W8 how is winning a match more trouble than winning a match with a class?
The difference between playing in a “rated” match vs unranked ones.
Good.
People in this game are far too focused on getting rewards.
Back in the good ol’ days we pvp’d with no rewards except Glory!
This isn’t going to change a persons focus or desire, just going to make them look elsewhere for it. That elsewhere is usually another game entirely.
btw… there was no exploits required to Engi farm. Anyone can stand over a respawn area and kill the mobs.
But only engis can do it with 1 click in several minutes. Or even completely afk, if they are enlightened enough to know what autoclicker is. And that is an exploit, just as ABML.
The Engi farm had 4 locations to deploy turrets at. You had to run a small circuit every 5 minutes to deploy the turrets properly. That’s why this wasn’t an afk farm, it was a present and chill farm.
btw. you’re being disrespectful to every player that plays by the rules and farmed the area.
Amazing list, will certainly be an increase in QoL. A thought, is it possible to make our bank tabs moveable like our inventory storage? As in we can drag and reorder the bank tabs vertically?
Excuse me, the volume of players engaging in the Engi farm were far greater in population than the few who complained. So it’s disingenuous to say “the community” had a problem with it
Indeed? Were there any demographic analysis on this?
One evening alone I hopped around 4 different map instances. That’s easily 400 players, likely more, farming just during the one time zone. I do not recall any thread on the topic that had that many individual players replying to it. And again, that was just during late NA time zone. Also, there might have been even more map instances. Those are just the ones I experienced.

The community had a problem with engi farm
Excuse me, the volume of players engaging in the Engi farm were far greater in population than the few who complained. So it’s disingenuous to say “the community” had a problem with it. The complaints were also selfish in nature as it was about “shiny envy” than anything else. Even Anet’s reasoning for nerfing it was likely profit motivated in wanting us to buy gems with cash, than farming/playing the game to earn loot.
A sarcastic “GJ” to the dev’s because the zone is dead now. I’d bet that player engagement as measured by player hours spent in game has dropped now too. Passive or “chill play” needs to be respected, not demonized.

In the recent patch to the bag farming in Lake Doric and over the years I’ve noticed an upsetting pattern of decisions made by the development team. You cannot micromanage players to how you want them to play your game. It is in fact really bad PR.
I find the “Nanny State” Anet has created as bad PR too. Especially when they sold the game as “play Guild Wars 2 the way you want to play”.
People were doing this while semi-afk, they started to use multiple accounts, bots would have popped up soon enough.
Talk about a logic fallacy. The way you correlate these without the slightest clue is astonishing. And, since you’re clueless, let me tell you I run all the map meta’s, like DS, while multi’ing. There’s no semi-afk while multi’ing.
I spent 25 minutes on the map before work today and saw 2 centaur hill runs and 3 map events get done. I hadn’t seen a single map event done in almost an entire week before the engi farm nerf. “Dead map”…if anything the engi farm is what was killing the map. It’s more alive now than it has been in weeks.
I don’t believe you. Also, how many instances of Lake Doric are now running? I believe more Lake Doric instances were running and more overall events were being completed before this nerf.
As JQ’s Legendary Scout, even I’m not rank 2000 yet! That’s because scouting / building / back capping / doing the chores / was and is still unrewarding. This back piece and armor just makes it that much more of a slap in the face to those of us that took care of our Worlds. It’s what it is and it after almost 5 years of WvW, completely expected from the dev’s.
Time to kitten it all, booster up, and farm all the guppies trying out the mode.
I’m overjoyed! Finally some legendary backpieces!
Except, you can be the worst PvP’er ever and still earn it far faster than this WvW backpiece.
I have spent the last 3 years playing a water support ele!
This means very little loot for me, and only a few enemy players get tagged.
As such I get less WXP and so have a lower rank than I really should!
And now I am again being penalised for being a support character!
Yet again Anet is neglecting us support characters!
Hi there, a JQ scout / builder / roamer here. Please do tell me about how poor the system is? I can spent the entire night and barely get any rewards, reward track or wxp.
It’s been over 4 weeks since I’ve been back after a 2 year break.
I’ve crafted a set of ascended armor, a few more weapons, made a legendary, finished the expansion with 100% on all maps, got just about every mastery point for champs from all the season zones yet
I still haven’t completed the mastery point for the centaur boss.
Hey maybe today is the day?
Thanks Anet! I knew you were listening and the numbers likely showed progression in this zone was seriously hampered by this afk farm. (To those who insist many weren’t afk, please, that’s laughable.)
Glad to see I was right, and so many couldn’t see the forest for the trees.
How does that dead map feel? Now there’s no leather farm at all.
So much for the “But its intended to be farmed” argument.
I still have no intention to run around like a chicken for the Dev’s amusement. If I want stand in place and kill respawns, I’ll do just that.
This thread mentioned 2 server names. inb4 our overlords wakes up.
/matchup thread
This is becoming a SERIOUS issue that needs to be addressed. Talking about World populations and comparison’s is NOT a match up thread. Match up threads are, “Hey, you took my keep!”, “Stop camping siege”, or something similar. Talking about population balance is warranted and needs to be allowed.
Everything in game has been a kill for loot since launch. There’s nothing abnormal or even unusual about the Engi farm. The only bad design was letting the leather supply diminish to the point where farming it had a good ROI.
It’s almost summer in the States, we need Beachwear!
Anet set’s these world population values manually every Monday, unless it’s a holiday. As someone with many alt accounts, one frequently witness how lopsided and inaccurate these population values can be. The only outcome I can come up with is that they are putting their boots on the scales to force a match outcome to create “rotations”. Population manipulation thru links and locks like this is an abhorrent overreach for a game mode that’s supposed to be competitive.
rotation dream…it sucks
Tried to say this many times the past two years. Change of pace is ok but, there still needs to be some level of consistency. Having our teams smashed together with strangers and then torn apart shortly after we get to know them sucks! It doesn’t feel good and it isn’t good for our communities.
Forced population controls to ensure an outcome of rotating placings is an overbearing sledgehammer of a design. Any sense of competition is negated as our control of the outcome is extremely limited.
The heck with it, WvW needs entirely new branding! Keep the worlds as they are for PvE and make new battle groups or realms with themes for us to join. Make them dark side, light side, or whatever just as long as we have something to fight for again. This way you can also make the appropriate amount of realms to go with today’s populations. Maybe give each realm their own “outfits” to wear in WvW and earn to keep outside it? We need something here Dev’s….
btw.. just NOT more sand dirt dessert gloomy designs. We have an over abundance of that now.
Meanwhile, was about 3:30am est and BG still has an EB map queue. Wonderful job there opening BG. smh
An hour into reset, YB had 4 maps queued and a total of 95 waiting in Queue. BG had 4 maps queued as well. Meanwhile, we had 3 maps queued and our worlds locked, as usual.
This nanny state they created is a horrible design for what’s supposed to be a competitive mode.
Two months ago, YB was locked, had no link, and could barely find a single map queue on reset.
It’s happened to more than just JQ. And it’s not fun when it’s happening to you.
And yet, both YB and BG are open right now and JQ is not. That just illustrates how poorly designed the linking is. We’d be better with just open Servers.
We could complain for them to lower the population threshold yet again.
This is the wrong way of thinking about balance and causes more imbalance. The Dev’s have fallen into this same thinking too which is exacerbating balance issues. The one thing that creates balance is the map queues. We must have sufficient populations to fill the maps! The lower we go from this level, the more opportunity there is for imbalances.

We certainly could use some more Craft-able items for essence of luck. Even if it was just fireworks of something completely silly. If it created MF boosters or mf foods, that would be great! For now I’m storing some and just consuming the rest to keep bag space. Probably going to need a mule just for essence of luck
I’m surprised this build isn’t that popular in NA
It was, it’s just boring to run and no one cares enough to be that bored.
Good find but, yeah Dev’s need to remove this illness from the game. Bleeping invuln’s and unblockables shouldn’t be in the game to begin with.
Obviously all someone has to do is cheese a Raid Boss with this and it’ll be fixed by next week.
The problem with Legendary Armor only being available in Raids is population. We only have so much time to play each week. Spending hours per week, for almost 4 months, is too long away from WvW. It’s diluting the already dwindling player base even further. Dev’s should be encouraging people to play WvW and not incentivizing players to play PvE.
We need Dev’s who’ll rally the kitten up and push for us!
but it was not using any glitches or mistakes in coding to produce those absurd results. Therefore, not an exploit.
I’m not sure why you keep arguing about the word “exploit.” ANet uses the word to refer to several types of situations, including the abuse of actual glitches or mistakes and the abuse of mechanics that otherwise work as intended.
In the context, ANet means for the word to illustrate a situation that requires urgent intervention on their part (e.g. disabling an item, as they did here).
What benefit is there from enforcing (in a grammatical sense) the strict interpretation that requires an actual bug?
Exactly this, this was not an exploit. Bugs and bad balancing are two completely separate things. People were simply using in game features exactly as they were designed to be used.
I’d recommend buying “HoT” from a local store. People have been finding great deals in Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc. Buying it local encourages stores to keep it on the shelves which is advertising for the brand. Also, encourages them to stock the next expansion too. Either that or buy it direct from the shop link on the top right of this web page.
Reminder, a lot of players are running SAB which reduces the production of material goods. Once SAB ends and the new LS episode is out, they’ll probably more supply again.
Abusing game mechanics allowed.
Friendlisted many afk farmers to check their status, they still “play” everyday for months.
Reported billions of them, opened tickets. Anet says it is forbidden and we “AWARE” “CARE”.
I don’t see any actions taken.
Be thankful as abusing the reporting feature is bannable too.
Maybe thats because people feel like anet has canceled the whole WvW-support. I saw I got aggressive and salty the last months. No reason to act like this in PvE. But WvW is just depressing.
I am sorry if players feel that way. I see it in posts, sure. But I believe we’ve made it clear that the game mode has not been abandoned. That was confirmed quite recently when a dev made some comments about upcoming changes.
Just pointing out that match up threads added passion to the game mode. We played for years without any updates, so it’s not the lack of updates. The problem is the lack of meaning in WvW. Dev’s have devolved the mode into a few guilds farming kills by running face first into each other, that’s it. No one really plays to win, cares to win, or cares about the World they reside in. Especially since we have no control over our overall performance with world linking/re-linking.
The mode needed MOAR salt added to give it meaning again. Anet has stifled player behavior to the point it choked off any and all competitive meaning. Forcing us to hold hands and sing Kumbaya during a War Simulation, is sending a mixed message and didn’t/doesn’t work well.
When players stop caring, they stop playing. At least, that’s how I see it as a Veteran WvW player.
i always see few in Kessex Hill , at the toxic plant location because i always go there when i do my Krytan forager.
The ones that are gathering are likely actual bots however, using software to press F on a timer. There are far more doing it than you’ll see standing there and I doubt anything will ever be done to them because they’re only in-game for a few seconds at a time. The ones farming trees in Orr are so obvious, and I’ve seen them around for years.
See, the bold is why the conversation turns pointless. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t park some of their characters at gathering nodes locations. When people are logging in and out of character to gather, it’s not a bot, it a person playing the game!
Players place some truly warped expectations of what other should be doing with their play time in game.
reporting a specific individual
The farming has definitely affected the price on specific items
One person isn’t having an impact on the TP by farming. What’s likely to occur is, an items price on the TP reaches a high enough ROI, and it is farmed by many. Collectively this has occurred after vast complaints on the forums like with vials of blood, linen, leather, platinum doubloons, Charged Lodestones, Essence of Light, etc. Once the demand is fulfilled and/or diminishes, price drops reducing the ROI. It’s a simple feedback loop that self repairs the market. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with farming. If it’s botted in some fashion, then yes that’s an issue. Though no one should be reporting anyone for simply killing the same mobs or gathering the same items. Farming is a form of game play and it’s good for the market.
Just curious if other people with multiple accounts have this problem.
Have you ever logged into your second account and jumped off of something really high, and only then remembered as you are tapping the spacebar furiously that you don’t have gliding on the second account?
Or is it just me? Cause I seem to do it at least three times per week.
All my accounts are HoT and kept as similar as possible. Though I do forget and face plant in WvW, FotM, Home Instances, etc.
I have managed to make it work with a hex edit.
I looked through the exe with HxD and found an instance that looked like G.u.i.l.d. .W.a.r.s. .2.
Freep’n bleep’n…. d’Grrr!!!!! This was staring me right in the face the other day and I didn’t think to change it because of it’s peculiar formatting. GJ on this Presac!
[quote=6541532;SlippyCheeze.5483:I mean, I imagine what they really mean is “I’m threatening to demand a refund unless you fix this”, but whatever, may as well honestly answer their question.[/quote]
You answered him exactly, we love this Freak’n game and invested a metric bleep ton into the franchise. I mean look, we’re all still here 5 years in. That’s pretty much hitting die hard fan fanatic levels, right?? I got withdrawals over the past 3 days from not playing!
The main goal with any method is to sustain player confidence in the product and preserve the original player experience. The difference with other launch methods is that you will more than likely lose the startup screen with the news feed, lose authentication, lose custom settings per account, individual documents folders for screen shots, etc. With the relabeling method, it’s the exact game experience! No modifying or altering of operating systems, creating user or faux user accounts, placing passwords in the open, involving 3rd parties, etc. Relabeling was the best way I ever could multi launch and preserve the original experience available. The one caveat I will say is that it requires a large volume of hard drive space to run multiple full copies in this fashion. I have SSD’s dedicated just to GW2.
Really wish the Dev’s could have figured out the “-multi” command line. Though for everyone’s benefit, I’d rather have them spend their time creating new content. So please Dev’s don’t mess up our relabel method, please?
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
Also, the work around previously mentioned above leave account information and passwords at risk.
Tampering with the executable puts your account at risk, but not really since they don’t have anti-cheat software.
I showed multiple ways of doing it. Only the quick and simple method shows your password, while the other two use separate Local.dat files. If you want to continue to modify the executable however, rename the mutex and use the setlocal batch I showed.
Relabeling a 2 to 3 in the exe was the workaround for the bugged command line “-multi”. The feature has been broken for years and has been tolerated by us because we had a reliable and safe workaround. What you’re asking is likely to be above most user’s. I wouldn’t even be comfortable asking a person to touch Powershell or run scripts. Restoring our relabeling is the best option right now. As it’s been for the past 4.5 years or so!
oh and editing to add a Thank you to Healix for the good work you did! I simply want a fix from Anet though.
oh, and adding that this thread is for running multiple simultaneous instances on Windows. Not just logging in and out of multiple accounts.
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
If you want a refund
NO! We want the play style we had since launch and the previous game.
Also, the work around previously mentioned above leave account information and passwords at risk. THAT is a safety issue and Anet needs to fix whatever they broke in the exe quickly.
Also, this is basically meaning GW2 is completely dead to me and many others.
Call us when it’s fixed back to as it’s been since launch!
editing to add that it’s not even just this game but, the franchise is dead to me until this has been resolved back to as it’s been. Even better, it should be fixed to not even require anything extra to run multiple clients than simply copies purchased of the game! Anet, understand how many copies of the game, then pre-orders of HOT was purchased? Plus, pre-orders of future expansions that would have been bought???
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
Alright. Thanks for the help. I was not aware editing the .exe in that way was a violation. I will go about it a different way then to avoid that and try your suggestion. Thanks…
It is not a violation. The method was from here, the forums, a month or so after launch. It works perfectly as the game itself a basically designed as a portable. If we modified the dat then that another issue.
These are both good changes.
Traps should have a 1 second arming time across the board and generally should not be something that you can reliably point-blank someone with.
They should have said that they added the strike so that your Venoms could be applied by traps ;^)
Yes, they should. As it stands traps aren’t really trap-like. This is a start, but it still left out 2 classes that have access to traps.
Because Traps in general are not a problem with the other classes. It WAS a problem with Thief traps and Thief traps only due to other Thief profession mechanics. Conflating issues out of spite will get you no where.
Price of T6 leather sections since farm released…..
You are fake news
That’s usually what’s screamed when faced with facts today. The graph is exactly from the day the “farm” was released til to time I posted it. Prices went up! Which shows the “farm” is ineffectual at driving down prices.
Here’s another fact, T5 leather increased over 60% prior to the farm til now!
A DPS meter is simply used to quantify a numerical value. What is done with that knowledge, that is the problem. If it’s abused and used to shame and divide the GW2 community, then it needs to be removed. So simply, don’t use the knowledge in such a fashion! Use it to build bonds and help teach one another.
idk, the leather farm did nothing and isn’t very good. Think I’ll spend today farming and see what can be done about leather.
This is not true, the leather farm works great, the problem is ppl still want things handed to them, and don’t want to put any effort into farming themselves, they want Anet to step in and nerf it.
Price of T6 leather sections since farm released…..
idk, the leather farm did nothing and isn’t very good. Think I’ll spend today farming and see what can be done about leather.
Yes, that is what I’m talking about! TY for the link. My question is, didn’t Anet get enough of a bad rap with “soon”? Having a sale one day saying “Sale Ending Soon” with a timer and then another sale without the timer is just a bucket of bunk.
Noticed yesterday’s sale of Shared Inventory slots did not have the timer. And, it’s actually quite annoying as I didn’t jump to purchase entirely since there wasn’t a timer yet.
Anyone else notice this?
Should there always be the 24 hr timer like the pic below?
Yaks Bend building siege isn’t why they’re locked of course. If that were the case they’d be locking a lot more server other than them.
you guys are funny but im being serious
Does it matter now, really? Most of us have given up on the mode as it’s evident the populations are “managed”.
Play, don’t play, whatever you find fun. Though expecting an answer on population after 4 years is just going to cause you frustration.
