It’s really primitive to have 2 Phalanx Warrior and 2 Druids just so everyone will get the buffs. half of the raid group is concentrated in support. We Should get only 1 Chronomancer Tank, 1 Phalanx Warrior, 1 Druid and 7 DPSers/6 DPSers+1 Revenant.
Why other games can afford it and this game can’t.
This game has a great builds system but the raid support is pretty primitive. In World of Warcraft ya can buff 40 people.

unrealistic crap. what about encounter mechanics? how a ps warrior can do over 20k? how come necro is one of the lowest and still do better than others in raids?
an ele will never do over 35k vs boss. what about dodging, positioning, healing, changing targets, moving, phasing and etc? i’ll cut my veins if a warrior will do 20k dps ina boss raid.
again zis will lead to toxic.

I find it odd that I can change armor and weapon stats via the mystic forge and yet aqua breathers which are part of the armor I can’t. Why? Fix it Anet so we can get the desired stats we need on our aqua breather because it’s not a trinket but part of the helm in the underwater.

I thought about coming back to see what really happened to the dungeons and fractals. I’d understand dungeons became cheap now blabla no more gold grinder but then I saw the fractals being smashed to pieces even worse then before. So what do we have, raid?
Raids are for whoever bought HoT and I didn’t. So nothing to do for me and I’m not going to buy HoT just for 1 PvE content that I’m not sure is even fun playing it or gives ya hard work and good reward.
I suggest to rage quit this game already. 3 years has passed and they gave us no new dungeons or any significant fixes maybe added like 3 more fractal stages. All they did was improving the core system and now they even ruined the core system itself.
There’s nothing to do for non HoT players and there’s nothing to do for HoT players who ridiculously paid a lot of money for little content which he’ll suck the juice of it in few weeks and rage quit the game. They disappointed me with Elite Specialization, almost all of the elite specs are useless in pve, maybe some are playable in pvp and wvw but it’s just lame. They didn’t fix necro’s lack of support nor improve any of the group damage support to any of the classes, maybe engi and mesmer got few cool buffs that can help but not the others. So entire PvE not including raids are faceroll.
I still don’t know about raids. Also the prices for salving asc is really kittened.

Yeah I’ve been very tough on GW2 in the forums lately, but there is no contest between WOW pvp and GW2 pvp. For as many complaints as we have about GW2, it’s infinitely better than WOW. I think GW2’s pve easily crushes WOW’s, as well.

I’ll also say that as someone who played WOW since its first beta and for my first MMO, I have some pretty serious nostalgia about it. Blizzard doesn’t care as much about WOW as ANET cares about GW2. I can disagree with the devs on a lot of issues, but I can never say that these guys don’t care about Guild Wars. Their passion for this game is often electric, and it’s one of the things that keeps me around. It gives me hope that some of our big concerns WILL be fixed. But with WOW? I always felt like I was just another subscription.

And btw, going from GW2 >>> WOW was challenging for me because WOW’s combat system is so static. I frequently found myself mashing “v” to dodge incoming frostbolts and raging because I knew an attack was coming but just had to eat it.

GW2 PvE>WoW PvE, really?
What do we have? 5 man group freezing each tiny boss and nuke him in 5 seconds. That’s the most faceroll PvE ever. You can say core mechanics and combat is fun but the content and encounters and end pve game is really bad. dungeons and fractals are so boring they only the fully offensive builds and speed run the path in 5 minutes gg wp.
In WoW PvE end game you have at least tons of giant monsters and 10-25 people engaging those hard bosses with 3-5 phases and takes so much time and coordinating on every single boss and yet you tell me gw2>wow in pve.
I onestly quited gw2 and wow and I’d say wow pve is much better and i could at least race with others in dps and it was almost the same dps as everyone because it was about melee and range to have almsot same dps unlike gw2 everything is melee and nuke it while it’s frozen.

The community of gw2 is really delusional, I’m out of this forum don’t want to read more faceroll whining and faceroll opinions.

Great MMO, and great (different, not better) PVP – but you’d better have some time on your hands….. ….. ….. ….. ….. ….. ….. …..

So hard right? Play the easiest game and enjoy right? WoW’s biggest problem it’s a recycled game not about the skill level or gear or mastering the class. That’s what MMO’s are for to spend tons of time just to be good.

You chose the wrong forum to ask. GW2 forums will trash talk on wow and WoW forums will trash talk on GW2.
WoW PvP system is more advanced and more interesting options+maps.
GW2 is more enjoyable content but it’s too easy to master a class, jsut choose meta build and wreck most of the people in matchs unlike WoW which takes so much time to master a class and do actual rating and really win.

Nothing wins, ragequit both. Find new game.

Every dungeon I’ve been in has either players seeking zerker or 80 or expert. That I’m ok with getting kicked from, because that’s a party leaders personal preference but…

Whats the deal with not bothering to resurrect another player?
I was in a PUG and ALL 4 players (they don’t know each other) decided to just RUSH straight to the boss, trigger all traps, gather all aggro and leave me dead the entire run while they kill the boss, gather loot and leave.

This happens in at least 95% of the time in every single PUG I join, the worst is ARAH.

I honestly don’t see the appeal in PUG dungeons if this continues, its actually the only reason why I VoIP with my guild to get things done.

I sincerely hope ANET puts counter-measures against these kind of tactics and at least place a READY check before a BOSS fight or next event so kittens can learn to respect other players.

I returned the game recently prior to HoT, after being a day one player.

I decided to level up an alt – a little Asuran Elementalist. I’ve been leveling her up with a mixture of WvW, world PvE and dungeons.

Several times in the past week, I’ve been kicked from groups, before the first boss (sometimes even before I enter the dungeon), because I am not level 80. I’ve even been kicked from my own group (one I formed to get past the ‘80 exp zerker only 4k exp’ groups). Sometimes, I’ll join a group that doesn’t specify 80s only and be kicked for not being 80. In fact I just had a lovely conversation with a most polite soul who insisted that I get my main for Twilight Arbour or gtfo.

Now don’t get me wrong, players are entitled to set their own ‘filters’ on who they want to join their group. I avoid those ‘full 80 zerk’ parties like the plague anyway. But I can only get around this insistence on top level gear to play lower level content by creating my own groups and being very specific that everyone’s welcome and it’s not an 80 only run.

This ‘culture’ of making sub 80 players feel about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit is not going to endear it to new players. These welcome parties expect players to know everything.

Guild Wars 2 used to be well known for its community. It still has a great community, just not when it comes to dungeon runs. I half expect to see ‘Blue Moa run, 80 zerk 4k AP’ next. FFXIV beats this game hands down for genuinely helpful players. New players who come in after HoT are going to find experiences like these incredibly off-putting. Why has the game become like this?

So you say you’re getting kicked by the community and yet you tell us the community is great. You just slapped yourself. You see the community is bad to you. It’s either you go with the flow of elitism or play with your friends/all welcome/casuals/whatever. I see those kind of posts all the time getting kicked kicked and kicked blablabla.

so before I begin talking about my beta experiences lets set some ground rules. if you don’t have anything constructive to say, say nothing. example. “I think that this content was fun for me/the content could be changed in this way to make it better” is constructive dialog and “ok what do you expect? I think you are…” these are not constructive. moving on.

the negative impacts of my beta experiences on my opinion of HoT were as follows.

1. I didn’t really like Revenant. why? a lack of customizable utility skills allows for minimal variance between revenants. build variety should be treasured. if a class is added that class should follow the general guide lines of the other classes including their own selectable individual utility skills. the replacement of utility skills with locked spirit skills hurts the classes playability.

2. all of the content I have seen so far is intended for groups of 3 players and more. why I see this as bad. there are several players out there that want solo content/duo content.
I believe there to be many guilds out there that are husband and wife(like mine) or a couple of friends that play together only. I have been playing gw sense initial na release of gw1. I have enjoyed years of gameplay both in gw1 and gw2 with my wife. I have very little interest in dealing with elitists who want you to play their way only/feel they should have some sort of supervisory powers over you and your playtime/play style.
I have said before “the less I deal with other players the more I enjoy my playtime.” this has been proven to me repeatedly and for over 20 years of gaming. every time I hear a player say “oh but it isn’t like that” and I try and deal with those players it all eventually turns into the same aggravating overly dramatic negative playtime. this has been tested on 50+ games hundreds of times. (raids take a commander tag which one must purchase for hundreds of gold./guild missions and guild halls will only be able to be built/done with guilds working at 3 players+ at a time.) is it so wrong to want to play the game content silently and in my own way that I enjoy? raids should have been part of the lfg tool or their own icon/interface where players can select a raid and get matched to a party to do the raid.

3. the super Mario brothers syndrome. imo SaB was the worst content ever made for gw2. why? because of the low quality throwback graphics/SMB style play. I want new content shown to me in new ways. from my new expansion to my cutting edge game.
I was seriously discouraged to find out that the trampoline mushrooms(and they are even mushrooms) from the super Mario brothers series(that hasn’t entertained me sense I was 8 ) was apparently going to be a major part of the HoT maps(as they made up a large portion of the beta map/mastery system)

when I mention these things in game(only after being asked direct questions) I am told the same thing “why do you play mmos” the answer? because I enjoy the playtime I get with my wife and my friends(before they all quit gw2 rather then spend hundreds of gold regearing their mains after last feature pack: my friends that is). there are no high quality massive single player rpgs anymore as mmos have replaced them. while I understand the need for group content I feel that less social players who simply want to silently play their game are excluded when you require player counts. until anet either establishes a banned on first social violation(thus scaring everyone into playing nice) or gear inspects/build inspects being declared as forms of player harassment this will continue. I originally thought anet agreed that “every player and every build should be accepted every time” was their stated goal(and a good goal). but a lack of follow through on the zerk only toxicity has shown otherwise. it should be noted that I am willing and capable of enjoying group play by taking instructions that are content only related (what to do at a particular boss etc) without being told what I must run/equip.
I do not enjoy my average interaction with other players and so I find following in silence is the best course for me and groups.

I’m done with this post I had more to say but I see I am expressing it through a frustrated perspective which solves nothing. I can only hope I am judging the expansion on an incomplete system. otherwise I am discouraged that I spent 200$(two copies of ultimate. one for me and one for my wife) on content I can never play.

Thief is much more preferred in any fast run groups just because he supports and utilizes icebow better than the engi.

Berserker engie is weaker than Thief with ice bow, yes, but the difference isn’t noticeable to the human eye. A 9 second ice bow boss fight lasts 9.5 with berserker engie in place of thief, and thats being generous to the Thief. Whoop de doo.

I can’t wait for Ice Bow to be gone then we get to read all the threads about how useless Thief is as a class in PvE.

one criticism. Blasting with banners is a legit strategy.

Warhorn 5 > warhorn 4 > drop banner > banner 5 > banner 3. 3 blasts instead of 2, more swiftness for the group, and more importantly, unlike lb 3, banner 5 will never put you in combat, and you won’t accidentally get stuck without a greatsword.

Also, if there is a class which lacks blasts, such as mesmer/gaurd/necro you can drop the banner, and they can use the banner 5 blast instead. Give it to a necro for best results, as they don’t have much in terms of group swiftness either.

TLDR: if people know to carry the banners, banners can be more utility than just offensive buffs.

I think I did not clearly convey what I was talking about. 90% of the time, war should just stick to warhorn 5 and lonbow 3 for stealth blasts. I am referring to a more situational type of strategy. For example, say in arah p2, someone gets downed right on top of enemies, and the thief drops smokescreen/blackpowder and uses blinding powder to try to res. War can drop 3 blasts in that powder, giving vital time to res and avoid a wipe, and still have banner ready for boss.

why would someone die if everyone does right? even if dies drop a sr becase most of the blasts can damage and reveal so wasting banners on a dead person would be a waste just let him wp and run by himself.

You made me look it up http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Blast_finisher Only seeing 3 total on Necro, Putrid Mark which requires an enemy to trigger. Necrotic Traversal which is not bad bu 32s reuse not the greatest. And then the 20s 2 charge Bone Minions that blast at their location making them a pain to use for a black powder but possible. I was searching for the 4th but couldn’t find it, is there something I missed?

Look at utilities maybe. necro can summon 2 bone minions and the cd is very short, he can explode each one of ’em, each explosion is a blast and also a wurm with higher cd but you set it a bit before. you looked at the wrong page mate. You blast once with bone minion, 2nd bp once again, 3rd is wurm and 4th the bone minion is recharged already.

Also people have no idea what’s META. They all say meta while i see longbow/rifle warriors who doesn’t give might at all or some p/p thieves and also eles that have no idea how to use skills to skip to certain points like at aether fractal with lightning flash and cleansing. Also eles have no clue what is the glyph of elemental is for. People haven o idea how to switch weapons or don’t have or don’t care about team at all and drag ’em down, making the run longer and more fights.

For all who doesn’t know what meta is, it’s not about build if build it should be MEBA not META. META=Most Efficient Tactics Available which you’ll never see in a LFG pug run because they have no clue about Most Efficient Tactics Available, they all jsut range brainlessly and let the shaman get more than 3 add phase. FYI you can do shaman at 50 with 1 add phase and nuke his kitten and be over and don’t tell me it’s risky because it’s not if the entire group knows what to do.

In MMOs Guilds don’t run after players, it’s players run after guilds so a won’t get any response from a hardcore guild that will tell you “you’re welcome to join us etc”. You should look at posts.

I lead a guild and I’ve managed to get some pretty awesome players by doing this.

Makes them important and not just a member like a lot of these 200+ member guilds(not throwing shade at anybody, that’s the last thing I want to do but that statement is beyond silly :P)

I don’t know what kind of level of knowledge they know in the game but there are standards for each guild. Real hardcore guilds won’t chase after players and that’s true while casuals do chase after players and get a decent amount of players but I don’t look at quantity. If someone really wants to join a guild and be loyal he’ll seek a guild on his own and guilds that respect ‘emselves will not chase after players. That’s how with hardcore guilds.

If you want to be hardcore look at the guides of the following classes: Ele, Guard, Thief and Mesmer. Why not warrior? because warrior everyone can play and it’s easy but you also can watch warrior secrets. Then look at records/streams how to do a proper run and how to do a world record run. There are 3 types of running dungeons/fractals.
- Casual way from LFG tactics which i don’t recommend because they range a lot of bosses while all can be meleed.
- Meta(Most efficient tactics available) way for daily which LFG never does but only organized guilds.
- World record is a risky way which you need hours to sit on with a group just for the sake of the video to advertise the guild which i don’t recommend because it only meant to look good at the internet when you got the perfect video.

If you really want to join a hardcore guild you have to be hardcore before.

Hardcore PvE guilds don’t teach, they only want to add who are already experienced everything in PvE. And of course no one will wait till you raise your fractal level and get ascended gear. Most of ’em require at least 2-3 classes mastered. I suggest not to be hasty about hardcore guild to learn all advanced mechanics and watch streams/world records.

I played WotLK and Cata at WoW but quited because the other expansions were a joke. I’m not sure if you’d really play a lot in this game because TBC and Vanilla taste is different than GW2. Once you’ll master most of the classes and do dungeons in 5 minutes more or less you’ll find the PvE system is a joke and maybe you’ll put more effort in the future raids which no one knows the real difficulty yet.

Good players should be rewarded and bad players should be wiped without nothing cry, break their head a bit and come back to try again if not then they should uninstall the game. Players without skill should learn how to play instead whine “it’s hard nerf nerf plz”. People that don’t invest time or energy to play shouldn’t play from the start and to stop crying why it’s hard. The strong survive, simple nature in everywhere in this corrupted world and there’ll never be a balance between strong and weak.

People don’t like to take people that bring down the team by ranging and do no support+dps. The way you play is the weakest and the laziest one. You won’t find nice people if you keep dragging down your team with useless builds that may cause only wipes.
I prefer to suicide into the boss, do massive damage, dodge sometimes/depend on team support to reflect/block/blind and kill it asap then just range from far and AA without any brain which slows down the progress.

I feel like this thread is a troll to get attention.

What’s yer goal? Dungeon+fractals, open world, pvp, wvw?
If dungeons I’d suggest to solo dungeons first to understand how to play.
Via solos ya can improve. Ya won’t improve if people carry ya.
Only with hard playing people improve. Ya cna watch other people playing pve/pvp/wvw.

Good players with full ascended are in hc or semi hc guilds that will only play with their guild and won’t play outside. I’d say people with exotic would join you and still I don’t understand why cof 1+2 when 1+3 is way way faster. today people do only SE 1+3 not 1+2. Btw HotW is faster than coe and it’s around the 16-20 min average of all paths together (if the group knows what to do of course). Arah gives the most gold.
Also whoever contacts you post your build and gear so they’ll know with who they’re dealing with.

Warhorn is so useless is that I won’t even bother to carry 1 in my bag for might stacking and etc because no blasts and no nothing useful. I might stack with S/D /F and change back to staff before fights and I don’t see any use in that Warhorn. I thought “Dragon Hunter” was useless but zis? Tempest is a joke of a bad taste.

What facts, that SW is fun and dungeons require less skill and are boring?
You’re really some hardcore casual that locked in his own cave.
No facts in your words just lame opinions that no one cares about.
Try to do Arah Path 4 in 18 min at least, from Balthazar till the Blood stone (all 7 bosses) legit.

Of course anet won’t fix anything nor do anything for the competitive pve players because it’s a game for casuals who won’t bother learn their class and just run in open world. I gave him options you just state what is good in your opinion. I don’t care about your opinion. How can you say SW is less boring than dungeons, it’s a joke of a bad taste. Don’t state your opinions in forums just add suggestions like I did. Why you even argue about what’s fun or not.
