Ouch… this thread just killed a part of my heart. o.o GL with the splitting~ it might end up almost as expensive as making the armor though. 22g per splitter another for 5-6 fine trannies? ;o 20 dollars might cover it as well.

Any way to enjoy Ele w/o attunement swapping?

As title says, is there a viable way to enjoy this class in PvP or PvE without having to rely on swapping attunements and doing 39823 combos a second and just sticking with 1-2 Elements? Or even a build that uses Conjured weapons a lot instead?

Even if I could master the attunement thing to it’s fullest it’s just not entertaining to me~
I enjoyed GW1 Ele where people generally just used and built around their favorite Element and ran around calling themselves a Fire Ele/Mage or Water Ele/Mage and so on and not having to rely on all 4 all the time.

Ele was my 3rd favorite in GW1 and I liked pvping a lot as full Water (Which seems impossible as it does no damage in GW2 ;/ ) or Air but I can’t seem to make a build that’s more fun than overly complicated and just too much unnecessary effort for me to want to do all the time. .-.

Already have 80 Warrior, and yeah it’s easymode OP and all.
I have one of every class (Thief being main) and I’m pretty much just left with, Ele that I haven’t played too much of and Engi and Mesmer that I’ve worked on but aren’t 80 yet (use them more spvp than anything).
I want to like my Ele character as I do all of my alts so far. It’s the only class that just feels bleh to me. Engi can swap and use a lot of skills too but it doesn’t feel like overkill and gets faster results and low CDs.
Going to try out some of the things mentioned though. Thanks for suggestions.

Capture the point PvP is boring, but we get nothing more due to them wanting to create an esport and only focus on one thing.

It’s all we have and just gets old after a while.. even Random Arena from GW1 would be more interesting to add to GW2.

It’s not enough like Fort Aspenwood: I feel like there’s no real goal to work towards as a group other than run around frantically to stand on circles.

Tedious maps like Skyhammer.

Lots of boring builds that revolve around bunkering points, because capture the point is boring and promotes boring builds,

No reason to play any class that isn’t Warrior.

No cash reward like how I farmed Z Keys in GW1 to sell. They added gold though recently but I still get so bored by it to bother. Really need some more game modes. Plenty of other Esports have different game modes.

and their current/recent addition of ‘guild halls’ is awful; ran entirely on absolutely massive amounts of gold that majority of people can’t obtain.

That’s totally true, but they already lowering the prices and they will keep doing it until they find the right balance…
But honestly, since it’s Gold Wars 2 we’re talking about, do you really think that some kind of housing system here will be any different than FF XIV’s?

Only if they wanted to add more things from GW1 that end up nothing like GW1; like the birthday gifts were for example. :x It’s fine if it costs money but not something insane like a Precursors’ price. I’d assume it’d be related to merits~ hopefully w/o a giganticly huge time-gate.

I see a lot of complaining in-game so what’s the point of this thread? XD

Although: Yes, GW2 is the best, despite all it’s flaws, but we’re supposed to find those flaws and bring them into attention so that the game is improved. Would be nice to get all my friends to actually want to play again instead of telling me there’s nothing to do anymore or that their frustrated with all the bugs, temp content instead of perm content and the creeping grindyness.

The logical problem with your thought process is that you assume the complaints are correct and that listening to them will make the game better. Players aren’t developers and often what they want and ask for would be worse.

The problem is people don’t know the difference between their opinion and objective fact.

The difference is the people complaining don’t have nearly the stake in the game as the company who financed it or the developers themselves.

So maybe they make the changes and your friends come back and they lose an half a million people in the process.

Just because you and your friends like something a certain way, doesn’t make that way better. And it doesn’t mean there aren’t tons of people who would hate that game and not want to play it.

Anet made a game. If you don’t like it, by all means, don’t play it.

But too many suggestions are out there that either won’t make the game better at all, or simply aren’t compatible with the game as it stands now.

Yadda yadda, you act like you can stop criticism and whatever but it’s part of a game’s development and it’s not going to go away. Obviously they aren’t going to address every complaint, suggestion and so on but there are many that should and need to be still. It’s their job to decide which and what to do with them.

So how long after Rift launched was it before Trion added player housing? It’ll get here when it gets here.

Here’s one thing i don’t get it… Rift added housing with the Storm Legion expansion, 1 year and 8 months after release, give or take.
So what? How long after Ultima Online launched was it before Origin added player housing? Day 1
How long it was for Final Fantasy XIV? 3 or 4 months.
How long it was for Star Wars Galaxies? Day 1.
How long it will be for Wildstar and EQ Next? Day 1 for both.

So what? Why the need to compare with a game released 4 years ago? Having so many examples, a modern game shouldn’t have more and better features than the older ones? Or it’s just easier to say “they hadn’t, so why should we?”

Well FFXIV has Inns with a bed you can sleep in which is nice but they technically didn’t add the full housing system yet and going pretty slow with it, and their current/recent addition of ‘guild halls’ is awful; ran entirely on absolutely massive amounts of gold that majority of people can’t obtain. o.O It’s still sad that GW1 had them and GW2 wasn’t released with them, as it was one of the things I was looking forward to seeing evolve the most. GW2 has been out quite some time though, can only hope it’s added soon.

I killed Teq for the Achievements only. So far I haven’t had to endure 71 Tequatl kills and have crafted 3 Ascended weapons on my low gold income because I’m generally too lazy to farm. Seems like a better deal to me. It’d be nice to get a box drop to get my bow though because I don’t feel like lvling Huntsmen atm for 1 weapon. .-.

Yes, crafting them is the solution if you need a random Ascended weapon…but I guess the OP, like me, was actually after the special Sunless skin that can’t be crafted nor obtained elseway.

Aren’t they the same thing, just Green? I guess Teq has a small particle effect but doesn’t seem worth the stress.

I don’t like the skins personally so that wasn’t a problem for me~ except for the pretty Crystal Ball Scepter my Guardian uses. That was a random wvw drop tho.

I was extremely disappointed with the skins because Teq is actually my favorite of the Dragons and I was hoping for gruesome undead resident evil-like weapons. XD

The problem is you’re killing him everyday and expecting a drop.

Kill him randomly once a week or month/few months as apathetically as possible and you might get a drop. Or you can quit for a few months and let your hidden account MF build up and kill him.

Won’t be big unless we get dyeable weapons imo. Should have had it right from day 1, like GW1.

Dyeable weapons and back pieces, and ability to hide chest piece and shoes. :o

Hide all my armor and dye my boxers as a skin tone.

Ha ha that would be cool. I hate pretty much all the tops for the medium class because about 95% of them are coats >_< sometimes I just go around shirtless on my Engineer because I refuse to wear a coat. Wish we could hide them :-(

Exactly the reason why I want the ability to hide chest pieces too.

I don’t mind any class, but Rangers unfortunately get permanently stuck with pets, and these pets often mess up things in dungeons because you can’t stow them in combat. They need to learn how and when to tell them to return to them.

Deadly Arts PVE and even PVP

I actually like the Poison causing weakness a lot (in wvw you can puke weakness all over the place instantly with bow in zergs), and Mug is great of course. Sundering Strikes is awesome as you can stack a large amount of vuln, especially with pistol whip. I don’t like having no Support skills to carry pugs so don’t really use it further than 10 if at all in PvE. Kinda the same thing for PvP, you end up with weak healing or low crit dmg. If anything though it’s great @ 25 points at most, so it really needs a better Grandmaster.

One new offhand alone with nothing stealth related and more dodge, counter or cond removal-like skills would give us a vast amount of new choices for stealthless builds.

There’s really no need to explain it further, but the whole Ascended thing did murder a nice chunk of my interest. The OP is pretty much correct. It feels like a bad idea with the sole purpose to stall time for development. They shoulda just did another WvW season instead to stall time. :o

No Shadow Refuge or Shadowstep

Refuge is often a giant bullseye that just gets you knocked out of it and revealed. Dunno why it has to remove stealth when you step out of it. Feels like a trap most of the time unless you’re using it for a preemptive attack.

I still use Shadowstep but I like using Infiltrators’s and Agility Signet/Roi and Blinding Powder. Used to use Shadow Trap before they nerfed it. Every time I try to make a build more suited for my playstyle I’d get beaten in the face with no cond removal options since we’re so cursed by Shadow Arts and Cloak and Dagger. Wish there was a way to trait it onto other utilities.

Then I feel like we have 2 entire trait categories that are relatively useless. (traps and venoms) It’s like we have half the utility other classes have.

Whatver you’re asking for wont work unless they completely redesign the class to not have 8823982 strongly required traits, combos and attacks to be entirely dependent on stealth. At that point I’d rather they just changed the Class to Assassin and let me be a tanky dps..

No, it should be Stealthed players can see Stealthed players. That way Thieves become instant counters to Thieves in any 1v1 situation.

I love this idea, I’m not sure of all the rest of your suggestion though.

Thieves are already a counter to themselves. Thief players understand stealth mechanics best and know how to deal with other Thieves best.

This is just another QQ thread filled with empty ideas.

Removing Speed 25%

I’d welcome a 25% movement trait, as long as the signet stays untouched. It’s not like you’d be forced to take it any more than the signet or traveler runes, and we’re supposed to be the mobile class anyways. More ways of achieving the same thing is always a good thing imo (provided they don’t nerf us in return :P )

It’s be a great replacement for Hard to Catch. Even though anything it’s replaced with would be better… Except Last Refuge. :x Wonder how many comments like this I’ll have to make. :<

Revert Assassin's Reward to Master tier

The changes to Assassin’s reward are meaningless. and moving it to grandmaster made it even worse. Well, we beta tested the change and it just didn’t work out for us. Time to go back to the drawing board and change it again.

and as others’ have said~ I would really love to have a condition removal trait for non-stealth builds. Or love in general for non stealth builds. On that note, I’m curious if Anet actually believes that we’re even allowed to not use stealth. Is it a requirement for every Thief build?

And I think assassin retreat works on white mobs, not able to test it atm tho

It does not. Ambient creatures don’t give you the Swiftness.

They put you in combat though if you Cloak and Dagger them, making you move slower. Which is interesting. When you kill them normally you’re not put into combat. Only if you kill them with a skill that puts you into stealth.

Only if you have Blind of Stealth. Blinding puts you in combat.

It still does it without the Blind.

Thief Traps. What do you think of them?

Traps don’t really work out for Thief. They should change them to Concealed Weapons or something. Instead of Needle Trap lets fire them at enemies instead~ a range cone aoe needle shot. Ambush Trap would do better as a ground target Shadow Clone that attacks people once summoned. Shadow Trap should just be what it’s always used for anyways. A user only portal between 2 points.

The changes to Assassin’s reward are meaningless. and moving it to grandmaster made it even worse. Well, we beta tested the change and it just didn’t work out for us. Time to go back to the drawing board and change it again.

and as others’ have said~ I would really love to have a condition removal trait for non-stealth builds. Or love in general for non stealth builds. On that note, I’m curious if Anet actually believes that we’re even allowed to not use stealth. Is it a requirement for every Thief build?

It does not. Ambient creatures don’t give you the Swiftness.

They put you in combat though if you Cloak and Dagger them, making you move slower. Which is interesting. When you kill them normally you’re not put into combat. Only if you kill them with a skill that puts you into stealth.

Don’t get me wrong I love S/D and i would really want to see it works… but I could beat most of those players with ANY profession/build. Warrior that uses only rifle? C’mon.

I don’t find 30points in trickery to work that well for s/d, you don’t need condition damage, you get boost to your steal which is nice but you could get much more puting those points somewhere else, maybe not all, some for sure.

s/d will always look nice in use, all that mobility etc, but most of those guys you fought against did nothing.

Sleight of Hands is one of my favorite traits, hate how far you need to go to grab it.
Trickery gives good offensive support giving everyone fury, power, swift, boon stealing and transfering, vigor~ an instant daze and +15% dmg when ini is full; which is good with sword since it’s auto attack hits so hard and you don’t really need to spam ini to kill.

It gives 3-5 more ini overall which is even more useful after patch. Wish it had a better Master trait for defense/cond removal, like Steal transfering conditions for example. And its nice actually putting more use into our only class F skill.

Trickery is awesome. It just costs so many points and Anet seems like they want everyone to spec into critical strikes and shadow arts too badly.

Thay also play Autoattack Pistol Pistol thief with no traits and no swap.

Sad thing is this is true. XD Watching that was painful.

We have a very valuable role in PVE though. We exist to stealth revive downed Warriors when they forget to look at their screen for too long when they’re beating on everything.

Just play a Warrior for Spvp. You won’t have to overthink things much then.

As for counters, that would take a lot to explain since classes can just change their builds to counter certain things.

Things similar to other classes’ On-Block traits? Would be nice.
Really would like some friendly traits towards builds that don’t use stealth. Most of the time I feel punished for not using it. This could actually be a nice way to fix that. :o Trading off ini normally used for Cloak and Dagger to heal and lose conditions to something that did it on evade instead would be fun. :P

Except that the issue was having to grind to access lvl 50 fractals which completely destroys your argument as it is exactly like having to grind to enter top level raids.

Yes, you can access Lvl1 Fractal from the get go but as RedShipRaider explains, you can’t just keep going like that and expect to reach the top.

If you want to reach the top of the mountain, you have to climb. You can’t stand at the bottom and demand someone installs an elevator.

The system was specifically created for players who enjoy this process. If you do not, then it was not made for you.

Installing an elevator or lift to top of a mountain isn’t impossible and happens often. :P
Maybe they can also add a cabin and hot springs at the top and we can bring some skiis and snowboards with us.

Best way is to save money while forgetting about ever getting it.
Just play the game normally.

There’s no reason to try to get one because you’ll just make yourself frustrated with bad RNG. Let all your legendary mats and money rot in the bank till you either;
1. Randomly get awarded by Dwayna with a random precursor drop when you weren’t even looking for it, or;
2. You end up having enough money to buy it.

Yeah I leveled Weaponsmithing and made a sword and dagger. Then leveled Leatherworking and got the life force in me totally drained by 3 Armor pieces to the point where I don’t feel like making the rest, lol. And now if I want a bow and pistol I need to level Huntsmen to 500. >.<

On top of how insane it is to make everything you need the fact that I will never see one of them drop from something is also pretty sadpandaish. There isn’t even a steady way to even look for one, or a specific one that you want. It’s all super random like Precursors.

It’s a very unfun~ process. Doesn’t really matter what you guys’ opinion on mine is; this is just how I feel at the moment. It’s not fun. It’s just tedious.

I wish Death Blossom was more like the GW1 Death Blossom. A high damage AOE attack. o.O My Assassin used it all the time~ entirely unrelated to conditions back then.

They should just drop the bleed from it all together and up the damage. I never see anyone use D/D condition builds anymore anyways, and even if they do it’s still a stupid setup since it’s generally the only weapon skill used out of 5.

You got my respect for continuing to run S/D in WvW after Dec.10

I can’t bring myself to give it up. Been having trouble making a new build I like to kill boredom though, mainly due to bad cond removal, our healing skills being awful w/o SA and our generally awful master traits.

I actually tried something similar because it’s just impossible to make anything new if you focus on critical strikes~ (the trait line we’re shoehorned into, as with SA too.)

It’s fun but Withdraw and our other heals feel really weak like this. Pain response also annoys me. Wish they’d just change our traits that activate based on HP to something more reliable/helpful.
