Play the Vanilla for now to see if you enjoy it, Vanilla is my favorite part of gw 2 so far xD
If they did this it would be the final nail in their coffin, the game is in a bad state right now but they can still come back from it, going for a patron membership would kill it. Many play because it is does not cater to a certain group of people because they pay monthly.
And those kinds of people are very toxic and push people away from playing a game.
Anet needs to knuckle down and work on their game to bring it back to the standards they used to produce, not find a way to squeeze more money out of us.
Only problem with removing failed event rewards is that even more people will try to cram onto a single map to finish only one version of a meta.
The true problem is the mega servers and they really need to sort that out.
Sadly you can’t get everything since some fractal achievements are now gone and the ls1 achievements are not achievable unless you took part. Also if you are not a pro player with a static then you may not get the raid achievements either.
I used to enjoy coming onto the game and working on my slayer and weapon master achievements but the game has taken a bad turn and now I only log in once in a while.
The chance of them doing this was thrown out the window when they went f2p partially, f2p games usually flood their cash shop with as much as possible (look how many outfits and new weapons have been added).
The raid needs a story mode option, like dungeons, so that people can practice mechanics in this mode and allow them to get the story. Then have to current content as the non story version, with all the rewards.
This would stop a some of the arguements and some of their players leaving.
If we wanted raids, we would have played something raid focused, if we wanted esports, we would go to a moba.
If we wanted to play something casual with a good lore then this was the game……was.
The bandit and ley line pve things are just a joke, just something slapped together to hopefully keep people interested until ls 3. HoT was Anet spraining their ankle and their efforts after are just a shot in their foot. They can still recover but they won’t be having the player base they had.
Their increased cashshop is because they are essentially f2p now and all of those games fo overboard with that content.
Only problem I have with raids os that any groups capable of doing the raids only take people who have also finished the raids.
I love doing challenging content, I played Ff 14 and had completed all their raids and their extreme mode trials apart from 1 or 2 of the newer ones. So I am probably the target audience for this content, except I am still excluded even in raid guilds as I asked and offered my character for raids (full asc gear rev but I have every class so I could have rolled as anything) and they just talking about how good they are at raids.
The problem with raids isn’t the raid itself but the community you seem to see doing it. It isn’t the community as a whole but the ones you see the most of.
Anyone on Ring of fire server that does raids ley me know as me and my partner are prepared for them and have been for a while just looking for a group capable of doing them xD
Well I think when they started making HoT alot of the hard core players where clamoring for harder content as gw 2 was a casual game and not focusing on the things most mmo games do which is focus on end game and everything before that is just to get you to the end game. So they listened to these people though they are actually the minority so made HoT how it is, problem is that it may have bee more challenging but it was short so they finished it almost immediately.
I would say that that HoT is targeted at more hard core players because try thought that is what the majority wanted, but clearly that wasn’t the case xD
Biggest issue I see now for them is that they made the best part of the game (Vanilla) free so people won’t buy HoT so they will do what all f2p games do and focus all their efforts on cashshop and let the game slip even further into the abyss.
Other games can manage to bring out raids, dungeons, pvp and pve content simultaneously so I don’t know why Anet can’t.
Well Everyone wants to go to Elona or Cantha so it will be underground or the deep sea.
As I have said before and as alot of people have said just have at least 1 confirmed scrap with the chance to get more. Maybe reduce the amount of scraps needed to make a ticket because some of the better weapons cost about 5 tickets which even with this confirms idea would mea buying 50 keys for a single weapons so maybe also have he option to just buy the weapons outright.
Buying all the weapons outright would naturally cost more but it is another way to earn money from us plus they would get some definite sales.
More like Outfit wars since they see to love slapping new stuff onto the cs as frequently as possible.
But nto the main topic expect either July for either the start of ls3 or for more information from Anet about it.
Logged on a few days ago into LA, ALOT of people but no one speaking at all for a good 30 minutes, if you logged in before HoT or shortly after you would gave had many random people talking to each other about anything but now.
I believe that there are fewer players , it may look crowded but some of this will be due to newer players trying the game but who won’t stay long.

What I want is some battlemage type armour for light, no dress and a little bit of armour on their attire.
because it makes people only want to do the meta on the one map and if they can’t get in they won’t do it, even if the map they are on has enough people.
Even on the full maps people tend to just auto attack bosses instead of using cc when needed or if they die just wait it out because they dealt enough damage to get the gold.
I found that HoT pushed me towards more dps focused gear and less survivable gear. Make sure your gears is exotic is my first piece of advice, second I would suggest playing around with builds as things that worked for me in central failed hard in HoT and try out different weapon combos that you can get to work well.
Don’t forget that if you feel your armour is right but you are still a bit off look around to fine tuning it with the right type of runes.

The elite spec certainly has made this pretty dire.
And an example of this would be Scrapper, Necro combo as this combo can destroy a group, especially since they can just place down aoe skills on the capture point and wait or in wvw I have seen 3 people face a single scrapper and the scrapper still won.
if they will not do a big rework then they need to at least remove it from things like the League and ranked games.
We have had alot of people leave since the release of HoT add that to not much content being released people are just doing other things whilst they wait for LS 3.
They are releasing some bits of content but that is only the odd raid wing or pvp league seasons but as the game is more pve oriented (and raids targeting a very small percentage) there is not alot new to do so people are just waiting for LS 3.
HoT did alot of damage, brought in some new stuff, but doesn’t change the fact that it has hit them pretty hard, they are pulling their teams together to pick the pace up with LS 3 but the problem is that it won’t be meaty content that they need right now and when it is finished with they have a dilemma, do they rush the next expansion and give us whatever they can pull together or do they take their time and bring something with more in it than HoT did.
One problem I think is that they seem to want to fit everything into the Tyrian continent when, if you have played GW 1, they have the whole of Cantha and Elona yet seem to not want to do anything with these areas.
I wish they would have brought HoT out in chunks, actually make each map 3 individual maps not just layers on top of each other a brought out 3 every month.
So On release you would have had VB upper, mid and lower, 3 months later AB and same again etc. It would have meant we could have gotten more out of each area plus the core content of HoT would have lasted 12 months, Just and idea I had when playing through the maps xD
So once we see what LS 3 is like we will have a better sence of how the game is doing.
Alot of their legendary weapons just look like joke weapons xD
But for me it has to be the greatsword, because everyone has it and if you see it everyplace you go then it just feels like a common thing xD
Easier gold plus less players than before caused it to go up xD
I used to buy bl keys but after a while of poor ticket scrap drops I stopped, I bought almost every outfit and glider but as I saw them putting more and more into the cash shop and less into the game I stopped with that as well.
The amount of cash shop stuff been brought out since HoT is close to double that compared to what the HoT expansion actually gave you.

But in all seriousness they need to sort separate pvp,wvw and pve as any time they do a nerf or buff up of a class it is always based on pvp feedback even when they say it isn’t, I wish they would stop going hand and knee catering to the Esports crown when their main draw is story driven content, if this game and gw 1 where not story driven I would not have taken a second glance at it.
Make GW great again, go back to giving quality story content and gameplay, not Esports favouritism otherwise you will more than likely lose a bigger chunk of your playerbase again at a time when you will need them to purchase the next expansion
And yet again more RNG cash shop skins…I am tired of this and will not be buying these, i only bought the Spectral greatsword because it looked like frostmourne but sadly the flame colour can’t be changed >_<
They are slowly slipping down the path that alot of F2P games go where they constantly make cash shop stuff because not enough money is coming in but it is because you have so much cash shop stuff and RNG based that people spend less.
I know making outfits is easier and quicker but with HoT we only got 2 sets of complete armour, which only parts of them look good, and about 6 weapon sets was it, also the unique armour bits and weapon skins. But now you have produced more HoT Cash Shop outfits and weapon skins than what was provided in the Expansion and that is just a big no as the moment I see that I start to think that they have given up on making quality stuff and just milk its community for what they can.
If you want your customers to spend more on you then make a game they WANT to spend on not where they feel they have to or they will not get this outfit or skin again.
Yep Anet loves their RNG, and it is so much more frustrating getting high end equipment in this than in other MMO games I play xD
The real issue is the Mega Server. Where only one map is doing the Meta and if you are not on it 5-10 mins before the beginning then there is a good chance you may not do the meta at all.
I had my Warrior using Soldier stats and with a Sword, Shield and a longbow. I had to change this for HoT because they mashed through my health quite quickly with my damage obviously not being my best asset which meant I had to go dps gear.
Now from what I know most people go dps gear, how is it getting people to try new things when the content kinda twisted my arm into doing what everyone else was doing? Now my Warrior (Now a Berserker) gets through but I used to love the character but HoT has constantly thrown things at me that have made me not enjoy it.
It also feels like they did a rush job on the story just so they could work on this Meta content, There are so many plot paths that are now gone and some of them I had high hopes for (Especially Faolin and the Nightmare court) now I couldn’t care less about the Nightmare court.
Sorry went on about story and this is not the place for that so will just leave with this:
HoT has been a rocky road to begin with and the nerfed classes or buffed up rewards are only covering the problem not fixing it.
Problem is alot of guild members stopped playing in guilds because they did not like HoT or they finished it once and found it to much of a drag to do over and over for the foreseeable future.
I am part of an alliance of guilds who come together to do events…..but since HoT they have done less and less stuff, now they struggle to find enough people to come together to do a single big meta xD
And gw 2 is the game you are supposed to play if you want to play casually, not the one you avoid because that is no longer the case.
And for the new maps if you do not join the 1 map that is doing the meta you either have to scrape together enough stragglers to maybe pass the event or just wait until next meta.
HoT does gave some good points and can be enjoyable but you do have to put up with some unsavory parts and some unsavory people now that the vanilla is free.
I was in Orr doing some stuff and this guy just tried to invite me to his party and started his story without having the time to even click accept or decline, he didn’t even say a word and as I was busy declined and then they just start hurling abuse at me xD even though he did not have the decency to ask for help just expected it.
This is only a problem in pvp and Anets idea was to add a new playstyle but due to not being able to balance it right created an over powered spec.
In wvw numbers and siege win at the end of the day.
It wouldn’t really make much of a difference in HoT since everything is done in big groups.
I would like it if this caused people to spread out to do more than what they copy and paste from meta builds and actually do some personal testing of their class xD
Please no defined roles >_< One of gw 2 main points is that their are no roles, what they need to do is balance out the new specs so that they are more in line with everything else and more of an option than an must have if you want to do well in the game.
When they said new classes I think they did mean more elite specs xD
As Dervish has magic it would more than likely be that guardian would get Dervish and warrior would get paragon xD
Engi is a spiritual successor to ritualist.
I would like to see a spellblade for ele, give them a sword and have their attunement surround the sword.
And thief with a rifle like a sniper xD as their ranged weapons have short range right now and could do with a long range weapon.
Ranger could get beast master or something like that, less damage than regular pet but having 2 or 3of them with the scepter working like a whip.
I would love Mesmer to be given instruments and have a bard type class xD

It is an interesting idea and would promote more varied teams to do things but it is very unlikely, I mean look how well raids went with teams wanting specific classes built in specific ways and if you don’t build your class that way then you are more than likely going to get kicked because it will not allow you to kill a boss in less time.
Exploration and being able to take great screenshots of scenery xD not gotten many good ones in HoT as I do not find the scenery that great but alpine boarderlands is back so I will enjoy going around it again ????
Problem with raids and what makes them less accessible is that they are tailored towards big groups that play together already, Their target audience for this are good players who are looking for challenging content, I fall into that category along with my girlfriend but even then we still are kept out because we have no group so we join a raid guild, not once have we done a raid with them, they either do it respond when we ask about doing a raid, fill up the party before asking in guild or just sit around showing off that they beat the raids 10 or more times.
In ff14 they can manage to have a 24 man pug clear raids which requires alot more communication and synchronising whereas gw 2 can’t do it with 10 on a more regular basis.
Atm I have just stopped playing gw2 apart from doing my dailies since I do not have high hopes of raiding on this game and as I have done everything else.
The new maps had an interesting idea with needing groups of people to work together but due to people filling up just a single map and those who are not quick enough or where their already being left out makes it difficult to enjoy.
And if you do not make it onto the map you either spend the next 30 minutes trying to join or scraping together barely enough people to give yourself a slim chance at winning.
They really need to add in some kind of training for cc, as it is a useful tool to use especially with their new content as right now people either cc too much in places like ds and make it longer to kill the mouth or not enough so it takes longer to kill the matriarch.
And if on a game you are constantly told on certain things to do something and do not know what it is you would look it up since it is not just being said once but everytime the events are on.
Another thing that adds to this problem is that people will just copy and paste a meta build because it is rated good and follow it blindly and have no idea what other utility and weapon skills they have and if it can be used to cc or not.
All the level 80 boost does gives you a level 80 char and some exotic gear and other stuff.
They still need to farm materials because they can’t craft asc pr lege gear, got no gold to buy them and they do not understand how their class can play.
They still need to farm fractals to do higher level ones as well plus to get collections for HoT stuff they need to do heart quests so they are still forced to go through that.
And let us say they try to do a raid and only have the one class and the raid needs a different class well then that new player is out of the raid because 1 single level 80 and same for fractals possibly.
They will still need Tyria mastery but due to low ar will not be able to do more frequented fractals because insta kill from agony so has to do core tyria content for exp.
It will not kill the game and has not lessened Central Tyria, they still need to do alot of work to get to the same place as those who have played for longer, if you think hitting 80 for free with a single char is going to ruin it you clearly have not done much.
I have taken part in ls1, gained many achievement points and some can no longer be gained again, gained outfits and skins no longer available, taken part of no longer available events I also didn’t have to pay for ls2 and have stock piles of materials.
I got huntsman from 120ish to 460 in about 2ish hours, because I had all those materials gathered and paid for because I had alot of gold.
And they need to get all off the weapon and armour skins ao they may be hitting 80 but they have alot to do and have missed out quite alot.

Apparently they said before HoT release that they intend to sell the expansion before the most recent and all others previous under one single price tag, so when expac 2 is out free players will have access to HoT.
I have not seen them change this statement since HoT release.
And every time a meta event is on only about 1 map is successful because everyone crams onto most maps and if you don’t then you gotta wait until next meta.
So basically they are forcing paying customers to keep a game running so free players can pls everything apart from the most recent expac if they wait till next expac is out.
Another brilliant move by Anet, alienate your playerbase in favour of free players who will not pay a dime because they are getting say 70% of gw 2 for free.
If they do that then alot of their core players (who currently fund them by buying expansions) would just leave until 2 – 3 Expac have gone by and come back to get them for free.
Fun and even…..for those who are legendary quality and play together xD
I have seen and heard people who team up and get a huge loss streak.
It is hard to find a good group of randomers who can win streak long enough to div up.
And there is a higher chance of playing against a full guild team if you go in as a team.
I never got to do either of them and really want to take part in it.
I missed out on a majority of ls 1 and this as well so I really really want to do it.
Alot of people want it so why not bring it back? Would stop some of the complaints for a while at least xD
Used to just complete achievements and do daily stuff but now
Log in, take daily chest, do fractals low – mid level fractals, one or two other things and log out. I finished my asc armour and sword & Shield so taking a break before I continue with Nevermore. Then look through the forums
Once I get a computer or laptop and play with my girlfriend again I will do some more but for now that is it.
The old system for legendary weapons was either get lucky or buy your way into the top.
People didn’t like this because some where getting pre and legendary weapons in their first week of playing and others went since game start and still not getting a drop of either.
Alot of the people I have seen doing content with legendary weapons just have no idea what they are doing or die in a hit or 2 forcing others to carry them, because they either converted gems to gold and bought it or got lucky.
The idea to craft them is a good idea but just needs tweaking and reductions to make the cost of crafting and the cost of buying out right the same or by making buying it out right from the tp a little more than cost to craft.
Good thing I don’t care about Legendary weapons xD
Core game had lot of content and is still the most enjoyable part of gw 2.
Map size: Core > HoT
Storyline: Core > HoT
Memorable characters: Core > HoT
Value for money: Core > HoT
Funny thing is some people paid more for HoT and gt less than they did when they bought the Core game.
Pus new players can play the best part of gw 2 for free as HoT is just a flop in most regards with only a handful of benefits.

Ok so people bought HoT and then quit. Which means no cash shop items being bought, less players in general resulting in dead read making it a less fun social game (essential in an mmo) which causes people to go to a fuller game, people don’t buy Te expansion because they can play original for free and do not forget the negative reviews and multiple forum posts saying the game is not great anymore.
They may buy the expansion and get the quick cash but they lose out on a long term spender when they need the money later down the road.
And if it took all the HoT sales to pay for the next expansion and even 1/5 of your audience quits then they can not afford to make a better expansion next time without upping cash shop prices and causing more people to stop buying cash shop items because they think it costa too much.
Look at gliders, used to be 400 gems with exceptions on packs and now they have gone up 100.
