Bad idea. GxGxG would be horrible. Instead move JQ to the China servers since that would be their prime time play, getting rid of the single most detrimental realm to the entire group of servers. Then break up smaller realms and merge them into the other larger ones.
JQ isn’t the problem; even if the scoring system was removed, nothing would change.
The first step (and only step) that will work within their scope of not having to do too much is combining the servers either under factions, colors, guilds, or whatever you wan’t to call it.
I think at this point in time, most would be happy with being able to go to any map with reasonably even competition; however, I don’t even think that will last long unless something drastic happens.
I honestly think they’re more excited to work on the likes of the Living story rather than WvW, pvp and dungeons. Probably because its more creative than working on the former, at least that’s what they think.
The problem with that is, I believe most people don’t even care about the story to begin with. They just want the achievements as fast as they can get then simply go back to whatever farming method they were prior to the update. Dry top I noticed was a ghost town about a week after it was introduced. If that doesn’t tell them that people generally don’t care, then I don’t know what will.
The devs care about every single profession, thinking otherwise is absolutely silly. ANet wants the best for this game, and that includes the best balance for every profession, this is not just their job, its what they live and breath all day every day. You can disagree with the changes they make, because they aren’t always right, but saying they specifically dislike certain professions, professions THEY made is just dumb.
I agree, I wouldn’t say they outright dislike certain professions, but they certainly seem to have favorites as they address their “favorite” classes considerably more.
I also don’t think they know what they really wan’t out of certain classes, but I also think pride is a huge factor as well. The pet (unless specifically traited for it, and in PvP), is next to useless. They can’t seem to make the pet work properly without outright removing it from the class. Of course they won’t remove it because that would insinuate they were wrong.
There is literally nothing they can do to fix it short of making it invulnerable but even then, Rangers are still at a disadvantage because the pet is also subjected to misses, glancing blows, and dodges. The Ranger’s dps will always be sub par.
Well Spectral Wall can cause piles of players marching to their death off a cliff neither of which the ring or line of warding can do.
In fact, I’d argue both of those need tremendous buffing to even bring it in line with spectral wall.
I think the exodus has already started in TC. As I said earlier, I’ve literally only seen one commander within the past 2 weeks (with the exception of K-train friday), and outnumbered every night.
I’m pretty much done with WvW, but not because of 2vs1 or being burned out, it’s because it’s become stale and boring. There is absolutely nothing new on the horizon or even a hint of things to come. I could care less if we ended up in T2 or T8, nothing would still change.
- Small additions to maps like we see currently in the living story
- NPC controlled siege and tower/keep lords buffing players (like siegerazer)
- Cannons mounted high enough that only siege can attack them
- Weekly achievements (like others have mentioned)
- WvW specific quests (like heart quests in PvE) except these are WvW specific
One more I just thought of, commanders should be able to pack up siege (perhaps through a commander only WXP ability rank. It can take a bit to pack up, but the main purpose behind it is to stop siege trolls in keeps. Also helps, slow down zergs while conserving gold.
Edit – Perhaps controlling everything on your borderland should offer double PPT.
I’ve noticed this too. The living story is not end game, WvW and sPvP is the end game because they are both dynamic (even despite no map changes). Anything you do in PvE basically fuels the former.
Running around through PvE maps (including dry top), the numbers just simply aren’t there anymore. I’m thankful I completed my dry top achievements when I did; this new set of content will be yesterdays news in 2 weeks or less.
Yes Gw2 is losing players, but games arent expected to hold people forever. If they do wan’t to keep people engaged, you do it through permanent content and you do it by addressing your end game.
Of course not everyone will agree with me, but the numbers speak for themselves; there just aren’t as many people in these maps anymore.
There really is nothing stopping anyone from forming their own guild (or group) and going in wiping the floor with them. Much like the 2vs1 that went on in Season 2, people argued till they were blue in the face about what was right or wrong, but the bottom line is, Anet will do nothing about it because what is fun for one person isn’t fun for another. If 2 servers wan’t to conspire (or in this case 3 with a particular guild), then so be it.
The thing with EoTM (the map) is that people go into karma train meaning they don’t seem to gear themselves for PvP (or trait for it either), at least that’s my experience when attacking them judging by how much damage I do. It doesn’t take much effort to organize a group, gear yourself for PvP and semi-coordinate yourself and easily take out groups 2-3x your size. My guardian alone yesterday I think won a 6 or a 7vs1 after our group got jumped.
Now given I suck at PvP (but I am geared as a tanky min/max) type, it doesn’t take much to take out players if geared and traited for it. If you wan’t to counter EoTM, grab a group, gear yourself, go in and wipe the floor with them. I think WvW guilds from time to time do just that to anyone there.
People will keep transfering from dying worlds because there’s nobody playing on WvW on them and sometimes you won’t even see anyone from the enemy team for hours either (except for the ocasional roamer). And because these worlds are generally at the bottom of the leaderboard, people will transfer out of them since they don’t see a way to climb tiers/ranks without an active and healthy WvW population. And this creates a vicious cycle of server tranfers that never ends.
Free transfers to bottom servers wouldn’t help because nobody wants to join a dying server. There’s no reason to. I say just merge the bottom servers and be done with it. I don’t think it’s an extremely hard thing to do since a lot of online games have done it before, and they’re still alive in kicking, (just look at WoW).
I imagine Anet doesn’t want to go that way because then there would be even more “THIS GAME IS DYING!!” threads on the forums and that would probably be bad for the game and the company’s image. However, most competitive games at least give you a chance of winning. On Gw2 there is no possible way for a bottom server to ever recover, unless a miracle happens and 10 guilds decide to tranfer to a dying world… Good luck with that!
I don’t think it matters at this point for people to transfer. T1 itself seems to be dying. I rarely go into a map that isn’t outnumbered, nor do I rarely see the enemy. If I do see a zerg, they are about the same size as I remember when I left T8.
The only real option at this point is, as you said, merging the bottom servers. I honestly think if we were to take all the players and placed them in as many servers as necessary to have decent coverage 24/7, I think we’d be left with 2 tiers (6 servers).
Even as we speak, prime time on T1 on my server were still outnumbered 3 out of the 4 maps most nights (sometimes outnumbered all 4). EoTM you can always find a zerg to run with but the problem is, it’s all karma train. Now that’s fine if you want to level up an alt or just feel like running around capturing things with little engagement, but I don’t see how this will keep people occupied for much longer.
I agree that EoTM should become part of the WvW score rotation which even further reinforces why servers should be combined in such a way it’s faction vs faction, guild vs guild, or color vs color (whatever you wan’t to call it). I think EoTM is a perfect example of what WvW maps would look like (numbers wise) if servers were in fact combined. All maps should have enough players to keep fully stocked most of the day.
I think you’ll find most servers dead at the moment, even in T1.
WvW is the end game, they never truly realized that…Instead they chose to keep believing that people killing trash mobs with different skins every 2 weeks was the “real end game”.
Because people who have nothing better to do than farm trash mobs for 20-30 hours a week are the same kind of people who spend $100+ a month on cosmetic stuff and Anet has known it from the start.
The sad thing is it will keep working well into the future as long as Anet can keep the mindless grind junkies paying 2-3 times more per month than they ever would on a sub based game.
While I slightly agree with this statement, my personal experience recently has been even the PvE maps are a complete ghost town with tumbleweed rolling through. I am lucky I finished all my achievements in Dry top last week because I have not seen anyone around on that map in days.
I just wish Anet would realize (or maybe NCsoft I should say), that people will only spend money when they remain engaged. As of now, judging by what I see in WvW and PvE people are losing interest fast.
The last 4 weeks:
First Places: JQ three times, BG one time
Second Places: TC three times, JQ one time
Third Places: BG three times, TC one timeIf we apply the S2 score system (1st gets 5 points, 2nd gets 3 points and 3rd gets 1 point):
JQ: 16 points
TC: 10 points
BG: 8 pointsWhy would TC not belong in T1, when it is doing even better than BG overall? We all know that both servers would just kitten kitten up in T2, they don’t belong there. If there’s something “wrong” in T1, it would be JQ, but I really don’t mind their chinalike population, it provides a lot of fun fights.
The secret is to stop worring about PPT. It’s a stupid system that just measures one server’s population.
Because a lot of things have changed since then. Running around with the outnumbered buff on 3 out of the 4 maps during prime time. Reset night having 4 outnumbered maps 2hrs after reset
I’ve literally only seen one commander on this past week. I know of at least 4 decent size guilds that have either quit all together or changed servers. Not that I really care now as I’m getting extremely bored with WvW.
Ultimately I think it’s just sheer boredom. You can only fight the same people on the same maps so many times before it’s time to call it quits. Season 2 had a bit of new life in it due to the competitive nature, but now that it’s over with no changes and nothing on the horizon, I truly believe most people at this point are just leaving the game for good.

Nope months without anything. Still surprise A-net has been ignoring wvw for so long. Thought wvw would at least get one of those before/after season but no.Not even a minor update.
An interesting thing I noticed last night, when you compare the last time a dev posted in WvW to other forum areas like PvP, Living World, gates of maguuma, general discusson etc..
WvW it’s been 3 months, while the rest have either been a week or less. Not only that, when you look at things like profession balance, it’s a ghost town in there as well, which by the way is also 3 months or so.
Now I might be biased in saying this, but it’s in my opinion that the 2 biggest things that need addressing in this game are WvW and profession balance. Ironically, neither of them (or addressing them I should say) will make them any money.
Kinda like how ranger’s pet birds take falling damage :/
They should just do it already before everyone is gone.
The way I look at it is this; lets figuratively say there are currently 25,000 people who WvW at the moment between all servers (on NA). Inputting such a change will probably anger maybe 5,000 of them, and half of those may leave to find another game. I use this number because it seems only roughly 20% of people oppose this idea judging by what’s read on the forums. Because Anet has no other way of telling who opposes it or is for it, they have to go by what’s read here.
So were down to 20,000; now how many will come back when they hear matches are now even? If Anet puts in a whole set of achievements for each “faction” or “guild”, or whatever you want to call them, how many more do you figure might be intrigued enough to come back or even join?
It’s my feeling that WvW will gain a lot more than they will lose with a change like this. This should be a win in everybody’s eyes.
I don’t believe people have a problem with jumping puzzle content, they just don’t want it added to the main story. They either just plain suck at jumping, don’t like it, or maybe because of some physical disability, they can’t do it. Either way, IMO, jumping puzzles should be optional only content that doesn’t interfere with the story (or living story) in any way. It hasn’t before, so why all of a sudden does it now.
So what’s optional content? To me, it’s anything that doesn’t interfere with either your personal story, the living story or map completion. Things like sPvP, WvW, World Bosses, jumping puzzles, and crafting are optional.
So, the best way to quiet down the pro jumping story crowd to teach them that maybe there is a time and place for jumping puzzles and it’s not meant for the living story…
Create a new map attached to dry top with a new living story, set of achievements, and new recipes and items for those who complete it.. but, make it an open world PvP map. To complete the living story, you have to survive, if not, too bad so sad, don’t expect Anet to cater to you, because there are people who like PvP, and it’s optional content remember?
Sure I’m fine with this as long as I don’t have to step foot in a dungeon to get the things needed for a legendary
Actually, there are rarely any queues in T1 these days, and if there are it is usually just one map. Even this last reset in T1 servers reported problems in filling all the maps.
That being said, if you really aren’t interested in T1 [insert subliminal message]come to Tarnished Coast[/insert] then you will probably find SoS and FA sort of equal but opposite powers: SoS overpowers FA during Oceanic/SEA and FA overpowers SoS during NA.
This is indeed true.. about 2hrs into reset last week in T1 on our server, all 4 maps we were outnumbered. I have a feeling at last 2 servers from T1 will fall to T2 very shortly.
I zerg because I find solo roaming or small group fighting boring, non-challenging, and unrewarding.
Warrior’s Mobility should get nerfed..
nope. warrior’s optional mobility is fine and balanced.
further adjustments no necessary.seriously why does heavy armor class can outrun every class while having everything?
incorrect. they can only outrun every other professions provided if they have equipped:
- sword as main weapon: savage leap (600 forward leap)
- great sword: whirlwind attack (450 forward whirl) and rush (1200 forward run)
- both of the above
- hammer: earthshaker (600 ground targeted aoe leap, requires level 1 adrenaline)all of the above movement skills can be easily stopped with easily applied movement impairing conditions such as:
- crippled
- chilled
- immobilizevarious control effects will stop the warrior’s weapon movement skills:
- fear
- knock back
- pull
- knock down
- daze
- stun
- petrifiedyour statement about “warriors having everything” is false and incorrect, because warriors equipping the following weapons do not have good movement skills:
- rifle
- long bow
- axe as main weapon (only 300 leap with eviscerate, requires adrenaline)
- mace as main weaponplease stop spreading false and incorrect information.
I wouldnt complain about warrior having high hp/high tough and high power but they have some crazy burst mobility that other classess hardly chase down..
incorrect. warriors only have decent movement skills if they equip themselves with the right weapons.
such unfair..
it is fair, please do not make such unfair statements about the warrior profession.
Stability/stunbreak, completely invalidates your argument.
Now I suppose if a warrior has none of those utility skills at their disposal, then that’s their own fault. We both know however, nearly every single warrior is running both, + there is no guarantee the opposing class is running the required thing to stop them in the rare event they don’t have those utilities equipped.
At this stage in the game, I don’t believe it matters anymore. A lot of people have quit the game or moved to different servers anyway. I’d be more questioning why a guild is paying for your transfer to be there when realistically, there is an excellent chance that there are large portions of the day when they have no one to fight.
If anything, they should be paying you to go to the opposing server.
Considering I could consider myself lucky in that I’ve gotten about 5 or 6 pieces of ascended equipment in WvW (both accessories and armor), the fact that all of it is completely useless to me makes salvaging it very appealing.
It would really be nice to have something to spend the thousands of badges I have on though. I’m not about to buy the WvW exotic gear when it doesn’t work with any of my builds; and one can only buy so many supply traps. Seems only fitting that ascended gear would have been a perfect badge sink.
At this point in time it just seems to make sense to cluster the remaining people into however many servers required. Perhaps there only needs to be 6-8 as opposed to 24 to have decent match-ups 24/7.
They don’t even need to do that. Just make the borderlands like eotm and start with one instance of it. As it fills up spawn a new instance to get more players into. All the green servers get paired together, all the red, all the blue.
No, not a perfect solution but it would keep the maps full, and the fights going. Since they’ve released the mega-server there’s not really any server pride to be worried about.
You really don’t get it. This is a horrible idea. People like seeing familiar faces in WvW. They like playing with the same people. The EotM structure is horrible for that.
They need a new map. We haven’t had a new WvW map since launch (EotM is a PvE karma train map and is way too unbalanced to ever be in WvW). People are bored with the same 2 maps every week.
With all due respect, it is you who is not getting it. One of the primary complaints in these match-ups is that they are stale. Seeing the same enemies week after week after week. From what I’ve read when these threads pop up; the people opposed to this are few and far between, so the question is, why should everyone else who plays WvW and wants action, migrate to the few who wan’t to see the same faces?
Case and point, reading through this topic, your the only poster in here who seems to be opposed to it, and this type of opposition is consistent with the rest of these threads.
You will see the same faces under a system like this but you will also see new people, and far more new enemies, guilds, and you should have action 24/7 whenever you log on. For the life of me, I can’t see why anyone would be opposed to this.
Of course this is one of the many complaints, needing a new map is another one which I completely agree with. There is nothing proving that the new map won’t be used as a karma train either.
A perfect scenario would be where an Alliance system or Color system is set up and players can freely choose to jump to whatever alliance or color they wish to fight for that day. They can see all the instances of each map and can see how many are on each map. Guilds can then safely GvG whenver they wan’t, everyone will have action 24/7.
Use catapults instead of rams then, no need to worry about AC’s. In fact, AC’s need a bit of tweaking. Their 4th skill should be replaced by something that does triple damage to rams.

I know this has been brought up before and I 100% agree with it. I don’t think Anet will do it though. I do believe it pretty much is a necessity at this point given the lack of overall numbers lately.
I agree with the OP 100%; we even crossed paths with QT last night on one of the BL’s
We have to keep in mind though, games aren’t meant to hold on to people forever. People come and go and find new games; we also find new tastes. Unless a new game comes out that fully revolutionizes the industry (like WoW did), don’t expect a game to keep people entrenched for a number of years.
I believe MMO’s should keep it’s fans engaged for at least 3 years with regular updates and what not. When companies start to lose focus and set their sites on other things less important to it’s fans, that’s when people are left with a sour taste in their mouth.
I’ll buy the fact that people do take extended breaks in the summer; however, there is a big difference in ques and volume of guilds between last summer and this summer. There is a considerable drop off.
It could just be my server, but from what I’m reading, it isn’t. Can someone claim WvW isn’t dying if “their” server seems to be flourishing while the other 23 possibly aren’t?
At this point in time it just seems to make sense to cluster the remaining people into however many servers required. Perhaps there only needs to be 6-8 as opposed to 24 to have decent match-ups 24/7.
Make the last story instance soloable. Nobody I know want’s to do it because of the length of time and the boring factor.
The interrupt bug is still active, happened to me about 15 min ago. I know the exact coin it was as well. Dropped down, started to pick up and was interrupted by a devourer. Coin disappeared and never got credit.
Edit – It’s coin 15 on Dulfy’s guide that didn’t count
(edited by DeadlySynz.3471)
And this is why developers normally avoid telling anyone anything about their products until they’re almost ready for release.
Even Peter Molyneux learnt that lesson.
The developers have to tell people what’s going on or they will lose interest. Best thing they can do, tell the people, then follow through.
Worst case scenario – Say nothing, do nothing (World vs World)
Second worst case scenario – Say something then don’t follow through
Use auto run on wall.
Don’t get kicked.
Farm for days.Anet should be able to fix that.
Oh wait… hahahah right this is Anet we’re talking about.
This doesn’t work. Auto-running still gets you booted in WvW after a certain number of min. Believe me, i’ve tried while I made dinner lol.
I’ve always thought it’d be better just to give map-wide rewards. Perhaps full reward for partaking in the task, and half of the reward if your not part of it.
I’d personally much prefer an expansion over LS updates. I’m not a fan of this current update but if i grit my teeth and bare it, I’d probably have the achievements finished up in less than a week.
From there, what else is there to do? Nothing has happened in any of the current maps, and WvW is being completely neglected.
Now I have no idea if Anet is even working on an expansion, but if we compare Gw2 to the likes of World of Warcraft, I’d tend to think that Blizzard would crank out much larger content in a shorter amount of time than Anet. We all know that Blizzard is slow as molasses when it comes to releasing or fixing anything.
I think it was 3yrs before the 1st expansion was released, and the 2nd was released 1 yr later. Were approaching the 2yr anniversary here with Gw2, and if Anet hasn’t even started work on an expansion yet (if they are doing one), there is no way it’ll be finished by the 3rd year, let alone a 2nd expansion the following year.
I don’t like to draw comparisons, but is constant living story content really a better option than actual content packed expansions? Are they really going to make more profit off small LS updates as opposed to expansion releases?
I’ve been eyeing up Archeage myself but it has it’s faults.. ones I can already see relating to bad economy. Havn’t decided whether i’ll make the switch or not when it’s actually released.
Ya I’ll say it’s dying, I have never seen on reset night, all 4 maps outnumbered 2.5hrs into reset. If that doesn’t spell a dying game mode (or game) I don’t know what does. Even last summer I don’t remember this happening.
Wait… so if you are outnumbered on every map, wouldn’t that mean that there are plenty of people on the opposing servers?
It might simply be a case of your server “dying” rather than the whole game.
Well it wouldn’t be the 1st time a T1 server bit the dust; however, judging from what I’m reading and hearing, there are multiple ones going through the same thing. I know they aren’t transfers as quite a few guilds have up and left the game completely.
The other 2 T1 servers don’t seem to be lacking, they looked to be completely full judging from the numbers I saw out there.
Ya I’ll say it’s dying, I have never seen on reset night, all 4 maps outnumbered 2.5hrs into reset. If that doesn’t spell a dying game mode (or game) I don’t know what does. Even last summer I don’t remember this happening.
It’s good as long as the group your dropping it on doesn’t have a few people with the retaliation buff. If they do, you literally will die in 1 second or less, it’s funny yet sad at the same time.
It’s much better used as a sneak attack weapon.. like on an unsuspecting group who just dropped rams and are PvD’ing door. Kill a lot of baddies that way.
WvW is going to be very deserted for the majority of the summer I imagine. With major fluctuations in server activity. Right now on Jade Quarry, we are constantly outnumbered (or at least in EBG, where I spend most of my time) while the other two servers seem to be running 50+ man zergs.
Bear in mind that isn’t a complaint, just an observation, and I really feel that this will continue for the next couple of months. Who knows, next week it might be us that outnumbers them, I don’t know.
Either way, I wouldn’t say WvW is dying it’s just less active because of summer and the recent PvE release (Dry Top.)
On TC, we seem to be outnumbered 3 out of the 4 maps, and lately I havn’t seen us tick higher than 175. I do believe, this will continue long through summer. I know of a couple of large guilds that have left the game permanently.
I laugh at some people’s assumptions that warriors having no apparent teleport, stealth, pets, or clones are weaknesses or a means of balancing around other classes. This couldn’t be further from the truth.
Mobility – Greater than any teleport in the game. Teleport is not negated by their mobility but it completely surpasses it.
Stealth – If your using means of stealth to run away from a warrior, that wouldn’t be a a warrior weakness, that’d be your inability to deal with them and a weakness on your part. You also have to take into consideration if the warrior is carrying a rifle, I’ve downed many thieves and mesmers with kill shot as they pop out of stealth running away. Not to mention, they can usually still be caught due to mobility.
Pets – This shouldn’t even be mentioned, pets are a liability due to their atrocious AI skills, and inability to dodge heavy AoE (pulling them out of battle is a weakness on the Rangers part because now their dps suffers. I mained a Ranger long before any other class, their pets do not help them, they hinder them. Those who think they found a good build that works with their pet are only fooling themselves if they think they can take out a decent warrior.
Clones – Same as pets, completely useless. A warrior without clones does not put them at a disadvantage in anyway.
The only thing I can think of that might be a weakness for a warrior, is in the hands of a player whom think’s their invincible. Stroll into battle thinking they are godly only to get wiped out because they in fact think they are invincible.
The threads aren’t calling for an end to jumping puzzles, they are calling for an end to adding them to the main story; major difference. It’s perfectly fine having them as part of a side quest bonus somewhere on the map for those who truly love jumping. I don’t think any player in the game will complain about that.
It’s like Anet adding story content requiring a lvl 80 Ranger to complete then arguing in favor of “well people love Rangers, so please keep adding Lvl 80 Ranger story content” Not everyone is going have access to a Lvl 80 Ranger, not everyone likes playing a Ranger, and not everyone is capable of playing a Ranger efficiently. Then the “Pro-Ranger” crowd pipes up and says “well, we love Rangers, so please keep adding the content” “You don’t need to complete it, it’s optional” (despite it being part of the story.
I’m going to be serious mode here okay
You are complaining about optional content in a game that is all optional content and “play how you want”
This is literally a non-issue because you can just ask for a mesmer port. You don’t even have to know a mesmer. I bet if you asked map chat you’d find someone to do it for you.
Complaining about not being able to do one small portion of the game is completely silly when you can flat-out bypass it.
It’s like if I were to complain that since I’m bad at maths, they should remove the TP because I can’t play the TP to get money.
Don’t take this as a knock against your physical limitations, it’s not meant as one, but I’m just trying to point out that there is already an in-game way to bypass this instead of demanding that anet tailor make its experience around you specifically
The easiest and best solution though that should work for everybody is to just not add the jumping puzzle to the main content or story. Have it like every other map where you have to venture off to a remote area to partake in the jumping puzzle. Nobody should be against something like this; if anything, they’d have reason to make the JP ridiculously harder than this one currently is.
This way, nobody should feel restricted in partaking in the actual story. If someone complains they don’t like questing/fighting in an MMO and would rather jump around like Super Mario as part of the main story line, then an MMO is not for them. Jumping puzzles were fine as they were, optional content away from the main story line void of map completion. Yes I am aware this new map isn’t needed for map completion, but apparently if you wan’t to progress the story it’s needed.
The OP’s idea would work with a few changes. The best way I can forsee this working is putting in a reward/achievement system based on each Alliance, Guild, Faction, Color (whatever you wan’t to call it, it’s all the same). That way people have reason to not stick to one particular alliance.
Reward System:
- Give each Alliance it’s own set of achievements to work towards
- Give each Alliance it’s own set of WxP and Masteries for each alliance (in addition to what we have now)
- Give class mastery linked to each alliance (more reason to play all classes)
- Give weekly WvW achievements granting a chest for completion (Weeklies)
- Finally give 3 chests for 1st, 2 chests for 2nd, 1 chest for third (chance of pre-cursor)
- Most importantly, have WvW specific quests that grant extra PPT (hourly)
Take this system, and don’t restrict players to any alliance. The key allow them to freely hop as they please (yes no more gem transfers). Perhaps if there are seasonal competitions, then lock players in, though Anet should not announce it, just lock them , then announce. Aside from that, let them roam. Anet can find a much better way to monetize WvW if they introduce WvW specific goodies or skins linked to each alliance.
Make multiple instances of each map to handle the appropriate amount of people, and we should be fine.
- You will meet more people, gain new friends, as your not restricted to “your server”
- You now have ton more of achievements to work towards
- The coverage problem is now solved (numbers are now semi-even 24/7)
- No more stale matches
Well the only logical solution is to combine servers into either factions, colors, guilds, or whatever you want to call it.
It will inevitably happen at one point, as this current system is pretty much a failure in all Tiers.
You need to have the same stacking sigil on your underwater weapon. It was a stupid change and Anet knows about it but they have yet to comment.
The annoying part about that is it doesn’t even work half the time when you do have your underwater weapon equipped with the sigil.
Not sure why they ever bothered to do this; I figured they wanted to expand play, not limit it.
I’ve spent maybe close to $200 or so. That being for enough character slots for all classes, maxed out collection expanders, as well as, infinite use node harvesters. Aside from that though, I can’t see any real use in spending more. Usually the cosmetic stuff doesn’t do it for me, i’m more about convenience, that’s why the Living story is a dead zone for me in regards to spending.
What I would gladly spend more money on is an expansion
Ya tower defending is a joke. Granted there should always been a counter to whatever offense or defense is being used by either side. Despite this, the only real defense a tower has is placing a scout to notify the map zerg in a timely manner.
Anything currently a tower has at it’s disposable is easily countered or destroyed by the attackers:
Siege on Walls: AoE Damage (Zerk Ele can easily flatten anyone around the siege before they react), Can’t reach siege? Stack on rams, out-heal AC’s
Door Treb: Use a catapult, or simply out-heal it on rams (did this yesterday with ease)
Door Catapult: Same as above
Ballista destroying catapults: Use rams
Cannons or Oil: Self-Explanatory, melt in seconds (no pun intended)
Best defense: Scount; Help, zerg attacking, “X” amount at door with rams
As much as I don’t like conditions, if we instituted your proposed changes, what point would their being in picking a condition build over a full zerker build? As of now, I have no trouble taking out condition builds in full dire gear, but with these changes, it would make things ridiculously easy.
If your having trouble killing condition classes off, run a full zerker build, any class should do (well maybe not ranger), but aside from them, should be a cakewalk. You should easily be able to out-dps the conditions.
I like it.
I’d like it even better if they changed WvW to faction vs faction, then institute a system that gave achievements and loyalty points/xp.
Achievements – Basically as it sounds, specific to the faction
Loyalty Points/XP – Functions the same was as WxP except now you spend these points on faction ranks that give additional bonuses whenever you fight for that faction
Ideally, players would have high ranks in all 3 factions, as well as, achievement completion so gem sales are still encouraged. They just wouldn’t be encouraged before seasonal competitions. In the end though, players whom stuck with their “server” since day 1 and never transferred now have more reason to transfer once their completed their faction ranks. Anet, may end up making more money in the end off gem sales.
Not a perfect system, but a better system than what we have none the less. The whole server vs server system based around PvP was a failure right out of the starting blocks. It works fine for PvE; in fact I’d argue in PvE it worked better than our current megaserver.
Gw2 should have been either color vs color, faction vs faction, or guild vs guild right from the start. If it was, the coverage problem we have wouldn’t even be a thought at the moment.
I don’t want to speak for everybody but I’m going to take a wild guess that when an individual logs onto WvW, they will have more fun facing off against equal numbers in closer match ups.
I do hope, Anet gives some serious thought to combining all servers into 3 somehow either through a major update or even in an expansion. It would take some re-tooling WvW but I think it will be worth it in the end as it’d take care of our biggest problem in WvW.
Aha… Guard at your Position, then Spam condi kitten while on apothecary/settler gear. So much skill…
Thats Not counterplay, Thats godmode vs thieves and pu mes
Well conversely, the thieves and PU mesmers can change their build then to counter a Rangers “guard” build then. Nobody is forcing thieves or Mesmers to spam stealth till the cows come home, find a different way to play, remember it’s counter play, not whining 101 about god mode.
