I rolled a Ranger last week just to play with this one utility! Because it look’s funny to play with. Nerfing it now would irk me to know end. Besides, clones/phantasms/illusions whatever, are WAY more annoying than pets! Or, how about AOE damaged breaching through gates? That’s WAY more of an in use bug than pets are…

I’d like this too. I’m using up very valuable storage space with all of these stacks of Commendations. Wish you would have warned us you were taking her offline. I would have cashed them in.
Also, hoping you keep her in game. I love the voice actress you chose. Adorable accent on her
Guardians are extremely valuable. Anyone who say’s otherwise to you, just put them on block so you don’t accidentally pug with them again.
Remember, the person on the other side of the screen may be a high caffeinated sugar addict. Whom, at the moment, is completely adrenalined out of their little 12 year old mind! :-) It certainly wouldn’t be a fun run if the person was so intolerant that they’d bark about your class so quickly.
Use block and find FUN people to run dungeons with. Life’s too short to worry about such things. If it helps, think of it this way, would they spend years developing these classes, skills, and traits if the didn’t have a place? DPS and dodging isn’t the end all be all of GW2. Certainly not a fun fantasy experience without some magic and class utilities being used.
Did the game fail us or did we fail the game? Is it our own behavior that makes the games less fun and enjoyable? Though there is very little reward for being good or honorable in the game. Hence the photo attached :-)
Everything in the game is about destruction or killing. With that, everything is disposable and made of tissue paper too. Making nothing in WvW (and most the game) of little value. Eventually, that was going to become a bore.
Arenanet has created a realm where creativity is frustratingly hampered. Especially when it comes to something as simple as appearance. I think if the control mechanism’s on appearance were removed, people would become much happier.
Thinking about creativity, there’s another reason why games like “The Sims” and “Farmville” are successful, the capacity to grow. In my opinion, they should have given players a place to build. Something to grow and nurture. There’s a large part of our humanity that’s been overlooked in the design of the game.
Dungeons…dungeon…dungeon… Jumping Puzzle… Jumping Puzzle… Jumping Puzzle…
Most of the game is designed around these two elements. Which, for someone like me who doesn’t like them, I know I’ll always be behind the curve. For the greatest rewards are gated within these. Making them make or break event’s on the greater economy of the game. This makes my future with this game bleak. For I know inflation will greatly outstrip my PvE income. FotM and Ascended gear compounds this greatly. On my 21st daily level 10, I finally received my first ring drop. Of course, it is a useless one for my main. Though the thought of repeating this day in and day out for months is not welcomed. In fact, it’s a highly frustrating turn off.
I feel the design team needs to make a huge change to include and entirely different player base. For now, it’s mostly repetitive and frenetic “ZOMG…KILL!” push button, adrenaline style, game play.
As annoying as Thieves, Mesmer’s, and culling are, there exists core issues that are more unrewarding and simply not fun or fulfilling.
This is an issue compared to having spies on other servers??? At least this, we have knowledge of. We see a corpse, we can avoid it. This way they can’t see much.
Spies on the other hand, that’s an unavoidable problem. Lord only knows who’s really on your worlds side or not. It’s not even worth trying to hide or be secretive. Any Commander thinking they’re being secretive and going to hide a plan is deluding themselves.
A saddening part of this game is, it rewards dishonorable acts like crazy.
Honestly, when a game is being sold around PvP and WvW, they shouldn’t have added any stealth or illusions. I really question the morality and virtues of the design team on many levels, this especially. I’d rather face my enemy and brawl for 3-5 minutes than these tissue paper characters we have now. Honestly, how long is your average 1v1 fight?
I had a great one Rifle Warrior vs Rifle Warrior fight last night in EB. We downed each other at the same time. Then both popped Vengeance and went at it more. I was the victor by the smallest margin. THAT was fun and honorable.
For some reason, they appear to deeply want rapid inflation. I have no idea why, when it only hurts the casual/honest player’s of the game.
For Passion Flowers, I haven’t seen one yet. I’m probably close to a full stack of Passion Fruit too.
As a rifle Warrior I do see the “obstructed” sign quite often in WvW. Annoyingly so….
I’m using this with a Mystic Rifle and Omnomberry Ghost on my Warrior. It’s really hard to tell what’s causing the life steal to pop up. It could be just a combo finisher more than anything. I’d have to record game play to figure it out. Considering how short fight’s are in WvW, it hasn’t made a noticeable difference thus far.
Reganov, I’m not suggesting it’s a cookie cutter preset. From my perspective, it can be just a set of icon on the games dashboard that we can assign hotkeys toward for our own custom builds. We’d need to have the items in our inventory though, which can be a healthy restriction. I wouldn’t even have much of a cool down either.
Great idea OP! As a Final Fantasy player, I’ve been thinking of this mechanism too.
ps… you should put a commander pin on Aco Claus so we can find him in LA easier
Awww….. wish I knew, I would have joined you there
Yes PLEASE!!!! I think I’d be so much happier with a controller. It’s just map chat that becomes the issues.
Anyway, wasn’t the rumor that Anet was/is trying to port this to consoles anyway? Especially if next gen’s are X86 based, I can see this happening in the future.
I agree with the concept of having modes. In Final Fantasy it’s called the paradigm’s. Where the role or focus of the character has multiple presets. I’d love to be able to swap my Warrior from Shout, to DPS, to Durability, etc…. It would make life much easier and more fun to play. Heck, even tie in appearance to it. Since I have different armor/accessories for such modalities. One could even change dye’s to have a greater effect.
….. Anything to make it more fun!
Also, being a WvW’er, I went straight to building wall’s and cat’s. Right before any of them were about to be demolished, I’d upgrade them to replenish their health. It was pretty easy for the players I was with. Maybe they just needed someone to follow from the start.
Also, build double walls. Oh… and put a few snowman out in the field as bait :-)
Ummm…. yeah, the object for me was to get the achievement points. Which means staying alive and keeping the yaks alive too. I didn’t even look at the score once to notice, just kept my eye on the health meters.
I’ll say it again and again, the simplest and quickest way for Anet to help us be more creative and free is to unlock the armor skins from the classes. Keep the stat’s and skins separate. Instant 300% increase in options That alone would make me happy.
Actually, no…. I’m not mad. What angered me was that 2nd post more than anything. Then reading one of his post about thieves, wow.
About the skill itself, I’ve never been pulled in actual combat either. What I find intellectually absurd about it is, the physics of it are just wrong. In the entrance to the EB JP in WvW is where I noticed this. Camper’s were annoying fellow players so I went in there to help. This Scorpion Wire can literally shot upwards through the solid platform and pull me down. I’m not standing on the edge mind you. Yet, my arrows of greater range raining downward were making no contact. That lack of physics should annoy everyone, except thieves, who are profiting from it.
Either that or Anet has issues with the physics of Arrows? I noticed Arrow carts can shoot vertically, then the arrows can make a 90 degree turn and run horizontally. I shook my head at that too
Signed! If they’re going to put such strong needs for Ecto’s, they should be more readily available.
Having it as a drop I don’t believe would make it any easier though. For RNG either hates me or Anet blacklisted me because they know from experience I’m willing to actually buy gems. Why reward me with drops when they know they have a suckers on the hook? ;-) So having Ecto’s as drop’s, I could probably farm them for month’s without seeing even one. Like passion fruit, I have a full stack yet, not one passion flower. Or, 20 FotM daily’s without a single ring drop….
This thread….again???? For the love of…… I don’t care if you run it naked! As long as we finish in a timely and FUN run.
What’s selfish for one thing is, elitism. Demanded everyone to be at “your” acceptable level is absolutely selfish. What’s selfish and really hurting the game far more is rage quitter’s. Heck, I ran my FotM daily yesterday and the Dredge came up first. This person rage quit right at the beginning because we didn’t run the paths “their” special way. I laughed because directions are on the freak’n wiki. Later I ran TA and someone rage quit because they didn’t want to spend any money on armor repair. Those are truly selfish behaviors. Magic Find doesn’t even come close to it.
How about thinking of it this way. If someone is desperate enough to put on MF gear, they must really be in need. Be charitable…. tis’ the season, no?
I have to rant a little here, for what part of a massively multiplayer online role-playing game alludes some of you? It simply means, many players in a shared instance. Forcing social interaction by gating items is not mandated, nor warranted, by the title MMORPG. ….Oy!
What I will agree with is, Anet tries too hard to herd and control our behavior. Instead of letting us flow and do as we wish. I don’t know why they feel being a control freak is going to benefit the game but, that’s what they do. The monthly’s should be a choice a multiples options to obtain it.
How about a list that at least tells us what ingredients will yield the best chances?
They should make a time machine! An instance when you can set back time to your liking. It’s a thought…
But, by buying Gem’s you are rewarding Anet’s behavior. So, expect RNG to continue if it’s supported. I agree when it comes to buying gems, the items should be guaranteed.
For me, something is SPECIAL because I like it. Whether someone else has it or not is completely irrelevant. Now, after taking the time to build and decorate my toon, if someone copied it, that would irk me. Luckily, names are unique and cannot be copied.
Strikerjolt, you’re obviously a thief and whining because you don’t want to be nerfed. Well, too bad! I read on another post you think just because you have a full bar of initiative you should have the right to kill everything in game too. That’s not happening!!! I don’t go around whining, but..but…but… I’d had 3 full bars of adrenaline, I should wiped out everyone.
Also, Anet just upgraded the range to 1200. It’s pulling beyond the range of the LONGEST ranged weapon. I think it safe to say they broke it while trying to fix it. Its also working through solid objects! This is a patch that needs to be reverted back.
Scorpion wire range needs to be scaled back, badly. If you’re equipped with a long bow, traited for extra distance, you should be able to hit a thief long before they can pull you in with Scorpion Wire. Something is terribly wrong if a thief has the greatest distance skill available. It may not have been designed to be this way but, it’s exactly how it’s functioning.
Robin, that sounds awesome that you do all that for your guild’s.
I know this is “Guild Wars” but, Guilding right now seems like High School all over again. Most people seemed to be joining just because they want stuff. That’s why there’s no loyalty. As soon as someone appears to have more stuff, people bolt. Kinda’ sad really. Until there’s meaning and virtues behind the guild, there won’t be much loyalty.
Yes or any safe box will stop that from happening too.
I just noticed this on the TP last night, “Name Change Contract”. On the wiki it states "This item seems to have been listed on the Trading Post as early as October 8, 2012. However, it has yet to have been made available for players. "
So, it must be in the code already. Just not activated.
Couldn’t be with you more!!!! There have been post for Z-Axis control before. I know I posted one myself months ago. I have no idea why they’re not considering this. It would be ideal!!!!!
Maybe keeping the current control mechanism plus another key like “shift” could allows Z-axis control. Even a slider in the option panel could be the minimal amount of control.
Gamer’s, we’re an extremely creative bunch. They should have known we’d feel frustrated by the cookie cutter appearance classes. I’m with you that they need to open up customization far more. I just posted in another thread the same thing. They need to release the skins for all armor classes. The stats and appearance should be separated so we can have the looks we so desire. If anything, it would increase the sales of fine transmutation stones in the gem store.
Add high-heeled designs for footwear / boots / shoes / armor...

IMHO, they need to unlock armor appearances completely. Stat’s they can keep associated to professions but skins, they should be applicable to everyone. Then as you asked, more…. much more!
As someone who likes solo play, I’d rather dungeons have difficulty scaling that allowed between 1-8 or more. I get all the social interaction I need when I’m in WvW and the whole rest of PvE.
I’d appreciate some down time where I can solo. A dungeon is the perfect place to go all Indiana Jones and explore. Already having all the goodies gated in them “forces” me to do them. Forcing me to party with 4 strangers though, isn’t appreciated. Having it moved to 8 even more so. An MMORPG only requires simultaneous game play.
As a shout/warhorn build, I’m traited to suck and I know it. You will get rooted and plowed over in WvW quite easily. But, it’s a great scout/runner with perma swiftness and I can do a little bit of everything. It’s not the aggressive “ME KILL ALL” class that’s befitting of the title, Warrior. If someone would like to enlighten us how to do that, I’m all for it!
I get a kick out of just looking at the Necromancer thread and one of the latest post is a “Juggermancer” build with,
3516 Attack
3073 Armor
30,242 HP
Good luck getting those kind of numbers out of a Warrior build.
It’s a perfect circumstance shot, no? Though still impressive! I’ve never noticed doing anything higher than low teens myself. I’m build for support and it’s nice to know my profession is capable of this if I want to change up my play style.
For the sabotage aspect, I wish they had this last week. I would have switched to another server just to KILL saboteurs we had two nights in a row. Right now there’s nothing you can do to stop them. Anet doesn’t even want to hear about it.
How about keeping things the way they are but, the last week of each month is a completely random match? The points from this “Match Up Week” do not count toward the tier system either. It’s a fun week with some rewards for each placing. This way we’d all get to fight each other eventually. Also, incentive to get as many in there as possible.
I think it should stay. And, farming it is no different than farming any other PvE event.
Also, it can be defeated if the tower is manned and built with some siege.
If anyone hasn’t noticed, they changed that loud sound from the ranged attack of Young Karka. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I can now run around without the volume on Mute
Yes… it’s THAT much better that it needed a thread
I still think it’s a great idea! If I want <insert favorite name of character> to now be something else, every day of the week, why not?
….But… it might encourage Gems Sales… Are you seriously giving that as a reason? That’s the life blood of this game! Without it there will not even BE a GW2 a year from now. This is a business remember?
Here’s a counter offer, how about after we hit level 80, we should be able to purchase an additional profession on our character? This way we get to keep <insert favorite character> and start learning a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and so on, until we mastered every profession there is. Just like it is in crafting. Why should our character be stuck at one thing?
Heck, if we want to run one character as a jack of all trades, it would be beneficial to the whole server ecosystem. As it would bring down storage space and also free up names for future players.
You know what’s ironically funny? I posted and complained because right after the Lost Shores event, I bought Gems—>Converted to Gold—> and bought up 1,000 Karka shells. All to purchase a second Ancient Karka shell. Only to find out what the “unique” quality meant after the purchase! Which cost me something like 40+ gold. Though some cheap karma items we need “protecting” from purchasing??? Even though it clearly has in red text item not for our class.
<sigh>…. idk what they were thinking on this….Love the idea…. A character should be able to evolve, no? To swap classes and still remain at level 80. I do not see any harm in this at all. We already put in the time, we should be able to get the benefit.
You mean, please STOP or please discontinue punishing solo PvE players? ;-)
And, I know this is off topic for preview but, wouldn’t it be great to pick portions of the armor that’s visible? I’d love to disable those sleeves. Ugg…. tacky as heck! Anyone else agree or is it just me?
The only thing I can imagine is, previewing creates desires in the players that are outside of ArenaNet’s design choices for us. Here’s a preview I took just a couple of days ago. I found these for the medium armor class and thought they would be awesome! So, I purchased them with hopes they may become available one day for my heavy classed Warrior. Now, the only option I get when clicking on them is to destroy them. Nice….. huh? Destroy any wishing outside of the cookie cutter.
I’ll never understand what harm it could do for anyone to have options in armor. This game needs to incorporate the spirit of the Sims and Farmville much more. Not everyone wants to be “ZOMFG….. kill… kill!” machine 24/7. Building and creating is much more rewarding…
I was run over by easily by a zerg of 15 they other night that came out of no where. Guess it varies highly on which servers and our personal computers.
Yes, it’s still be there for you if you switch back. I wish Guilds were broader based but, there not
Don’t worry about tag’s like “Gamer” on SSD’s. Any SSD will be buckets loads faster than an old fashioned platter based hard drive. Much more than you need for this game. It would be more important to get a small swap space sized one for caching but, that’s overkill for just playing this game too
Video card and ram are the big items to play this game.
PS…. Imagine if there was only a thousand points difference between 1st and 2nd and they decided to update an hour before the reset? It could have been timed much worse than at the very beginning of the week.
