hit me so hard. The combat log showed I was hit for 129k :-)

So yeah…. you’re not taking one of them out anytime soon. Maybe if you used a couple of bali’s and some silly folks willing to take one for the team.

Must stop single person contesting way points in WvW. This is getting crazy how easy it is to contest way points. Please dev, please spin a tale of how a single person going “pew..pew” against a gate would disrupt a WP?

At least make it require an attack that is of a threatening nature.

It would be much simpler if the colors were randomly chosen each week. Then not just PvE’ers but, all of us could grab map complete of the WvW area’s eventually. As it stands now, it’s very difficult to time when or if a keep might be taken.

I’ve completed the WvW map’s on two characters a while ago. It’s the PvE area’s, Ascalon especially, that I despise.

Crystalpink, it’s most likely because retaking the tower earns twice the WxP and is faster than dragging out a defense. The Dev’s wanted a high adrenaline game with equally high turnover rate from the beginning. That’s why everything is basically paper when you consider the power output vs defense/healing ratio. Now, they’ve given even greater incentives to push the turnover rate up even more.

In the metagame, fewer items are going to be upgraded. Probably the keeps will be the only thing to be upgraded for WP and Bank access. Otherwise, with camps now being flipped more frequently for WxP, supply will be more difficult to obtain to perform any upgrades.

I’m not a sugar and caffeine craving teen who wants to be sitting in a pool of sweat from playing a video game. Thus, the dev’s can stick their idea of what the metagame should be :-)

Many of us have asked ourselves the same question, “Why isn’t our WxP account bound?” It’s still US no matter what character we’re rolling at the moment, right? We’re still putting in the same amount of man hours in WvW. Thus, why aren’t we given experience for those hours? Instead of it being divided down, requiring more and more for each alt. Heaven forbid we decide in the future to reroll a character and lose all that WxP.

In my point of view, it’s a ridiculous concept to put a virtual character ahead of the living breathing, real life person who paid to play the game.

I’ve got 15 supply and a print that say’s we can do something about this! :-)

Ruprect.7260 …. you asked about why people desire a reward. Think of it not so much as a reward but, being valued. When you consider a Zerger is now going to become empower beyond a builder, that won’t make the player feel like a valued customer.

I have a feeling this update is going to disenfranchise quite a few in the end.

HAHAHA… first tier problems, I got that joke Good to hear it’s working for the majority then. I know it’s not an issue on my end. System is quite robust and FPS is very good. This must be just a T1 issue when the Mega Zerg’s clash.

I made this post after spawning into EB, while a battle for SM LR was taking place. Evekittenpawn I couldn’t get skills to work. The funniest, as I was on my Staff Ele at the moment, was watching skill animations finish a good couple of seconds before bleeds would begin to tick. And, then they would be trailing behind the critters I was killing by a good second of two as well. Like there was an invisible creature or something I hit. #wonky

Anyway, good to hear it’s working for you. If anyone from Anet read’s this, please consider allocating some more resources from the farm for T1 EB please??? We’re a bit piggish up here it seems :-)

Building and siege offense/defense were the only WxP skills I cared about. Too see the points required is disheartening. Because building and running Yak’s doesn’t give any! So, it’s a two handed slap in the face to those of us whom like these activities.

The dev’s and I are very different people, I get that. It’s their sandbox and sometimes I’d like to throw a handful in their face! :-)

New artistic direction for new content?

Wondering if we can get new zones/regions with a differing art direction? With the exception of the Shiverpeaks and Gendarran Fields, the color palette of the game has been very muted and dreary. To me, pretty depressing actually.

To widen to the appeal of a greater audience, how about new end game regions with more fantasy and flare? Area’s filled with life and color that we should deserve after beating the dark forces of Zhaitan. Where’s the growth in the game going to come from if all we do is make derivatives of the same themes?

Daniel Dociu has brought in some amazing themes. Though I believe it’s time Arenanet hires an equal to bring in some new content. While Daniel and his team can continue the task of enhancing existing themes within new updates. Otherwise, it’ll just be more of the same, again and again.

Lucky for me, I think the new items are sinfully ugly For a fantasy MMORPG, I have no idea where there get their taste from. For the most part the art is very cluttered, dark, dreary, and lacking the vibrancy of life.

I can imagine what the convo must have been like for this.
Dev: “Hey, we have a great idea. How would you like to add some new skins for Flame and Frost?”
Artist: “Sure, what did you have in mind?”
Dev: “You’ll love this… flames on grunge metal!!!”

So for me, the rng of blc’s doesn’t really matter. Since they have nothing I want in them. The only item I’ve been wanting is white and celestial dye’s per alt. Which is ridiculously expensive. $12 USD for dye for each alt is too much. So, I’ve tried crafting Unidentified Rare Gray Dye. Every time I get a fine dye, not even a rare. So for this, I understand how frustrating rng can be. I’ll probably lose interest in the game before I get either of the dyes.

For the Halloween event, I did purchase the Witch’s costume. A flat rate, no RNG, and it wasn’t too expensive. I use it every time a costume brawl comes up on the daily. I think Anet would get more return if they put things on a flat rate and was reasonably priced.

I see this thread as Elitist’s complaining WVW should be about their kills and their skills. They should be special, right? If you want to PvP, then go PvP. That is for individuals to fight on a small scale. WvW is about army’s, territory, and the community. That is why it’s called “World vs World”.

For the path of least resistance and obtaining wealth, that’s interesting. Because if you think about it, we’re not even being very smart about it either. Because if we were smart, we’d line up naked and kill/rez cycle each other non stop. We’d also be peacefully porting in all the JP’s 24/7. Heck, we should just bash all the gates down so we can to all the POI’s and VP’s too. If we were smart and thought outside the box, we’d do this. Instead, someone tells to fight each other and we do. Even if cooperating would get us greater rewards in the end….

My older system is 5yr old Q6600 with a slightly newer Nvidia GTX460. It runs GW2 well enough. Only sticking point is WvW zerg’s or Dragon events. Which is completely understandable.

Now, my new system chews up GW2 on High like it’s water. Thus, I’d say on this issue they’re actually doing a pretty good job of making the game system friendly.

100 gold is a lot to come by in PvE. Cap’s and/or vids or it didn’t happen :-) Btw… I exclude dungeons as PvE items. They are a separate instance, literally.

For the 5k badges concept, it’s not a bad one. You do realize though the dreaded JP’ers can then become a commander in under 2 months 10K sounds a bit high though.

After all these months of play, it’s quite obvious Thieves are the Dev’s pet favorite. It’s not going to change any time soon. They obviously believe frustration is fun. How and why they come to this conclusion, Idk. But, it’s the only explanation for this…..

For all the complains, PvDoor is more fun to me than the constant zerging has become. If you want badges and loot, then we all should agree to be super intelligent human beings and work together. Just stand in a field without armor and kill/rez cycle each other all day. Also, run the JP collectively and peacefully. That would maximize our return’s on WvW. Actually letting Anet influence us into fighting is the problem. #thesheepweare

Honestly, how massive boulders and artillery doesn’t do MORE damage than your little dagger or my rifle is beyond me.

Because it’s change, I’ll initially not like it. More than likely hate this because being a Builder/Sieger my return on my hard work will most likely be little to none compared to Gankers. So, as I’m poor in the economy for not liking dungeons. I’ll be poor in WvW Xp for not Zerging. Typical!

But, by next week I’ll happily be doing my thing again :-) Most likely you’ll be experiencing the same thing too.

Best and worst classes for WvW

The best class is the one you enjoy!!!! :-) That’s why everything I write is completely subjective to my own point of view.

Most functional answer’s have been already given. Leaving how you feel and identify with the class label. For example, I can’t bring myself to play a necro or thief. The RPG portion of the game just will not let me do it. I might try to justify a “white” thief again, who knows.

For play style, I’m a support player who loves siege. Also, I dislike/hate frenetic game designs like dodging. Let’s be honest, there really isn’t much skill to it. It’s just frenetic energy leading to an adrenaline response. That is it’s true design purpose. Thus, my faves are my shout Rifle Warrior and Staff Ele. Ranger’s are fun too. My Mesmer was built just for portal purposes. I built a Guardian a couple weeks after release. Still at level 6 or so The lack of good heavy armor options keeps me from leveling her. It would visually become a clone of my warrior eventually.

For the lack of love for an Engi, I built one just for the fun of sweeping with the flamethrower!!! Bar none, the best sweeper in the game

I still like my idea. The number was just a starting suggestion. If you can’t gather 20 people to go click on a piece of crappy siege, then you aren’t going to own much of anything on the map anyway. Siege capping is irrelevant if all you are doing on a map is camp farming.

I thought about it being percentage based too. That would be much more difficult as the threshold would continuous vary as people went on and off the map. I thought of it more like when we go from Fractal to Fractal. A simple we all agree box that we click…click..click… and it’s done. The pop up would be personalized and only show for the individual whom right clicks on the siege That piece of siege would keep a rolling tally and when it reaches a threshold, boom the NPC’s go at it. This shouldn’t be difficult at all.

Also, this would be useful for general house keeping purposes during the week. Removing and adding siege as the need’s arise.

For Anet not knowing or not saying, that is two different things. I give them way more credit. Fore, if they know the population distribution of particular builds in WvW, they know the base population as well. Loot from my understanding is a separate issue entirely. I believe the game was originally design that you manually had to loot the corpse. Possibly even fighting over whom would get the loot even. Thus, auto loot is something more complex when they have layers of code to undo.

I’ll have to agree that Squad chat is useless. We all need to be in the loop at all times. Meaning, map chat is where we all need to be. Which in WvW should not have any suppression at all. If someone is spamming on it, we have ignore to take care of that.

The past week there’s been a lot of discussion on how to deal with saboteurs who siege cap maps. Was just thinking, what if we could right click on siege to pull up a pop up. On the pop up there would be a check box to keep an item or queue it for demolition. Say requiring 20 unique users to trigger an event where the NPC guards would destroy it. Kinda amusing and the AI is already programmed for it. You’re basically relabeling the item as an enemy item.

This way it would take 20 or more spies/saboteurs to effect anything. Not likely to happen. Though making it easy for the honest players to clean house.

Off topic, I still wish below a piece of siege’s HP bar, there was a despawn bar. This way we have visual confirmation of when things need to be refreshed.

I’m unaware of his “spying” on us or not. For that would require a recipient on another world. I don’t even know if this person holds any malice against us on JQ. That is why I refer to this person as our Gremlin. Though not aircraft related, they did in fact mess up our game on the mechanical side of things badly. And, might only have done it for the sake of doing it.

Keep that chin up FOO! One day I’ll have to wake up super early to get on at the same time.
