I would like more things unique for each race. But that seems unlikely since now the racial hair styles are just being swapped around.
That is generally how HoT worked, put limited skins into the game, hide them behind low drops and meta to get people to constantly do the meta.
Thing is the most rare skins feel common because everyone uses them xD
Like everyone with Twilight.
There are many “easy builds” they are all tied to the elite specs because they made them op and simple to use.
What they need is to separate pvp and pve skills so they can put in the balances that pvp needs but would ruin the classes in pve.
I remember when they said in a patch last league they had put a measure in place to prevent a team to have multiple classes. But I saw more duplicate classes than every before after it.
I am done with the game, Pre ordered and played during Beta, invested quite a large sum into the game but since HoT I have stopped buying things and putting that money towards other games id rather play.
They neglected other aspects of the game to “improve” pvp and instead it is worse than ever and have killed off the wvw community with it.
How did they turn my favourite MMO into this?
Anet needs to provide similar rewards in other modes.
They should have had wings for pve, pvp, wve and raids. All of them having a different appearance. This would cause alot of the ones who just want the wings to get them in a mode they are actually good at.
But they didn’t because they wanted to give their esports more people involved but it just caused a terrible league.
And you will find a few people raging at anyone for whatever reason.
I have seen alot of people call me a nub and to claim that because my score is low I didn’t do anything, but I have been defending points or ensuring the enemy doesn’t take a point for as long as I can whilst they look for kills all the while points are being decapped and they waste their time calling me and the rest of the team scrubs.
End of the day you will have good matches and bad matches, sometimes you don’t play to your best, others your team don’t and others the enemy team is just a build you struggle to fight, pay no mind to peoples shouts and just keep going, the more you play the better you get xD
They should have 2 pvp types. One for HoT owners and one for those without.
And only owners of HoT should be able to participate in the league.
It ruins the game for you and them when they feel like they are forced to pay to even have a fair chance and you as a HoT owner lose a match or even many matches because one or more of your team do not stand a chance in hell.
I have not bothered this year, missed season 1, got stomped season 2 my first match was a full soloq vs a guild team of about 4 members and I basically got stuck in amber all season and in 3 I managed to force myself into Emerald after a string of bad matches.
I am probably not the best pvper by far but at the very least I believe I should be in mid Sapphire and at most lower Ruby but I seem to always fight bigger pre mades, who always get the good class conbos and my team always seem to be non elite spec teams.
How did they manage to an amazing game and my main game into something so broken and that I avoid playing 95% of the time?
Doesn’t seem like it.
Seems like once I play with them and report them I have then ended up playing with them in the next week and the week after.
I have heard that people who get reported and do other unsavory things get warning and nothing else.
Except that Esports can and has harmed GW2.
Since it is available to everyone then everyone tries it, but only those with the elite specs have a decent chance of advancing and being useful. So people get steam rolled which causes them to think negatively of the game as a whole as due to the attention Esports has WVW and PVE are left to stagnate.
We can see the results of this in WVW as worlds have now been merged because not enough people play, but this causes more problems because some worlds are more active than others and now have even more members, causing worlds like mine to go from having a tough time to being impossible to win. So then people leave again after they already did.
Now look at PVE, HoT was not a success, it divided the community and caused people to leave and stop spending as much. They leave it for what 9 months? during that time people leave all during which Esports is constantly being put up and tweaked. New content drop (LS 3) people flock to it, but it lasts a week at most (Took me and my partner 3 hours to do 75-80% off all that new content) so after which they leave to play other games and only hop back on to do the next weeks worth of LS.
And all this is going on whilst the PVP is frequently being given attention, which as other pages show still isn’t helping because each League is worse than the next.
My world, quite populated:
during League 1: Majority of people in legendary
During League 2: Majority stuck in Ruby
During League 3: Barely any Legendary players in sight
During League 4: Barely anyone above Ruby or even with a tag to show they have played a single Ranked game this League
They need to work on fixing what is broken before running more competitions and splitting their team in the middle to make a new expansion.
It will just cause another mediocre expansion whilst the game we are stuck with at the moment is gaining more holes.
Remember when Anet said they put something in place to prevent class stacking, and all it caused was more class stacking? xD
And that people didn’t use DH because it was terrible but now after not being nerfed it is “OP”
They need to stop nerfing and actually tweak skills so they function differently in pvp than in pve like gw 1.
Druid can do well fighting 2 v 1, you may not win the fight but you force 2 enemies to waste their time on you, leaving your team of 4 to fight their 3, you would also deny them to point for a good portion, remember you are supposed to be keeping and holding points (The team that keeps the points wins the game not kills generally)
DH, Chrono and Scrap also do this quite well, I also use Necro to some success (I usually make my pvper to be sustainable so I can take on at least 2 people and keep them busy for a good portion of time)
But as you can see people have different favourites, so my actual advice is to take the classes, find a build and try it out with them all and see which one works best for you.
Factions was my first experience with Gw 1 and I loved the varying locations and architecture.
I am currently playing through it again with a Necro/Warrior (Giving a melee themed one a whirl xD) and I am really enjoying it
Cantha and Elona confirmations would be a big crowd pleaser for them and I would most certainly pre order that. But in the current state I am just going to continuing on gw 1 and just going on 2 to complete the new pve on the days they are released.
I remember doing some pvp and most people said that DH was a joke and one of the worst to play in pvp…….now people want it nerfed even after it has already had nerfs. So t went from a joke to OP? xDE
You see at alot more now that big groups sometimes struggle syncing up meta stuff because alot of people either don’t know or don’t care and just auto attack or follow the meta build instructions to a T.
SO it is really a mix of not knowing what to do and not enough people, which can be a problem when more content comes out and even less people do stuff especially when the next expansion is out and HoT is no longer done.
It is going to be pretty bad for people who buy into the game when the next expansions hits and have to do HoT with very low numbers because the rest are in whatever the new area is.
And I hope they have learnt that they need a variety of these meta maps and more layed back ones you can actually take a minute to look instead of having to be on the move most of the time. Plus that giving less in game armours. weapons (And things that should be in game rewards but are just cs skins) and cramming the CS with more stuff is not a good idea, either a healthy balance or you become a game like FW that at this moment is very empty on a server that used to be filled with players.
Well that is just how GW2 is now, sadly there are more toxic players than previously. I have also seen since the release of HoT more bad commanders than good, or just many that put up the tags but can’t command and when things go bad tag down and abandon.
I want this for the Spectral Greatsword, I want it in a dark blue to match my Guardians colour scheme. I hope they listen to this xD
Sadly you can’t progress in the HoT story without grinding meta events to get some, not all, of the mastery skills as without them you can’t start some story missions off. This story is short, good pacing in the first half of it but the last half is very rushed.
No dungeons but the Raid does have story that ties into LS 3 and the direction the story is going in for the foreseeable future.
Hope this helps you make a more informed decision xD
Alot of people are either doing the new map or have finished that and are playing other things until the next LS section is added.
I hear Auric Basin is done frequently now due to the good amount of money you can make from it but if you can’t get onto one of the full maps doing it you may have difficulty doing some stuff in HoT
Well I have played since Beta and I see that Anet are in a bad place. If they rush the next expac then we get another HoT, broken and needing alot of work before it is playable to a good degree, take too long and more people will leave because LS 3 is over and they have nothing new to do.
When they said they would now roll out updates in big bundles I actually thought the game was heading on back up to being a game I would enjoy, but then we got a map that takes a day to finish, including all the achievements, a fractal which is old ones stitched together and some fixes in prep for next pvp league.
I have moved onto other games and have stopped buying from them, if I will resume paying for in game stuff depends on the quality of LS 3 which as for episode one I felt was alright, good ending to the first ep, but very lacking in time spent as once I was finished with the new map had no other reason to stick around until next release.
Would rather spent my money on games that actively add to the core game, not just their cash shop.
People didn’t buy GW 2 for raids, and adding it in to satisfy a minority of people has just caused the majority to question if investing in GW 2 is a good idea or not.
They should have added the raids at the same time as LS 3, so everyone had something to do not just sitting around whilst one group was doing something new and exciting.
Well the last time we got ls maps it was the silverwastes and dry top, it took me 1/10th of the time to finish the new map than it did them, these was without rushing and just dong stuff as I saw it.
Anet is able to make good content but they need to flesh it out alot more otherwise people will go through it in 1 week then leave the game until the next update.
Well Anet seems set on fractals so of course they put in stuff like this.
They need to be making content that will last at least half the time we will be waiting for the next content update.
This will probably last a week for those trying to get everything for others it could last about 2 – 3 days.
They need to be bringing out stuff that last say 1 to 1 1/2 months because people will come along for say a week, play, then go onto something else until the next thing then rinse and repeat.
I remember alot of people saying that LS 3 chapters would be 2 – 3 times the size of LS 2 ones but it felt about the same size if not smaller.
Enjoyed it more than I thought I would and the area is nice but in about 3 hours I finished the story and almost all the achievements for this map.
Honestly, I’d love to hear from Anet on this. I’m really curious what the metrics are for PvP to PvE ratio that convinces them that PvP is more important than their core game. Like was mentioned earlier, how is it that Raids get their own team when I can guarantee you even with Anet hiding the raid metrics in shame, that less than 5% of the game population actually does the raids.
I’m not sure what Anet is thinking here, but the lack of content is driving even longtime players away from their game because for some reason, they think PvP is this big deal. We’ve already had LS3 pushed back twice now because of stuff. Honestly, I’m starting to think that we won’t see it, or the new Fractal until around Christmas time at this rate.
I played since Beta with a break from LS 1 to LS 2 and due to the things you have said I have since moved on to another game with my partner, I had a decent sized friends list but only about 1 of them goes on occasionally, we left at about the time everything was taking a back seat for raiding and tweaks to make pvp more fair and ready for Esports, we intend to play through LS 3 but nothing less than a miracle will pull us back for anything more than to get through storyline.
It is at least good to see that they have spoken about something recently at least instead of the only news being that a new outfit and weapon set is available in the Cash shop.
When we going to get more lions back in LA? Right now I think of it more as Lobsters Arch.
Well I am one of the ones who missed big chunks of this, did bits here and their but none that included the new support character so when they got added to LS 2 and I did that first mission I was thinking “Who the heck are these people?”
If they could even set up a chain of fractals that covered the key points from LS 1 that would be good enough, they still miss out on the experience of having it in the open world and any associated rewards and achievements but they don’t miss out on the story and lore which is the games foundations.
It can also make it harder for newer players to enjoy these new support characters since they missed the initial meetings and work together which is the key point in developing an interest in people and as they are a big part of the game now it can negatively affect new content they are involved in and peoples opinion of it.
Would have at least liked an option that didn’t mean handing it all to Phlunt.
I think they should separate F2P and B2P players into their own pvp sections, this would probably cause an issue for friends who want to play together but is alot better than the steam rolling hoT owners can do and how teams in the tournaments could have had easy runs to start with due to them constantly being pitted against non HoT owners or been on a team with more HoT owners than the other side.
I gave up on the leagues and stuff after about half way through league 2 and almost the start of league 3 because of so many poorly balanced games.
It was supposed to go or at least seems like:
Find where you need to be, if required grind events and kills til you get the right mastery, do the story quest then rinse and repeat.
People enjoyed the Silverwastes and Dry Top maps so I think they took what was tested on them and then took it to a whole new level, if that is your cup of tea or not is up to you though.
Well got some news which is good. Now it is time to see how it shapes up, It more than likely won’t bring me back for more than just finishing each bit as I have decided to main on a different MMO now after so long of waiting and only getting raids and pvp stuff.
Will be trying to go into this new content with no expectations at all so if it comes up short it won’t be as disappointing and if it comes out great well, then it will be great.
Don’t forget that the lead writer left to work on Destiny.
It seems more like they changed their primary focus. They are acting more like any old F2P game at the moment where the cash shop is flooded with stuff and they drag out any content adding for as long as possible plus trying to push their way into the tournament scene.
Clearly this is not benefiting them as I have not seen the amount of complaints and in fighting of the GW 2 community than I have since the HoT release.
Originally there would have been enough to fill a few maps but not anymore, whilst this game is currently in a drought of any major content aside from raids the competition have all brought out something new, and with the 1 chapter per every 2 – 3 months plan Anet seems to have this could be going on for a while.
There are some TS open communities you could try to get into doing maps or even creating your own and advertising it might help to get some life into these maps.
Well alot of people are not pleased with the current state of the game.
I have stopped playing and moved on to other things until they release LS 3, which I hear they will do 1 chapter every 2 – 3 months.
In the case of Faolin they had an interview sometime and said it wa to show how evil and ruthless Mordremoth is.
But this just killed off and huge opportunity for a longer HoT game where you would work with the Nightmare court and learn more about them and maybe even like them a little more.
With Faolin dead now I couldn’t care less about the court, they missed out on a golden opportunity with that one.
Suppose they picked Eir because they thought you’d feel more because of the reuniting and becoming closer with her son, but because that section was so short and was not covered much people just didn’t care as much. More often than not it seems their failings in story and getting people invested seems to come from rushed content or intentionally short sections that, in an MMO that was originally very story focused, which seems stupid since its strong story, like gw 1, picked it up.
The new npcs could have been fleshed out a little more but I enjoy them. It is more a case that they force you into buying these extra story bits to see them develop. And HoT does not do them justice. Good characters, bad story.
This is based on if we get 4 episodes and each episode has 4 chapters.
Episode size can vary but I don’t see them being any shorter that 4 chapters per episode.
So lif we assume that we get 4 chapters an episode and 4 episodes for ls 3 then we need to wait 32 – 48 months before the next expanson and don’t forget to add the time since the release of HoT.
That is 3 – 4 years of trying to keep pve players satisfied with ls which are sometimes hit and miss and take let us say a week to finish and another week to get all achievements associated with it.
If that is the case then they better fill each one with enough content to fill the gap between chapters.
Some of it sounds good but you know people would use this to get a dps counter and kick people from teams because their dps is a little less.
I don’t want to be kicked from a party because I chose to use marauder gear and not zerker. The game is about playing how you want and for the dps count at least will be a step in the other direction which the raids already did by making your team take certain roles.
Just add a story mode, it allows people to experience the story and use the story mode to train on the mechanics instead of ruining the regular raids because they lack practise.
Also story mode won’t give the raid currency and you can’t get the achievements for the raid apart from say completing it on story mode.
It is a no brainer and would stop some of the arguments plus bolster the roster of people capable of doing raids.
If enough people put in a complaint they will have to. But HoT fixes will be the priority.
Pvp only gain access to dungeon and HoT armours plus their own unique set. Not sure about full sets of HoT gear. Plus whatever armour they get out of rewards.
They do not gain access to mistward. And they can’t get skins only available to the mystic toilet.
HoT did introduce some good thing but on the whole it has damaged the game. It has caused some dedicated people to leave and has split the community with its majority of casual players or average players and the hard core players and this has only increased tension with every raid release with only 10 minute pve content.
As mentioned the real issue here is that they where focused on casual play whilst giving us a great storyline, but HoT introduced an expansion for more experienced players and it also had a mediocre storyline at best, missing many opportunities to go deeper into the games lore. They have also stopped working on legendry weapons for the foreseeable future which was one of their selling points.
They still have a chance to come back from the brink but they do need to decide what their target audience is and put most of their work making the game right for them as right now they have a split focus and people are more unhappy with them now than they where pre HoT.
it is ok, when the first wing opened about an hour after people where only looking for “exp”.
It is just down to luck when going with pugs, I have not completed VG but I have had teams that where full pug and got it down to 5% before they gave up and other times full guilds with me and 1 other as fillers and only me and the other pug knew what to do and the guild couldn’t even get it to the first split phase.
But you will also get people who only want “exp” and they themselves are actually not good at raiding at all. It is the way MMO games are now sadly, you either spoil the excitement of a new thing by having to do alot of researching before to even get taken onto a team or you don’t do it.
Why not add a story mode option? It allows all those wanting training on mechanics to go into that and then they only people who will be doing the regular raid are well prepared people.
Don’t let story mode players get any sort of reward that the regular raid has, Money at the end and some exotic gear or something and that the only achievement they would get is from completing it on storymode.
That way you get to give those who want training a place to work on the mechanics and understand what to do and how, gives the ones who just want the story the chance to play through it because I know I don’t enjoy just watching a cutscene of someone else doing it unless I have done it myself before and finally it means that most of the time anyway that the regular raids are then just filled with people who know what they are doing and regular raiders who just look for the odd person or 2 don;t have to go through many people who have never done it before.
Problem is there will be people who want training but can’t get it because I have joined raid guilds before and all they did was ignore me and my partner, do raids without us and boast about their raiding achievements. Or just that no one is willing to take them in because they only want exp in their guild and have no time to teach……
I have not gotten past VG yet, tried about 6 times in total since their release, and already I am capable of doing the whole thing and know the mechanics and have taken the thing down to 5% consistently with pugs. The only thing that stops us is that timer on the 3rd phase of VG is it when if you don’t kill it in that time it does a huge attack and all because we are not dealing peek dps or someone didn’t eat the right food so they do less damage.
And there is also party makeup, alot say they randomly join a pug and do well but doesn’t mean every pug you randomly join is going to be that good or have the right party compilation that can get you the win.
But regardless raiding has split the fanbase and if Anet bring out more raids over pve then they will have one side outraged and if they do the reverse they will outrage the other side. If they try doing both they will probably come up short and anger both unless they can manage to produce lengthy pve content like Vanilla gw 2 and bring out raids that are challenging but don’t force you into playing a specific way to win as the game is supposed to be about play how you want.
The only problem I am having with the raid is the boss kill timer on VG, I have only tried about 6 times over the course of them being released (First couple of tries where on their release) but every time we get it to 5% and we wipe because a single person died, just one person so their dps doesn’t get to take off that 5% over the course of their death.
I have not done anything after VG for obvious reasons so I don’t know about anything else but is the timer to kill the thing before that huge attack or w/e it is really needed?
All that promotes is min maxing and forcing everyone to play their class exactly like everyone else in a game that was supposed to allow you to play how you wish with.
If they want to continue doing raids then they should do it in a way that is true to what GW 2 is, a game that lets you play how you want, not forcing you into full damage roles with peek damage and dps or tanking roles because then they are just going in a direction that isn’t what GW is and if they want to continue going along with the raid idea then they lose a big chunk of their audience then also have to make raids that top their competitors.
Finally they would need to bring content out simultaneously, new raid plus a new portion to the games pve, like how FF 14 brings out stuff in chunks every 4 months give or take.
Oh right well erm. The elite specs are fun to use and it adds some interesting things like jumping shrooms and gliders.
Story ain’t to great and is short
Not much but I hope it helps in your decision xD
