How do you determine which guild gets the favor on a mission? I’m not pshawing the idea of removing rep, but missions (and WvW claims and guild PvP teams right?) do require you to rep in order to assign where the rewards go.
I don’t know if this happened before but occasionally when making one amalgamated the old 3-stack way it would proc 5 amalgamateds.
I got distracted by a guildie and goofed and used my orbs up on 3-stacks instead of 25’s >< /so much face palming But then I promoted some crystals (using dust, a whole lot of forging got me -one- orb) and was able to do 2 iterations of the 25’s. Ended up with 72/250
If you are JC 400, yes, you can make anything JC’s can make so long as you have the recipe. Recipes can be learned automatically just for being the right skill level, bought for karma from the crafting vendors, bought for map currency in some newer maps like DT/SW/HoT, discovered … that’s off the top of my head, could be more ways.
Make sure to learn recipes on the character that has the relevant crafting skill. The knowledge is not account bound.
Yes, and cats and dogs both have ears, tails, and fur, so they should be completely interchangeable and able to procreate together?
The Kaiser weapons were a set available in the game for a certain time period, purchased with currency earned (or bought by the exploit) during that time frame. Players could legitimately collect the tokens themselves and buy the skins. The Black Lion skins are sets that are released at intervals, with older sets being retired so that no matter how many tickets you accumulate by means fair or foul, you cannot purchase them unless you have enough gold and find them on the TP.
/scratches head
In what way is porting someone into a nearly finished Tribulation map so they can get tokens towards SAB weapons at all related to which BL weapon sets are currently available for sale?
That must have been a while ago. Permanent hair kits have been in the thousands for a long time. I think the OP was talking about how chests might have been patched this week.
Thanks much! When I can next get in game I’ll see how many I can make with mats I already have, then worry about accumulating the rest. After holding off so long due to hopes that things would get easier with the patch, I have to change my brain away from the avoidance mechanisms
How is this not merged into the Mounts thread yet? It is exactly the same discussion that’s been held every single time this topic comes up.
Whereas in 10 chests I got a ticket, some scraps (sadly 1 shy of filling out to another ticket), a Balthazar’s Rifle (that I should have sold to high bidder right away, hindsight lets me know — I listed it so I’d get over 150 gold from it but today it was down to 30 gold sale listings, alas, so I sold to high bidder before it went down further), some unidentified dyes and two Glint dye kits (no special dyes in them), along with misc stuff.
Not the perma hair kit I always distantly hope for but it was a decent haul for 10 chests. RNG happens.
At least we still have Agent Spires’ foolishness in CoE. I think my guild dungeoneers laugh more about her than the Veteran Novice, much as we enjoyed mocking the latter.
Any crafting trainer will have a recipe tab. Scroll down to the bottom for higher tier recipes.
Ow, that looks painful. Maybe you could “tile” it with cushions to make a mattress and then put another cushion one tier up as the pillow? Or would the item limit get in the way?
I love having Tele to Friend in one of my slots. Then it doesn’t matter which alt I’m on, if someone’s somewhere hard to reach I can ask them to hold still and hop up to them without asking them to be a mesmer going out of their way to help. I cannot for the life of me do the Southsun geysers JP and I wanted the tiger den at the end, so that saved my bacon.
I like DR more than the Airship as you have to deal with camera issues in the airship and in DR you are part of city Map chat and can wp out into the city for free, plus it’s laid out better. But unless they changed this, the Airship has an Activities NPC and DR does not. I pretty much don’t use either, however, just keep one alt parked in DR as I’m not using her for anything else and on rare occasions log onto her.
Actually it was mentioned in Guild Chat on Jan 22 and quoted in these forums on Jan 23
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Anet-to-reduce-decoration-scribe-cost/first#post5939585
Then Gaile posted https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Scribing-Costs/first on Feb 03, and that got 3 pages of comments.
So no, the first mention wasn’t a couple of weeks ago on Reddit.
No, they didn’t make a big point of it during SAB. Perhaps they should have told us the locked in stuff before the patch hit, especially that which would affect player wallets (I am in the camp of they darn well should have, it’s not just “talk and promises” at that point). However, it was knowledge that we had as of the beginning of February and I know I’m not the only one that held off on scribe stuff based on it.
Well, if you get 10 per 75 orbs + 5 ecto, that is better than needing 90 orbs and 10 crystalline ore. Though you do have to have 25 of a particular orb so you have less granular control. If that small chance at 20 procs, What Savings!
Milkshake, when you said you got 3 gemstones from forging T5’s, did you mean amalgamated gemstones or orbs? I’d be willing to burn my crystals for a shot at turning 4 crystals into 1 amalgamated, but not if it just turns into orbs. I can turn 2 crystals into an orb if my dust supply holds out, for a much larger return of orbs.
Spirit of the Tiger is something you’ll need for the shortbow, but I think the pair of tigers hunt is something different. At least while I was in Caledon for a tiger den in Dreamdark, the tiger hunt kept showing up as an event but by the time I got folks in Map to tell me where it was, no one was triggering it (I have not started the collection myself).
Otoh thank you for that link, Blude! I spent over an hour scouring TD for dens yesterday and couldn’t find the two there though I have all the other dens thanks to some work on my part and to joining with someone else who was also doing it so we could spread out the search. I’m going to try again without looking at the guide but now I know I’ll be able to zero right in on them if I get too frustrated.
Some of them do better in a group. Dulfy does a pretty good job of saying when having more people is good or bad. The parts where you turn into Caithe sometimes work better if you can have someone else be her while you stay safely at a distance — that end centaur one for instance, I haaaaaaate the achieves there. Pretty much anything that requires you personally not to get hit by things will work better with friends taking the hits for you.
The limit was 64 for a long time, then it went up to accommodate those already maxed who wanted to make Revenants. I think it may be around 70 now? So it’s pretty rare for anyone to have that many but there is a cap.
Tastes vary. To me the bow looks extremely tacky. Certainly it’s not something my elegant nobleman Thief would haul about. I have him using Gallant
Not that he IC’ly uses a shortbow anyway, swords and daggers are his thing, and now quarterstaff.
Why does it look tacky to me? It’s big and clunky. The brass/gold and red hues are gaudy and just “dirty” enough to look like a cheap souvenir, something you’d buy in a junky tourist shop, like those “katanas” with glass gems in cheaply painted plastic hilts. The tigers don’t have any detailing as to stripes. I would have preferred something with much smaller limbs that looks like something you could bend (which is how bows work). Snarling tiger heads at the nocks at either end, with engraved detail. Gold limbs, sure, engrave in darker stripings to look tigery. Let some ribbons (pairs of ribbons?) flutter from the ends, maybe inlay some tiger teeth at the riser and/or use them as the rest. Then glitz it up with a red aura, perhaps a swirling red mist that forms a snarling maw.
I do like the tigers it shoots, though others have said they come out too fast to see and I agree that is a problem. In the one video I’ve seen of it in action I couldn’t make out the footprints real well but they didn’t look like glowing tiger paw prints which would have been the obvious choice for me.
It’s rather a relief that this weapon doesn’t match my personal aesthetics, though. I can save my resources for other things. I look forward to seeing others using it and hope they enjoy it. Heck, I’d likely do the first easy part of the collection just to see this tiger hunt people are saying is so fun but right now I’d rather put the 5 gold needed towards amalgamated gemstones
Per my previous post in this thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Compensation-regarding-scribe-decorations/first#post6078781 I am still wondering when you spent this astounding amount of resources on scribing. Because the moment I saw their first comment that they would reduce the costs once they figured out how to deal with the various factors involved, I stopped leveling scribe other than incidental gains from making the 100 sandpaper needed for one hall upgrade. That was months ago. Granted my main guild is on life support and we aren’t exactly pushing the envelope on upgrades and decorations, so there was less pressure to worry about it, but even so there was notice that a cost reduction was on the way.
The longer ago you spent your resources, the longer you’ve had to enjoy having all the stuff, which is its own compensation. This isn’t as bad as complaining that you got to use a boombox for 2 years after buying it in the gem store but now your expense is wasted because other people that didn’t have it for 2 years can now get it for less. But it’s the same principle. You either spent early despite the grotesquely over-expensive costs and then had the cool stuff, or you spent after there was notice that the costs would go down. Either way you made that choice.
Oh, foo. Thought it was guaranteed 10 per based on the OP.
Thank you! Yes, it’s a lot more Q than A atm and it’s time for me to go any minute. Hope it comes out coherent enough to summarize.
Well if you want to go with that line, think about if 10.000 active players make every day 2000+ gold through TP while another 100.000 players make 200+ gold… I think there’s so much of this gold inflation as you said in the game that people getting another 2g just from the dailies really isn’t going to make that massive change into the numbers.
Minor note: The gold players make on the TP comes from other players. It’s not an inflation source because it’s not being generated by the TP.
I saw that and thought it was perfect. Make sure to pay attention to what is near her.
While I don’t flat out want spoilers (yet) I would love some hints as to where in the Rata Novus and SCAR lanes to look for the two Tangled Depths dens for the mini tiger achieve.
Anyone spotted them yet? I just need those two.
(edited by Donari.5237)
Can somebody confirm that now eleven shared slots are the new limit? One free, 10 bought?
This is correct.
The free one is nice. The addition of 5 more is fantastic. I don’t have time to inventory manage just now but I’m going to be sharing many keys.
Right now I’m trying to find tiger dens. Found Lornar’s, Sparkfly is eluding me.
Thank you, I was wondering! Now to do some math to see if that’s cheaper.
Keep in mind that it is a one time thing per account. If you had to do it per character, yes, it would be far too much. The design is balanced around giving you progression for long enough to hold your interest.
If you really don’t like the HoT areas then yes, I could see it feeling interminable. Or if you didn’t start HoT with enough mastery points to max it all out, maybe then too. Still overall I think it’s been a good way to keep (me at least) engaged with the game.
I think she used that term because the blog uses it. Rein in your hype. They don’t want us to know anything in advance because they want us “delighted.” They seem to be relying on keeping expectations nonexistent so anything we get seems major in comparison to the nothing we had.
If it turns out to be way awesome cool mindblowing stuff, I’ll be very happy, happy in the way I was when I first did Omadd’s Machine without any spoilers. If it turns out to be not much of a much for any area of the game, I’ll continue my slide into disillusionment. I’m not betting either way. I’ll find out inside of 19 hours, many of which I will be sleeping through
No one knows. Sometime before 2pm Pacific tomorrow.
Which is how many hours from now?
In ten minutes from this post it will be 7 pm pacific time.
7 + 5 = 12. So it is now 5 hours to midnight.
Midnight to noon is 12 more hours. So 17 hours to noon tomorrow.
Add 2 to get to 2 pm and you get 19 hours from the top of this hour.
edit: The patch should be sometime before that because they are doing the AMA at 2 pm Pacific “after the release is live.”

Scroll down to the bottom for Attribute Change.
I wouldn’t call Reaper a battle mage. The starter concept for its design was the inexorable horror movie monster that moves slowly but you still can’t outrun it, and they delivered on that quite nicely, at least for PvE. I don’t PvP.
Though I think I did help inaugurate a guild hall arena by jumping on someone who came in with an opposite team color and beating her with my PvE set up and moves. I don’t remember her profession at the time or if she normally PvP’s either, I just felt sort of bad for winning when it was her hall and her first fight in it.
If you want super active, though, you’ll want either Thief/Daredevil for tons of positioning and mobility, or Ele or Engineer for moving through sets of hotkey 1-5’s depending on the immediate situation. (The Ele swaps out via F1-F4, the Engie via various kits equipped in the utility keys).
For battle mage I would say Guardian is the closest, though its magery tends to burns, blinds, and crowd control. It is very good at support and can also be tweaked to do dps while supporting, though it’s less likely to give you monstrous hits than some other high damage professions.
I’m going to guess because tanky Reaper is too amazing for words
It really was! Especially as I did it on Donari — I try to do all my exploration and story and events on him first even though he’s not a reaper
— and since he is human noble I knew exactly who that late arrival was and I just loved how the ending tied back to the beginning.
Sadly it seems it will only be a April event.
Confirmed?
It is an annual event now per the blog announcing it. Annual events happen at the same time each year. So while they could unleash it at other times, most likely they will stick to Annual as announced. I understand from perusing discussions (I cannot recall if it was a direct dev comment or just distilled player knowledge that might not be accurate) that SAB breaks with new patches, so they have to fix it before releasing it after a patch and that is maintenance they’d rather do only once a year.
Well as to the reward, it used to be you got a Pact token (maybe you still do?) redeemable for one blue glowy Pact weapon from the Quartermaster at Fort Trinity. As those are tradeable, plenty of them are on the TP. Even at one weapon per alt there are plenty of them people would rather get a gold or two for than unlock the skin themselves.
You also get a dance party, if you talk to the late arrival in the final episode and go all the way through his conversation choices.
The reason for that recap is that they needed to put something in to bridge the narrative gap for people that weren’t around for LS1 (and tons of people begged them to do it, as a matter of fact, as a stop gap until they can reintroduce the content in playable form when it was originally designed to happen and end like RL events do).
I don’t think that recap explains things terribly well to someone that wasn’t there at the time; to me it feels more like a reminder for those who played through it. But it’s better than having no in-game indication of how things went from Zhaitan’s fall to Mordremoth’s awakening.
Let’s celebrate my vanquishing the forum bug!
Waffles? Might have a chance … but not if someone is able to offer, hmm, three red frogs on a rock …
(If they have readable patch notes, maybe they can put them up before the game message “a new build is available” goes out? I mean, at whatever point they aren’t editing them any more?)
I don’t understand Reddit all that well, nor can I ever find quotes in it later. But it does have a dev tracker to go straight to ANet comments, and then you can click on the comment to expand the conversation to see everything in that sub thread. I think.
Just a Flesh Wound does sterling service by abstracting all the dev comments with enough player text surrounding them for context and putting them in a forum thread here. I think Flesh is gonna be fairly busy tomorrow!
But apart from that and just for the records , why not? Why would you leave out the Europeans when advertising such an important things? Are our Euros / British Pounds less worth or are we 2nd class customers here? I noticed stuff like this happening at US companies often (e.g. RIOT games).
Perhaps this will help you to understand? http://venturebeat.com/2016/03/20/why-crunch-time-is-still-a-problem-in-the-video-game-industry/
This was brought to my attention by a dev friend of mine (not in ANet) who is fortunate to work at a company that seldom makes him work over 50 hours a week. The work load for a game dev can be soul crushing enough without having to stay up to 2 or 3 am for the convenience of people halfway around the world. Heck, in my old job the state decided that every freshly arrested person had to have a lawyer from the very first moment at their initial bail review before the commissioner, and that the public defenders would cover that, and oh yes this would mean 24/7 attorney availability. Fortunately the legislature refused to fund the costs of tripling the attorneys in each jurisdiction to cover the extra shifts.
If you want devs available to answer questions at 3 am their time, I hope you are willing to fund the salaries needed for that.
I don’t even bother to do treasure mushrooms any more unless I come across one when I’m not in the middle of something else.
If invis shoes ever do drop for me on my one mushroom a month or so, I’m parlaying them into a perma hair kit as fast as ever I can.
I’m looking forward to seeing what tomorrow’s patch brings but I might avoid the forum afterwards.
Spare a thought for the poor forum mods who will have to deal with the usual rage about what changes were not made, plus the usual rage about what changes were made. We’re a tough crowd to please…
Ah yes. It had occurred to me to recommend that the devs on the Q&A keep the link handy to the official post that says in essence “We will restore the Alpine Borderlands but not in this April patch, this patch will hold tweaks to Desert while we continue to work on redeploying Alpine.” Because dollars to donuts there will be people posting that ANet lied because WvW is still set in the desert after the patch.
So are most NA folks who work normal hours as it will be either during their working day or during their commute home. It’s held during ANet’s workday afternoon.
What concerns me is that it is set “after the patch is live” but is set for 5 pm my time, which is about when I have to stop playing on a Tuesday. Maybe they’re just leaving a time cushion and the patch will hit earlier … I hope so! 2 PM Pacific is fairly late for their normal patch times.
So what is the point of having these forums. More and more devs are posting in Reddit these days.
That discussion was held in https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Comments-about-Communications-1/first (now locked due to the tone the thread took). Perhaps it is a little off topic here?
On topic: I’m glad there will be some Q&A time, though even if I had a Reddit account I’d be too busy doing things in the new patch in my short time window before Tuesday errands take me away to spend out of game time talking about the new things. I’m just hoping the new things are in fact delightful enough and would have been spoiled by a few days’ notice to warrant the silence in advance.
I’m not sure what the question is here but you can toggle an option in Options to auto promote targets and it will do exactly that.
I’ve mostly not had problems. Just twice, I think. Once when I was leading the zerg, which is pretty much just run non stop to where the next preserver spawns, kill it, keep running, NO time to type or wait for folks to catch up. You’re simply a marker so everyone knows where to be. So when a zerg fell apart as everyone got strung out, someone snerked in map about the useless commander.
Never mind the mass of people that didn’t keep running!
The other time was when I as a taxi leader asked people to wp when the map reset rather than use up time rezzing. Being a Reaper I didn’t need to WP, I was just in shroud and ran off after a quick glance to see that everyone in my squad was in my map. I got long (not nasty) commentary from someone who thought I was Doing It Wrong because someone could end up in a different map if they wp’d and not be able to rejoion. I still don’t quite see how that would happen since when you wp you end up in the same map you started in and anyone I could rez would de facto already be in my map, which is the target map for the taxi to move to. /scratches head in puzzlement
I’ll confess I used the hoodie one for a bit in RP since before Wardrobe I had my grunt Guardian wearing that with trousers for his IC clothes. But having to reapply it every 15 minutes (with a confetti burst each time), and not having it in his preferred pale blue — plus dealing with the darn jodhpurs and riding boots attached to it — quickly ended that for me.
