you’re talking about world bosses…I dont remember too much strategy for world bosses in WoW when they first came out..the dragon was just..run around, hit it with all you have..hope someone doesnt ninja loot the corpse for the loot….thats it. So stop pretending it was something fantastic.
Its just an article about ideas…thus Iceberg as in the tip of the Iceberg and you guys are already complaining…give it time.
I dont want a gear treadmill which is what you are proposing, what other viable endgame options do you have?
I thought the quests were pretty well done, its just that honestly there were so many ways to get levels that you leveled without even knowing it..crafting ,gathering, reviving, and DE’s everywhere lead to experience points that used to be gathered grinding and instead now the grind is for cosmetics and money.
Only a few options for true endgame in a game like this..gear treadmill, a pvp ladder or new content.
When did they say that? All I saw was a dev saying he would look at it live, thats it, nothing since then. I think the graphical issue that you guys werent seeing is the switching to other skills, if all you did was auto attack then yeah, no issue, if you tried to use concussive shot, the poison volley or cripple then it took an extra second because of the fast animation of the short bow.
Its been out a month…it takes time to work out bugs caused by massive populations, you can’t recreate a live environment, only simulate it the best you can. When things are used millions of times, parameters change, so we will see how they fix things. They just got their teams in place last week, not even sure they are all working or just getting to know one another at the moment. Development and changes take time, Id just like more feedback.
Honestly, healing needs a boost in the game to be more viable, the system is fine though. What we need are more passive healing abilities that are not tied to traits, let traits amplify them, don’t let them be the source of the healing imo. It seems they wanted so badly to get away from buff bots that they tried to give support to all classes, its a good idea and needs to be truly invested in. If this is where they want to go, then go all in..give us all passive abilities that are not trait bound.
Everyone talked about how awesome the class was in BWE and it got nerfed pre live release because of it..GS damage was brought down, spirits were reduced in HP, Longbow damage brought down and a bit more..
I play a SB ranger with GS as well, I can kill trash in Orr just fine, Im not a glass cannon though. Ive used sword, axe and torch, and Ive Pvped with them all and done as well as my skill level with them all..Im not an elite PvPer, Im above average, nowhere near the best. I do think Rangers need help, I dont think SB is the only viable weapon, I think its the only thing we had that kept up with Thief Sword/pistol..which btw got nerfed too..and Mesmer Phantasms….which btw got nerfed..or burning/symbol GS Guardian..which btw got nerfed..oh wow look…LOTS OF classes got nerfed, not just us.
I think a class advocate would be a good idea, a community chosen representative or two that works with the developers and relays information to the class community. It has worked well in other games I have played, I see no reason such a concept would not work here.
I also think a public test server would be fantastic, a place where the new changes being made to the game could be assessed by the public before it goes live to the public. There will still be complaints and the final decision is still Anet’s, however I think some implements like these would go along way with making people feel better about future changes.
They are nerfing weapon lines, not entire classes, its obvious Anet does not want a “maximum dps” weapon line..they want lines of weapons and builds for the most part to be in line with one another. SPVP is a big portion of this Im sure. I think once weapon lines are in check, other changes will follow.
I think the error is that we were doing that kind of damage in the first place, Warriors will get theirs..the only thing keeping them from the nerf bat imo is that they are indeed using other weapons and builds..its easy to see from the gripes on here that most Rangers were using short bow and it was not the only viable weapon, its just the only one that did what damage you think is right, well guess what..I think its loud and clear that isnt the damage they want the class doing and they want all weapon choices to be viable.
Im down for this, one of the few ideas people have I can get behind. I agree that an explanation would further customer to company relations as well as give some metric albeit a relative one by which we can assess ourselves.
I dont think the guardian was nerfed, I think they are tinkering with things to make classes use more utility and less pure DPS, most class combinations Ive seen are pure DPS..and they want to get away from that sort of philosophy. So if 90% of your class is on the exact same path you are and they think its the only viable option for their class..expect that path to be nerfed.
well it would be nice to get an explanation, however, truth is we are not owed anything.
The thing is, Anet and its testers have been playing the game for quite some time..much longer than any of us..in fact some of the replies in the class forums are things like “the general population doesnt know that ability ‘a’ is awesome, just wait till they figure it out, we cant balance anything until then” like a Dev in the Necromancer forums said about Death Shroud. It would not surprise me to learn that their decisions are based more on what their own testers see and do than the public’s skewed and lets face it..usually biased understanding of their class
I see more guardians than warriors honestly..most bots are warriors or rangers though
I think its obvious what they change. If the players of a certain class think that the only viable option is “A” then “A” will get nerfed or changed, its obvious that they think the power level is not important to them right now, the overall balance is. Too many thieves doing sword/pistol..and it got nerfed, too many SB rangers and nerfed, mesmers becoming trendy and nerfed….they want any build and any option to be viable and only utility and skill to be different. I dont think buffs will come until options are relatively equal.
Short bow animation fired two arrows per second, QZ doubles the rate of fire thus 4 per second, it lasts 4 seconds…16 arrows sounds right. Using the other abilities used to stop animation, I think that is what they were trying to get rid of, to promote players to use other abilities rather than rely so heavily on auto shot and QZ
I do agree though that from Beta we have been nerfed pretty badly..spirits are too low in HP and the trait to move them is too high..needs to be a 10 at most imo, and greatsword needs a bit more dmg, I dont think its useless..but a bit more would be good.
If you want GW1 then go find it, this isnt Gw1.5 its GW2..its a different game, it has some similar elements and lore, but it stands on its own. We’ll see what they turn it into.
I played GW 1 when it first came out, it was not the game it turned out to be many years later, it took time to develop. The best thing it had was the arena where people could PvP to their heart’s content
yeah GW1 took a while to get where you guys are quoting it from, even with the dual system I still remember their basically being about 3 builds for Pvp that anyone cared about..what Gw2 has done is made it so ANY class or build can compete not just the elite ones etc. You guys may not like having an even playing field, you want more skills, you want to be elite because you know how to set up your macros, ui and understand what particular synergies give you the best healing, DPS or aggro..and here it doesnt matter. They obviously have moved away from GW1 thinking and are trying something new, give them time to see what it might become before pining for the old ways.
all they need is the ability to change to more than just one weapon set…if we had 3-4 weapon sets, things would amp up quite a bit
besides that, people want a reason to fight..even if its fake or you might as well just be dueling. I still go back to Shadowbane..best ffa pvp game ever conceived, unfortunately poor execution until it was too late..
no it would denigrate into nothing but a gank fest..things like waypoint camping, killing lowbies, etc..all it would take is one bad element to ruin it for everyone else.
yeah this will never happen. Games that do this die horrible deaths unless they have zones that others players can bypass. people will go..even though its FFA pvp and expect that you will leave them alone unless they attack you because other games are like that.
