Ladies and gentlemen, please stand clear of the platform, this is the delayed fast-track 12:42 Shadow Behemoth Zerg from Far Shiverpeaks, calling at the Shatterer, fire elemental and terminating at the bank. Dungeon tokens are valid for this service. Please stand clear of the Zerg.
It’s a timetable if you make it so. I run dungeons to help friends, if I’ve already done it today- that’s not a problem I still get something and it takes 5 or 6 runs to get down to 20tokens, which is still something. I do my daily, if I don’t get it- there’s always tomorrows daily. It’s not like I can’t do anything after I’ve got it. I can still heal people. Rewards don’t bother me. Top stats don’t bother me. What bothers me is having a good time. But I’m a minority, it don’t like carrots, or sticks…
They’re not restrictions as a whole, but restrictions on loot.
The only difference I can see is the timing of the events and that people get upset if they’ve arrived before the spawn window only to be knocked into overflow with a different timer. I’m sure it won’t be long before the timer websites add the overflows on to their count.
I think you’re right about the fractals and dungeons as well- Suddenly everyone is in the open world instead of 5 people to an instance because it’s max gold for min time and all the sparkles on the unique weapons takes a lot of rendering. I wouldn’t mind so much if people who wanted only the meta events actually helped with the tirgger events in the window. Like the behemoth- he won’t visit until he’s had his brew and watched his oakheart friend die, but people won’t start the events, they just stand there going “Has he spawned yet?” “have I missed him?” “Who’s altered the timer?” and tear chunks out of anyone that disagrees.
Meta events are meant to bring the community together, but at the moment, it really only brings them together in a mass of invisible bodies with not even a “Nice Job,” “Good fight,” in sight.
Edit- already answered
I know a guildie that guested a couple of days after the patch didn’t get the chests on the server they were guesting on but that could be due to the chests not rendering or anything like that.
As long as the event still runs in the overflow- regardless of timing compared to the other servers, I don’t really see a problem with it. if everyone was let onto it, they’d be complaints about super lag and lagging to the extreme, more so than now.
The event will start, you just might not have a timer for it and have to guess with the trigger event timings. Yes being in the overflow is not nice, but tbh I’d rather run around in an overflow for 2.5hours and then do the boss with a few people, rather than an invisible army of people that never render. Or get in early for the next spawn.
That is a clever mechanic
, tbh, I was too busy running in circles and rolling about to notice I wasn’t getting burnt by the flames. Cheers for the tip Greggers!
Dungeons make me so twitchy, especially with the sheet amount of bodies around at once, the lag ramps up. Maybe I’ll brave it again some day.
Yeah, quality has decreased and lag has increased no-end in AC- not good considering the pounce attack of the trash :/
I had it previous to patch, but killing worked, sometimes we all had to run to a specific spot before she’d wander into a position that triggered it.
I dunno what else could be done :/
Yeah, we had p2 glitch a couple of times. Don’t know if you can only use a trap once before having to use another or not. Boss got stuck. Detha died. Boss healed slightly. Detha died.
Howling king- great if you’re organised and communicating well I’m sure, but for a PUG with little muscle it was rather tough as we couldn’t kill it quick enough before getting overwhelmed. One nibble off a trash mob and some of the lighter armours go down.
I liked dungeons as they were a good way of having an adventure with friends and laugh and got into them casually, but now I think I’ll give them a miss :/
There almost needs to be a widely accepted script. State what you’re looking for in party chat and then ask, before diving in, the experience level, saves everybody getting abusive later on.
It’s a shame players are almost embarrassed to admit that they’ve never done a dungeon before, but I guess it’s difficult to get a whole group of first timers together as people just want to go through it quickly as all they can see is the gold at the end.
I thought this would be a nice way of posting the struggles charr face in their daily lives adventuring around- such as not being able to see on a jumping puzzle, glitches, floating weapons, that kind of thing. To share the pain and suffering of it all-
To kick off,
my engi and an undignified death-
I run a semi skip dungeon. I.e we give all mobs a good go, and if we get wiped, which sometimes happens if we’re not focused on one for example, we then skip it the next time (Troll and Lt love fest is dependant on our mood). The loots not great but having been the player that’s had to run back through it all alone because they don’t really know where they’re going, I like to make people’s lives that bit easier.
Skipping gets nasty when mobs are pulled into an event that has to go on, (AC p2 Mortar room and gravellings outside)
Generally I state my intents as to what type of run I’m doing. So Op if you’re on EU servers, I run casual kill most dungeons occasionally XD
I won’t claim to be that good at dungeons, but if you need someone to group with on a first time dungeon run, I’m on EU server SR and would gladly come and give anyone a hand.
I think it’s a case of you have to do dungeons to find a group of players that you get on well with- but that takes time and some kick-outs, which some people don’t have time for.
Happy dungeoning!
^^ not the only one,
I’ve just lost all mine to, alongside another guildie having the same problem. I can’t remember user names :/
I’d like some housing but I’d also like other houses in the city to open up a bit more as I have no idea of how charr live and sleep, but I doubt it’s bunk cat-baskets.
I’d like houses because you could add extra elements to it. A carpenter and furnisher craft profession, leaving gifts, trick or treating etc. Storage would be great in there to, pay for more if you need it like the bank.
Or even a room in the guild place would be good, though the lag might be a bit too much with all the rooms and items. Would their have to be a decoration limit?
My griffon plush could sleep on a basket to as could my ranger pet
Oh forgot one-
Make sure characters appear to be harvesting using the right tool. So many times I’ve seen someone hacking a tree down with a mining pick and it looks odd.
It did feel like an increase in the frequency that things dropped loot- not more rares, but a few more junk items and sometimes I can gather more than once off a node as well (max I had was 5 on a herb) . Either that or my character just got blessed.
I’ve seen it, I think it’s intentional to prevent constant spamming of leading mobs to them.
That said you can heal one, heal the buddy and then go back to the original with no problems. Diessa lowlands is good for npc deaths.
You ever had a full inbox?
That’s been mentioned before as a possible hint.
A storage slot for dungeon tokens in the bank. (I’m not into dungeons, so they just kind of float around)
And the mail limit needs to be capped at 5- or a multi contact mail option.
Charr engi. I’ll never get bored
They need glitter, and they need to stop glitching.
I’ve looting some before, and they’ve just stayed there XD
I did world completion on my main, and wvw was the most frustrating bit of it. That said, I think that some of the challenge needs to remain.
I can’t see any way of flagging working without getting abused.
Maybe what’s needed is two options when you go into wvw, normal and then sort of like a costume. You can’t do anything in it, except maybe a speed boost, you can’t communicate with anyone in wvw aside from those that you’re morphed with and you can’t change out of it, without going back to PvE.
I would also weight the queues as well, so that say if a team had 100 capacity , only 20 of those wanting to be in costume could be in at any one time. Maybe even a time limit on them, where you have to go back and re-queue for the form so that the jumping puzzle requires more effort.
That way those that want to play wvw can without too much of an effect on numbers, and those that severely dislike wvw can do the exploring and those that want the challenge can do it without using the form. Or limit the map completion rewards based on if the form was used or not.
Just a thought.
Games can exist containing group content with more than one difficulty level. I want to play a game with a variety of difficulties depending on how much time and energy I have available.
^^ Totally agree
A good game has something for everyone. People who like group activities will always do group activities and even want more- such as bigger raids as seen in the suggestion forum. Doesn’t make the soloers happy. So implement stuff for both and in an ideal world everyone would be happy.
As for those horrible hats, I salvaged one and got 3 ectos off it,so can’t complain XD.
PUGs. What can I say, some are wonderful, most are alright, some are awful.
I partied up with 2 fantastic teams last night. Took time to explain things, chat, take breaks, dance, congratulate and discuss plans when something didn’t go right the first time. Cue Happy dungeon dance.
Tonight, ’you’re a noob party, where’s your dps?’ ’I’m a noob? You’re a noob!’ then a rage quit. Actually not a ‘noob’ party and I admit that my router crying and disconnecting me probs didn’t help, but there was no communication between people. Communication, whether just “skip? no skip!” or some friendly class banter is key.
I’ll happily take people through a dungeon, stopping before each room and explaining what’s about to happen, because even experienced players my learn something off another, that they didn’t know. It’s how everyone has to start.
Those that wish to play with a high level party with experience, quit before an instance, or ask what people classify themselves as. Doesn’t take much time. Doesn’t waste anyone’s time. Therefore everyone’s happier and there’s no bad blood.
lfcg Come one, come all
Light Cof exotic armour chestpiece gives you the molten arms and tail. The 330 token one. I was looking at buying it for my charr. On the preview you only have to wear that piece. Think it’s-
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Flame_Legion_Vestments
I mean look at the guy posted above me.. Gears as piercing in the charr horns.. lol it looks freaking horrible.
Dudes a lady XD
Tact required, each to their own though
Every race seems to have medium armour blues though, nothing really looks that good in the grand scheme of armours. The backpacks look pretty silly on everyone.
Most of my Charrs apart from my warrior. I don’t spend much on the dyes can you tell?
Cranky Fox, Snahtic Fox, Hallowed fox and Fat fox.
Foxes
Charrs go rawr!
I love my engi charr and the skills compliment well. Though I’ve gone for a more modern engineer look.
^^ So true
What I hate even more are the heavy helmets. My charr doesn’t need horns on the armour, shes got them el natural! So why hide them and replace them.
Maybe they fold them down and clip them with a hair clip XD
That’s true, clearly it’s the flame legion driving up the prices for unidentified dyes in their attempts XD
Would they need a stencil to spray on shapes?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Chef <—- take a look at the recipes here. The one with walnuts and blackbeans requires 25 and 100 respectively. Dyes take a lot of resources to make and are generally higher level recipes that unlock.
Hope it helps
I like the ideas, as the Black citadel is always so empty- the only reason to visit atm is for the cultural stuff.
I’m not a fan of dungeons, but maybe some events like escort a supply caravan into the city, then it might offer some decent rewards for a time limit, and have it kicking off at certain times. I like the specific merchant idea.
Maybe a different bonus for each city depending on the craft. Eg in the Black Citadel armoursmith gets +5% experience.
The map hover is very glitchy, so you many have to open and close it a couple of times to get it to work.
Glad you found it and that it wasn’t a difficult place
People are becoming rude because of CoF Path 1 farming. My engineer always gets kicked after people see that I’m an engineer. The other day, I got a record breaking 6 consecutive kicks for not being a Warrior/Mesmer. 3 out of 6 times, I got something like “Engineers are kitten/Crap/useless” lines from them.
It’s quite true though that having a party full or warriors and mesmers are more effective than a bunch of random classes pugged together.
I Started running Cof today, as I spoke to some people in map chat and they reckoned it was the easiest dungeon path. They weren’t lying. I was an engi, and at one point I had an engi friend in the party. The only other dungeon I’ve tried is Cm and jeez that’s a beast.Every single group I’ve been in has asked ‘Are you new/you don’t know what you’re doing do you?’ No kicks yet. Someone said I did well for a first timer. etcetc
The elitism suggests that the classes are unbalanced. And they are. Mesmers can portal over the rolling boulders of death, warriors and guardians kill things super fast. It makes me want to stand on that ledge outside and shout "Noobs, rally to this noob, Neglected classes rally to this engi!
And what will happen in the long run? Endless amounts of the top classes running around and nothing else. I would like to see the profession graph updated.
What they need if warriors will remain on top, is the dungeon of the downtrodden!
Thumper turrets everywhere that only engis can disable to make life slightly easier, mobs to drag in that will fight each other so the ranger pet isn’t killing everyone etcetc. Dead things necros can control to aid the party. Not enough to completely change the tide of the battle, but something to help.
Didn’t you know? The charr ears are just fancy dress detachable ones. Like their horns :P
Nice hood though, my ele looks so silly with her hood up.
Was just a thought I had.
Would Charr ever dye their fur in preparation for battle? Fur painting and all that to make them look more menacing? Stripes on the face, clan symbols that kinda thing. Or would they be a bit pointless considering that most of them are fully armoured up anyway?
What do you call a charr with its tail on fire?
Charmander
I’m sure the heavier professions would joke about the scholar professions in this way. Especially Engineers.
I like these lines, they need to be implemented
Name: Fatfox
Main Character: Cranky Fox or Fat Fox
Current Server: Far Shiverpeaks (looking to move to PvE based server before 28th)
Interested Activities: PvE, and I want to run some dungeons, but need a helping hand getting a group that’s will to take it slow XD. When I get good, I’ll want to lead others.
Active: Late evenings GMT
Additional Comments: I like block text, charrs, collecting things, gathering and wandering about.
Are you willing to participate in Operation: UNION’S project, Y/N?:
Yes, but with my ele Fat Fox, as my engi Cranky Fox is going to retire until trade picks up for the engi as she currently is blessed with constant aggro.
I’ve found that servers can make a difference to the experience. I’ve just done my first world completion, and at around the 90% mark I swapped servers. On the original server, there was no one in the open world aside from in Queensdale, but in the one I swapped to there were people in all areas. People! Real people! Real people offering to help!
But yes, the focus for endgame is dungeons and LA. I don’t like dungeons, or more accurately, I’ve yet to find a group to take me through as I’ve never completed one before (but I have been in one in a group). There’s a big experience rift and not many people want to bridge the gap :/. Cool armour? Dungeon. Legendary weapon? All require dungeons. Make a dungeon free one for pve’ers!
Maybe random T6 nodes appearing in the low level areas for whatever reason. The orders have done an archaeological dig and revealed a vein that has a mix of ori and mithril or something like that.
I think it’s probably to do with the fact that some of the fur colours look odd and that white is essentially a blank canvas to add colour and stuff through your armour. My main is a grey and black engi, I have a black base, white striped warrior, and my two light armours are snow leopard style, because I like super bright armours.
I also have a ginger and white ranger, but the orange is causing many clashing issues.
I just miss combining professions. I loved nothing more than raining fiery death upon a foe whilst my pooch ripped them to shreds or looking all tanky and then busting out some mind bending mesmer. Don’t think it would work in GW2 but I miss it.
The variety of areas to.
I miss the simplicity of the armour upgrades. Get to level 20, but some armour, job done, off you go adventuring, same stats as everyone else.
Oh, and the fact that people didn’t really diss professions because no-one was really an expert in all of the combinations. Unlike now, where I see ‘no Engis’ and part of me dies inside…
Pirlipat.2479- awesome video XD
As many people have said, there has got to be choice when it comes to revealing armours. I want to have the ability to choose between tin can and metal swimwear for all my characters, regardless of gender, in equal amounts. After all, you have the options for skin pattern and tattoos, and most of the time you don’t see them.
I’m female, but I have some male clothing, If you look at fashion today, female clothing tries to copy male clothing- boyfriend shirts/ jeans etc, with the only difference being a stitch that slightly alters the shape and a much heftier price tag.
Cross dressing could be slightly difficult to model for the chest pieces, but for everything else it should be easy- I like the idea tbh, because it gives choice, you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to (Just as long as there’s a marker saying which one it’s originally meant for so I don’t accidentally buy the wrong set to the one I want) And it’ll fit with Charr lore and human characteristics.
That said, make the armour tasteful and in line with the styles set in the game, not just something out of an Ann Summers catalogue. It’s a fine line.
Real men wear pink is my pink moa. He’s so manly
And my arctic wolf is Not a [FOX], though I wish it was.
My drakes are all called fluffdaddy, because I think that deep down drakes secretly want to be fluffy.
My jellyfish is nomnomnomcookiez as it just eats away at things underwater.
A fox (stealth/ blindness) because they are so orange! or a chameleon (stealth), or a parrot that mimicked your last battle cry, because one sick ‘em ain’t enough.
Lions as well, I miss them from Gw1.
An Octopus for underwater! But maybe a lemming as well, so that whenever I jumped off a cliff, it would follow…
There’s stuff on the necro that does more damage the more conditions an enemy has and stuff that spreads the conditions around onto other foes (Can you tell I’ve not got very far with my necro yet?). Couple this with engi pistols and it’s good to go.
I run with an elementalist as an engineer and it works well, just a tad squishy though, though a dagger/dagger ele is well supported by an engineer.
Engi and engi with two opposite builds work well. One in grenades and one in turrets for example.
My first character was an ele, but I ended up leveling my engi First. In terms of support, I find that the ele has the ability to be constantly supportive, whereas when you’re really in trouble, the crate drop skill on the engineer can help keep a team alive or interrupt an attack. As Reveaux said, the elementalists play in their own way.
I’m specced to do a bit of everything with my engi- dual pistols, rocket turret (spreads the aggro), speed boost and boon elixir, complete condition removal and crate drop. It’s not a fantastic build, but it keeps me alive and on the move in PvE. She also gets tons of aggro, no matter what the scenario.
With engis, you pick a route and stick with it, lots of engis all specced for the different kits is a (rare) sight to behold. I don’t use kits as they take a ton of traits.
Oh and, no perma speed boost for general running is irritating. Why did I choose to attempt map completion with my engi?
On the other hand, I find with the elementalist, that I don’t want to put more than 20 points into each one as the final tier traits don’t seem that fantastic. You can do a lot, no matter what weapon you’ve got and It’s easier to change play style in a fight.
In short, if it’s just you and an ele eyeing up a champion, you know what the ele can offer as a partner no matter what the build, but an engineer is more of a wild card depending on play style. Engis need something to make them shine and it’s not kits.
Both me and a guildie have had an issue with dying shoes.
Basic light armour shoes on a charr mesmer, they crashed during dye editor and then they crash after the reboot when you try to remove them. Not in WvW colours, not transmuted, just the basic light armour you start with.
I don’t want to be stuck in rubbish shoes forever!
I’m a Charr wearing Light Armor to boot! Also a mesmer! I wonder if it’s specific to Charr Mesmers.
For the record, no, it’s not in World Vs. World either.
It’s a really odd glitch, and it doesn’t seem to be constant either, as my guildie has managed to change the shoes and the dye now, but it still crashes mine occasionally. It could be light armour related as I think it happened on my charr necro as well. Poor charr, all they want to do is wear shoes and use magic.

So many good things to quote and talk about here, it’s an interesting thread.
Lunastra- I know your pain in Orr, only as an engi ( lightning skill on pistol/turret), I’ve yet to take my ele there, trying to clear off mobs, only to get more and more through accidental aoe= Squish!
ElixireL- People will stop and ask for help sometimes, I wished Merry Xmas to all those I did the Tixx dungeon with, and only a few replied, I think only one stayed afterwards to chat and dance about. I had GW1, moved on to GW2 but aside from that I’ve only watched others play MMO’s and I struggled to understand the unwritten etiquette around them. Maybe GW2 is trying to break away from the stereotype.
MaRko- I did wonder why they didn’t include some utility for voice chat so that those who wanted to use it for coordination could- though I guess they thought the ones that really wanted to use it would use vent or something like that.
I kind of like to see a map as a real-life field, so instead of the characters, there’s you, me and everyone else from real life, sitting down, talking on a mobile (working the TP), running about etc. If I knew someone, I’m more likely to head over to chat, but getting people to do a group event and communicate is difficult, children used to do it in the playground with tig and whatnot, and it starts off a a zerg but they would meet up again to play again forming a group. This doesn’t seem to happen in GW2.
Likewise if a mysterious voice told us to get out the field (imminent death otherwise), we’d all try it individually first, then try to work as a team with as little communication as possible, until it gets to the stage where we realise we have to talk (or someone breaks the silence) and lo and behold a human pyramid rises up over the fence (or another solution).
Then comes the issue. There’s those that will simply run free and laugh at the people stuck in the field, so the number goes down, and then there’s others that will stay ’til the last persons been brought over, some will say thanks and some will move on back in their easier solo game. I think this was seen in that disease in WoW and professionals are still studying that example- http://www.thomascrampton.com/internet/world-of-warcraft-used-to-predict-pandemic-behavior/
But people (this is my opinion here) just don’t seem to want to play constructively together, I think even if all the solo options were removed, people wouldn’t run Arah- they’ve even stopped doing it for the story mode ending because it ‘forces grouping’. Maybe it was something in the way GW2 was marketed/advertised that caused this solo thinking.
I would love to use some group strategy in game, though I’d be terrified of letting people down, but there’s no real learning platform to do it in, and I guess as Genesis said people will take the easier option- in some people’s view, it’s more money making for your time.
Or maybe, it’s too much like having to deal with colleagues at work or herding children out the door to school, ‘Got your gear? Had Breakfast? Cleaned your teeth?’ I wonder if there is actually a way to successfully implement organised group events needing communication?
Sorry for the waffle,
This thread has made me want to try talking to everyone and trying to communicate with others I’m working alongside
.
^^ me to though I can see the image so clearly in my head and the tune.
Going to be honest and say I never noticed the DR when I played for longer, but thinking about it, I always seem to get something good in the first couple of kills , to try and lure me in to playing and buying magic gems more. Then come the broadswords which sell for nothing, and the endless amounts of rubbish light armour playing as my engi… suspicious eyes
It always made me feel slightly guilty. Just 5 more minutes getting to this new area…next thing I know…You have been playing for 2 hours please take a break…Maybe the games right this time, I never made it to three hours, I got guilt tripped by the lil’ pop up. Anyone ever got a massive number from not logging out?
