@Vinceman
Even though most of your arguments are perfectly legit, this does not excuse the toxicity of the community. Whether you tell someone “Sorry can’t join, we don’t have time to teach people we don’t know” or “Get out you’re too noob [insert random teenager insult]” take the same amount of energy/time.
One is adult, one is just a show off that mostly mean “Hey Im in a guild that did raids so I was able to learn before you did and now you’re stuck hahahaha newb” or something like that.
And this is completely ridiculous.
This a game, some people simply forget it, if you’re not willing to help players, that’s indeed your right, but don’t insult them for trying. As you said, everyone plays the way they want, if someone wants to jump into a raid without knowing a kitten about them, it’s also their right, but it doesnt deserve the trash talk.
I got a gold focus yesterday, which I salvaged and mystic forged into… another focus! yay RNG! No but seriously, I agree, Ive played fractals every day for months, Ive gotten like 6 gold fractal weapons since HoT (and hum, 3 times a shield in a row, RNG loves me) and only 1 gold relic.
I understand that those are rare weapons, and they NEED to stay rare, but it takes TEN golden relics to make the weapon you want. Giving out a bit more golden relics would at least give the illusion that we make some progress.
I’m not asking to give golden weapons away for free, just to give us a way to not completely rely on RNG to get them:
- 1 fractal journal against 1 golden relic, it’s 21 days for 1 golden relic, 84 days for 1 random weapon. It won’t ruin the skin rarity before a while.
- 100 pristine relics against 1 golden relic (just another idea)
If you won’t give away golden relics, maybe consider trading the journals against AR+10/11/12 items? so you know, it won’t be a joke to get 5 * AR+16 in order to avoid using the +7 versa infusions to get to 150 AR. It’s good that they’re there, but some of us paid a lot for mighty infusions, and we can’t really use them.
While we’re at it, is there any plan for fractal armor, or fractal golden back pack?
This patch was truly great btw, it’s a pleasure to not see Moss’s face that often anymore :p
If you can’t play zerk, play something else, till you get better at dodging (or knowing when to dodge) and till you know the fight better.
I always found the “fast – all zerker” pug group to be silly. Okay you can potentially deal more damage but if you constantly have to heal or rez a down, you’re actually losing time. Having a full ascender zerk gear doesnt mean that you actually know how to play zerk.
It’s not just about being good in general, it’s also knowing the fight, knowing when to dodge, what to do after each move. Bit like playing a new Dark Souls, you might suffer a bit more at the first playthrough, then it’s super easy
While it’s relatively forgiveful in low fractals, it isnt in T3, even less in T4. Fighting moss for months won’t make you better at the Aetherblade boss for example, you need some training.
Again, I will never stop saying it, you can use the gear you want, the weapons you want, if you don’t have experience with it, and not a big experience with the encounter, you will die.
Have you exhausted the idea that it may be you? Maybe you’re not a good or experienced player (Not assuming you are or anything but I had a very easy time getting in to raids with little-no experience). And a really good and very underrated idea imo is if you want to look like a good or experienced player, look like one. Equip all the shinies you have on your character so people know you haven’t just hit lvl 80.
His post was not about him being super good, it’s him wanting to be honest and find groups to learn with, and he’s right, a lot of elitists will check your stuff beforehand.
There’s nothing wrong with not being good, as long as you’re willing to learn, but unlike fractals for example there is no level of difficulty setting that will let you learn the mechanics of raids. And that’s the real problem here.
You also get ascended mat now… in 3 fractals t4 I got 2 elonian squares and 1 bold of damask… gives a lot of money.
Please Anet, can you make it happen?
Most of us who play Fractals on a daily basis have a few extra of them now, what can we use them for? Selling them for 20 silvers…
It feels to me that spending 21 days for 20 silvers is kinda lame, with how rare golden fractal relics are, I feel this would be a fair trade.
What do you think?
>Not everyone is in an active raiding guild, so excuse me if your hugbox doesn’t include people who don’t share your 1337 interests.
>You already had raids. There was no reason whatsoever to demand that fractal dailies be made this difficult. Its just another spiting of casual players – who make up a majority of the playerbase and thus are the majority of anet’s customers.
>“They should work harder for their rewards”. Yes, because hard work is totally what most people who earned money doing hard work want to spend that money to do. You’re quite the economist. I stand corrected, sir.
Done it with pugs yesterday, with many down that we had to rez while kitting the elite/boss. We still got the challenge, without even trying hard.
No, it’s far from impossible, it’s also not nearly as hard as raids.
But of course, people kinda have to stop thinking “ZERK ZERK ZERK” as the meta for every situation. This fight is about surviving more than it’s about dealing huge damage, you need support and proper healing for this fight OR you need to be especially good at dodging and avoiding hits. I’m actually glad there is one or two fights in this game that are not just about stacking on a boss and burning.
(EDIT: No Mai Trin doesnt have that much HP, sure that’s still a lot more than 25, but not nearly as much as the -very- annoying Snowblind boss at high level)
And again:
This is level 100, if you don’t want challenge, you don’t have to do that high of a level, casual players HAVE their own fractals, and you are the one basically implying that everyone should be casual. Some people want easy stuff, some people want harder (still not hard) stuff, fractals provide both.
And yes, the whole point of legendaries, and special skins, is to be worth something, if everyone can access them just by clicking a button, they will have no value. All MMOs work that way.
I’m not even sure what you’re complaining about, it’s not okay because there’s one chest out of 14 that you can’t have casually? Is this really what you are saying?
Great news !
I know I’m pushing, but is there any way it could stay permanent?
Also, is it possible to get SAB themed hall musics?
Anet must come with modes with huge replayability… the living story is a lot of work but people will play it once, maybe two times, the vets will play it as many times as they have characters, but that’s it. That’s always going to be the problem with vets. They’re gonna be busy for the time it takes to play the story, and then they’ll be bored again.
Work on Fractals, randomized content, work on stuff that will make people want to do it again and again and where their experience will never be the same.
Raids are one of those good things, but it is limited to a small niche. I consider SAB to be one of them too.
It would be interesting to know how much time is spent on storytelling (and its scripting) versus actual “content” (new maps, mobs, modes, events).
It’s not because you make story content with a LOT of scripting that the game’s value is gonna get higher. Look at games like Demon Souls, it didn’t need much storytelling to be considered great.
You can’t expect people to play the same boss everyday, same fractals, same story and be satisfied for months without anything new.
I spent I don’t know how many hundred of dollars on the gemstore, and I’ll be glad to do it again the day I’ll be as satisfied with GW2 as I was with GW1.

Hello,
I am personaly not too disapointed about the decision to delay the new legendary weapons. I mean sure, yes, they were promised with HoT, but if they are just delayed (not cancelled) for more content and sooner, why not?
What I don’t understand is this:
If a little team of people can make something as cool as raid wings in a couple months, why not having another little team for more regular content/game modes while waiting for living story?
I mean, why not thinking of new game modes with high replayability instead of relying ONLY on Fractals and Living Story? Living Story, while great, is basically a succession of quests that will always be limited in its replayability, fractals started with a great idea, but take -way too long- to update and offer new content.
- How about some randomized content?
Example: Put 2+ random boss from the game in an empty room, a team of 5 players, a timer, and fight. This could lead to very fun situations, would have replayability (aka, never the same mechanics to deal with 2 different boss) and shouldnt be too hard to develop. (Thinking Lupicus with like, Mossman fighting together haha, could be mean and fun
)
- How about more “endless wave of enemies” kind of modes? one team of 5 players (or 10), one zone to defend, and see how long you can last.
- Why not bringing back the HM of Guild Wars 1 with dungeons? Players want their loot back? Give it back with HM!
I don’t think any of that would take years to dev, this is basically reusing what you already have to make new modes, new ways of fighting, new challenges. Use it!
I am sure many of us have good ideas (not saying mine necessarily are, but Im not everyone). So… in short, why not asking directly the community? While not using the community as part of the creation process?
You should use the community to your advantage.

Your biggest fault is being too generous and making all these guys think they deserve more free stuff than you’ve already given us.
Thank you.
While I agree that a thank you is great sometimes, those free updates were “sold” during the pre-order of the game, it was a promise. It’s not being too generous, it is simply respecting what they said during pre-orders.
There’s an easy way to fix this… 2 different legendary armor sets, one that can be obtained through skill (raids), the other through time (farming + gold)
Problem solved.
At least that’s what I would do, because yes, getting in a static raid team is not easy and is extremely restrictive (a lot of players will be left out) and Anet never got us used to that (even with GW1).
A legendary is like the ultimate goal for a lot of players, take that from them and I dont know what will be there left to do.

Oh scream of joy! My raid beat the vale guardian a few days ago, after a few days barely sleeping, this was an intense fight. This was actually the first time I felt excited by new content, it pretty much brought me back to my first days with Urgoz/DoA on GW1, loved it!
However,
I havent really tried the 2nd boss yet. But I can see a big issue already…
Finding a group is stressful.
Stressful, because the boss is made so that you need at least that much dps to beat it. Yes, it requires skill, and I mean, IT’S GREAT, for the first time in this game you actually need to master your class, but skill itself IS NOT ENOUGH. The timer IS a big problem in this fight.
I loved the mechanics of the boss, I love how unforgiveful it is, I do NOT like the timer because it forces everyone to either have the required gears/stats or simply be left out.
As suggested by previous threads, I would much prefer 2 modes, an easier version (same boss, without a timer), and a harder mode (or same mode, but beating it under the timer gives breaks the limit of tokens you get per week and gives you a bit more).
I mean, surely there is a way to work around the frustration to make it so that we can both keep the challenge as it is, and offer an alternative way for everyone to still be able to fight this boss, even if they’re gonna need more time.
The way I see it right now, people are gonna fight the boss, defeat it, and never go back on it again, its a shame, specially with how cool the mechanics are.
I have to agree here.
3 years after, still no luck with RNG, we’ve been told there would be a way to get rid of RNG for precursors, this is great!
But then why doing that? It is purely based on RNG, There is no fun coming back to the same event every 3 hours and just sit there and hope it works this time.
Please fix it…
Good luck to find such people at high level fractal.
When all you do is rushing dungeon and world bosses (spam key 1 for all world bosses but 1 now) then I honestly don’t see the fun anymore. If loot is all that matter then what was making guild wars in the past so special is dead.
Don’t stack … problem solved
As I said, not everyone has the chance to have 4 friends always ready to play with you, sometimes you have to get pugs. And it happens very often that said pugs only think of rushing and so stacking and all., and get aggressive/insulting if you don’t follow what they want.
Wanting to counter a lazy way to win isn’t absurd at all, GW1 did that a lot to farming areas, whenever it was too easy to farm → nerf.
Using AoE was OP in GW1 cause mobs wouldn’t move away → AI upgraded.
What’s the difference here? The game has been changed already because some part of the gameplay was broken. How is it selfish to ask for another fix of a broken gameplay?
Not everyone likes it lazy and brainless, some people actually likes some kind of challenge (like the aetherblade dungeon provided). Sorry guys and I’m not gonna abandon the PvE just because someone tells me to look away for PvE. I played GW1 mostly for the PvE. the PvE of GW2 is decent but not perfect so it’s perfectly normal that some people want to discuss about it.
There was some kind of stacking in GW1 but it was structured. Like the tank would aggro, protected by the link monks and if someone was failing then the whole group could wipe (in elite area like DoA anyway)
in GW2 it’s really brainless stacking, it doesn’t matter what is your class or your role in the group, you stack and it works.
In most dungeons and fractals (and some world bosses), for most situations, the answer to everything is “STACK”. I feel like this is ruining the fun of actually trying to find new strategies.
I know that I could choose to just “not do it” but whenever I get pugs in my group there’s almost always one who ABSOLUTELY want everyone to stack, serious business is serious and must be fast too… What is the point of giving us lots of bosses with different skills and strategies if you can finish most of them by just brainlessly stacking?
I know there are counter examples, the aetherblade dungeon is actually great because it’s not brainless but this is still most of the dungeons.
What do you think?
I am a big fan of GW1 and a decent fan of GW2. I think I contributed enough with gems as to be allowed an honest opinion about the lack of content.
This game is really starting to have a lack of content. When a whole month of updates is made of nothing but easy money grabbing with gemstore, no plan for the future, just to give us an update that was already there the year before, something is not going right.
The expansions of GW1 were great, they were magic, they all added something new to the game, a new atmosphere and all. Now all I see is quick temporary content that offers nothing more but skins, always skins, I’m still redoing the same 8 dungeons again and again, I got tired of the level 49/50 fractals and the gambling there.
I really wonder why Anet is so fond of its living story system. Most of the feedback are the same: temporary content is BAD. and it has another big drawback. Everytime a new temporary content appears people rushes it (cause it’s temporary) because it’s only a little thing to do. It results in stupid group zergs like during the battle of the marrionet or the final battle of scarlet, there’s next to no fun fighting bosses with 50 people, hearing “STACK STACK STACK” every single time no matter what the boss is.
A large expansion would spread the community a bit into different areas, because everyone would discover a completely new game at their own speed, this would actually look more right even for the story.
Please stop world events and go back to what was making guild wars so good. Challenging dungeons and story missions, real “guild wars” with halls for pvps and ELITE AREA like UW, Fow or Urgoz, why is Underworld missing after 2 years?!
I’ve heard the same complain a few months ago “the game is too recent”, No it isn’t, this excuse will not always work, it’s already getting close to 2 years and it’s more than time to consider an expansion, people WILL pay for it.
Hey,
Let’s say I got fused daggers via gambling (gold tickets),
Can I ask the refund of 7 tickets?
It’d be fair since I also got them with gems.
Thanks!
Hello,
Since about a week I experience a very weird lag.
It starts about 3pm server time and last for about an hour. During that hour the game is unplayable, the lag is so high that I can’t even use a skill.
The forums are also extremely slow.
I never had this problem before, my connection hasn’t changed and I can still access any game and internet without a single lag meanwhile.
I live in europe and play in a NA server.
What’s even more suspicious is that when I lag and use skills, my friends can see the skills I use (which are still lagging for me).
Did anyone else experience this lately?
Hello,
I fully agree with this, we -need- a solution for this problem. I have a few friends who bought the game and went to a European server and I can’t play with them. And paying to move to Europe isn’t a solution, as I would have to pay again to go back to NA servers.
I don’t care if I can play WvW with them, I just want to enjoy doing dungeons and leveling with them.
I’ve been thinking of many options that wouldn’t be too hard to implement:
- Having an “alt” home server in europe where you can transfert to -for free- but limited in time (like 1 time a week)
- Having international instances. It wouldn’t work for leveling but at least we could do dungeons and fractals…
- Having the character being bound to a home server instead of the account
Right now the community is splitted in two and it’s a shame. We can be in the same guild but we’ll never get to play all together, this needs to change.
If we can send items and stuff to people in europe it means we should be able to share more datas…
I have a question though… Is it still possible to loot theses tickets in the blc? Or is it too late now? We got no reply so far.
“how the game runs and how the performance works is completely dependent on how close to the data center you are that you’re operating in.”
I’m a european playing in NA servers and I’ve never experienced any lag problems.
Seriously is it all a matter of money? Just keep your promises and let us play with our friends, we’re in 2013!
I’ve bought tons of gems since the beginning of the game but I may just as well stop buying anything till this problem is fixed.
At least you could give us an official answer here!!!
Sir Cusfreak:
I can’t agree with your example. When friends want to go to a bar, they may have to pay, yes, but then they don’t have to wait 1 week before going back home.
This is the big problem. Nobody will pay gems for playing with their friends casually because they kept the 1 week cooldown, so if we move to the other region, we won’t be able to play with our regular players before 1 week…
It simply doesn’t make sense, it seems everything possible is made to split up the community in 2…
Could we get an official answer about the main complain here?
Are you looking for a solution for this?
I don’t understand those who defend Anet on this.
It’s a feature that has been promised even before the launch of the game. It was obvious people would wait for cross-continent play. OBVIOUS. They may not choose their technical difficulties but in that case why they had not been clear with that since the very beginning?
We paid for a game with features included and promised. It’s not our concern if it will cost them money to make this possible.
As stated before they are solutions and some of them doesn’t cost that much. In addition like some of us said we are ready to pay another licence that would give us a homeserver in both of the continents (and fix the really annoying region locked problem). It wouldn’t cost them a cent network wise to make us chose which character do we want to put in which server. Really, it would be the best solution for all.
And again, dungeons and fractals are instances, why do we have the same limitation for them?
Whining and complains are totally understandable in that case where things we had (possibility to move from EU to NA for free and vice versa) are just going to be removed.
(edited by Deihnyx.6318)
Since dungeons and fractals are indeed instanciated… It shouldn’t be too hard to allow cross-continent playing for them?
We would loose the epic moments of watching vistas with europeans, but at least we would still have the most important.
And for dungeon instances, please Anet don’t tell me you have any technical issues…
I feel about the same thing as many players.
I won’t be able to play anymore with friends from Europe and America at the same time
- Guesting won’t work as promised
- Server transfert will now cost money
So, until now I was still able to play with them, now I will have to pay because of this new feature? Playing dungeons was already possible with other people from the same region, this feature is totally useless if we can’t play with europeans!!!
Please, let me pay the game again if you so much want money but SIMPLY let me play with my friends! I coudl’nt care less for WvW, I just want to PvE with them!!!!!
Hello,
I have a little concern about homeserver moving.
Instead of having to wait 7 days… it would be great to have the choice:
- Moving for free every 7 days
- Pay 200 gems (just an idea) for immediate moving
When the new update has been released, adding the new dungeon, it was impossible to play with friends from other servers because guesting in the fractals doesn’t work (even in overflows I wasn’t able to join their team).
It’s sad because this dungeon is absolutely addictive and I have currently no solution to play with them, have to wait.
There could also be other solutions:
- Server per character (even if you have to pay… I just want to play with friends without having to care about servers :/)
- 2 Homeservers (one in American region, one in Europe region, since they don’t do WvWvW together, there should be no problem)
Thanks for reading
+1 for duelling… even group dueling would be really, really fun…
Even if it’s just allowed in some areas or better… in guild’s halls !! (can you imagine a free for all with all your guildies? would be EXTREMELY fun!)
Hello,
First let me thank you for this fantastic game. As a Guild Wars 1 fan I enjoy it a lot !
I have a few suggestions that would mainly increase the RolePlaying experience of this game. (because yes, it’s an MMORPG !):
- A RP channel: A separated channel for people who want to play their character with a bit of roleplay.
- Mobs in the guild’s hall: I know this is a bit insane and quite unusual for a MMORPG… But it would be great to add a guild amelioration that allow people with the required rights to… add ennemies directly in the guild’s hall (like if they were GMs). Benefits are numerous:
- New set of droppable items that anyone in the guild can use to add new kind of ennemies to use (with rare etc)
- A training system that – of course – shouldn’t give xp or gold, it’s just for fun – or RP
- A new feature that never existed in any game
An alternative would be to add modes like an invasion mode directly in the guild’s hall
Now a few ideas to help improving the game even more:
- Channel for guilds we are not representing: Maybe this is too much asking… But I found the multiple guild system was GREAT, because it allows me to play with americans and europeans friends, I’d just like to be able to talk with all of them at the same time !
- HomeServer X2: Okay… The main reason to limit server switching is because of the WwWwW… Now american servers never play against europeans servers, right? So why not allowing us like… 2 homeservers? one in america and one in europe? Even if it’s something I’d have to pay for, I’d love to be able to play with europeans and americans without having to switch all the time.
