Since leveling to 80 is easy and people ask what will you do if you get the higher level., this idea will help., example all players will start on weak level server to go to the next lvl they need to do some task for example they need to kill 100 different players in WvsW w/out dying., to go to the next lvl., for last lvl of server they need to kill 500 player w/out dying and specially there’s a reward for mid level you can farm 2x you farm on weak server + title rank so that people saw and know you you are in different lvl when you go back on normal world., for 3rd level of server it needs 2x you farm on a mid server + rank + statue on lion arch but only 3 statue will be stand and those statue will be rank from bronze silver to gold., only 3 best people need to have statue., so that people will fight for the statue., its like hey i will do my best to have the statue. Looks like more thrilling right? And maybe they can put additional task so that it takes a long time to get the (professional server and the rank and the statue)

It’s actually a nice idea but I expect Anet devs already feel they have this… it’s the PvP system, which is tiered and graded. You can just grind it even if you lose all your sPvP bouts but that is a very poor definition of fun and if folks can’t hack it there they don’t progress in it any further and just do WvW instead.

Where I am in PvP at the moment means every single fight is hard whether I play thief, ranger, mesmer, Ele, etc. It’s because the folks at that level have been through the same baptism of PvP that I have. And the only glass canons I see are newly rolled thieves or warriors who don’t understand why they are dying so badly in there because they read the forums and were told they should be overpowered.

Up until last night I just hadn’t been seeing numbers of thieves in pvp…. But then last night there were tons of them. 90% were death blossom spam which meant they died to my p/d thief over and over.

I asked around a little and it’s folks rolling a thief after reading the whines on here. Of course many maintained they were owning hard and easy with their new thief… Even though they we dying…. A lot… I mean a lot.

I’ve never actually seen a hot join game group act as a team… but that is OK… it’s still great fun playing PvP bouts. I go for the fighting, not to prove that there is no ‘i’ in team.

Here’s one tip I saw a ranger do yesterday. There were 2 of us and one of him (unfair) and I let him have a 1v1 a couple of times but would not let my team mate die from downed… I would res him up and he would thank me – he did’t want to die either. The ranger was good so this was frustrating for him.

The ranger then switched from fighting to just neutralizing the points. He didn’t claim the points.. just stayed mobile and neutralized, which maximised his points by the end of the bout in an otherwise tough to accumulate points situation.

Small races have almost always the advantage in PvP in most games. Roll them as a habit and enjoy.

It’s kind of fun until you hit Deer, then burst kills noone. I have played the last two nights and not seen one single burst thief. Seen a few Blossom spammers… who die a lot and very little else thief wise. I play all toons in there by the way but when I play thief it is P/D.

Do PvP as a priority to get the skills then move out to WvW solo.

What kind of fighting suits you? Long, drawn out condition based fights… burst fights… ?

they demand thief nerfs simply because your the most irritating class in the game. able to go into battle with no risk at all and 3 shot players. and get out alive. able to disengage the fight anytime you wish by simply using C&D. You can spam heartseeker and do 3k to 5k damage per hit. plus more if crit.

Basically any new person can create a thief go into pvp and auto attack ppl to death without even using any skills with a basic GC build. thats why people are mad at you enjoy the complaining xD lol

You don’t pvp. New people on thieves are food and don’t last long because they were mis-sold how easy it should be. No one dies to BS in pvp.

I play a thief.

The risk/reward of stealth is out of whack. Too many ways to get into stealth if you miss a burst window.

The simplest solutions would be to:

a) increase revealed debuff from all stealth sources to 10 seconds, and compensate with better utilities for the group – more combo fields (adding them to things like blinding powder) and focusing on the way steal buffs allies.

b) redesign CnD to something that does not give stealth

The whole mechanic of burst/stealth/burst/stealth endlessly is not good for the overall meta, it gets dull at best and with culling it becomes very broken.

Destroys condition builds entirely forcing all thieves to go glass canon and all stealth based effects (like regen) would need enormous boosts. The class is based on having to stealth a lot… They lose to folks who don’t let them stealth. A simple extension of the stealth debuff would require by far the biggest rework of the class. Fix culling and done. Go play pvp to see how thieves wil be after that change.

Culling in WvW is all that needs attention.

In PvP there is no culling and after Rabbit levels there are no complaints about thieves or warriors because everyone’s learned how to avoid being insta-gib’d.

sPvP in this game is played by a very minor part of the population and dying in it doesn’t carry with it the same penalties as WvW.
Besides that the capture point objectives in sPvP the closer areas, detract from what people complain about thieves, that’s why people don’t complain about it in the forums.

Fixing culling would probably eliminate some issues, but I think a problem would still remain.

I WvW a ranger and thief and PvP on everything. It’s far easier to be thief like in a small town full of buildings and walls. In WvW it is far harder to be unseen… what makes thieves devastating in WvW is culling and poorly equipped and inexperienced players. We can’t do much about the latter… so the former needs attention.

Basilisk venom takes several seconds to apply and can be interrupted on application so has to be done before a rotation… Can’t be inserted mid rotation.

All I got have to say to the dev team is PLEASE do not give in to all the people crying for nerfs on thieves.

we are the 99%. sorry. there are many more non-thief players, and anet needs to make the game fair for all of us, not just coddle thieves.

dodging, situation awareness, and having an escape plan ready at all times is not a thief player exclusive.

the concept is not that hard to implement into ANY class playstyle. learn it. use it.

Ok,I’ll bite. I dodge 3 s after I see them stealth. They now know that. they wait for 5 s. I have an escape plan, but to where shall i escape when they are perma stealthed? Lol. nice try though.

We’ve all died to a GC thief at least once and thought holy heck what was that? However after the 3rd of 4th encounter it should never happen again.

I played the spec myself all through Rabbit in PvP and by the time you get into Deer there are very few folks who would be beatable by the spec. You even see GC warriors die out as you go up the levels and they also have the insta-gib gene to unload on you if you don’t know what is going to happen.

People just get better over time and GC’s fizzle out.

I flip camps very easily with a P/D build (condition). 30 in Shadow Arts, 25 deadly arts and 15 trickery. I find ‘Uncatchable’, ’Shadow’s rejuvination’ and ‘Cloaked in Shadow’ mandatory.

Condition builds with a pretty heavy survivability bias have been best for me against the tough buggers like guardians and necros. Some of these guys in PvP takes a hellishly long time to down.

Builds around DB have to be the worst thief build going (apart from deliberatly gimping yourself). I’ve seen these fellas come flipping at me in spvp a lot recently and they are simply food to a P/D thief.

There is a demographic at play here and that is that rogue type classes attract more Nostromo and Naga users per capita than anything else… reason is to get them right you have to twitch.

Healing classes are for chicks or lads who want to meet/be chicks and tanky types are almost always blokes with goatees.

My tongue may be in my cheek… but there is fire in the smoke. The thief class has chewed a few 50% damage reduction nerfs already and still the tears flow. They will flow after the next round. If it ever gets nerfed hard enough to move this crowd onto mesmers the river of tears will simply drown the lands. My ranger (which is a well-geared level 80 WvW / PvP toon) treats GC thieves as food and walks away from condition thieves (stalemate). And in high level PvP I simply do not see any. PvP is the best test of balance and power.

This game unfortunately pits the best of the FPS twitch community against the non RvR / PvP / WvW community and of course there will be shock and horror at the inhumanity of it all.

Mesmer and necro in particular play into the strength of P/D. With D/D on the other set you land masses of conditions in short order.

Mesmer does need a counter though The class is so solid it should have a nemesis.

I solo in spvp and wvw and prefer burst builds. Once you have built up 25 stacks of bloodlust you aren’t limited to 1v1. Condition was fun but I prefer murder mode.

A patch that does not include a 50% damage nerf to a thief skill is a good patch.

My ranger also got a very nice set of boosts.

This does make it very easy. If you are loving the game and think you are now an MMO PvP and RvR / WvW addict… get the mouse (naga or something similar).

Healing sancturay and SB #5 get a whole lot easier for the same reason.

I can only contrast Ranger and Thief as they are my only fully exotic geared 80’s… I have played everything else in PvP though.

GC and condition builds are fun on both. The thief is harder to get right… but much more rewarding when it is done right.

I’ve split my PvP and WvW time between my ranger and Thief. Warriors seem to come in two flavours regardless of what I am on… very predictable (99%) or scarily good (1%). I think the thick armour and big damage option on warriors pulls them into a certain playstyle that is easy to deal with.

I do as a player here has advised before… Basilisk Venom → Skale Venom → Assassin’s Signet → hit Cloak and Dagger and as it casts use Steal to appear at your target when C&D goes off then Backstab for the big hit.

The Ranger is fiddly to play… winning on one is very satisfying as a result though.

The problem is more the bugs rather than the class design… pets and the long bow have fundamental issues (pathing and moving targets being the biggest problems).

When the pet works you are on par, when it can’t land a hit you are working uphill the hard way for the entire fight.
