Again, read the above posts. I know it’s hard to read through it, but please, just do it.

It’s simple. Right now, i can either spend 1000g to gear all my characters, run the same dungeon on all 8 characters in 1 day (yes, it is extreme) or have multiple runs on several characters. This can result in me obtaining my gear how i see fit. Aka.. i can be the “no lifer”. Or, i can do 3 paths a day, take my time, get gear. Aka…i’m the “casual / normal person”.

Now… a very poorly, but easy to understand time gating definition: when I do not have an option and must do what the game tells me or else i have no gear. In other words, when i cannot get something the way i want it and must wait x months for it.

It doesn’t take 8 times as longer for me to progress. It takes more because every class can have multiple builds, designed for certain activities like dungeons, fractals, wvwvw etc etc. Each character takes ages in the fashion of “you can only do this once per day, because this way it’s fair for everyone”.

First of all, it ruins it for new players. They cannot catch up with other players even if they want to invest the effort.
Second of all, creates unbalance even in WvW (when not in a huge ZvZ).
Third, it ruins it for those who want to invest the time and effort – we must do this once per day like everyone else – basically we cannot be better than anyone else as the game won’t allow it.
Fourth – did you make your legendary? It can take 8 months or it can take 2 weeks. YOU HAVE THE CHOICE.

Time gating forces players to log in or be behind. Time gating does not allow players to think, make choices, play the game as they want to play it.

Lol guys. Just use exotics. Even if your alts have zero asc equipment you are losing 5% of stats – its ok. Top level gear should always be hard to obtain.

PS for all of wow gear system fans out there: It is very hard to have all slots top level equiped main in wow. And I think that there are less than 100 people in the world with top geared alt in wow.

If you would have read the above posts, then this message would not exist. No, it is not ok – not everyone is happy to be mediocre/sub-par/average. Some players want to have the best available armor.

We all agree it should take time – but not IMPOSED time. It should be hard to obtain, make you work for it etc. But, should i desire to spend 1000g on having it in one day, this option should be available. With the 1/day system, this cannot happen and is locked out.

The time gating limits the player to only one character and one set of gear only. This means i cannot even have my main geared up properly and limit myself to one set of gear. I have 3 sets and play both PvE and WvW. I use different sets there. Do i have to choose? I mean really, when fractals came out, it split the players into two. The time gating also does that in a way.

As for wow method – you never saw alts fully geared? What else do you do when your main is fully geared? Or when your raid requires a healer? I’ve had two speccs with BIS and an alt with BIS because the system allowed me to. I had to go to raids on both and work for it, but i could do it.

Even the current GW2 dungeon system proves that character based stuff can be made. 60 badges per path, per character. Multiple runs can be made on the same path either with the same character (but with diminishing returns) or on other characters. This allows someone to get their set fast or slow – however they desire.

What is wrong with that system? It gives us options. In the end, this thread is about how players with multiple specs or characters are getting told off by the system and ANET for playing the game, having bought character slots and being dedicated.

And for the love of god, stop posting unless you have something constructive to add. We get it – we can use exotics, the difference in stats do not matter etc etc… we get you and we already stated our view on that matter. Repeating the same thing over and over again will lead nowhere.

I don’t know, open-world pve? Dungeons? Fractals? WvW? Jumping Puzzles? You know, the same sort of stuff we’ve had fun doing before a new tier of gear was added to the game.

My problem with one a day limits is real life. Some days I have hours to blow on GW2… some days I don’t get to log on. I’d love to spend a lazy Saturday grinding for mats, and nor feel panicky about missing the next six chances.

I suspect that’s the whole intent. It’s a very Zynga-esque method of making people feel they’re missing out if they’re not logging in on a daily basis.

One thing to keep in mind is that once all your characters at lv80 are fully equiped with ascended stuff, there’s pretty much nothing left to do with them. Unless you want to go legendary on all them.

There are people who actually enjoy games in spite of carrots. Their enjoyment of a game stems from the game play and doesn’t cease the moment they’ve got the best gear in the game. Some of these people will be able to continue to enjoying the game play whether they’re in ascended gear or not. But some of these people also want to run dungeons, Fractals, WvW, etc. optimally. And they’re going to prevented from doing so for a long time because of time-gating…the laziest design philosophy a developer can implement.

+1 to you kind sir/lady for understanding.

I enjoy my guardian in PvE mostly because i have choices. I can swap weapons, traits and gear on the fly while doing a certain dungeon, fractal etc… Even for one character, i am LOCKED by the once per day system. I am forced to pick one item at a time, while in fact i use every single weapon and about 3 different armor sets. Should i be punished for playing at my best every time? Should i have to wait days in a row for something?

The design is lazy. While indeed, dedicated players will log in daily, it also feels more and more like a job than a game. I must do the daily, i must do the fractals, i must do the 1/day material, i must do…. and the list goes on.

Now you’ll say “no one is forcing you”. The design itself does if i want to be up to par with everyone else, have the best gear available, offer the best dps/support etc possible. There are people that want to do this, unlike others who only have one character and are happy to play it as is, without bothering about maximizing or thinking how to improve their character even further.

Now you’ll say i can do it even with exotics. True, i can play it even with exotics, i can even go in greens/rares. But i don’t enjoy being lazy about my gear or not investing in the best available.

Now…this is just 1 character. Multiply it by 7. Sure, some require less gearing, but overall, they all require it.

And as a final thought, what happens when your build is changed or they add new traits as they promised? What happens when something new appears and you must change your entire gear? What then? Go back to waiting x days because of the 1/day rule?

I would really love the input of a Dev in this thread, telling us exactly how they plan the 1/day system to function and if it will be account bound – as the quartz.

Just wish you’d actually consider the entire player base…including those who have all characters at 80 or past level 20.

What are we supposed to do with it? I’m still considering if i should just destroy it or keep it in the hopes that one day they’ll change it. Honestly, it’s a good idea, just not well implemented as not everyone can use it – thus it’s not a reward.

Please consider changing the item to either give 20 levels regardless of level or to do something else if you already have every single character at 80 (and yes, i mean all classes).

Any update on this?

Many people use the wind jump due to the conveniently placed wind power up. However, if i use it, i don’t get my reward chest and receive the “due to late start” – even if i was from the start.

This is frustrating. Must do the entire spiral while 90% of the others I’ve competed against don’t have to and get the chest.

It’s not a matter of classes, because the only stability we had was 6 seconds from SYG.
I’m sorry to break it to you, but the reason your party wiped is because you’re bad (this always sounds harsher than it is supposed to, I mean no offense)
Nothing wrong with that, it depends on how much you play the game and depends on your MMO experience in general as well. But what you’re stating in your post is just completely false.

FYI I have over 1600 hours and have leveled all 8 classes to 80 and have spent enough time in game to equip them all in full exotics through various means,mostly just by playing the game and farming. I have completed numerous dungeons, and though many of the paths (SEP2, ACP2) are long, grindy, and difficult, none were less fun or more frustrating than this one.

I am not a bad player. This is a badly-designed dungeon.

Anyone can achieve exotic gear and everyone can play this game for a long time. Those numbers mean nothing. Dungeons can be completed as well, even have a person stay afk or enter at the last boss.

By the above statement, i just wanted to say that it doesn’t matter how much you play, how many characters you level or what dungeons you completed. It doesn’t state your skill, just your dedication.

As for the dungeon itself and that encounter, i suggest you reconsider the “bad design” and look at how to improve. Pull/push can be avoided easily if you actually look at your target and see the animation. If you see the robot about to spin, move out of its melee range, simple as that. More so, cripple/immobilize it. If you see it about to pull, either dodge if you are close or use stability. You don’t need stability through the entire fight. You just need to know when to dodge and how to keep your distance when required.

Swiftness is a good way to keep moving. In phase 3, you need to jump on crates occasionally. A good advise is to all stay on the same side and try to burst the mobs and not let them hit the line – as it makes them invulnerable. Just kite and constantly move, dodge when required, jump on crates and you should be able to do it.

I’m sure there are plenty of players who organize groups for this dungeon. More so, in the hours played you must have encountered some good players. Form a group of people who play well together – it makes it easier. And of course, you can always make a LFG thread and ask for players who can survive the encounter.

Unfriendly skies achievement is bugged

You have 15 minutes since the fight started. If you wipe, it’s gone.

There is a bug that shows the timer and the bridge does not spawn – but this is only when you wiped and the second time you did get it under 15 minutes.

The ship does indeed leave during the fight, but it doesn’t affect the achievement – as you pick up the cannon, run to the ship, press F and watch a short cinematic.

1. You should be able to not bug it if only one person opens the door and the rest use the bottom door. So far, out of over 30 runs, it never bugged for me. But yes, they should fix it.

2. It is a bit boring and Horrik really doesn’t do much, but i guess the first times it was fun. Plus, keeps you on your toes with the dodge

3. We always had them spawn from the same location and we always stand in the same position, never once having an issue. Just learn where it spawns and you’ll do fine.

4. Don’t really see an issue here, either have evade skills, look at their animation to avoid push/pull, CC or stability. Regardless, if aware, you never have any issue. I always keep my distance. It’s a more range oriented fight – with that i agree.

5. If you want another COF, just do COF. It just means that you need other utility skills and to learn how to adapt. I see no issue with some more burst mobs or condition ones. At least it requires a person to look at their health, not just mindless whack mobs.

I’ve got my achievement yesterday evening. I was the one who “tanked” Mai (or rather attempted to keep Mai in the blue circle), thus enjoying the full AOE power of Horrick during that time (the ground combat phase).

During the cannon phases, we split the group as follows:
1 person north
1 person south
1 person east
1 person west
1 person center

This way, we just had to move left/right or forward/back and ocasionally dodge when too many circles. It was relaxing and easy. Note that one issue can appear – even if you do avoid all the circles, there is a chance that the projectile hits you before it hits the circle…so you need to either have an Asura (kinda little to get hit) or be careful to not stand in the path of the projectile (aka know where the projectiles come from).

We had a person take a hit mid-air and lost the achievement due to that.

As for the difficulty, it’s not too hard, just badly explained. Even average players can get it. And if it’s too hard to actually dodge and properly position, then sorry, but not all achievements have to be completed by every single being – that’s why they are achievements.

Yes. You need to go to the same level or higher if you want to progress.

Yes, you get more fractal relics from higher levels.

You can get the ascended back piece anytime you have the relics for it. You can also buy the rings via laurels. The amulet / accessories etc are also available. But for level 10, 0 agony resist is ok. I wouldn’t be too worried.

I’ve completed the requirements for the legendary in late November, all but the precursor.
At first, i gambled.
Needless to say, my good fortune is somewhere secretly locked by an evil being as i have had no luck.

I stopped gambling for a while and gathered some gold, tried to enjoy the game. Got caught up in fractals etc etc…
The scavenger hunt gave me some hope, but after the lovely announcement (“it’s not coming anytime soon”), my hopes shattered..again.

I went to the Mystic Toilet to flush some more rares and exotics. Pointless of course.

For the last month, I’ve been gathering gold..slowly increasing the amount gained. But do i really want to spend ~700 gold on a precursor and give the “lucky” ones or the “hoarders” who buy and re-sell? Not really.

I’m highly disappointed not just by the precursor, but by the entire experience. Except the world explore and the dungeons, the rest is a sad grind. I look back and regret starting the “epic journey to be”.
Due to the changes implemented, i now have almost all the requirements for a second legendary weapon. It feels “epic”, so “epic” that the word “ni hao” can’t even describe it.

PS:
My last attempt was 500 rare staffs. The results were 0 exotics, 0 precursors, at 30 silver a staff (which is under the value it was when i attempted the “toilet” and still is).

Yup, same, around the dye patch i noticed error 7 for the first time, but it didn’t really bother me as it only occurred a couple of times. However ever since the karka event.. i can’t do anything anymore, code 7 every single time i spend 10-30 minutes in-game. Kicks me out to character select :\

Same error as everyone. It started after the karka event patch.

- No gw account
- Romania
- Monday – Friday from 18.00 till 2-3 am (GMT+2)
- Saturday – Sunday – well, mostly all day

I never had this issue till that patch and now i can’t do anything. Fractals.. get dc-ed usually after 1st one or 2nd.. dungeons, random dcs every time destroying my rewards, pvp..great fun to lose a tournament due to it. All i can is level and even that isn’t great, with all the " oh look, you’re actually not online right now – you got dc-ed 20 meters further back… "

I have all ports forwarded, didn’t help. Firewall disabled / uninstalled.. nothing. Router taken out of the picture.. nope. This is making the game unplayable.

I’m currently on a small “coffee, stretch and get ready” break from Fractals. However, i did reach difficulty level 8 with half friends, half PuGs. To be quite honest, some people indeed suck at jumping puzzles. So? Just be patient.
Some people do not follow orders. I don’t either, i find that ordering and being the boss can be quite annoying..especially in a dungeon that everyone is discovering. Just shouting orders and barking at people for learning will only get yourself angry and them sick of you.
Not full exotic. Oh no…unless you’ve reached a high difficulty level, exotic gear is really not an issue.

Be chill and stop asking for the perfect group. I had my share of players unable to react / respond / think (fast, not in general). And yet…made it this far and will go on further.

They have some neat mechanics, but overall their damage and defense are too high.
Specially their damage.
It’s so high, that they can kill themselves when you reflect that attack that spits several water bullets, giving mesmers a massive advantage against them.

Yes, because only mesmers have reflect. My goodness…their damage is so high..my poor glass cannon geared character or low level alt cannot survive. Stop the QQ and actually try to analyze what you can do to improve your survivability. I for one had no issues with the mobs there.

Will you guys stop complaining? Learn to survive with your MF gear. If not, grab some food. Dungeons were boring and easily done with full proper stats exotic gear, at least this way i might bother running more dungeons.

You can farm Orr for hours and not receive a single rare in full MF gear, whereas you’re guaranteed to receive 1.5g from AC.

Magic find increases the chance…by a small chance. Stop crying over it.

You can farm them, with a confirmed % on drop rate that is not terrible.
If working for the legendary, you can get them from the mystic clover recipes.
You can just play the game, gather gold, buy some.
Why do people feel the need to complain? Some T6 mats were almost at vendor price. That was something to cry about. How at least you know you can make a profit out of them.

Prices will drop once those who bought XXX number of T6 mats for the new patch realise the recipes most likely won’t require them..or at least not all recipes (no clue so I’m presuming).

Stop crying and go kill mobs, you’ll see them drop.

So much speculation going on. “OMG, they’re giving them for free”. Seriously? They will most likely ( i do not claim that this is what they will do ) increase the chance by a small number (ex: from 0.01 to 0.02). Stop being drama queens.

And excuse me if this makes me glad, but I have everything i need except the precursor which costs 420g at the moment. I’ve lost all interest in the legendary as I cannot afford to pay that much and so far, i’ve been unlucky when it comes to the forge.

And again, sorry, but world first legendaries and a lot of legendaries were made with precursors bought for 9-20g and precursors obtained via the exploitation method that was fixed (godskulls for example), not 400g.

So stop trolling, kittening and wait for the patch. It will not be as dramatic as you all expect. Legendaries mean more than just a precursor.

Lupicus fight, 3 mesmers. Was the best laugh i had in ages. Poor thing didn’t know which one was the real thing.

You don’t need guardians, yes – guardians can survive through a lot without relying on dodge or too many other skills that grant immunity etc, but any composition can beat him. You just need a lot of ranged damage as it’s melee unfriendly.

Shocking how you cannot do this unless you have:
1. a thief or a necro to keep poison up
2. zerkers…oh yay, let’s all spend gold on getting a set just for this boss
3. warriors – this might go into point number 2, but for the sake of it, you need warriors for that stupid kitten encounter that has no love for the so called " you can play whatever you want, but you’ll never do kitten "

I am fed up, it’s 4.30 am here and guess what. I’m looking at Dwayna priestess. Thank you for a lovely waste of time. If we like playing condition dmg builds, support builds etc…we have no chance in hell to beat her.

This is the only path I’m missing and frankly, why should I even bother? I play with a support build, i cannot " burst " the crap out of a boss even if i wanted.

I am glad Arenanet designed this encounter and tested it properly with something other than warriors. Oh wait…….

Now i will end this " rage post " with the following:
I don’t want to spend so much gold / time on a proper berserker set
I don’t want to spend xxx days levelling a warrior
I don’t enjoy the " hit the invisible boss till it drops dead :" tactic (and you need raw dps, not support/condition dmg builds)
I am fed up with how many bugs this game has.

Fix the kitten encounter please.

To be honest, as a member and an officer in the guild, i have to agree that the system is good and bad. It’s good because it allows you to have a pvp, pve and a rp guild for example. Some people like the feature because of that.

I don’t. I’ve seen so many people join, notice that our guild is small-medium sized (100-120 players), stay for however long we have boosts up then go represent another guild for their boosts.

Most people don’t give a kitten loyalty in this game to a guild is nothing really.

@ SkuDDer – no one was talking about WvW. Balance in WvW is lol when people run with their level 2-20 alts and kitten gear. I was talking about sPvP.

Furthermore, " no one speccs 20 points in Virtues " is a statement you cannot make. Instead of QQ whine and what not, how about you go trait 20 points and see how it goes?

You have Shelter, an awesome skill that makes the thief useless. You have a nice shield that knocks him away from you. You have protection most of the time up. You have 2 blocks just from 1 skill, 1 more (without bug) from mace, 3 from focus, 1 from shout (if you enjoy it, depending on composition etc).
You have so much survivability versus a thief. I got jumped without my aegis up in 8v8, while i was solo running. I blocked his backstab by pressing 1 button. Yes, i actually moved to counter the thief, not be amazed at where he came from.

Seriously, if you as a guardian complain (and yes, i saw your " nerf backstab" thread), then YOU are the one doing it wrong. No offense, but i have yet to be killed in sPvP by a thief without me doing something wrong.

One thing i learned in PvP – standing still, moving in a straight line, not watching your back is only your fault. I love to jump, spin, move constantly..it helps to see around and avoid a free hit.

@Ragnarox – I played for two hours sPvP to see why people complain so hard about thiefs and i saw maximum 2-3 thiefs on a server at a time.

If people really think thiefs are a problem, create a thread to debate that issue with other users, in your own class thread. It’s not hard – ask for how others counter them. I’m sure quite a few players know how to counter thiefs and are happy to provide suggestions on how to improve your build or your game play.

What me, the OP and several other players are saying is stop the QQ and ask for nerfs and start asking yourself on how to improve / counter builds. It’s unfair to thiefs to shout every single build is OP. How would you feel if you were the one being nerfed every single patch?

This is coming from a person that has never had any problems versus thief. Before I go further on with my post, here are some basic questions answered:
1. I am not a thief
2. I have never played a thief, nor will I any time soon
3. I have tested several professions in both SPvP and TPvP

If after reading several lines in this post you feel the urge to post, please don’t and finish reading it. Furthermore, don’t turn this thread into another "OMG OP THIEFS! " thread, i have read far too many and it’s becoming a joke.

Now, on to the actual post:

The irony is that half the other classes (professions) have skills that bug out, that have bugs and cannot be used, traits that are not fully functional. I, as a player and a tester, do not understand the reason behind nerfing the thiefs time after time.
It is true that i have not played SPvP as much as others, but from the time i have played it, 90% of the player base run with glass cannon builds and expect to live more than 5 seconds of being focused.

It is sad that GW2 wants to become an e-sport while also listening to all the QQ thrown at the thief from players that, most of the time, play builds that work well only when not focused.

I am not accusing ANet of anything, but it feels that they really listen to 8v8 hotjoin random crap posts. Please…stop. The moment you nerfed 1 thief build, posts on the next build appeared. Literally…minutes.

Players know only how to moan, sigh and rage at the unfairness of it. How is it fair to be instagibbed you ask? It’s simple. Take a minute and actually try to understand what happened to you:
1. Was i low on health? No. => That means that if you got “1 shotted” (defined by the moments it took the thief to take you to 0% hp), you need more vitality/ more toughness / maybe in some cases more awareness.

2. I was full health, running a defensive build and still got instagibbed.

Stop standing still, semi-afk. There is no way for a thief to kill you with a defensive build (traits/skills/stats included) and at full health.

Thiefs are a joke right now against a lot of professions. There are many counters to the backstab build and IF you manage to avoid/outlive their burst, you’ll notice they are so squishy that it makes you wonder how you missed it before.

I did runs with full MF, without MF…made no difference.
23rd run: exotic level 76
24th run: exotic level 78
31st run: the mad moon
The rest, up to 53 runs, greens, revive orb, trade merchant, TP summon, boosters, one key, heavy loot bags.

shrug Took ~40-45 minutes to solo on my guardian, considering she’s built as support. The reward was a waste of time, but i did it for the achievement and due to not being able to join my party.

I don’t need more than my achievement. Stop shouting for free loot and go do something. It’s already bad enough someone people got a 200g+ item from it that is supposed to be crafted.

Then the simple, blunt answer is that you just won’t be able to complete it. All content does not come with a pre requisite that it must be able to be done by anyone no matter what. As others have noted in this thread, it’s very doable. Nerfing it would make it trivial. This is a learning process, but if after 5 hours you aren’t nearly completing it, or progressing, then it just isn’t for you.

This is a really really really bad attitude to take. Sorry, but, uh, yeah, everything should be able to be completed by 100% of the playerbase. If you cater to a small crowd of blowhards who insist everything must be difficult and can only be achieved through hours of grinding, a huge majority of players become disillusioned with the game.

If they don’t find the game fun, they stop playing. When they stop playing, they aren’t supporting the game through expansion purchases or gem store goods. And what should be more relaxed and fun than a simple holiday event?

I mean, I haven’t tried Reaper Rumble yet (couldn’t get into it for some reason), but Lunatic Inquisition is pretty much one of the most fun things I’ve done in this game.

I guess you’ve never played any real games, have you now? Just your statement that everything should be completed by everyone is pure genius.

Let’s put it this way, if Player Y lost all his fingers except 1, every gaming company MUST nerf the content so it can be played with only 1 finger right?

Now to end the sarcasm caused by one of the most wrong statements ever said, let’s move on to why i actually bothered posting here in the first place.

I loved this jumping puzzle. It was exciting, frustrating, fun, addictive. After learning where and how to jump, i didn’t give a kitten about norns, charrs or anything else.

It was a great experience, to actually work for something. One of the few things you actually need to work (not grind) for. I advise everyone to try it – it’s not as hard as it looks, it just requires you to remember where you jumped and how.

Computer shut down

Issue: Computer shuts down during gameplay (dragon events, underwater combat, random mob killing on the map).

Notes:
1. This issue never occurred during the beta weekend events
2. This issue only occurs in guild wars 2
3. This issue is not caused by heat (I’ve been monitoring temperatures constantly trying to figure it out )
4. Drivers are up to date
5. Nothing is overclocked
6. Have tried re-install for anything i could think of

Computer information:

Intel Core I7-3770k CPU
32G RAM
GTX 690
Gigabyte G1 Sniper 3 motherboard
Windows 7 64 bit

From the tests i’ve performed, the animation on high is causing this for some reason.

I’m looking for a fix to it except keeping my animation setting on low.
