Folly, plenty of the the old GW players play this game now (like me) and aren’t dooches (remove second ‘o’ replace with ‘u’) about it. WM was legit in GW (tons of respect for them collectively), but that guy is clearly a clown, and so is anyone that says they would roll the top teams if only they felt the game was worthy of their effort. Winners win. Babies cry.

The fact that there are big tournaments in Guild Wars 2 PvP that are happening and that the competitive teams enjoy the playing the game competitively make every post anyone has ever made about this game being easy, not fun, or another QQ post because someone hasn’t figured out how to kill a S/D thief yet, invalid.

I agree with you that “not much” competition exists, but competition is still there. There are more than 8 good teams. I’d been in the loop with MLG since the invites were first sent out and they went through MULTIPLE teams that couldn’t make the designated time for the tournament (EU and NA teams).

There is a bright future for PvP, I can assure you that. I’d be willing to bet that there is A LOT of BIG PvP stuff coming within the next couple of months. Anyone willing to bet against me please seek me in-game and we’ll make a bet for like several million gold that I don’t have because I know I’ll win the bet. <3

These tournaments aren’t big. I am sure MLG is doing a test audience to see if GW2 is worth time on their end. Guild Wars World Championship was big. Guild Wars Factions Championship was big. Hell even the online based Celestial tournament was big.

8 good teams on a game that is 1 year old as opposed to the 8 year old game of Guild Wars 1 that has more than 8 good* teams.

I am hoping for the success of GW2 as much as any other diehard GW1 fan is, but I am a skeptikittenil I see a PvP format worth competing in.

I am also hoping for gvg but i dont see it happeneing sadly , we and my guild are not into easy mode arcade lack of skills pvp , so looks like eso for WM sorry

Actually resources is stopping them, the fact that game doesn’t do too well when more than 10 people are in 1 area.

The fact that gvg only appeals to a small but vocal bunch that will evitably be the first to jump ship, like they always do anyways.

No offense taken. I’ve heard of War Machine. Much more into the WvW scene if I recall correctly.

I’ve got nothing against WvW or even some GvG matches in the borderlands. However, there is a great deal of skill involved in sPvP, and in my personal opinion I’d say a bit more. 1 person in sPvP will make or break a fight. You can be carried through GvG fights much easier.

They were the top 16 teams, so getting there had to take a fair amount of skill. End result this is the best sPvP team in Guild Wars and they have my congrats.

Well The old rose tinted glasses syndrome applies in all things but saying this i think gw2 spvp lacks , thats my opinion , Im an old pvp player from gw1 , and i have given this pvp a good chance , r 41 and double champion titles . I just find it un rewarding in time spent/rewards etc .. but i think everyone knows this so ill stop banging on about it ..

Just A few things Needed to make Quality of life a lot better and Get people using this great in game tool

1. Timestamp (when group was made) i joined a group and the leader said ah sorry we couldent get more so decided to do something else and i forgot to disband

2. Some way to see which paths you have done/not done in dungeons tab

3. Is it X server ? or only your own server ? not sure But it needs to be cross server atm nobodys using the tool and its still hard to find groups for dungeons/story mode dungeons

This Year has flown by , only seems a few weeks AGO that Tixx was here lol :P

What was your highs n lows of the first year of GW2 ?

Highs , Flame n frost really liked the dungeon at the end , Also Halloween and tixx were also great events . A lot of general improvements and achievement Points added

Lows , Karka Event , Overflows , lack of spvp progression/rewards and guild spvp

have all 8 classes , not max tho play them all , keeps it interesting for me at least , also atm you need to goto many zones for materials so its nice to hop on a toon and go grab mats n level up at same time :P

This Has been happening since the game released , very annoying Also i might add , especially in PVP . But i have noticed the target switch’s if you hit any target with splash/aoe damage too

Since this Latest patch i am unable to get into sparkfly fen to Do the new content as i am always in the overflow…

My home server is Blackgate , and we have so many guests and AFK people in sprakfly fen leeching the event for achievements which means Active home server players cannot do the event

This is unacceptable and needs a fix a.s.a.p A lot of the blackgate players are very unhappy the ones ive spoken to in overflows

The last 3 living world patch,s have been nothing but frustrating , i would have sooner The devs made the existing content much better . Also a totally new Zone with permanent content like crystal desert or cantha i think would have been so much better. I think . Im sorry and this is just my personal opinion and im sure some people like the living world content but i find it really shallow …

I think the biggest problem is that Teq is currently a bit too much of a good thing. Teq + Mobs? Great! Teq + Fingers? Great! Teq + Timer? Great? Teq + Timer + Mobs + Fingers + Contested Waypoint? Not so great.

This is just from my experiences last night. Show up around 8 PM, Divinity’s Reach. I get there just in time to watch Teq fly off, but figure I can wait around until the next one. I go and do some nearby quests and events, get in some mining. 9 rolls around… No Teq. Well, ok. Find some teeth. 9:30 rolls around… Still no Teq. Finally, around 9:48, Teq appears! He gets an awesome swoop by, lands, the guns open fire. I’m gonna fight a dragon!

Er, hold that thought. Sorry, Teq, I know you’re the main attraction and all but you’re just going to have to settle for staring at the turrets shooting at you, since these runty little undead asurans and those krait want to play pinball, and apparently I’m the ball. At least, I THINK it was the asurans and krait. Honestly couldn’t see what I was bouncing off of, I just know I would randomly go flinging around the screen while my control failed to do anything. Then I die, go to the WP, and lose a minute and half dodging brutes and slavers while I try to get back to the fight.

I stab a krait, shoot a brute, kill a couple of Fingers and hey! I got the wave jumping achievement! Er, not really sure how, I only actually saw one or two waves, but I’ll take it. I pop a couple of shots at Teq, then get pulled into another game of pinball. Dead once more, its back to the waypoint.

Another minute and a half gone as I run back. Dodge the poison clouds, dodge the krait, shoot the dragon aaaaand its another game of pinball, this one dumping me back in a poison cloud. Back to the WP.

I have now spent nearly a third of event running back and forth between the WP and the fighting, but I charge back in. Get slammed around by a couple more invisible waves and things, but whatever. Shoot the dragon, shoot the mobs, shoot the mobs again, get poisoned again, nearly bite it a fourth time…

Then Teq gets up and flies off. I can’t really blame him, I mean its HIS show and everyone is ignoring him as they fight off evil sticks, midget zombies, and cowboy snakes. Sure, he’s taken a few lumps but c’mon! He’s a frickin’ undead dragon and now one is paying any attention to him! I’d have flown off too! Meanwhile, I’m out the ten or so silver its going to take for armor repairs and WP costs and have no desire to wait around for another two hours to waste it again.

Teq doesn’t need to be nerfed. Teq is fine. The timer needs to be extended, and the waypoint needs to be removed from contested, but other than that I would be willing to do it again.
