Was wondering why someone was using it while I was PvPing earlier today, was wondering how a gimmicky build was able to last so long later down the divisiosns. Since Anet seems to recognize the issue as well, a bug is a bug.
I was going to make one of my long winded posts on the subject but honestly the OP doesn’t feel worth it.
The suggested change would be castration to the druid. And in case that gets censored what I said rhymes with defenestration. (Defenestration meaning TO THROW OUT A kittenING WINDOW which is what OP wants to do to druid)
You would render the druid completely incapable of doing its job. In EVERY way. Removing the few reasons for both DPS druids AND Support druids can exist. Effectively gutting the class.
No, With the power creep since HoT the base ranger lines do NOT offer enough sustain to handle what comes at them at high level play. Incase you FORGOT SOMEHOW.
Rangers used to be a focus target on a similar level to necros. Because the base ranger simply could not get away.
Ranger used to be FREE KILLS to organized groups. Because nothing the ranger did once it started to get locked down by skilled people actually mattered. They have zero chance of doing anything to stop there attackers. And relied on thieves or mesmers to peel for them over…and over…and over again.
“Suggestions” like this show a complete lack of understanding on how the class even functions. As well as a questionable ability to perceive reality. And just shows why the playerbase SHOULDN’T always have a say in how class balancing is done.
Druid is one of the smaller fish on the field today. The fact that you made this post tells me that you got trolled by one on home or far. And rather than figure out WHY you lost and what you could have done better. You came here to do what everyone else in this community has done before you. Cry until you butcher something you don’t like.
Whatya know. I ended up making one of my posts anyway. Sorry to anyone who has to read this.
Summed up how I feel, +1
ok i’ll jus go full magi then i was jus getting confused with all the zealot gear talk from ppl in the forum
Can give you my take on it, since I was one of the few who crafted zealots…. The damage increase is pretty minimal, since you will be in Cele form the majority of the time.
Trying to make a hybrid between damage and healing really isn’t gonna get you anywhere to be honest. If you plan to heal, you may as well just stick with the role cause the majority of the time you will spend as a heal Druid is inside your Celestial form, leaving the only time you actaully ‘DPSing’ is with staff.
Gear wise, I would suggest full magi armor, Monk runes, Sigil of Transference & Renewal. Utility wise, Rice Balls for the healing power and outgoing healing %.
If you want to run Druid with damage, just run a condi or zerk set and slot in Druid.
that would be dope but i bet they’ll wont do that. parrenlty the next expac is giving ranger main hand dagger, hopefully there’s something like a blink on there
Hoping that, if it is dagger main-hand, it will be a condi weapon. Tired of my main-hand weapons being hybrid…..
So I am curious in where a Trapper Ranger would fit; does it act as either a team fighter or a side pointer? Tired of running Beast Master Druid, depsite enjoying playing it for the last 4 seasons.
Thoughts on these upcoming additions and how they might affect a SPvP trapper build?
New PvP Amulet: Deadshot Amulet: 1050 Precision, 1050 Condition Damage, 560 Vitality, 560 Expertise
This amulet should be a viable choice for lower-HP precision proc-based condition classes, such as condition engineer and condition ranger. It provides strong offense, with some defense through vitality.
New PvP-only Rune: Rune of the Lynx: +175 power, +100 Condition Damage, +25% Movement Speed
Would there be a possiblity of adding the option to assign the auto-cast mechanic toward the Pet skill bind? Currently we don’t have the option to do that, unlike with the rest of our binds on our skill bar. This change would more impact PvE, rather than PvP and WvW due to wanting to save your skills rather than spamming.
I have an eerie feeling that a moderator is lurking nearby…..
The knockback for longbow has definitely earned its infamous renown among the group content, but it serves even more of a purpose now than just for PvP and WvW. It’s earned a useful place among Druids for either extra CC or for certain mechanics in a Raid setting. This would end up limiting our options for situations like pushing orbs in Xera, Keep Construct, and even Vale Guardian.
With the new Nightmare Tower Fractal introducing real raid mechanics, I would expect to see even more fractals with similar mechanics like pushing some type of object. So I am gonna have to say I disagree with this suggestion because Longbow 4 has found a purpose amongst group content now.
‘If’ Fortifying Bond become baseline, I would like the trait to be further improved from its current design. We are able to share boons consistently with out pet, if we take Nature Magic that is, but they still lose out on buffs such as Banners, stat boosts from class traits, spirits, and food buffs. In group settings, the buffs will for banners, spirits, and traits will be limited to and only towards player entities because over the prioritization it has on players over NPC’s due to the current cap of 5 people for the trait; same thing for raids if you were to double up on the trait, still will prioritize players of NPC’s. Being able to share food buffs would help with many things for pets; boon duration for more supportive roles (70% max boon duration on pet with NM), condi duration to help lengthen the condis for pets (would like to see the potential of Smokescale with longer bleeds on auto), and precision to shorten the gap for crit chance due to pet scaling with precision being different towards player scaling. Maybe healing power for Sylven Hound and Moas’?
There would obviously have to be changes with just boon sharing with the pet, but even so, Ranger’s have suffered from this since launch due to the pet being such a strong part of us, whether we like it or not.

Rangers have brought up the subject of making Fortifying Bond baseline many times, but as most suggestions taht are given to Anet, they are ignored. Regarding a Grandmaster becoming baseline, we have had the change, and thankfully we did; having to trait into a grandmaster to gain the actives of your signet was idiotic.
Thorns runes are better for Condi Ranger in raids. At 3 thorns stacks their dps is about the same. At 4/5 stacks thorns does higher dps.
I appreciate your response, but I am interested in the actual DPS comparisons, rather than just taking word for it.
Does anyone currently use Thorn Runes rather than the 4 Nightmare/2 Trapper set up for the condi Ranger build issued by [qT]? I am curious in the DPS comparisons, and don’t have the currency in-game yet to buy a full set of Thorn Runes to test it myself. I appreciate any feedback.
It was considered strong in PvP because of the zoo effect it would cause, so they removed the mobile aspect from spirits and gave us nothing to compensate for it ever since.
I woudn’t expect anet to introduce a new time weapon soon, or at all sadly. If they were to introduce it though, they would incoorperate a current weapon to fit its style; like how staff was originally magic based, but with Dare Devil it becomes used as a melee weapon. For a fist weapon, I would say they could use Focus/Focus as the weapon set for the Elite Specialization. My food for thought.
Oh how far we have come
35k or even 36k is possible now, with all buffs. QT ranger did 34.8k prepatch, I still didn’t test post hotfix, but even before (with the crossfire bug) I did 500~ more than prepatch.
Do you have a link possibly? Interested in what build they used for that test
34.9k before patch In my edited first post I described the gear/skills differences.
Most likely the gearing differences, but I did notice a DPS increase when I slotted in Viper’s Nest over Spike Trap.

Was interested in Condi Ranger’s new damage potential with the new shortbow buffs, so after they fixed the auto attack bug, I’ve finally gotten to it. The build I used during these tests is currently the one is this link. Making sure to clarify this since when most people who link builds tend to include infusions, but the infusions inside the link I pasted do represent my current gear; for anyone who might try to replicate this test and get lower numbers, assuming you don’t have infusions.
The 4 attachments include seperate testings; realistic buffs, realistic buffs + alacrity, realistic buffs +alactrity and Glyph of Empowerment, and all buffs.

Oh, don’t worry. I’m sure next year before the next expansion hits, they will be all open again to the feedback of the players, but only on expansion-specific content.
It’s just a shame that the work and tenacity they had leading up to the release of Heart of Thorns was not continued.
Then the one and only person to ever take our feedback will rise again.
“We don’t have the technology yet”
“It’s on the table”
Gonna call more domestic abuse towards Smokescale and Bristleback again
Since the new expansions seems to be set in the Crystal Desert, I can only really imagine getting a Hydra or a Siege Devourer. Wouldn’t mind the Siege Devourer because it may as well be your own personal battering ram and catapult. Not taking the environment into consideration, I would want a Dire Wolf; a revamped version of our current canine pet.
Went to go buy 23 Fragments of the Solid Ocean to start crafting new decorations for my Guild’s hall, but I ended up losing 3450 fractal relics because of this bug. Even though I chose to buy 23 Fragments of Solid Ocean, it only registered the exchange for only 1 Fragment rather than 23.
Could have a pet crab that creates a water field similar to the way how the F2 on Smokescale works.
Think it has to do with us proving that we are an asset to the team, since we used to be considered worthless before then. Take up the tasks that people usually wouldn’t want to do; like how I learned how to solo the thermal room in Thermanova Reactor fractal and how I could control Mai’s agro with a Bear before they changed the fractal entirely. That’s my take on it since most Ranger mains tend to be masochistic after all of the abuse Anet has given us.
The HoT pets are gated through their specific map locations based on the current Meta event progress, so yes. I believe Bristleback is an expection though.
The entirety of both wyverns is just a bug, anet pls fix
I posted a question regarding this trophy 3 months back, but Anet gave no reponse… Would love to craft this trophy.
Adding onto Justine’s post

Still waiting for that -1 button…
The reasoning they made the change was because of the zoo effect. Could simply change it to act as a aura, witha wisp floating around you to signify whch spirit is currently up, giving the mobility and getting rid of the zoo effect. But why would you make a simple change to make an entire set of utilities viable again after a year ¯\("/)/¯
I got mine first try, and so did everyone else in my raid team.
Are you sure you’re not doing something wrong?
Yeah, I lost the battle against rngesus
How can it be your 4th week at trying when the raid has been out for only 3(2 resets plus release) raid resets?
fat fingered my 4 key instead of 3 and went with it, fixed
Can you please make this a guaranteed drop rather than based on rng? It’s my 3rd week at trying for this item for my Envoy armor collection, and still haven’t looted it…. And why is a collection item rng based anyways…

Don’t know how many of you tried Blade and Soul, but I loved the Summoner class in it. It was the perfect mix of threat split between the player and the familiar that I truelly desired for the Ranger in Guild Wars. My mind would play mind games on me, I would look away from my cat familiar named Bucket and thought I would see my old vanilla Smokescale…. v_v
Sigh, I miss you Bucket

I think pets should get fixed.
Not removed. We already know pets are not going away and I personally prefer the attitude of fixing problems rather than replacing them.
Hopefully anet takes some feedback from Shadelag’s thread…
That you’re bringing up a dead subject
I do very hope that Anet actually takes this well summed up information that you have put together into careful consideration. +1
Thank you for the report on the Sabetha statue! This is now being investigated for a fix.
As for the Sloth and Abomination statues – we passed through some fixes today. If you visit your hall, you should find these can be safely removed now. =D
Thank you guys for your continued investment and support of the decoration content! <3 Your reports are greatly appreciated!
Any eta on the fix?
Was renovating our trophy area in my guild’s hall and found out the Gold Sabetha Trophy is bugged similar to the Gold Sloth Trophy a while back. Hopefully this will be patched soon since I am eager to craft the new trophies for Stronghold of the Faithful (still waiting on an answer for the Bandit Trio trophy as well).
Signet of the Wild has way too weak passive. I don’t remember it making a difference.
Would personally like to see the active and passive switched; Passive being 25% damage boost, and active being the Stability and a small burst of pulsing healing similar to Troll Ungeunt.
I miss my daze Druid build back in Season 1, I loved making my opponent play a turn based game.
Great thread, thanks. Good feedback from OP and the subsequent posts.
Haven’t had a chance to read every post yet, but I really think ANet needs to look at the pet abilities. So many of them are underwhelming with ridiculously long cooldowns.
Especially if pets are here to stay as a mandatory part of the class.
Is there a similar thread to this one but for pets – ideally somewhat current? Looked over a few pages but came up empty handed. Would love to take a look.
There are currently alot of issues involving the core pets that have already been listed, but one of the main issues is that all core pets have a difficulty sticking to their targets; in other words actually doing damage towards their targets if it is moving. This video demonstrates how increasing the auto attack distance from 130 to 250 range, as it is for the Polymorph Moa’s auto attack is, drastically improves the pets ability to pressure their targets. This simple change could open up alot of possibilities for the other pets outside of Smokescale and Bristleback, because it would make them actually function correctly.
Dire Wolf, a revamped version of the current canine pet; can be introduced by us finding Garm after the events of HoT and Rangers have an option to tame him after Eir’s death
There you go Anet, I gave you a story, make it happen
You know what I find rather ironic in all of this? There are a few on this forum who are just better players. I mean above average. You can trait the way you want, you play any class, all with equal skill. You are just better, you know what I mean?
And then you see these patch notes, say ok, yeah, I’m freaking upset and don’t agree. But you charge on. Now the rest of the world is saying YEAH,kittenDruids, take that man! And we are like, yeah – this totally blows. But you guys and gals, you know who you are, are like this won’t stop me, bring it on.
And the bodies start to hit the floor. Come on, sing it with me community.
Beaten why for (why for)
Can’t take much more
(Here we go, here we go, here we go)One – Nothing wrong with me
Two – Nothing wrong with me
Three – Nothing wrong with me
Four – Nothing wrong with meAt each cadence you are finishing a player off. Smiling the whole time with this tune in the back of your head. When the dust settles and the corpses that stayed behind refusing to acknowledge what happened (WTF I THOUGHT A.NET NURFED YOU GUYS) you put the icing on the cake and deploy siege or throw toilet paper on them.
Wish I was one of you all and I’m the first to say there are many many better players and I just get beat. It is why I play, the challenge. The fun. The friendly and respectful banter. Meet many a good in-game player across servers this way.
Arena Net – I don’t need you to balance the class based on player population perceptions. I need you to balance it around factual data you store in your databases. And if you balance that way then don’t be shy and present the data so we can say yeah, the data doesn’t lie…
Crawling in my skin
This orange will not peel
One day, baseline Fortifying Bond, one day….
Would like to see Poison Volley to be able to proc projectile finishers as well, would love to see extra 5 burning stacks come from it when I am sitting in either Bonfire or Flame Trap
kittening kitten, this thread again
