So what ways are there to play WvW solo

Do what I do solo towers as long as the extra guards/increased guard lvl are not present it should not be a problem. I will note I only solo towers with my guardian and necromancer so class may be an issue but I don’t know for sure.

If we are talking ways for them to make money it could not be something to that would split players up. The only ideas I have would be visual.
1. commander tag color changer- changes color of the tag
2. guild commander tag- makes it so only guild members can see your tag
3. tower/keep skins- when your guild claims a tower it takes the appearance of the chosen skin.
4. guild emblem/effects pack- random assortment of emblems and effects for your guild emblem
That is all I can think of right now. But I also don’t want to see WvW become exclusively for guild play because all those pugs people yell at and insult is one less player for your server.

Note: I’m a pug 95% of the time and I can solo towers but have still been called rally bait.

Here is a screenshot of an interesting vine right outside of the dry top entrance. I have no idea if it has always looked like that. But my question is if the vines travel underground they pass the destroyers in Kessex Hills and also I thought the tengu had a destroyer problem so do you think the destroyers would ignore the vines or are the vines avoiding them?

A vine is also at the way point in Fort Salma. There is also a member of the priory stacking crates next to it that have artifacts from the tower of nightmares in them.( I don’t know if that’s new) My only gripe is there is not a single npc seems to even notice the vine at all.

OP you should just do what I do and stop playing until you feel like it again. I got the game at launch and after my friends left in the great exodus 2-3 months after the game launched I stopped playing for 10 months and came back for a little while and left again.
The only thing I know is this is the last game I play that has anything to do with ncsoft which I say to anyone who dislikes this game or the direction it seems to be going to also do. Hope you find another game maybe I’ll be playing it also.

WvW is just a numbers game(if you have more you win). I fully expect anet to come along with mega servers for WvW and then it will die. The problem for anet seems to be resources to get the people they need and that is ncsofts fault this is the last game I play that has ncsoft involved thats for sure.

I missed a lot of the living story stuff but even reading about what I had missed it just feels like filler. I thought about the fact that this game is going to release in china at some point and that maybe anet are just holding back on progressing the story or adding to much to the game so when it is released there they can release all the permanent content at the same time in different regions.

The way I am solving this and many other problems is simple. I am just going to stop playing the game the same way I did for 8 months already. Ascended armor is not the reason for me but combine it with what has been added and all it says is this game is not for me. Good luck to you who like and enjoy the game.

I would add no more class system to old mechanics I would like to see go. The issue I have is they say gw2 does not have the trinity when it just has a different trinity
Classic MMO tank/healer/dps
GW2 system dps/support/control
In both systems you have to have your traits set up and be geared correctly to be the most effective at 1 of the 3 and class choice just means you can be very effective at 2 of the 3.

I think the arguing is not helping forge community strength here. I believe constructive ideas are how we should proceed with this topic.

I agree with this. The problem is (in my opinion) that how the game was originally designed and from beta to now all the changes that have gone against that it has just become a mess. Parts of the game have become generic grind/farms while others have had no change. The problem with just adding more champs to other zones is that they are already there and the reason they are not farmed is because of the time it takes them to re-spawn or events that have to be done to get them to appear. Personally I don’t think anything will really change and that just means the game will become stagnate. After enough time people will become bored and move on to other games. The original design of this game is why I got interested in it but each change and addition has made it more bland and generic.

I’m not sure what type of player people would consider me but there is no difference between a hardcore player and a casual player. This being applied to WvW then it just means what part of the game they spend the most time. I have seen plenty of hardcore WvW players say there is no loot in WvW when I know there are loot bags, champ bags, along with event karma xp and money it sounds alot like pve but with a higher chance of dying. All the rewards for the season have done is further divide the games community.

That said its back to the same old same old with pve players zerging champs for loot and WvW players zerging maps for loot some say doesn’t exist.

How can I show casuals the importance of TS?

Not really, TS lets a good commander issue instructions on the fly, where to stack, where to fire fields, what type of field to fire, the melee path etc. all of which generally means you stay alive longer and collect more loot. If your not on TS you don’t know what to do and when to do it.

I’ve only been playing about 6 or 7 weeks and the first couple I just followed the tag using my common sense and awareness as you put it, i then dl’ed TS and just sat in the channel and my loot shot up and my deaths shrunk by a huge margin because i knew what the plan was, as it was happening.

Possibly Deso TS is just far too civilised compared to the TS you’ve tried but its generally only relevant information that’s coming over the comms.

I’m glad it has helped you but as for me I see no need for it. If at some point the majority of WvW players (on my server) start to think TS is a must have and harass/force people to use it then its simply time for me to find another game to play.

I play both and honestly use whatever you have more fun with. I personally find my dps staff elementalist has more options for different situations.

My main used to be a human male necromancer but I dislike all the light armor sets to me they all look bad with the exception of the most overused one (shadow set). I do not count dungeon sets because I do not do dungeons so as a result my main now is an asura elementalist that can wear whatever because its just harder to see.

What exactly do you guys do to keep interest?

A good WvW match keeps it interesting but with so few I have lost almost all interest in the game. I still play when I do because there are no other games out that interest me right now. I have no goals in the game anymore. I don’t do dungeons so I don’t care about a legendary. I already explored the world. The living story like 95% of the game world feels dead. I was close to a skin I wanted in the ap chest so for 4 weeks which was equal to 4 days of my playtime I had a goal.

The insults given for peoples opinions on both sides are sad. I don’t care what others do let them play how they want to. There is a real problem that will hurt the game more than help it and it was even around at launch. Regardless of what happens at some point this game will see the same thing that happened last oct-nov and many people will leave. Some questions to think about.
How many people have already left?
How many people will leave after getting everything for character/s?
How many are just waiting for another mmo to come out?
I started with about 10 friends and another 50 or so from a guild I stopped for 8 months or so because of work/life but its been over a year that the other 59 people have even played.

Like myself and others have already said the rewards should have been WvW centered a better reward would have been some laurels and siege blueprints. People saying haha that will teach the pve scrubs ect. ect. must be on severs that have a large WvW player base but some servers would love to get some of the pve players more interested. On my server if we could get the people on champ farms during our coverage gaps into WvW we would be much stronger. The only reason I still play the game is WvW but easy wins or instant loss match-ups and that is a week I don’t play much if at all.

For the people who keep saying you don’t get rewarded for playing WvW I would like ask what game are you playing? When I play WvW even if I buy upgrades and siege along with any armor repair costs in a 2-3 hour time frame when i’m done 99% of the time I see I have made 5-10 gold and various mats. The rewards are a problem because most loot in this game has little to no value but that extends to the whole game.

I really thought the rewards would have been the mini,mats,money and siege blueprints. With all the stacking, trolling ,spying ,hacking to name a few things I saw during the season even in bronze league if the rewards were better it would become worse. The biggest problem is the game has become nothing but a farm/grind and I don’t see it changing. A good match-up for WvW keeps me playing the game but most are nothing more than easy win or instant loss.

The biggest problem with champ trains in general is that its the only thing that keeps some people playing. The reasons this even happened is the reward system and drop rates are and always have been terrible. If you also add in the fact with how fast you level the only gear worth anything is lvl 80 exotic. I don’t think champ trains will ever stop the only thing that might happen is they might be moved to a different zone.

I did not read every comment but most for the people who enjoy the champ trains that is fine. The problem will be when the economy gets so inflated it stops new or current players who don’t like to farm from reaching there goals. Things that were 5-10 silver when the game launched are now 30-60 silver and prices will keep rising. I don’t like to farm and because of work 6-7 months during the year I am lucky to play 1-2 hours a month. The way things are progressing now by this time next year I will just be playing a different game and that is all anyone can really do.

As it is easy to guest, I do not really care if your feel your server has population issues, even though I believe your server has plenty to do the encounter, but that it more of an issue that the culture of your server is to avoid it for whatever reason. The entire rest of the game should not be punished for it.

The rest of us should not be punished simply because the majority of your server simply avoids certain encounters. Seems to me it is more elitist to expect encounters be changed to meet your specific personal need then it is for me to request they be left alone to the vast masses who enjoy that they need more then your personal group.

How would you or anyone be punished with the change? The event would still be the same for your group/groups. Like I said you seem to want content that is elite. In response to your just go guest response most servers do the events at prime time or reset the only option would be guest from na servers to eu and that is not possible.

I disagree. I feel it should be content gated to more then one group. You may not like it, but that is how I feel about it.

It seems to me you just want content that is elite like raids in any other mmo. With your view on this only people who are in large guilds or play at prime time should enjoy open world events. On my server temples and world bosses are only done at reset and 2 of the temples usually not done are Balthazar and Grenth and the claw of jormag is skipped most of the time. I’ll never understand the need for people to want content that only a few can enjoy.

In large groups and battles on my server with the amount of guardians and warriors that are always around stacking might it just seems like wasted focus for me to stack it myself.
Also if I add in applied fortitude/foods and stones for zergs my survival increases greatly but for small groups extra survival would be nice.

I like the idea I have had enough bad interactions with players as far as dungeons are concerned to make this appealing maybe with reduced rewards so it would still encourage groups. @SmirkDog in every mmo I have played there are always solo players and you should go read about why the game is called Guild Wars. This suggestion comes from how things were in the original game.

The times I have played spvp by solo joining I always end up going against the same group multiple times. The members of my team will change but the other team is always the same people. Is this intended because as it is now it just makes me stop playing spvp until I feel like giving it another go.

When people get the rewards most pve players who started playing will be happy and stay and get better or feel it was a waste and never come back.

What gives you the impression we’re angry lol? I’m really disappointed in SF for being pretty sore losers, and that’s really annoying considering the amount of effort we put into this. If that annoyance comes across as anger, sorry.

It was just a lighthearted jab in response to some of your own jabs at us. But I’m not sore just giving my opinion. like I said by weeks end none of this will matter some severs will gain players and some will lose players that is the only lasting effect there will be.

I agree with new places to explore would be great. But if you look at the state of the game world now and the many empty zones I think they should find a way to first get people back into the world. If new areas came out then how long would it take for people to abandon them unless they were more profitable things would be the same as they are now.

This just seems wrong. I stopped using my necro for WvW because of the condition cap and with the amount of warriors people use with melandru runes and lemongrass food.

I have had some fun and some bad times. If SF was easily winning our numbers increased because of pve players looking for a profitable train but I found it boring. To counter that if it was the opposite and we were losing you would be lucky to not be outnumbered on 3 maps until our servers prime time.

I have a question does a gaming mouse/keyboard make a large difference? For any pc game I have ever played I always just used the stock mouse/keyboard that came with whatever pc I upgraded. Playing this it seems some of the times i died in WvW has been do to a bad click or losing track of the cursor.

I have not even thought about it all I know is there will be changes a new heal skill and ascended armor. My build will not change to much because of the cost of the ascended items I already have.

To answer your questions
1. the trait increases my critical hit damage.

2. I stay alive more than I die. I stay to the side or in the back of the zerg.

The extra survival your build has would be welcome for smaller groups because I found people like to target squishy classes. But my crits do 3k-4k without might and at 25 stacks I have done 9-10k damage. But when I see some of the changes that make it in Dec. 10th I’ll look for a way to add more survival to my build.

I play on SF and for most of the week so far we have been outnumbered on 2-3 maps most of the time. DH who we are facing only played HOD 1 time while we went against them 2 weeks in a row. The numbers I have seen have dropped after the first HOD match and it has just gotten worse. At the end of the week what few oceanic players we had are going to transfer and alot of pve players have already decided not to return.

The marketing aside for most players this game is already a grind, how people play is dictated by the economy. The question is where can the game go from here. I think alot of hate for the living story and anything added is people are already not having fun spending all there time farming. If something comes along that make them think they have to grind more or they cannot profit from they automatically dislike it.

I agree things like that are the reason I don’t buy gems and I don’t farm when I play so gold is not an option. I hope I don’t get in trouble for saying this but cut anet some slack on the gem store they are not really in charge of it ncsoft hired and appointed the person who I think has complete control over the gem store. I enjoy the game even with its faults but the gem store practices are one thing I would love to see change so I could support anet.

I would just like to know if ascended armor is even coming. I have some mats saved up that I could sell so I could finish off my characters my problem is I don’t let the games economy dictate how I play but I will need the armor in WvW. Anyone can get by with exotics in WvW but when the armor is added to that it will make a difference.

I didn’t read every post so sorry if this has been said but the new map does not effect the WvW score its just something to play while you wait or choose to play on it. I think the map is going to be testing grounds of sorts for new ideas that might make there way into WvW.

It effects WvW population. No que = less dispersed population among servers. This is guaranteed.

But if its not helping the world score and if people are glad to play there and have no effect on the match-up then what harm is it? No matter what happens people will always stack servers or what ever server they think will win. WvW will never be fair and its the players who look for the easy win that caused it new map or not.

I started playing at release with friends who no longer play I stopped for about 8 months and am really just playing catch up. But i have done world completion and I wvw, world bosses only happen at reset on my server and I have never gotten anything great from them. On the other hand I could make tons selling my mats I already have but with ascended armor on the way I’m holding off. And I play just fine I do what i feel like and is fun the game should not be about money.

I play multiple characters and prices for some things are high. I play and I’ll gather my own mats for stuff but things like certain runes are ridiculous (to me anyway). I don’t run with champ trains etc and I like to play multiple characters and do whatever I feel like doing . So do you think the economy is fine or do you think something needs to change?

P.S I know that eventually I can afford what I want for my characters. It will be one at a time and take a good amount of time to do.

Its to late now alot of people would get upset and there would be no commanders in WvW but there should have been 2 tags one for WvW you have to earn and one for pve that you pay for.
