The bow preview doesn’t show the plasma but if you look at the Dulfy gallery linked above the plasma is the string. Ow?
Guess we don’t need -all- our fingers.
LFG Open World needs some subcategories by now. SW, HoT Maps, and Raids come to mind as good divisions, there being many postings filling up Open World on those. Heck, subdivide the HoT maps into 4 so people can sort out which map they’re looking for help in, and give Raids its own category a’la Dungeons with Spirit Vale the only current sub-one listed, as more will come.
Did they fix the map completion rewards in HoT? Has anyone confirmed this?
I can confirm this, I just went to my last vista in VB on my Daredevil and got my Thief cache.
I had not yet completed any HoT maps on him because I was waiting for this fix, so I can’t say that the chest auto-rewards on zone in, but I definitely got mine for completion.
I like how they collapse. The blades don’t quite do it for me thanks to the plasma generating thing at the tip that makes them useless for thrusts (I’m a fencer at heart). The shield’s pretty cool, especially since it collapses enough not to hide all your armor when stowed.
I’ll take a few days to consider if I want to spend my only current ticket on one of these. I’ll have to have an alt who primarily uses a weapon that is one of the Plasma ones I like.
Oh, and I left out (it was in my longer version) that Evon will talk to you when the box is in your wardrobe and displayed as your active mini. I did not try him with it stowed.
Well, I just typed a nice long guide to doing this, and got a forum error that ate it. Sorry ><
Anyway, short form is Evon eventually will come to his desk if you don’t find him elsewhere. He sends you to Metrica once you get him to talk to you (might need to be the only one hitting F by him). In Metrica you find an asura to talk to. Be the first to hit F when he starts walking, you get the dialogue while everyone else waits (I describe this in a Bug post). Go to north Wayfarer, the east side of the ice elemental patch just south of the Svanir ice fort. Kill the named elemental. Now you have five minutes to get to the Mount Maelstrom volcano and hop in the lava. Get a dialogue popup, get out of the fire, you should have your red spark in your bags.
I got my DT/SW reward chests and they contained Thief armor and weapons, one of which was worth over 3 gold, the others less than 2 gold. So it may not be random, it may be profession based.
I was in a party to find the mini red spark. I joined someone who’d found the ice elemental, we spoke in party, then hopped to Mount M for the next step, talked more in party. I went to LA and she disbanded the party — I went to scroll up to see if she’d said anything while I was zoning and -all- our party chat was gone.
I haven’t checked other chats like guild chat yet. I hope we’re not back to losing chatlogs like we used to.
Update: He did respond. But the way he seems to work is he starts walking after no one talks to him for a bit, then the first person to talk to him gets the clues while everyone else has to wait.
So it’s a fight over who hits F first when Krepet is moving.
I wonder if one can do the ending part without talking to Evon or Krepet if one knows the trick, or if one must go through the dialogues to activate finding the spark?
Evon took a while to reply to me about my new chest. But he sent me on to Krepet, who is not responding to interaction. Perhaps he is confused by so many people trying to talk to him?
Shouldn’t we have one of these with the elites? I don’t have shop skills but I’m loving seeing what others are doing.
I’ve noticed this as well. You get the harvested material quickly enough so you can just run off mid channel if you are at one node. But if you are gathering several nodes next to each other you have to wait out a long channel, I think about the same time as three mines or three woodcuts, before you can harvest the next node.
It could be they’re allowing enough time for the tune to play, but frequently the music’s over and the bar’s still going. I’d greatly appreciate a truncation of the cast time.
Lots of good feedback here. I’ll nix just one part of it, the desire to balance the night/day cycle in VB. Not because it’s necessarily a bad plan, but because they’re using the whole game’s night/day cycle which has always had longer days than nights.
As someone who likes playing in daylight when I can see colors better and prefers doing screenshots of clothing in day, I’d hate for everywhere in the game to be dim half the time.
Did you try typing “auric” into the search panel on your recipe tab? Are your crafters at least 400 skill? Are you using a HoT account? Likely the answer to all this is “yes” but if any one of them is “no” then that’s why.
Or else the wiki is wrong and it’s not automatic unless you’ve bought a vendor recipe that uses the ingots?
I’ve had that happen. As far as I’ve been able to determine, once those are filed, they’re filed.
At least the in-game tickets never give a response to you, so the dev (or QA person or screening reader) can look at it, say “this player is wrong about this being a problem,” and close it out without having to do more.
Per previous threads on this, it unlocks when a level 40 guild upgrades its guild armorer to a higher tier (2 or 3, I don’t know).
So either upgrade your hall, or find a guild willing to let you rep long enough to get it. I believe it stays in your wardrobe even when you leave the guild.
I’ve only done the fight a few times so far. It’s felt fine to me. I disagree with making it longer or harder, because you have to go through so long a set up and then only on a win can you get to the vendor needed for a lot of collections, and that’s assuming you’ve won the fight enough to have the currency to buy things from the vendor at all.
Adding a real fail chance to even organized battles will stretch out collections far too much, imo.
I think the idea isn’t to protect you from finding yourself suddenly in a fight but to protect the fight from a zerg joining it, and to make it more serious if you die during the fight.
I was lucky enough to be in the map for other reasons when someone asked in map if anyone wanted to do the Oola lab event. I hustled over and did it, and the vendor spawned right after. The person who’d started it alerted the map that the vendor was up for a short time. This was within the last week, I think.
So if you can’t get it maybe you can monitor map chat or even ask if anyone has it and is willing to open the event.
Check the wiki for full details (top set of tabs above the GW2 logo on this page). Just put in Ascended and you’ll get links to all the things.
Short form — the surest way to get armor/weapons is to craft them. Drops are very rare, though at least now you can convert a drop to your desired stats if you can get the necessary inscription/insignia. Trinkets can be bought for laurels, and rings drop quite often in fractals (or did, I haven’t done fractals extensively under the new system). You can also get trinkets for doing sets of achievements in the Story; after you unlock one once via achieves, you can then buy it for map currency, eg for bandit crests in SW.
Hope that helps.
edit: Also you can now do an involved collection achievement for the new elites to get some fairly spiffy ascended weapons. I’m mostly working on Bo for the Daredevil.
I’ve only fought the treasure mushrooms on my reaper. As Blood Red Arachnid says, one can fairly well ignore adds. I got the AB mushroom pinned against the stream last night and some bristlebacks joined the fun. Their showers of bristles simply weren’t a problem as I focused on the mushroom (I was hoping they were also damaging the mushroom, but I can’t be sure if they were, though I did try to keep it between me and the dinos). I had time to send out multiple map calls letting people know I was fighting the mushroom, even though normally I can’t type during combat. No one came til the last little bits of health and thus I effectively soloed it down.
I have a feeling I’ll find it a tougher proposition on other professions.
Speaking of professions, the alpha order continues. In my three drops I’ve gotten Berserker, Chronomancer, Daredevil. I guess I’ll be getting Dragonhunter, Druid, Reaper, Scrapper, Tempest next, then Herald if/when I make my revenant. And I know I’ll never get invisible feet because I don’t get the really rare drops that sell for thousands.
Sorry, after this, you cant convince me in a 100 years that this is impossible when you have game developers such as WoW & Arch Age who have done it. It can be done.
Uhm, ArcheAge was designed from the start with open-world player housing in mind, and it has persistent servers instead of overflow instances, so I don’t really see what this has to do with GW2.
As to WoW, it doesn’t have anything similar to what you are talking about. Are you referring to the garrison system? Because that is instanced too.
ArcheAge debuted with a serious land rush as everyone charged out to claim plots of land. In a game designed for open world housing, with that housing vital to gear progression, there wasn’t enough for everyone. The already toxic forums exploded with foulness caused by the fight over a limited resource. Apparently this was ok in that game, which encourages griefing, cheating, scamming, and abuse. Literally encourages it, dev posts said that was all part of the game.
GW2 is a game dedicated to the spirit of cooperation. And even here, when there is a limited resource of any sort, people get nasty. I’m sorry, OP, but you simply cannot provide infinite housing in a finite space, so there will always be someone who can’t get their hall because someone else muscled in first, and then you will have a community in flames. It won’t work in this game.
You say you didn’t explain it well. Please restate your idea so we can discuss your actual intent, because as you stated it things sure sound like you’re going for open world areas that only one guild can have at a time.
Others have posted similar issues. The recipe lists three professions because they can all make one component, but you still need them on the crafter who will make the final item. Whoever learns the recipe is the one who gets it to use at the crafting station so your huntsman has the recipes learned now.
You can go to the legendary vendor in LA and spend karma for a new chest of recipes and learn them on the Artificer. Note that you can learn recipes on a crafter who is not yet that skilled, they show as red in your crafting list. So you can learn them then skill up to actually make them.
I wonder if jungle raptors or the black moa in VB might drop it. I’ll have to try them. Sorry, feathered jungle beasts, you’re about to be a target just for existing.
The thought has crossed my mind from time to time that this would be helpful. Though I stare at the mats tabs enough that I know where to find things now, the lack of a search feature has been more evident as we get all these new mats from HoT without even knowing what they’re for yet. (Hi, Maguuma Burls and Lilies — I’m sure someone’s figured you out, but for me you’re just something to stash ’til I know I want you).
Does your Mesmer have 100% old Tyria completion, with the gold star by the name? Because that’s the issue we’re all having, and I think ANet intends a fix for this to be in the Tuesday patch after which people will just need to go to the map and have the reward trigger.
You should get the reward for each alt, same way you get the Gift of Exploration reward for each alt that does old world completion. After all, you need to complete the maps multiple times if you want to make more than one of the new legendaries. So your Mesmer likely has that gold star, I’m guessing. If not, you still might want to wait for Tuesday’s patch and then see if the award triggers on zone in before you submit a ticket.
I don’t even have a Revenant yet and I got a head lining or something else headpiece related when running CoF with friends. That place is chock full of Flame Legion, after all.
I’m trying to get this drop as part of the Bo collection. Per wiki it drops from Tengu in Auric Basin near West Watch. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Silencing_Down_Feather
I spent a rather long time finding a way up onto that plateau and started killing Tengu. I learned that the Scouts don’t drop anything at all, that I can’t solo the Champion though at least he leashes very fast so I didn’t have to flee the plateau, and that there is a spot where an Assassin and a Warrior spawn and they drop very minimal stuff, whites and blues.
I’m not a farmer and I hate grind and I would really like to know there is a chance for me to get this drop in this location before I waste my time on it. Can anyone confirm the wiki’s information? Do I need to get a bunch of folks up to kill the champ?
I’m not sure what’s going on here, it may or may not be a bug. Twice this evening since reset I’ve had a field of plants vanish after I harvest the first one.
One: Lettuce outside Beetletun. I went there for daily Krytan foraging. I ran up, harvested one lettuce (with a flute), and then the rest of the lettuce heads went inactive, no yellow text, could not interact. However, there was a centaur attack going on two fields south, and when that event ended the lettuce came back and I was able to harvest the rest.
Two: Just now in the Jaka Itzel flax farm. I hopped on my Huntsman who was parked down there so as to take him off to craft something I need. I’m pretty sure I harvested the farm on him right after reset, but not 100% sure as I was rushing through my parked alts before joining friends in a fractal. So when I saw all the flax active I went “oh look, I missed this on him.” But I harvested one node for 2 flax seeds, using a regular ori sickle, and then the rest poofed just like the lettuce had, with no nearby event. So perhaps I shouldn’t have had access to that one plant.
You only get the drop once a day per map. If you killed a mushroom in the same map, you won’t get the big chest twice in a day.
Behellagh, each 10 silky sands has a chance to drop one coarse sand. 3 coarse sands + a thermo thingie make a lump of glass. You need lumps of glass to make glass mugs, and you need a million * glass mugs to upgrade a guild hall tavern. (I happen to need lumps of glass to make a vial of green goo, too, so I’m working on the 50 lumps that calls for).
So you can see that sand farming is a thing now.
- a million is for effect. It’s more like tens or hundreds. But it’s not easy for smaller guilds to amass.
As far as I can tell the leaderboards at the adventures only show people from my friends list who’ve done them. At least, I always recognize the names and yet I don’t think my friends are the only ones placing. Bogdan, you might just not have any friends playing who’ve made silver/gold?
Is there a place to see all the leaderboards without having to go to the adventure and see the one or two names visible there?
Huh, I had 15 blooms left over but didn’t see anything I could buy with them. I’ll go back to look for the sand since I need 27 more lumps of glass just now and I can’t do SW all day.
Speaking of SW, note that you can also spend bandit crests on sandy bags of gear, bottom of the first tab in the Camp Resolve vendor. I find that I can buy 10 bags (80 copper and 15 crests each) and get around 5 coarse sand from the purchase once I process the sand in the bags, along with a lot of greens/blues to salvage for mats.
I’m continuing to work on crafting mine in the hope that when I’m done (I posit another month or more to finish farming the linseed oil and lumps of glass and glacial lodestones) it will be fixed.
Meanwhile I noticed last night that my Glittering Wings weren’t showing, they’d been toggled off. I might have done that myself, however, when considering the Lyssa outfit on my winged alt. I have noticed my mini getting toggled off, not just hidden by rising pop, and that’s something I only toggle off when doing RP where my alt wouldn’t have such a pet. So I know that was the game doing it (haven’t had RP in a while, sadly).
This happened to a lot of people in Shadow Behemoth last night per a quick /say query. We did get credit and loot at the end but had no quick way of telling how many portals were left to destroy. (I know my chat box in the screenie only shows a couple of people but lots more commented both in say and in map; no one said they did have the event bars).
My next line was the answer to my rhetorical question: the maintenance requirement, against which I argued at length in the CDI. Once you require people to log in or pay fees or keep doing events just to hold onto what they already did, you’ve turned something fun into a grinding job. You also don’t allow for people to go away for a month or two for whatever reason and come back to a game where they haven’t lost what they’ve built.
Again, look through the CDI, each and every issue and idea you’ve raised was discussed in extensive detail there back when it was actually affecting guild hall development.
What it would do is change the city from equal access to haves and have nots. Are you saying that only a miniscule part of the population would have the ability to decorate an area of the city but everyone else would get to/have to see what they’ve done? How do you handle a guild claiming a spot, then going extinct but that spot is claimed? That opens up the problems of requiring maintenance to hold onto game progress.
All of this was discussed at great length in the Guild Halls CDI. You may want to peruse that thread to see all the counter-arguments to open world halls.

Hurray! And sure, call on me for NA aid, generally afternoons eastern time are best for me but pretty much any time from, say, 2 pm eastern to 11 pm eastern most any day but Tuesday. If I’m at my computer odds are I’m available to help; PM me here to catch my attention if I’m not in game.
I have a Sylvari warrior and a Sylvari guardian. I agree that the heavy armor is very nice (and has nifty glows). Just make sure to consider what your skin tone will do to the armor. Tier 2 on males has a big blotch at the waist that is a browned version of skin tone, so my male warrior with lemon/green skin tones has to do reds and oranges on the armor. My female guardian in T3 has very dark brown skin so though her armor is in cream and gold she gets a grey area on the lower torso.
Vieux, you may not have seen what happens with limited real estate in games. People go to war over it, hatreds are born, you get feuds over who “owns” a spot. You also overestimate how much extra space there is in the cities. Your request is tantamount to saying “sure, we only have 100 apartment units in this building, but all one million people in this city have to live in them or be homeless.”
Lost Precipice question, will the updrafts be put into a permanently on state? That is a serious QoL issue with that hall
Some of the mid air drafts don’t even have a jump pad, or else are stair steps in the air from one way down low. It makes zero sense to have to go manually trigger the pad far below where you’re trying to go just so you can then go back where you were and glide into it.
(This is semi on topic since people wanting to change halls should know they’re getting a disabled feature for mobility there. Not that I’d swap away from Precipice, it really is a more fun map and has more sunlight, but that really is an issue with it).
Sylvari have a much better dance, and their cultural armor incorporates their skin tone and has dyeable glow pulses. Win?
Unless you’re trying to dye the armor in hues that don’t mesh well with the enforced skin tone parts. Then it can be annoying.
I only have one plate, alas. I think you need to salvage yellow reclaimed weapons for them (which is why those cost so much on the TP). I’m just going for the inscription to start, then I can build up the resources for the plated weapon and whatever I need to do to machine it.
Maybe my one plate came from a blue or a green, but I really don’t know. Yellows seem more likely.
A good point. Looks like a ticket is in order.
Apparently the collection drops are coming in alpha order by the elites you’ve unlocked, so Berserker, Chronomancer, Daredevil etc. Someone posted earlier today that it was actually whichever collection you have most advanced, but I disproved that for myself when I killed my first mushroom today (it was in VB, happily a couple of other people arrived a few minutes in, and yes I did announce it in map at the start). I am 7 or 8 pieces towards Bo and was 3 pieces towards Wild Abandon, but yep, the mushroom went to Wild Abandon.
So now I have to find two more mushrooms. I missed Auric’s because I hadn’t gotten that WP yet on the alt I was on, haven’t tried Tangled yet. I don’t know how often they spawn, either. So it’ll take a bit. But hey, long as I get them by Tuesday, it’s fine. Since I can’t get my Thief map completion box ’til the patch anyway.
(Also I was sad to have 48 crystalline ore when I finished DS today. I would have liked the Daredevil inscription. Ah well, I do like running that event!)
Just making sure, you are a paid account, right? Because if you have a free version you’re not going to unlock the TP and mail.
I don’t know for sure but I have seen comments in the forums suggesting you can buy more from the Legendary guy for karma. Hopefully that means the recipes.
Not just click, but drag to an empty slot (must start in your inventory, I think, so take the stack to your bags, split it, then return the leftovers).
This norn exists because of that method:
Male or female? Male sylvari have a problem with long coats going bell shaped from the waist down.
What you might want to do if you have an open character slot is make one of each race and take them in turn to a bank wardrobe tab and start previewing all the armor. Make sure to have equipped dyes that are light enough and different enough in hue to show the armor details. You won’t be able to see how the armor moves but you’ll get an idea of how it fits and how it mixes.
