Oy. Well, I shall continue with the Nuhoch in my own good time. I think I want to keep on moving each line up evenly since if I do a high tier I could be doing a couple of lower ones in the same time frame and expanding my options overall.
I started HoT with 214 HP (world complete plus level 80). Yesterday and the day before I ran around in a guild group getting them and unlocked Daredevil. Now I have 4 points.
So I guess I got 20 challenges and stopped doing them on that alt. I might have to try doing another one to make sure I can still accrue points.
Go explore, Windu
Or do the PS, it takes you there. Lots of events in it but the story explains what it is better.
I’ll have to do the Dragon’s Stand full event to get a more epic feel, then. Not that the Mordy fight was a bad fight, it was just too fast. (I say this but must admit that it also felt much easier to me because I joined a pug and we had the best Ele ever who soloed Mordy down from 3/4 health while the rest of us stood helplessly on the balcony watching).
The “too fast,” though, means too early in the story. This is the big bad. It was supposed to be harder than Zhaitan and that took a very long time of gathering resources and information; that was far more satisfying except for the simple fight at the very end. So now we get a fairly epic fight (albeit in a small confined space with a relatively small toad boss instead of a jungle-sized dragon) but we didn’t have to do very much story to get to it at all.
I’d have liked a much longer story buildup, culminating in a select team finding its way through a rift of Mind and fighting through ever changing landscapes against foes both solid and amorphous whilst the rebuilt Pact forces pounded away outside to help distract the foe. We in the small team would see occasional vast ripples and light bursts or something to indicate a strong blow from outside, and use those moments to do extra anti-Mordy mechanics.
At least, that’s one idea I have on tweaking this particular idea on how to slay Mordremoth. I had been hoping for a massive army assault across all the terrain, ending in devastating the ecosystem of the jungle so we could feel super guilty but it was the only way to weaken Mordremoth enough to take him out. Maybe using the poison injectors developed from Tower of Nightmares. (Come to think of it, nothing’s happened to Kaz yet from getting thorn-poked, what’s with that?). We could Agent Orange the jungle. Then maybe go deliver the KO in the Mind.
Also, I bet a lot of “I want to kill Trahearne” people are very happy now.
Of course I believe there are plans for ongoing stories in LS so maybe it will turn out we didn’t actually slay Mordremoth. Despite the whole “I can feel him gone from my mind” speech.
All of this isn’t to say this was bad. The pacing is all I really take issue with; the writing and voice acting and mechanics and art were all very nice, and the fights used what we’ve been learning (at least, updrafts were key at the end).
I’ve restarted, swapped chapters, swapped alts, swapped zones, and I still have text saying to train Itzel Poison Lore. I just took this screenshot, Mon Oct 26 1:35 pm eastern.
I was following the rocks but the second one offered no response to interaction and did not trigger the next rock, I just lost the green star.
/will keep trying
EDIT: The next try worked! I am progressing to the next zone.,

There’s a Nuhoch in a cranny in the side of a cliff in a chasm. Easily reached by the most basic gliding, but once there the guy just says You Are Not WORTHY and turns his back.
I’ve not gone back since unlocking Nuhoch 1, and am almost done with 2 (wallows). Has anyone got that HP, and what tier Nuhoch did you have?
I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying. You think you get a legendary weapon just for talking to the guy? It’s a long long journey. What you’ve unlocked is the initial collection you have to assemble towards the precursor.
Go to your Achievements tab, click on Collections>Legendary Collections (I think — I’m not in game atm to look), and you’ll see what all you have to collect and do.
Has anyone tried beating up on the Jormag tooth in Hoelbrak? Thanks to that being there, Jormag is … slightly more toothless than before …
/is out of ideas
It’s in the wardrobe, at least, I saw it yesterday when scanning for new skins. Whether it’s dropped, forged, or crafted, well, that’s the question.
I did this with some friends and some random people last night. Some of the random people insisted on standing in one spot so there were some fails as the mob pounced and siphoned like mad, but once they figured out that our guiding comments in chat would help them succeed they learned to move in circles and dodge. And we got it!
I would guess that once you have a crafting station, eg for scribing, that it will have a bank tab like any other crafting station.
Guess, not know, my guild has only made one attempt so far at a hall and while we had fun, we need everyone to have updraft use so we can get to the spawns in time.
/scratches head
Then where did that 17K xp come from? It was there the moment I selected the mastery line for the first time.
Oiled weapon crafting... Missing 1 component.

I don’t know, it sounds like the 3 things should be enough. Maybe some random exotic level 80 sword? Though with the hilt and blade being made already, that would be silly.
I’ve read people saying that sometimes the Forge is finicky about what order you put the items in which boxes. Maybe try playing around with that, only in the Discovery Panel rather than the Forge.
I say no to this suggestion because it is a waste of development time.
Do we get to say no to some things you would like implemented because we think it would be a waste of time?
I see that in https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/Build-Saving-Stronghold-Deathmatch/first#post5622204 you suggested a few things for Stronghold. Sounds like it would take some development time to change how door guards and supply dropping works. Those of us who likely will never play Stronghold would rather the resources went to our own concerns.
Unless, of course, we understand that different things matter to different people and that having more furniture choices to allow more robust use of the deep decorating system already in place would be welcome by some people who don’t happen to be you, while refining Stronghold gameplay will no doubt make other people (such as you) happy and thus would also be worth doing.
I’m having a total blast in the new maps with my guildies. I’m very happy with my purchase.
However, you left due to not liking some of the core game design. They have introduced more delineated roles now — Druids to heal, eg — but it’s still not a trinity sort of assigned role and only applies to the most advanced content. So while I’m all for people buying and trying for themselves, you might want to wait, watch videos, see more objective reviews than what you get from people frustrated by something and venting on the forums.
Also, you can still play in the core game, including doing the Halloween event this week and next week, so you might get a feel for the current state of things other than the new professions and maps. Try it out, see if anything hooks you enough to want to buy the expansion. If not, you’ve saved some money and made a decision based on your own opinion rather than on the fulsome praise or deep castigation by others.
Outhouses? We don’t have outhouses. We use sewers to let it all flow into the bay.
On topic: Beds aren’t a thing? You already have bed models in game! Many of them not usable, eg the canopied beds in the manor in DR, but still. Interactive or not, there should be a good array of furnishings to suit everything a guild member might do in the home base, including bunking down for a good kip.
I don’t think you lose out on the xp. At least a couple of times I’ve trained my mastery tier and picked my next one and was already a chunk into it. Eg Exalted Lore, I picked that after getting Lean Techniques in Gliding, and had 17K xp applied immediately. I don’t think they’re letting any XP be wasted.

TLDR: It’s a bug they can’t fix.
How much influence did you have pre HoT? Because 30K carried over is enough to buy the 150 favor you need at 10K/50 favor at the exchange NPC in the Guild Initiative HQ. That and 100 gold and you will have the mission kicked off. Gather up some friends to help with the claiming (I don’t know how easy the claim is, my guild is small enough that we’re waiting for people to finish the first flush of exploration and mastery gain before we seek out the Lost Precipice).
The profession description on each box just means that that profession will be able to use whatever comes out of the box. There’s no gear in game that is tied to a particular profession. I generally choose the Mesmer box when I have the option, because I’ll get silk from armor salvage and there’s a vague, laughable chance I could get a GS precursor. But if I get a trident, then any of my alts that have trident use can have it.
I am not bored. Tired, yes, I’ve had a long run of concentrated game play and feel a bit stymied in my progression thanks to trying to mix Halloween and mastery progression. I didn’t get further on the bat effect shoulders than one Bat Wing, which is as far as anyone has gotten as it turns out. So now I’m wondering how much I wasted my gold and materials (plus I did a Mystic Chest since every time I asked in chat what was in one people linked a ton of neat things. Turns out they were linking their ToT results and ignoring me. The chest gave me trophies worth 3 gold and a component to make a city portal scroll. I just waypoint to cities, so no way was this worth 3 stacks of cured thick leather). I’ve not gotten into Ascent yet, have done one hour of the Maze, and am about out of candy corn thanks to helping Drooburt but still have a number of achieves to go … that I already accomplished in previous years.
So Halloween’s making me feel a bit meh and wishing I’d just stayed in the jungle to advance masteries.
Meanwhile I was hearing my guildies having soooo much fun exploring. And there, you see, there’s the non-boring part. You don’t have to do the same events over and over, just push on to new maps, unlock new things. The laughter and exclamations over Mumble were marvelous (I did join them for a bit of it, thanks to having some Teleport to Friend items). Everywhere we went there were new events and new mechanics, and between those we were scoping out Hero Challenges. Not all are mastery gated (though that giant Chak one? Don’t try to solo that until you know the fight and your build. It’s for a good hunk of people to do at once).
I don’t think HoT is going to bore me for a very long time, if ever. There’s so much to explore.
Yes, I used it with the Wedding Attire and it worked fine.
Hmm, I cannot find it on the wiki, so I guess it’s new and Aveneo is right. The thing is your map is showing regular SW and you need to be in the instance (if you are just now starting the very first part of the HoT story). You return to the instance by going to the south entrance of the Red fort.
If that doesn’t work (and again, assuming you are doing the very first story of HoT), you may need to cancel the chapter in your hero panel and start it again. The whole thing is very short:
- talk to the Pact woman in Red.
- escort a green-shield-icon group of Pact to Amber — on the way talk to Rox and Braham and then Marjory and Kasmeer, possibly having to clear some Mordrem first.
- head to the wall on the other side of Amber without worrying about defending the fort (unless you didn’t escort anyone, in which case you may have to complete the defense event).
- walk past the green star in the wall.
- talk to Taimi and Canach.
- head up the little steps until you get a cinematic and the pop up asking if you want to go on with the story.
Then you should be back on track.
I went through only once from LA, found myself in the NE wp. I roamed around the maze, then looked and noticed I had the NW one unlocked. I figured it was automatic on entry.
Maybe I had them credited from last year?
There should be an entrance in the west wall. I marked it on your picture.
That only works if s/he is in the instanced SW; from the picture, it’s regular SW. Plus the comment about hoping we’re enjoying HoT whilst the OP tries to do the story suggests it’s pre-HoT story.
Which story step are you on? If it’s from Season 2 I bet you need to go to the WP in south SW. You take the short skritt tunnel up onto the ledge then head to the back left and down into the maze.
If it’s in HoT, the PS there starts by the south gate of Red fort.
Because the older maps weren’t built for it and you’d break them. Like, graphic glitches, hanging unsupported terrain with holes under it, buildings without backs.
So to “enable” it they would have to literally rebuild each map from the base up, then also change mechanics and design to prevent cheesing JPs or breaking NPC pathing in events. Like … they’d have to build the game all over again and it would take years.
I think you have to get HoT. to be sure. But the skin did unlock in the Hero Panel upon receipt of the item, and people had their HoT glider skin ready after consuming it months ago.
Probably if you get some Tattered Bat Wings from Halloween mobs you will unlock a collection that will guide you. I’ll test this later today.
Alas, I shall spoil your fun. You are seeing the preload of character models (or have your graphics set to always show them). That pink armored form has been the default place holder for a very long time.
All I see is the blog (and its quote by Dulfy) to “collect Tattered Bat Wings to start” working on the shoulderpiece.
I guess once I get bouncing mushrooms I’ll want to roam around the Maze for wings.
After I faceplant of course. /is not a morning person
Hurray! Our guild will go for that one as well but we have … a few less members than you seem to
I couldn’t access any guild stuff in beta because it was all disabled and I had a ton of fun just in the little slivers of map I could reach. You’ll also have masteries you can work on without a guild and some of those will be useful in Pact Tyria. And the story will continue in the jungle areas; they’ve improved the LS from LS1 to LS2 and likely will give us even more fun encounters (this time replayable with different choices and with more things to see as masteries progress).
But if you’re not psyched to get it now, less than 6 hours from launch, you may as well wait until you see the forums exploding with amazement at stuff. Perhaps see videos, read some spoilers, observe others around you enjoying their elite specs, armors, minis, etc.
Hmm, all I’ve managed is some left over shake and bake pork chops I can eat fast and a few frozen meals that nuke up in minutes.
But then I tend to forget to eat for most of the day when I’m involved in computer stuff.
/face palm
You’re right. I did have my bank open at the time but I had my Preview and Inventory open on top of it so nothing I did should have sent it there.
Phew!
/goes to close ticket
I was salvaging some armor bits I’ve decided not to carry around with me and my Silver Fed Salvage-O-Matic just vanished. The way a limited use salvage kit does when you use its last charge.
It was human cultural medium armor, I got the leather from it, but the kit was gone from my bags. I have searched by “Silver” in bags, it didn’t get moved. Nor was it drag/drop destroyed because the only confirmation button I pressed was the one that gave me the leather, at which point I saw the empty spot where my Silver salvager used to be.
Yes, I’ve submitted a ticket, but don’t expect it to be seen soon given how full up Support must be. I’ll make a Mystic kit to carry to the jungle for yellow salvages until this is resolved but it’s an unsettling feeling to have an infinite item go poof and others might want to know this could happen.
What about commendations? Do I need to go ahead and spend the few that I have today or will they stick around?
Individual commendations are staying and will still be useful. You can hold onto them. Heck, they might (pure guessing on my part) be needed for access to the new guild armors.
I agree, Flesh, but I think I have seen one other main reason presented by others on these forums, to wit keeping the guild a closer knit community with vested interest in that guild’s events. Which seems a little odd in the 500 man guilds that have to find room for new members by booting those who haven’t participated as much … but I can see the point. So long as it isn’t carried to the extreme of kicking someone because they were in their personal guild to do some banking.
Not that I’ll ever join a guild that dictates that I cannot hang out with anyone but them, but I understand the dynamic in play.
In that case you have a very odd bug and might want to contact Support before someone decides you’ve hacked something.
Or do Rangers just get more points to make up for all the dissing they’ve received over the years?
Hereos, part of a complete breakfast!
This must be what all the spoon collecting was for.
/dies laughing
Just wait ‘til there’s food items you can only eat if you have collected the right spoon …
Check the sticky at the top of this page on Personal Story Restoration. It has all the details.
Experience Booster Question: When it says 50% experience for all game types, will that in fact boost mastery xp? Or only pre-80 xp?
I went to SW to get a few more points on my Engineer but didn’t have the time to do a whole map cycle to get into VW. I tried a LFG to find a map that had just finished VW (figured there’d be room in one and I could run in for the HP in there) but no one offered a taxi.
I have a feeling that one point is going to mock me for only ever doing SW rounds on my Thief. All my other alts will likely just not get it.
I really hate doing anything that can slow down the patching so I tend not to start playing until the patch is done, streaming or not.
If I’m in “playable” with 45 minutes left to go on just patching, though, I might make an exception.
Not that I saw. It’s the launch trailer with occasional clickable text that pauses the video and gives you the HoT site info on the subject, such as “Revenant” which shows up on a close up of Rytlock crouched as the wyvern falls over the cliff behind him. So nothing new for anyone that’s been absorbing the information as it came out.
I have 307 on my ranger alt- newest char, tomed from abt lvl 30 before the last trait patch hit. He has abt 20% map completion but all traits and skills unlocked. Guess my first elite char will be a druid, which is a shame as i was stoked for my necro but he only has 170 hp.
I think you typo’d something there. With all traits and skills unlocked the most you could have is 214.
Lots of things happen at midnight, but my favorite has to be …
The Celery Stalks at Midnight
Oh, the brilliance of Bunnicula.
… Now I want Anet to have some celery in a vase during their live stream, not just apples on the table.
Oh, good point Flesh, I should put xp boosters on a couple of alts.
- Check guild buffs and banners to have the most queued at launch possible (make sure the catapult and siege suit are in queue so they’ll become recipes)
- Possibly top off various alts to HP amounts in multiples of 10
- Possibly work on clearing a lot of bag space for my first few alts to enter the jungle, making sure they have salvage kits. Clear more bag space on any alt I want to use for Halloween stuff
- Play more DA:I before I abandon it for a long time to play HoT
- Eat a large meal and then take a long evening nap so I can be awake at 3 am
- Wake up in time for launch
