Rather than dumbing down the competition, its probably better to think of ways to up the skill level of casual dungeon guilds. Personally i feel forcing ppl to pug these events and telling ppl they dont need to practice whatsoever will not inprove the player skill levels

Pugquest could work if you log how well each player is doing for seeding purposes to make teams more fair. and have optional private ratings as a way to filter out trolls. Of course the thing about recordings is people who spent alot of time on it are going to win. Grinding RNG is not fun.

I think recordings are more hardcore than real time events. The thing about records is that you have to constantly reset to get the perfect run which means casual guilds have no chance of winning. Real time events are much more forgiving in my opinion. I am sure you have watched the previous tourneys and have watched top hardcore pve guilds messing up really badly. In real time events, it is more about getting a good run rather than grinding RNG to get the perfect run.

People also just don’t have time to practice so you have to make a format where you don’t need to practice much to win something.

I don’t know if I agree. I mean, yes you’re not wrong most people just want to farm and get their shinies. However, I think shorter time limits and different rulesets creates a more dynamic situation. People won’t be sitting there grinding it over and over just to catch a prize, but with how readily available recording software is now people could simply do whatever path is on the list for that week/month and record it and toss their best run they catch up for the competition. Win/Don’t win, whatever, no need to grind.

That’s how it often was for my old MMOs, with an ever changing set of content you really only got a month or two where you were all set up and maxed out to really approach an optimal time before you got new content and gear out dating the old stuff and rendering it obsolete. So the speed runs generally consisted of a competition on daily/weekly farming runs you’d do.

That’s what I’d imagine a shorter competition time would do. You might get some people tryharding and grinding it out to get first place but people could still win with a good daily run of whatever path with whatever rules at whatever time. You play a little more focused and maybe take a little longer if different rules are implemented for a single path of your daily tour and you might grab some extra gold. Pretty simple idea.

I do think Monthly is better than weekly in that it’d be easier to supply decent prizes. Weekly would drain wallets pretty fast.

I believe if you are catering an event to the hardcore pve guilds, it will have a low turn out. Believe it or not, but there are a LOT of dungeon guilds in this game that no one has heard of. If you can get those people interested, I think it will really foster the growth of these events.

Competition grows over time. Speed running is not hard, it can be easily taught and to most people there is no incentive to learning how to speed run because as long as they can get their dungeons done they are happy. If there is an event that slowly trains people to speed run and heavily incentivize them to participate, I believe it can be really successful.(Basically every sport has a minor league and even super casual leagues)

Anyways my suggestion:

A Best of 2 Bi-weekly 1 round swiss style Trio Challenge :
First week you let teams register. End of First week you pair teams up and decide their paths.(Reason is so teams only need to practice 2 paths in 1 week which should be easy)
End of 2nd week you have teams compete. For every path a team wins, they get x gold and circuit points.

This is very casual friendly as teams only need to compete 2 times and they don’t need to practice every path to stay competitive.

Also maybe you can include like charity challenges like for example a person puts up 50$ and will donate to x charity if a team win. This way the competitors will know they are doing something thats helping society.

I’ve also been taking quick pockets most of the time except for archie,moss, and mai. The CD on steal is pretty much irrelevant and the daze is usually more of a burden.

Honestly, sometimes I don’t understand why there is a swiftness problem when retreat and charge should give a permanent uptime for runs but its there. And as a result some people have resorted to blasting lightning fields. I don’t understand why some people blast lightning fields as it literally is a time waster so to counter act it, I run thrill of crime and say we aint blasting no lightning field. Think of it this way; if it takes 6seconds to blast that lightning field after a boss dies and it took you 8seconds to kill that boss, totc is a ~200% team dps increase and since you are 1/5 of your team it is a 1,000% personal dps increase.

Incase people haven’t heard, the event is cancelled due to lack of interest from the community to register teams.

AC p6 can be done in ~15mins.
CM 123 are about 4mins each.
SE 13 are about 4mins each.
HotW 123 are around 5minutes each.
TA f/u are about 7.5mins each.
CoE 1/2/3 are about 9mins each.
Arah 1/2/3 are about 10-15mins eachs.

Personally I prefer gw2dungeons.net over gwscr just because they are more visible from a spectator point of view. I do however think a weekly poll is just a little overkill and makes things hard to keep up. I appreciate the idea behind it but I feel the implementation is just wrong and creates alot of busy work. However I also agree that every 6 months is too long but these are just nuances that can be worked out. But anyways let’s not derail the main reason why we are here, we need a poll on the use of waypoints of SSD vs HDD users. Its a huge exploit to have SSDs.

I don’t think Anet intended skills like burning retreat/ withdraw to roll forwards, it is clearly an exploit.

If you are going to PuG, you should know that there will be players like that. This is basically an expected and quite common scenario. If your LFG read “zerkers only or get kicked” then you are entitled to kick them because they have been warned before hand. If your LFG read “LFM fotm 50” then it is really your fault. I usually just yolo when I pug and have never really kicked any1 ever unless it was the first fractal and we haven’t even ran the wisps yet.

back in the CoF days when I was farming it like mad on warrior, I asked this thief who was a friend of this friend that I farm with about how he can kill the gate so fast. He goes on to tell me that he will not share the secret because it is special to him, so during the farm, I kept asking “Do you use mug?”, “Do you use haste”, “gimme some hints” you know all the noob questions. Anyways he then tells me that I am very bad at the game and should uninstall. I then responded “so you think you are pro because you can kill the cof gate in 2seconds.” So then I decided I will play thief because I really wanted to learn how the thief does it. So I experimented and learned it eventually. So a few days later I managed to party with him again and said, “I know how to do the thief gate” and he responded “you are bad, go uninstall” anyways never saw him again. I guess I ruined his special snowflake moment.

Has any1 ever started a mass guilt trip on Anet to get them to release dungeons? For example start a mass petition to donate 10$ to a charity of Anet’s choice if they implement a new dungeon.

I am kinda curious what will happen if the guardianway stays for a few months and if any anti-PHIW-ers will become PHIWers and start complaining about how they feel like they can’t play other comps because of how “slow” it is.

Wow, this set up is surprisingly good and competes pretty well with the meta comp.

Can anyone just get into a RP conversation that is happening? Or do you need to schedule it? It is rather disbelieving when a bunch of people converse like programmed AIs and ignoring what is happening around them. How do I properly get into this conversation loop?

Can confirm, I was playing sonic boon warrior back in the golden age.

Only one way to rectify this patch; self imposed challenges and put an embargo on zerker gear and go rampagers.

well its probably safe to say that traits will be “changing at an alarming rateTM” in the coming weeks. so probably best to hold out for a bit.

1: AC was only slightly slower in group but things still just melted.
2: CM was about the same so I guess the stat nerf and trait buff countered each other out more or less.

3: I found that TA had a significant DPS increase due to the Ele/guard/warrior buffed traits.
