If you’re going full hybrid, adventurer isn’t bad because it’s offensive and has defensive built in.
Honestly, I would play around with on-elite-use runes because with CS it’s basically once ever 45-ish (if you maintain max alacrity).
For your traits, just keep in mind that evasive mirror can be useful in some scenarios. Time Catches Up seems useless in my opinion since your illusion gen is going to be close-combat and even if it’s far it’s not a big deal to wait a moment longer.
If you’re running a Scepter anyways, I much prefer Malicious Sorcery over Ineptitude since it lets you pump out your Scepter rotation faster (which is going to be invaluable considering how much you’re casting as a Chrono).
And lastly, Blink is unnecessary in HoT because of Time Marches On and Masteries.
There’s no reward other than the suit and you can enter or leave them at will (unless you don’t have the mastery).
Personally I run Ill/Du/Chr full glass and I don’t really go down.
Ignore the stats, I run full Assassins except what can’t (Backpack and Amulet). I run Sigil of Energy on Mainhand sword for survivability. Second sigil is currently Accuracy but is useless with my stat setup.
You don’t need to run Pistol, I just prefer the speed of the interrupt, along with the ranged Phantasm against certain mobs (paired with 100% crit chance it’s a good amount of bleeds). I swap to Sword offhand very, very often. It’s whatever I feel like. Rarely I’ll swap to Greatsword here.
Sword Shield is very safe, you have the double interrupt on 5, double blocks on 4 (you can easily run into telegraphed attacks to gain another 2s of block, especially the ground effects in Maguuma) and Blurred Frenzy. If you’re still in trouble, use Distortion and your other defensive abilities will be up again. Don’t forget to get 8 wells out when you’re in a pinch or fighting a large group. Start with Elite and work your way down to Heal. When you’re out of CS, repeat but with only wells and not Elite. I use my heal last because then the final pulse happens a bit after the Shift ends which gives me time to reposition if I get pushed away at the end.
Other than that, you have a lot of dodges and you can get easy clone generation with DE + Alacrity (for Leap/Swap).
You could probably get more damage running Dom over Duel, but that bonus crit chance and clone generation is really nice. Just be careful of overriding Phants (worst case scenario, just spam Shatters to use up Chronophantasma, once you get the hang of it, the generation becomes second nature).
And? It might be really difficult for the other person to press F 2 times instead of 1, but I think they’ll survive.
i dont understand… what mesmes skill procs it then ?
Interrupting means you interrupt a skill. You have to use a disabling skill (CC like Stun, Daze, Knockback, Pull, etc) WHILE they are using a skill.
Stunning and daze will work as long as it interrupts. CC does not inherently apply an interrupt.
Portal Entrance – > Mimic – > Portal Exit – > Wait – > Portal Entrance → Portal Exit
Toss in a blink wherever you want.
Alacrity is capped at 30 seconds, which is fair considering how hard it is to stack.
Is there a source on this?
I got to 39s while doing No Refuge. It could be a stack cap with the majority of stacks filled with 1-2s.
With Chronomancer, you have very little waiting and actually have more to do if you stay in combat. Of course, the leveling process is extremely painful.
There’s a few problems with the game right now as they’ve been having slight connection issues during the day and it got worse with the latest hotfix. Just sit tight and get a mango. Things should clear up soon.
I like armor that shows off my kitten.
If you use the second portal, it will always reset the cooldown of portal.
If you don’t use the second portal, when the duration of the initial portal ends, the cooldown will be based off when you dropped the first portal.
Tl;dr: Everytime you place a portal (entrance or exit), the cooldown goes off.
The poor are poor because they act rich and the rich are rich because they act poor.
Why y’all being so expensive. Just spec chrono and run around with Mimic Blink (don’t use CS unless you’re doing a JP).
Remember when phantasmal haste made the warden spin continuously?
Remember when warden spun in place unless he lost LoS with his target?
Because you use +’s, if you want to get rid of it, include
[pre] at the beginning and [/pre] at the end of your post.
Or just disable Textile.
There are a few other bad animations like downed Ele Churning Earth or other abilities that scale up with size.
As for the Caud Manor comments, I would say as a Mesmer to just drop Wardens (if you sync them, you won’t get hurt) being careful if they’re traited since projectiles inside reflects can hit targets if they are spawned on the target without having to move. With Vicky, you could (and should) just be auto attacking while she stealths and the default knockback from auto attacks will actually prevent her Death Blossom from moving her (although it will still hit targets standing directly near her). You can get away with not getting hit by being at near max melee range… or just slot a condi-cleanse.
Do/Du/Ins S/F + /P/S PvE build. Swap in Ill and Chaos when necessary (stealth, running, ranged kiting, scepter things).
Will probably go Chr/Du/Ins or Chr/Du/Ill when HoT comes out.
Tbh I think it’s way strong. I think it would be balanced if it didn’t apply the blur to a downed body, that way they could still poison/cleave to try and prevent the res. This way it’s literally a free res every time you use it.
Yeah, this is potentially over the top. Potentially.
I hope not… I think kitten is fine as it is.
edit: why does “45” “s” get kittenized?
The kitten filter will always trigger on specific “naughty” words. But it also randomly triggers on innocent words, by design, presumably because it’s funny.
Off-topic because 4 is A and 5 + s = SS.
Although you can just say Assassin gear but no shortened form (that is to say something shorter than assass.
Could you perhaps time it with something other than your head? Such as using buffs to assist (Harmonious Mantras duration) or taking a video and using timestamps?
I’m surprised they didn’t make it so you had to run up to it and finish it.
Only with burning or guardian burning (because giant blue and red flames make it really hard for me to see animations).
Pulse heals whenever you heal for over X amount. If healing is done less than X amount, it will count towards X amount until reached.
This allows usage of Vampiric Aura, Regen, Lifesteal Foods, and other things to proc it, but resets if and when it activates (even via healing skill).
Or… let’s… agree never to get creative again…

But standing in a Chaos Storm breaks PU.
Alpha, pls, DH is running 6/6/6/6/6/6
Makes you think how nice it would be if you could see a breakdown of top 3 or so most played professions/characters per account (or a full breakdown in profile).
And then when he swapped to PvE, his build changed and he was hacked again!
Have you considered using a mobile authenticator or an email authenticator instead of sms verification?
Pyro you also forgot to rub the thieves nose in the -25% damage reduction they get from the SA line as a minor which is arguably better than all the boons from PU.
Except swiftness… cause mesmer is slow…. or we could always use travel runes… but man vamp so good to burst and leave role…
YOU CAN GET FREE +25% BY RUNNING CHRONOLOLOLOL…
My suggestion: Multiple attacks against a target apply a stacking debuff that causes it to take increased damage from the Mesmer and its illusions. Attacking another target will reset the debuff to the new target.
Won’t work due to cleaves and (if it stacks from illusion damage as well) illusion cleaves.
You’ll swing once and the stacks will reset before your next swing.
What I would suggest (to change your suggestion) would be to make a 2/3-way interacting debuff system where:
Damaging an enemy with your own abilities (non conditions) applies an intensity stacking debuff that increases damage dealt by Phantasms slightly.
Damaging an enemy with a phantasm applies an intensity stacking debuff that increases damage dealt by the Mesmer slightly.
Both debuffs increase damage dealt by Clones greatly.
The duration of an ability does not affect the cooldown.
It’s not so much that people can use it without going into stealth, it’s that while in stealth people can use it just as effectively and make it a pain to kill a Mesmer and it’s not a very good playstyle.
If there was a condition tied, like “Clones killed after the first 5s of creation apply conditions when killed.” then it could be more fair.
Or make it so that the effect does not occur unless a Clone is killed by a damaging attack and not due to over-spawning illusions.
Intentional. Unfortunately, it has been asked since launch.
Why is it intentional
It’s a relic band-aid that has not yet been re-addressed. In Beta you were able to run back and forth and stack infinite swiftness, so they made it only applicable when you had no swiftness. They have yet to re-address the lack of reliable swiftness a mesmer can get (because even half a second of swiftness can screw you over for the next 15s).
Why not a combination based on time spent inside the well.
Note: Each pulse should be per-target, meaning you start with pulse 1 effect, even if you enter during the final pulse.
First pulse: Pull.
Second pulse: Chill.
Third pulse: Cripple.
Fourth pulse: Float.
Maybe different things, but that’s just what I can come up with off the top of my head while distracted by eating spicy food.
I couldn’t really take him seriously after that.
I didn’t take him seriously and I never knew about that until just now.
However, many players (including many Mesmer players) tend to feel like PU’s 100% increased stealth duration is not only a bit too powerful, it’s cheap and not fun to deal with (i.e. dampens the fun of the game. See: Turret Engineer.)
Da hwut? The Prestige is silly because of the stealth duration you get from it with PU, but that’s not op since you’re not doing anything except stealthing. Running PU in WvW is strong because stealth is a get out of jail free card and the longer the duration, the more freedom you have.
In PvP, the point is to get the job done, not drop all your damage for suvivability (unless that survivability is just plain dumb, cough this cough and used for the sole purpose of trolling the enemy team or pressuring a point, which low access to moderate durations of stealth does not do).
The general concensus is that PU is not OP.
They show every build on both teams before each match, and yes, PU Mesmer is the standard meta right now.
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Mesmer_-_PU_ShatterI’m really glad you linked MetaBattle, because it nakedly reveals your fundamental fallacy: the complete inability to distinguish between “in meta” and “overpowered”.
But-but every build on MB is viable and stronk!
Is there any use for Shield? I find it’s so niche that it’s basically never used. The only time I might use Shield is if I’m headless chickening vs Lupi as a Warrior, but even then a Warhorn is better.
Well… in PvP there is!
Perhaps new content in HoT will be designed so you can no longer ignore your own survivability, in which case shields may make a comeback.
But I doubt it.
Most “challenginng PvE content” involves unblockable things that kill anything that isn’t mid-roll (or out of the AoE).
So yeah, I doubt it. (And warriors use shield in pvp?)

Except the revenant doesnt share boons it pulses them.
The revenant has a lot of on demand utility. But as a result it is generally inferior to its the counterparts from the main classes. We have access to all boons in game. Revenant does not. We can share quickness, vigor, resistance, retaliation, aegis better than it.
I made a revenant and a Chronomancer. The Chronomancer was the superior boon support by far.
lol I’d love to know what dps build you’re running that’s giving your allies 10 might and perma fury.
you get perma fury from the dueling tree, and might stacks of that high or greater from illusions + strength runes/pack runes/travelers or frequent greatsword+ that trait. then just use the signet 1-4 times and tada.
Obviously your post has nothing to do with PvE, as usual. Because the meta PvE build is dom/dueling/chrono. No illusions, and mesmers don’t use anything but scholar runes. Fury from dueling comes on mobs with under 75% health, so for the first 25% hp of a raid boss you are generating no fury.
I don’t even know why I bothered responding when as usual it’s gimmick WvW builds.
BUT YOU CAN MAINTAIN SUPER HIGH GS STACKS OF MIGHT BY SITTING STILL AND PRESSING 1. THAT’S OP.
BUT THEY GAVE CHRONOMANCERS THE 25% MOVESPEED WE ALWAYS WANTED LOLOLOLOL.
I don’t know anymore…
Didn’t you get the memo? Moa no longer prevents stomps or resses. And I do love a 6/6/6/6/6 build, haven’t seen that for a while really.
Oldtimers know that it’s the good ol’ 30/30/30/30/30 build
Technically it’s a 123,123,123/123,123,123/123,123,123/123,123,123/123,123,123/123,123,123 build now.
I don’t think it’s supposed to be able to block arrows. I may be wrong.
I don’t think it’s supposed to do that, I think that was a developer getting confuzzled from all the stuff they working on (got it confused with guard arrow maybe?)
I don’t mind them being enemy targets (with the exception of Defender and Disenchanter), but I’d like to be able to ground-cast them (and in the case of Warden, have him revert to the super old status where he stood still unless he lost LoS).
Pistol, mace, axe, shortbow, longbow, hammer
If possible, add a little icon above the phantasm and illusion circle (or recolor it) that only the Mesmer can see.
The buff would, in my mind, basically just be an invisible buff (not boon) that applies and stacks intensity with no duration. As the stacks reach certain thresholds, the color of the icons change so the Mesmer can tell.
The way I thought about it while I wrote that was based on attack cycles making PH strong in shatter builds (with a max of about 3 attack cycles or so, not that you’d really get there outside of PvE).
