flame rams can be placed far enough away from the door where they can still hit the door and the operator cannot be hit by arrow carts that can only shoot the back of the door. (the arrow cart will hit the ram, just not its operator).

Examples of third party applications that do not give gameplay advantage:

Overlays from recording software used in streaming, such as to put an image over the game that is broadcasted on the stream.
Recording software that records gameplay for streaming or storage.
FPS counter overlay

These sorts of things have their uses and don’t give gameplay advantages. (well you can make an argument that voip software makes it easier to communicate – but the counter argument to that is that people sitting in the same room have that same communication advantage and that voip software eliminates that advantage). Voip software also does not modify the game.
In your case gassy, using such a tool to get a screenshot would not be utilizing it to get a gameplay advantage. But I would expect you to get caught up in a blanket ban from those using the program to gain a gameplay advantage (like using arrow carts in wvw). You might be able to appeal it and get it reversed if you ONLY used it for creating screenshots and had it disabled entirely otherwise. But support may not reverse the ban – so use it at your own risk.
With past bans though support seems to target people who use these things often, if you used it just once or twice they seem to give you a pass. OFC I don’t mean this as you should just cheat sparingly because they might just come down hard on any and all uses.

When i’m on my Mesmer if people are not tipping i’m just going to go off and do something else. I don’t ask for tips but I also wont just sit there and be someones mule when I can be going off and having fun in the game. Its very boring waiting up there for portals cooldown and porting people.

I wonder if newer players would appreciate a skill usage list in spectate? Put it on the side of the screen for the current spectated player, and make it unobtrusive. Don’t include the auto attack on that list to avoid spam. Add an option to hide it.
technically there is no autoattack skill in gw2. So from a code standpoint excluding a skill is a bit tricky I imagine.

I’ve never tested what would happen if both foods were used at once on the same 4 second bleed, but I believe it would be 5.6 – (5.6 × .4) = 3.36 seconds. In other words, if both food types are used, they would not cancel each other out; lemongrass would win by a huge margin.
You can try to do some math with it. But to see just how large a margin the two effects have, you can pit each other to the maximum. Maximum Condition Duration is always + 100% and max duration decrease is always – 100%.
If you have 100% condition duration, a 6sec bleed would last 12sec.
If you have -100% condition duration, a 6sec bleed would last 3sec.
If you have both those max in place, the – condition duration is calculated last so should be -100% of a 12sec bleed which should put it back at 6sec. This is all just theoretical though…I could be totally wrong.But -duration will always be favored because removing a fraction of a second diminishes a condition by a full tic.
tl;dr—if anyone understood how good lemongrass is, they’d stop dying to my condition builds in WvW.

+100% is doubleif you have a 6 second bleed and +100% you get a 12 second bleed. If you then have -100% you have a 0 second bleed.
Lemongrass will always win, end of story.
Pizza completely negates the effect of lemongrass due to additive scaling. Meaning that they are equal in power.
10 second bleed lasts:
LemonGrass + Melandru -65% (10 + (10*-.65)) = 3.5 seconds
Pizza + LemonGrass + Melandru -25% = 7.5 seconds
Lemongrass -40% = 6 seconds
Pizza + Lemongrass 0% = 10 seconds

Thanks for the feedback here are some clarifications
Vets at tower: Looks like we changed how the defend event is trigger, it now only triggers on attacking the door or walls for keeps and towers, and any guard for all camps. Sorry for the confusion clearly I’ve been doing it wrong sense that was changed.
Thieves: The main thing I wanted to get across with thieves was not meant to be a commentary on balance but just on how you spend your time. There are many builds set up to be defensive and with good evasion and positioning you can run a group around in circles no matter what profession you are. If you let 1-2 people run your group around in circles and get a lucky kill here or there your letting the enemy tie you up when you could move on to another objective.
It’s not about letting the thief run you around. If the thief wants to keep harassing your five man the advanced tactic of “moving on” will not work. They have stealth and mobility.
You should know that if a thief is keeping you in combat that he is putting himself at great risk. It is much easier to kill a thief that is trying to harass you than it is to chase a thief that is trying to evade you. You poke me, and ill unleash stunlock.

I dont think he meant a good thief can kill 6 people. I think he meant more a good thief can tie up 6 people. In this case, the thief didnt kill anyone, but he did distract them and pulled them off their course temporarily.
First he said a good thief could keep a group like his tied up for hours. Then he said a good thief could kill 5 or 6 if they don’t know how to handle thieves. Then, he gave his advice to deal with good thieves which was to “just move on.”
That is basically an acknowledgement that the stealth and porting available to a thief is ridiculous in this game coming straight from the developers but they seem to be just perfectly fine with.
Official Anet stance on fighting good thieves: “Just move on, you aren’t going to kill them”

You would prefer him to give bad advice? Like waste your time chasing a permastealth thief that bounces from npc to npc to stay in stealth. The purpose of the stream isn’t to give us design thoughts. And spending your time chasing a defensive thief around is a waste of time in the game. I would prefer it if anet hits some of the major stealth skills and combofields that thieves use to maintain permastealth but that’s not the purpose of the video. (and anet has said that they want to make the thief more survivable so they can nerf its stealth somewhat).
Anyway I would prefer it if the devs did stream wvw every week, even if they arn’t the greatest players. They have full time jobs you cant expect them to be top players compared to some people who can put in 10-12 hours a day into playing the game.

Attacking vets at camps contests the camp, attacking guards at towers/keeps does not contest the tower/keep.
I think izzy is more of an spvp player so yeah he might not be down with all the wvw mechanics. That’s the danger of livestreams if your wrong everyone finds out.
(he also didn’t know that fortified walls means that the door will be reinforced).

Point 8 was half addressed last patch as there are 2 WvW dailies. And all dailies can be completed in WvW. And dailies provide laurels which can be used to get ascended gear (except backpack, needs to be added). We don’t need a separate wvw only daily the wvw dailies combined with the pve ones is fine as you only need to do 5. Adding one more wvw daily to bring it up to 3 would probably put it at the sweet spot. In addition to more wvw daily types (vet kills in wvw, camps captured in wvw – not towers or keeps, guard points captured in wvw)

a zerg isn’t going to be running around the map placing traps.

I like traps. It gives small groups a new tool to starve out supply hungry zergs. Before you could only start upgrade before the zerg reached the camp. Now you can put traps on bottlenecks and rip off the the residual supplies. Zergs have now to find and circumvent the traps. It will slow down the Blitzkrieg meta even more.
But the zerg will most likely have more traps than your small group so its not like this will adversely effect a zerg, especially since a small group will have less supply so have more to lose if they hit a trap as opposed to a zerg running into a trap and losing 1/10th of their supply…
Zergs are much slower in acquiring supplies. Especially since RI works correctly. Smaller groups instead of one zerg can collect much more supplies in the same time. So they have much more traps they can build. Zergs will therefore much more suffer.

Maybe? What if the trap only affects five people? What if you’re running havok with five people? What if you hit a trap and all 50 of your supply is just gone?
What if a zerg with 400 supply hits this and loses 50?

Why would a small coordinated group knowing that traps exist allow themselves to all be hit by it?
I see supply traps being used in the major zerg pathways which zergs tend to run around in but small groups tend to skirt. Wasting a trap on 1-2 people seems like a waste of a trap to me. If the trigger point is 5 in a trap they could easily just make it 6.

It seems like its designed to be placed defensively so you can use it to discover a Mesmer about to get through the chokepoint your defending and open a portal.

If it is researched on the server you are guesting to you can activate the bounty. You have to activate the bounty on the server the bounty mission was started on.

Which is why they asked certain people they unbanned to delete items from their account themselves.
Anet also has no real reason to go randomly deleting your items. So something else must have happened, either a bug, user error, or a third party.

D and P seem to take wvw seriously, they hop maps to take a quick keep and get that PPT. At least as far as I can tell. They were a big reason maguuma was getting a lot of points Monday-Thursday.
Its best to get some scouts on your BL and get a response force ready when “DER”-P/PYRO are out. You stop them at the first keep and they might seek a softer target.

Anets got the best server architecture for any MMO ive played.
Do you ever ask yourself – why are the servers up instantly after a patch?
Why is there no downtime?
When other mmo’s update their servers go down for the patch for several hours -not so with arenanet. They are doing something right here.
The answer is that arenanets servers are all virtual. This lets them transition people into new versions seamlessly, they have the new version run alongside the old version, as people log out of the old version and log back into the new version the resources the old version takes drops as the new version increases, until the old version expires (3 mins, unless it is an instance).
The problem is a hardware one and a software one, the problem is mainly a big O problem. The more people in an area doing the maximum amount of actions per second the more server resources that client will take. Huge fights have players spamming their keys and the server is receiving all that information and has to process it all in order. Eve online has similar problems when laaaarge numbers of players would crowd into one tiny spot for a huge fight. Before time dilation (TIDI) the server would be brought to a screeching halt and often just crash. We have a similar problem in gw2, but no TIDI to help the server process everything gracefully in order. So the anet engineers need to work on a solution – and it will be a combination of reducing the amount of cpu work that has to be done and beefing up the wvw server hardware.
Currently think of this when you damage another player the following must be done
Skill base damage increased by your power times the power coefficient for the skill multiply by a random factor, roll to see if it crits, if it crits multiply by the critical damage stat, apply any on hit effects, apply any on crit effects, then calculate damage received by reducing by toughness, check boons for protection and reduce more, does the enemy block it? does it miss? does something else happen to it? (reduce to 0, transfer to pet?). Finally reduce health of target hit by damage, if target is below 0, put in downstate, if already in downstate set to defeated. display information to client hit and client hitting.
From what I estimate there is a lot of calculation going on for a single hit, siege hits are simplified as only wvw traits modify the damage side of the equasion, which is probably why they can up the aoe cap for siege.

Those “stupid” changes were suggested on the suggestions forum before it happened. People have been asking for a WvW confusion nerf, and they asked for a portal nerf because porting 80 people from point A→B was too strong in wvw.

Only an idiot would rush a gate with rams or golems which has multiple arrow carts being manned.
i would like to see you counter treb the arrow carts being placed at the lord room of the Hills..
Currently the way to beat it is to put an arrow cart out of visible range (from the inside) and just shoot it into the lord room. With the extra range this counter is now possible.
Arrow carts not in the back can be aoe’d through the walls.
Unfortunately it requires arrow carts to counter arrow carts, but pre-patch with leg specialist applying immob I could lock down a hills lord room and make it impenetrable.

I think consumers in general are not profit maximizing – however business entities tend to operate in a profit maximizing mindset and will more often negotiate a lower price.
Example: The end consumer might not wait for a TV to go on sale – because they want a new TV now.
You can apply that to the gw2 economy, often players want an item now. Lets say I want a certain food item now, because I need it now. Would I put up a buy order to save some coin or would I just pick it up off the sell orders now. Then I don’t have to wait to use it.
Buy orders do not have any inherent risk, as you can cancel them at no cost to you so the only factor I can think of is that people don’t want to wait for the things they want and are willing to pay a certain premium for getting a good asap instead of later. While PM is a general guideline for the economy as a whole – ‘convenience fees’ influence the GW2 economy heavily.
The second thing I would point to is that GW2 really doesn’t have business entities. Just a marketplace of solitary producers and consumers. Businesses in real life often constantly look for competitive pricing on the goods/resources/services they need to operate. Businesses are far more likely to care about profit maximizing and they are far better at planning ahead for what they will need at what point in time – often avoiding having to pay a little extra to get something right away.
TL;DR in real life end consumers often don’t have a profit maximizing mindset in the same way that businesses do. If a consumer wants something right away they are often willing to pay a little extra. This is reflected in the GW2 economy.

I wouldn’t underestimate the power of poultry either. It may be abundant but the recipe calls for a whopping 4 slabs of poultry.
Poultry isn’t nearly as limited – it drops in a LOT of different zones from a variety of mobs. If the zone has moa/raptors in it, its got poultry.
Sprig doesn’t appear in level 80 zones (only 30-70) and is one of many possible mats.
Lemongrass is the other stressed mat but is far easier to get reliably.

One new job for small teams is to clear siege from towers and forts. With only one scout in a tower or fort its simple enough to build an AC out of his view and then use it to clear arrow carts on the inside.

usually when looking at cooking bottlenecks its going to be a lower level – not as often harvested item. Once the supply diminishes the price will spike.
Lemongrass is spiking sure, but there will be people feeding its supply much more rapidly than rosemary.
Right now rosemary has large stockpiles which should hold the price down for a while – but it wont last that long.

If it helps, don’t compact your bags. Put items you want to keep in the lower bag slots to avoid salvaging things you want to keep.

people don’t realize what scouting should be.
It isn’t sitting at the target waiting for it to be attacked, but watch the only 2 ways to get to the target to attack it.
If you sit at a supply camp waiting for it to be attacked reinforcements are often too far away to help you anyway.
If you see them coming from the passageway underneath hills keep going north on the other hand… – effective scouting.
