Same situation here, Is this normal?
That’s what I’m here to hopefully find out. Better safe than sorry.
Hi, I received a portal from the Silverwastes map and I also subscribed to the HoT newsletter, but there was no kind of confirmation email sent to my email inbox to confirm a link. I’d hate to miss out on the Beta testing date because of failed email confirmation and didn’t receive an email.
Thank you.

Because skyhammer and spirit watch are still valid map options. Those deserve an alt-f4
those are great maps!

i just thought it was better when it was a casual affair. log in, cut some trees, mine some nodes.. complete your daily wherever you are in the world. I think this was better than having a boss daily, where i have to look up the times and hope its soon. Or have to play a class i dont want to play in pvp. dailies before felt better and complimented the game style more. i would like to log in and play a bit, not look at a check list and follow a meta.
(edited by Drakortha.6974)
10 seconds in the pvp room and you’re crying? most of the time you don’t even need to look anyways
what do you mean? im not talking about pvp
dailies were better when i could complete them in any region of the world. But now i find myself looking at the check list and not even bothering. anyone else?
its a good sign to stop playing for the day and try again tomorrow. you might have some better luck, and better not to frustrate yourself because of one bad streak.
Thank you.

Well the best we can do then is keep these threads going now and then so that Anet hears us loud and clear
I play the same game as you and I have my own experience with it, I’m allowed an opinion without it being called nonsense. It makes a lot of sense to me.. after all I’m sure there’s some out there who agree with me. Some people in my guild do, one of them is a Mesmer!
(edited by Drakortha.6974)
I posted this suggestion before but I believe it’s worth a repost, as this is an addition the game will benefit from.
let us see buffs/conditions so we know whats up with our pets yo
If this isn’t one of the most narrow-minded perspectives…
My perspective is they vanish a lot and throw a lot of fluff on my screen and make a joke of the games targeting system, which works very well in any other fight. I don’t know what more you want.
Guild Wars 2 has a targeting system that works. I just happen to think the Mesmer downplays it quite a bit and I think it gives them a good advantage, especially against newer players. Thief also. I don’t think a classes strengths should be based on how well it downplays the game itself.. that might be bad design, but hey, I’m no game designer.
longbow – single target damage. POINTLESS
shortbow – single target damage. POINTLESS
Axe – bounces multiple targets, kitten damage. POINTLESS
Greatsword – single target damage, slow. POINTLESS
Sword – single target damage. target dodges, goes invisible. POINTLESS
Entangle – Thief and Mesmers completely immune to my control. POINTLESS
Pet. POINTLESSAre you honestly going to post all this in your OP and then claim…
What I’m saying there is that my weapons are useless at dealing damage when an enemy is untargeted, as with most weapons in the game. I didn’t explain that well enough. Invisibility and Untargeting is a counter to pretty much all of my weapons. And with the thief, I think it’s a bit too accessible for them.
You know how a lot of thieves come across as really confident? That’s because they KNOW how well they can abuse invisibility so they feel kind of invinsible at times (a good thief actually can be). Makes beating them all the sweeter, though. Burning up downed thieves with my torch is a hobby of mine
(edited by Drakortha.6974)
And I find it obnoxiously annoying that Rangers can cover the whole midpoint of Legacy and hit half the map from the top of clocktower in Kyhlo with their 1.5k+ range. Of course if you don’t have to expend effort it’s not really a challenge, now is it?
I prefer the shortbow myself. Can’t say the same with mesmer, as they all pick the same strategy and every fight with them feels the same
(edited by Drakortha.6974)
If you’re not saying they’re OP or broken, then what are you saying?
I’m saying they are an obnoxiously annoying class to be up against. So much worse when there’s 2 of them, on mid point with the rest of their team. You may as well be blind.
I might argue they are broken, simply because of the untargeting issue.. I always thought that was a very cheap mechanic to go up against. Same with Rangers or Thieves, if they abuse invisibility too much but at least they don’t have clones on top of that, making a simple touch of my “tab” button all I need to get them in my sights again. Invisibility on Thief should have had some better balancing.. such as not being able to deal damage while in stealth.
Overall though, I am arguing the amount of “Fun” this is, and no amount of L2P will change that. I don’t find fighting mesmers fun, more an inconvenience. I want to say, " go away fly, bother someone else"
(edited by Drakortha.6974)
The amount of times I see “L2P” and “Scrub” in your responses leads me to believe we have some real PVP pro’s in here..
Seriously though.. good job completely missing the point of the thread..
Not a L2P issue.. or an OP issue. I know how to fight and beat a mesmer.. my complaint is they are a pain in the bum to fight.. especially in group fights.. you can’t argue with that

I would venture a guess that most players can figure out that there are things they can do to improve PvP matchups outside of screaming for their enemies to just be deleted.
I think the enemy already got deleted.. oh there he is again.. he had just gone invisible
(edited by Drakortha.6974)
Then it’s a flawed system and probably needs to be reworked from the ground up to start with. Remember stealth in Halo? it was more like a camo, not like this pseudo invisibility hack. The entire style of it (complete vanishing, no tells, no signs) feels like a 4th wall trick.
And you say if i could keep target through stealth, then what is the point of stealth? well, for one, they completely avoid damage. That’s a pretty powerful thing to have and it’s abused already to no end. The untargeting is just adding more insult to injury..
Really, REALLY hoping they make some kind of change to this system to restore some fairness to these encounters.
A big sign the size of your house in flashing neon lights:
L2P…L2P…L2P
Seriously this is not an issue outside of the lowest tiers lol.
If L2P is the best argument you can come up with I don’t know why i bother responding to you.
And you say “lowest tiers”, like it doesnt even matter. But what you fail to realize is 99% of the pvp player-base is low tier. So you’re effectively telling me, “oh, this only effects most of the playerbase so it doesn’t matter.”
Maybe invisibility should require a channeling animation. I would call that a lot more fair and is less likely to be abused mid fight. Could even interrupt it.. just give us something so we can counter it.. not “Sic em”, which at best was a lazy attempt at creating a counter to invisiblity.
(edited by Drakortha.6974)
Seriously, though, Sic ‘Em is a pretty good skill and it absolutely SHREDS stealth users if you wait a bit to make sure they’re low on dodges / poorly positioned.
Also the pet buff is pretty significant so it’s not a total waste even if your don’t face people you want Revealed.
wasting a skill slot simply to stop invisibility for 6 seconds? seems like a waste, when you ask me to build my character based on a broken, unfair class i occasionally encounter. My main problem doesn’t lie with invisibility itself but the untargeting it does. The big advantage THEY have, is they have the luxury of keeping me targeted throughout an entire fight. Meanwhile im spending half the fight retargetting them over and over again, before i can even do a shred of damage…. it’s a complete waste of my time and skills and they are only winning those fights because im wasting half my skills on air (thanks 400 ping and 1 second delay on skills). it’s got to the point where as soon as I see “mesmer” above their heads i turn around and go the other direction.. hope to find a more interesting fight on another cap.
Here’s my solution Anet; When I target my enemy at the beginning of a fight, please KEEP them targeted. I should be focusing my attention on my skills and the combat, not the UI.. seriously, these fights feel more like im fighting the game rather than the player. That to me screams BROKEN. Shame on you if you’re playing it.
Rapid fire already tracks them through stealth duder. Also if you could always keep target through stealth that would kinda defeat the whole point.

so to them it’s like: doing damage > doing damage > doing damage > doing damage >
for me it’s: doing damage > retarget > doing damage > retarget > doing damage…
get it? it’s too slow, it feels like a huge chore, every time. He’s probably slowing my attack rate by 50% and all he is doing is activating a few skills. oh, but i get 6 seconds of sic em. please..

no only real, fair, balanced classes. warrior, guardian, ranger, engineer..
Please create yourself an “unfair” Mesmer and get yourself a Shatterbuild. We can search ourselves an empty server, then you can pit your Mesmer against my LB Pew Pew Ranger. I Gurantee you that you willl lose every single duel
no i don’t wear womens clothing, thank you..
Remove necros, Remove rangers, remove mesmers….
If you start removing classes whats the point?
Learn to play. Thats all there is too it.
necros are fine.. rangers are fine. warriors, guardians, even eles. i had good fights against all these classes. Everyone complains about turret engies but seriously i never called bullkitten on an engineer that beat me. stop hating engineers and start hating mesmers because this spam class is a nuisance through and through for anybody.. a fun class idea turned inconvenient and frustrating. visual effects that fill up your entire screen for example..
I would really like to know if OP actually has a Mesmer amongst his Characters…
no only real, fair, balanced classes. warrior, guardian, ranger, engineer..
(edited by Drakortha.6974)
conquest point zerging is bad enough without mesmers thrown into the mix. It’s simply way too much on the screen for most players to keep up with including myself and it renders the entire fight useless. i’ve got to the point of just throwing my arms up when this starts happening. how can i sustain damage on a single target that keeps moving, teleporting, going invisible, creating clones, and worst of all untargeting themselves…

I just finished my first ever spvp match of unranked using a lvl 1 thief i made. here’s the result. i didn’t even read all the tooltips for the skills, or even did my amulet/traits. simply used my lvl 2 reward dagger and bought a shortbow from the mists vendor.

gg everyone.
But where is the video?!! We want meat not bones, you might be suited for thief if you +1 fights easily.
sorry for no video, i couldnt figure out which skill gave me stealth so i was pretty much just running around stabbing enemies in the back with my dagger, and using the elite which turns them to stone. group fights i was spamming the explosive shot which honestly felt miles better than ranger aoe.
my first spvp match as thief. didn’t trait, amulet, or spend any deal of time looking at skills. just used my dagger from lvl 2 reward and bought shortbow from vendor.

my kills felt easy and effortless really, compared to what im used to on my ranger.

If you have trouble fighting them with those weapons, then try to fight mock duels with friends on those classes because you SHOULD be able to win against them if played well.
I do win against these classes pretty often.
thank you for the link, i saw this a while ago. it’s a good video
If you can’t beat them, join them.
But if he joins them, he won’t be able to beat anything. Haha
I mean seriously I don’t have any problems beating these 2 classes.
Thief and Mesmer are hard classes to master. Need to be at a high level to be effective.
cheap is still cheap.
I don’t know if this is a troll post or serious, but i’ll bite… You’re a ranger, try playing something else than pewpew lb and you will see that it was not thief and mesmer that was cheating and hacking but you sucked bad for playing that obnoxious one-trick pony build.
and going invisible or spamming your enemy isn’t a one-trick pony? both those classes do this, every time, without a doubt. fighting every thief is the same, fighting every mesmer is the same.
but you’re talking about a single weapon on my class.. i’m talking about those 2 classes, as a whole. Their total existence and what their purpose in the game is. Shortbow, sword, torch, greatsword mind you.
(edited by Drakortha.6974)
In ArenaNets bold attempt at appeasing as broad a range audience as they could, they invented the thief and mesmers classes for players who enjoy installing hacks and cheats in their game. Now these players no longer need to search out cheats and hacks for their game to satisfy their cheap craving, as the game provides this gameplay for them, which also makes moderating the game that much easier for Anet. Way to cut out the middle man, nice job!
these 2 classes both include the tools necessary to cheat, troll, and fleece your way to victory, every time.
Special abilities of the thief include;
vanishing without a trace whenever and wherever you want.
teleporting long distances across the map, escaping any face off ever
knifing enemies while invisible.
one hit kills
super fast attack speeds and movement, while other players have obvious tells & slow movement. ++ if you’re an asura.
finishing your enemies while completely invisible, rendering all 4 of their downed abilities useless.
troll your enemies with your special “woosh woosh, stab stab” sound.
Special abilities of mesmer;
your own personal zerg!
troll your enemies with an absurd amount of visual effects, effectively “blinding” the player from their own interface.
teleporting across the map at any time
going invisible during fights at a whim. teleporting up to areas your foes cannot reach
annoying “whirrr whirrr, whirrr whirrr” sounds included!

sPvP requires meta play or coordinated group play. Don’t want to do either? Then sadly GW2 pvp isnt for you, it relies too heavily on meta play.
certainly feels that way. thank you.
I really tried but it looks like i’m retiring you once again and going back to PVE. You just rarely feel balanced or fair and it’s getting far too stressful for me to play and enjoy you. Maybe it’s my fault because i never followed meta, just played my own builds. But to be punished for playing the way i want to play doesn’t sit well with me and i don’t wish to change my mind about it.
goodbye for now.
(edited by Drakortha.6974)
every matchup this morning has had up to 4 thieves in the game. please this is ruining class diversity and getting tired of fighting thief class over and over.
thank you, now i know your weakness.

I felt the need to make this thread because it’s a problem i’m experiencing a lot personally and find it plagues a lot of otherwise fair balanced matches.
We all know how it goes. You’re fighting 1 or 2 enemies, you manage to put them in a down stated with just a sliver of health. But then, your team mate who’s 10 ft away, out of the fight, dies. Your adversaries (or adversary) both spring back into action and finish you off.
Who thought this would be a fair mechanic in teamplay, idk. It feels like something that works on 1vs1 just fine but in the bigger scuffles it just smells when it happens. Down down down, you’re putting enemies down, but it’s just too easy for all your work to be for nothing (and your long kitten cooldowns).
My solution; why not set a parameter where in multi-foe battles, auto resurrect only occurs when the LAST enemy foe goes down? It could be set to a radius, say 300-600, or something like that.
This makes much more sense in competitive play. If a player goes down, team player or not, it shouldn’t turn the tide SO much when they finally die. Especially when it can take then up to 30 seconds to finally bleed out. That can be an entire 30 seconds of you fighting and downing your enemy, all to waste. I always try my best to rez my team mates but when i fail to, i feel it’s just too consequential. If I successfully down my foe but my team mate dies, so be it. Please allow me to have my well earned victory.
Thank you.
I put together an example image.
Thinking with the bestmastery traits this would be useful as we can see them in action, such as stability training and beastmasters bond.
I think someone had to do it :-)

At the end of a match the popup doesnt remain nearly long enough to see how many kills I got, points, etc. Is there a way I can bring this menu back up, maybe in the lobby?
Also, if you are new to the game you can delete all your characters and pick another server for free.
At least we have that. Doesn’t work so well if both parties have fully geared characters though.
Looks like you have a bit of lack of communication with your friends.
When they are too spread across the world you need to get all the info before doing anything. Also that issue only happens if players are in NA and EU severs, if both are in the same area doesn’t matter witch server you pick, unless you plan to do WvW.
Among all that, why you are the one that need to keep transferring? Ask your friend to transfer to your server.
The game has been out for 3 years, my friends are already playing the game and have already picked servers. How am I supposed to communicate anything, when it’s already a 50% chance they’ll be on EU or US?
My point is I can’t play with my friends and I won’t be able to unless one of us coughs up $30. This to me just doesn’t make any sense.
What is the excuse for not having a guest feature between EU and US?
It’s a game that encourages teamwork and playing together, having friends and having community. It makes no sense that they’d make it this tough to be able to go around and play with all of your friends.
My brother proposed I just buy another copy of the game for $40 and just have one account for EU and another for US… in the long term it’s cheaper. What a joke..
(edited by Drakortha.6974)
my characters are so good i can’t show them, at risk of someone copying.
Because they are either on US or EU and are behind a $30 pay wall. Looking back over the last 3 years I have server transfered at least 4 times to play with a friend who had became active, or a new friend, and it just happened again tonight with my brother.
We planned to start new characters together, and tonight we meet on skype, chat as we create our characters and then BAM, he is on the wrong server, him being on US and me being on EU. I have the money, but i refuse to move again based on the principle of it. There is an expansion just around the corner, i would much rather save my money for that. But then, how can I play with my brother, or my friends? Someone has to bite the bullet. This just doesn’t seem fair to me at all.
It’s made even worse when the price for server transfer is 1800 gems. But I can only buy 800, 1600, or 3500 gems? I mean really? Tell me why I have to buy more gems than I need.
This is not “hate speech”, as a moderator had stated and locked my thread the last time this happened.
I thought one of the selling points of this game was being able to turn it off for a couple weeks/months and when you returned you wouldn’t be falling behind or have some kind of consequence. No pressure to log in, you know? Seems like most of you have lost your way…
Just wish i could go in and look at Guild Wars 2 stuff, even if i don’t have the money to buy it. I love GW2, and it would just make me feel fuzzy inside :-)
http://i.imgur.com/JQxfS0k.jpg
So at my local EB game store I can not find a single trace of Guild Wars 2. No posters, no books, guides, merchandise, or even the game itself out on display. However I see other MMO’s like Wildstar, ESO, and of course, WoW, which even has it’s own section for merchandise, art books, guides and the like.
Maybe retail game stores don’t like Guild Wars and Arenanet for some reason? Or is this game just generally unheard of to the general population, and doesn’t sell?
Thank you everyone for your responses :-)
