I’ve yet to see a MMO expansion where players log in and have all of their new skills in day 1 and I sure hope this isn’t the first one, don’t let the door hit you on your way out.

Factions.

What? I had to unlock skills in factions.

Yeah…and it took all of 2 hours to unlock all the core class skills.

Amirite?

LOLOL did you even play factions? You have to capture every single skill. I’ve been playing GW1 for 9 years and my skills captured in faction is still only 115/130. And these are only elite skills. You have to unlock the thousands of regular skills… I’m by no means a noob either since I have 35 HOM and 11 titles maxed. I’m working on all 37 titles maxed.

If anything it’d take around 50 hours if you do it quickly and efficiently. Then you have to farm up money to buy skill capture skills which cost 1K each, and as a lol 1, 130k is hard to come by…

GJ spreading false info.

Well considering that the first 2 days contained people like “Grind wars 2” “give me my money back” “such a disappointment” “GG Anet”

Id say calling them toxic is well deserved. This one wasn’t necessarily topic but still whined like one.

Just like the mega critic thread. First ten reviews were 0-5 averaging a 2.3. Then the players that actually played the game came to review and now it’s at a 6.5 and it’s still going up.

You can always tell who the spoiled, snob nosed and entitled people are: the ones who whine at every little impediment and quit, while the real mature people play the game through before reviewing regardless of how good or bad the game is.

No nerf regarding relics, back then you only got 2 fractal relics a day. Now you can get about 5 pristines. The daily fractals you can do:

1 – do the daily fractal level (this is different each day)
2 – do adept daily fractals (do any 3 fractals from lvl 1-20)
3 – do journeyman daily fractals (do any 3 fractals from 21-50)
4 – do master daily fractals (do any 3 fractals from 51-100)
5 – do the bonus daily fractal (different each day)

Keep in mind that each fractal is only 1 run now, not the 3 runs + boss like before.

There is a gold nerf though.

I’m not going to vote till I get into WvW, after I get through this ridiculous pve grind to get my Revenant Herald spec… but if I had to vote today I’d give it a 0. I’ve spent most of the day simply finding ways of getting to the hero challenges, only to find that I need some stupid mastery precursors to get the hero challenge done.

The truth… Most people are so quick to just quit and or give a bad review after playing for about 20 minutes.

Play it through then rate it.

Just a little bit of a warning here:

GW1 is on opposite sides of the spectrum with GW2. COMPLETELY different.

That said, it was still one of the best MMO I have played along with GW2.

THAT said, in order to accomplish anything in GW2, you will need over 1000 hours of work. I personally have 1000 hours of work and only accomplished 1/3rd of the total game. I took my time, but if you really want to rush, 500-1000 may complete the whole game for you.

By complete I do not mean beat it. I mean to finish every aspect to get the best titles/rewards: GWAMM, COTG.

Since I started playing in 2006, it makes sense that I continued to grind those title tracks. It is not worth it IMO to grind those tracks for the sake of GW2 if you have never tried.

If you want to try GW1, then go for it. GW1 is 10 years old, but it is still maintained so well that it is still good. The system reqs are insignificant and yet the graphics are still better than WOW’s latest expa. I mean seriously, the game is beautiful. Sure you can’t jump and use WASD, but then again that was already said as GW2 is completely opposite of GW1. Imagine playing a 3D diablo with actual quests, story lines, community, etc.

GTX 960 is good enough to play GW2. Personally I have the GTX 770 which is a little better than the 960, so I assume the 960 would be able to run GW2 just fine also, since I can run GW2 and another game at the same time without any drawbacks.

I’m not very familiar with AMD cards, but the general consensus should be that AMD makes a lot of noise.

Not quite sure why you would ask people on GW2 forums rather than going to let’s say tom’s hardware or other hardware forums lol. But you install an SSD the same way you do a hard drive. Just plug in the SATA cable to motherboard and link it to the SSD, and then plug that into the power supply.

Hey guys, I just got my weapon,

so my next question is whether I should go for the ascended trinkets that are sold for 20-40 Laurels, or should I convert those laurels to gold and work on my ascended armor first?

Also, I wonder why some ascended trinkets are worse but more expensive:
ie: Legendary master sells trinkets for 40 laurel and 5g, but the stats are 110, 74, 74

but Jocasta sells stuff for 30 laurels, but stats are 157, 108, 108. Weird.

Yeah I also think they’re doing it to sell HoT. Personally I think this is a bad idea.

ANet made a stupid decision to make the core game free. Heck if you want people to test out your game, give them a month of free trial… Heck, give them 2 months…

This was where it all started and caused everything else. They are nerfing dungeons now in order to keep the economy stable for all the new F2P players. It will feel more grindy to these F2P players so they can’t run around with legendaries and ascended gear and what not. People with HoT will have it a bit easier I guess. It ultimately comes back to wanting players to get HoT.

They are going into a direction where they cannot come back from… They will continue to have to balance the economy for all the F2P players.

A better idea would have been to give a month of free trials out and restrict half the game content, while still keeping the price tag. That way they wouldn’t have to go to these extreme lengths to mess with non-broken mechanics.

You keep claiming that I am making assumptions. What are these assumptions?

I’m saying that you asked some pretty stupid yes or no questions and you got yes or no answers. Then you called the guy stupid for answering your questions but not giving you an explanation.

You think I’m happy that they nerfed dungeon rewards? Hell no, I wanted to run those dungeons and get paid.

I’m not confused why they would do this because I can think of a couple of scenarios that are have to deal with game balancing and/or getting profits. I do, however, want to hear their explanation.

Now…

I’m telling you and I cannot be more direct than this. My point is that he’s not going to give you an explanation. He doesn’t care if the reddit forums are in an uproar because he gave the information he is supposed to give and no more than that. There is really no point in calling him stupid for doing his job.

Also, learn to think for yourself instead of relying on people to give you answers.

If that is the case, I’m pretty sure that having not only the forums, but also reddit filled with confusion about his one word answer and people asking why they would admit this is enough reason to go back and answer, which he nor no one else did.

Are you kidding me? They’re not confused about these one word answers. You really think they are confused by them?

“Is this going to happen? Yes”

How do you get confused about that. They are not confused.

They are upset that this is happening… Obviously they want an explanation and they aren’t getting one which only fuels their anger.

I have got to give this guy some credit.

However you may feel about the change itself, this is actually pretty solid community interaction.

But it’s not a solid answer. The question is WHY do this? If Dungeons were infact, very popular, why try to force players to other parts of the game? Whn not actually put resources into new dungeons. So much for “play your way”.

The “community interaction” you speak of is basically:

We are doing this, just cos…..

Except OP didn’t post a question asking WHY. He posted questions asking Are you doing this, Is this happening. Is that happening. All which were answered thoroughly.

Fair enough but it is blindingly obvious 95% of people would want to know why. He gave a one worded answer to a pretty kitten good question, that required a much more elaborate response. It may be “communtiy interaction”, but it it isn’t good or informative.

Yes, not having the brains to think to oneself that maybe I should explain what I mean here is in fact being ignorant.

You sound like one of those people who question the governments secret activities then call the government stupid because they don’t tell you what they’re doing.

Or when you ask your friends to go out and then they say they have plans and then you keep inquiring. They’re the stupid ones for not answering you right?

John Smith is stupid because he doesn’t answer a question that ANet probably didn’t have an answer for or didn’t want to reveal. Yes… He’s the stupid one.

Ooooh the assumptions are stronk in this one about my personal life! I’m an avid reader of news and try to keep up with politics, about the friends thing I’m not sure what you mean there but sounds like to you asking questions are baed… more sad faces :::(((

If I was John here would be a simple way to fix a lot of anger due to lack of response:

‘Yes, because blah blah blah’
‘Yes, but I am not at liberty to say atm’
‘Yes, but this will be revealed why to you shortly’

One word answers to something important are ignorant.

If you want to get answers you have to be smart enough to ask the right questions.

Also, learn to think for yourself instead of relying on people to give you answers.

I think they gave a response regarding the economy of the game or something, but who really knows. I personally think they just want people to buy HoT.

Still, Anet never ever gives a direct answer to anything and they really don’t give a crap whether or not people are raging. So we really won’t know how bad the dungeon rewards are nerfed until HoT comes out.

Nonetheless…

The official announcement was that there was a lowering of gold reward but it is not stated exactly how much (unless I missed something) and all the other drops would remain.

And then there’s also the fact that dungeons are freaking easy, or at least a lot of them are. Then Raids are said to be hard where one mistake can cause a party wipe or something.

Dungeon difficulty: Medium worth ~1-3G
Raids come out
Raid difficulty: High worth ~1-3G

Now it makes sense to nerf dungeon rewards and make Raids reward high. So it kind of makes sense to me to allocate the rewards from the dungeons to the raids. Of course, this being logical if and only if the Raids will give the same or around the same as the dungeons used to.

It was weird because I was practicing on the dummy and my might never stacked above 5, which was from signet of rage. These dummies are at the town of clayspool and I guess crits didn’t happen on them since I was doing 0 all day.

So basically, my main goal is to:
1. Make sure I use my arcing slice to get berserker power.
2. Make sure I roll around a bit.
3. Make sure I get the criticals in to stack might.

Anything I’m leaving out? And also, when should I take the chance to manually activate my signet of might and fury on my skill bar? and regarding the signet of might that’s activated by signet of mastery, it does the same exact thing as the one on my skill bar?

A couple more questions:

Why does the build say 30 second effect on signet of rage? Mine only is 25 seconds.

Also, how do we stack might? whenever I use a skill rotation, I only have 5 stacks of might and it disappears when Signet of rage wears off.

Edit: I figured out the second question as the build doesn’t really care about might right? It wants the Berserker power from your adrenaline and your endurance?

But why is it 30 second for signet of rage?

Also, does my skill signet of might activate automatically when I hit a foe under 50% or does it mean I get another boon that’s called signet of might, but my own skill is not activated?

I like how you ignore my post about how you are exploited by buying the finer things in life but still stand by that being exploited by spending money on an expansion is stupid and “being blind.”

I did not answer you before because you talked a lot of nonsense, but I will try to explain one last time my point of view.

if you buy a game to play online and it launches a new service that would give an advantage to those who buy it, if everyone buy and you do not buy then you will be at a disadvantage or you pay or you stay in the disadvantage and gets frustrated, to me this sounds like a kind of exploitation, in my opinion just would not be a problem if the new content does not interfere with the old content, I’m not saying that you do not have right to buy a new content or that the company has not right to create new ways to make money, but I have the right to not be harmed by you just because you wanted to pay more.

Now I ask, the players who are using the new elite professions will have access to the same map/channel of WvW/EOTM etc… of to those who have not? if yes then you have my point, if not then have a good game.

Remember your rights ends where my rights begins.

Every other mmo raises the lvl cap with it’s expansion making anyone who buys the expansion 10 times stronger then someone who doesn’t, yet you never hear anyone mention pay to win, people think it’s normal. GW2 doesn’t do this, for very good reason, and then it’s somehow ok to expect perfect balance, because otherwise the game is pay to win?
Who are we kidding here?

It appears Speedyfox has only played free to play games before where the expansion was given to him for free. He’s never played any of the subscription or buy to play games where the player has to buy the expansion. He thinks what he is used to is the normal state of affairs for MMOs.

Yes i have never bought a game in which I have to pay to be something, if you are used to be exploited i cant do anything for you but I do not accept that, the first thing I see in a game is if I can have access to everything with my own effort, if not I go to another game, afterward I open my wallet, I do not know what it was like in GW1 or any other B2P game and it does not interest me, the purpose of GW2 was exactly that and has been for three years.

Oh god, this is even more ridiculous.

You say we are being exploited because we’re paying for games?

The computer you paid for did not need to be that great. You got this computer to play games, when any working computer would suffice to do work. You got exploited.

Your TV – also not needed. Exploited. Try some newspapers.

Your food – doesn’t need to be that great. So that steak you had that other day, you don’t need that. I suggest the cheapest protein, cheapest fiber, buy some vitamin gummies, and then some carbs. Otherwise, you got exploited.

That place you live in. Humans don’t need that much space. Exploited.

Why are you accepting paying for all of this when you cannot accept paying for a game?

Question. If WoW were to bring out an expansion that gives the purchasers 10 more levels and they completely own the non buyers in PvP, is that p2w?

I have no idea, only online games I play is LoL and GW2 because they are not pay to win, you pay for vanity. (PC wise anyway) But if you mean you could up your 80 rank in GW2 to level 90, then yes that would be pay to win, you’re paying for better stats which would make you stronger.

At the other guy: I understand with expansions comes lots of shiny new things, such as new skills, but those skills are currently stronger than the counterparts, so to be on par with it I’ll essentially have to pay $72 to keep up and to be just as effective. That part feels like Pay to Win, where as receiving a glider and a few maps would not be, but because it effects our skills directly that would essentially be pay to win in my books as it greatly separates payers from non-payers.

This is where my confusion comes in…

Then that would mean LOL is pay to win too since an opponent paying for cool 25 dollar skins would give me the mental image that the guy is pro with that champion so I will automatically have a few percent lower in confidence, therefore affecting my game play and ultimately affecting my chances of winning.

We buy stuff in the gem store mostly for aesthetic reasons, maybe sometimes to make game play a tad bit more convenient. But mostly just to look cool. We have costumes, and hats, and scarves and cool wings and what not. We have a magic carpet, so why not a horse?

Actually I didn’t really care if it’s 33% as opposed to 50%, I just threw a number out there so it’d make sense as a horse should travel faster than human on foot. Any percentage is fine really, even if it was 0%, they just have to make it make sense, meaning instead of a running horse, it’d be a walking/hopping/jogging horse. Same thing as that magic carpet, 0% speed boost.

Anyway, when did they try out mounts?!

Wow… my least favorite type of retcon. If it was the former, I’d feel less cheated

It should have went like this

Elder Dragons last reign (11000 years ago)

While that’s more or less what the Priory claims, evidence points to the last dragon reign being circa 2000 BE rather than 10,000 BE.

It seems that since the Gods came and left, they had no idea that the Dragons even existed. They built the city of Arah on top of Zhaitan because Zhaitan leaked out magic and they thought that place was fit for their city and what not.

While it’s likely the gods didn’t know the exact location of the Elder Dragons, they did know of them. There is also indication that they did not build Arah – or at least, they did not build the beginnings of it – as parts of Arah existed before the Six Gods supposedly came to Tyria (see Altar of Glaust and Arah Forgotten path).

The bloodstones were created to seal most of the magics of the earth due to Tyrians using magic to wage war on each other. Then King Doris begged the gods to take away the magic.

Old GW1 lore that’s been retconned. The original Bloodstone was where the magic that Abaddon unleashed came from, and it was created by the Seers during the previous dragonrise to house all non-corrupted magic to force them to go to sleep early. See Arah Seer path.

Oh wow I’m super behind in lore then. Where can I read the new lore? Or do I find it in the game as I progress (I’m only lvl 44, but I really liked the lore so I searched it up. Also a long time GW1 player).

When you say retconned, does the story mention it or are we supposed to just accept the retcon? Like, does the story say “Oh we found a scroll to prove X wrong, so it must be Y”?

I’m with Konig. The Bloodstone was designed as a weapon to starve the Elder Dragons to sleep. Abaddon wanted to use the Bloodstone to return magic to the world, which would effectively undo what the Seers attempted to do and, as we know now, eventually wake the dragons back up.

He also purposely targeted Orr and took it out, which was a HUGE benefit to Zhaitan who woke up with no resistance and was able to move right in.

If anything Abaddon seems to have paved the way for the Elder Dragon’s awakening.

?? I was under the assumption that the Elder Dragons were not known about when Night Fall occurred.

It should have went like this

Elder Dragons last reign (11000 years ago)
Exodus of Gods (1300 years ago)
Searing (250 years ago)
Factions (~250 years ago)
Night Fall (Abaddon tries to rise, and then Kormir ascends, ~250 years ago)
EoTN (Destroyer) (~250 years ago)
Primordus wakes (Sometimes later and this is when Elder Dragons became news) (~150 years ago)
Now

It seems that since the Gods came and left, they had no idea that the Dragons even existed. They built the city of Arah on top of Zhaitan because Zhaitan leaked out magic and they thought that place was fit for their city and what not.

If this is true, then that means Abaddon did not give the magic to Tyrians to fight the Dragons.

The bloodstones were created to seal most of the magics of the earth due to Tyrians using magic to wage war on each other. Then King Doris begged the gods to take away the magic. The bloodstone was eventually created with a little part of his blood and it was thrown into a volcano where no one can get it. Years later, the volcano erupted and the bloodstone shattered into 5 pieces and it spread out into the continent of Tyria and magic was once again shown.
