I would like to point out to Helseth that L-Cancelling was intentionally programmed into Melee and that the devs were well aware of it.
Nitpicking aside, he makes some excellent points, this whole E-sports thing runs on spectators, and spectators need something to be in complete awe of, things that seperate the pros from the casual players, preferably in spectacular fashion.

Also it has been confirmed that Arena Net is working on giving every profession access to every weapon. So there is that.

Engi should not beat necro, if the necro gets 1 fear off the fight is effectively over.
Why play well if all you need to win (in soloq especially) is to spam and pray? Pray, yes, that your team has more op builds than your opposing team. It’s currently very easy to predict who is going to win and lose before a match even starts, purely based on builds.
When 2 mesmers, 2 eles and 1 warrior face 2 necros, 2 engies and 1 spirit ranger, guess what happens.
The 2nd team turns out to be a bunch of newbies that don’t know how to fight mesmers and dies
That doesn’t take away the fact that he’s capable of winning the fight if he connects with 1 stun, the warrior also has a 0.25 cast time stunner that inflicts a whopping 3 secs of stun.
IF HE CONNECTS the stun (which lasts 4 seconds with Sigil of Paralyzation, I believe), thats the important part. And that is only if he stuns you when you are not standing in your Smoke Bomb, or next to Big Ol’ Bomb.
Also Warrior will usually not go for the kill with his first stun combo (because he is low on adrenalin and because he will want you to waste your stunbreakers/defensive cooldowns on low duration stuns).
You have perma swiftness, he can have long lasting (but not perma) swiftness if he uses his Elite Signet, he has one ranged cripple with slow projectile speed and very obvious animation and two gap closers (and their range is also greatly reduced if the Warrior is slowed), all of these are on Greatsword.
If the Warrior gets in melee range and swaps to the Mace/Shield, dodge or use shield #4/#5 and kite him while throwing cripples/chills/immobilizes to increase range. He has literally no means to get near you unless he swaps back to the GS and that would mean no stuns.
The only utilities you need to look for are Berserker stance (short duration, long-ish cooldown, immunity to conditions – there you make use of your dodges, stuns and knockbacks) and Stability (there you make use of your dodges, blinds and slows). The third utility is usually conditon wipe, but can be another stun breaker, or Bull’s Charge.
You’re just trying to make it sound far worse then it actually is, warriors are extremely dangerous for the stunbreak-less engineers running around these days, just because we’re not completely defenseless doesn’t mean the warriors aren’t a big threat.
Skullcrack Warriors are dangerous to most classes in 1v1 fights. Engineers are one of the few classes that can beat them even without stunbreaks. So no, not a hard counter….

This depends on the size of the nodes, ofcourse, but still. It’s not like I disagree with what you said because that IS the way to get rid of warrior but you’re not always going to get the opportunity to fight exactly like that, in a more spacious setting then yes, warriors chances drop alot.
And skullcrack WILL end you if it connects, a full 4 seconds to bash someone in is plenty.

No it is not. You have two AoE knockbacks, block/stun, blind+AoE blind+pulsing blind field, AoE chill, AoE immobilize+cripple, perma vigor, either Elixir S or Elixir R (with their thrown versions) and an AoE stun elite. The Warrior has two gap closers, three if he slots Bull’s Charge.

Play more, get used to it. Change your keybinds if you have to cos the default ones suck anyway, for every class in the game.
And please don’t go around the forums asking for changes purely for your own sake, most engi players are perfectly fine with the way it is and would hate to see it changed.
i get the complaints but if you die you’re not even suppose to get back up being downed is the same as being defeated/dead. Only difference is when you downed, i now get the chance to shove a flag up yours… Well I guess i could also say its suppose to give you a slight chance of getting back up if your enemy is near dead whatever the circumstances may be. I don’t really see the point of improving the downstate cause even mesmers and thieves once they down hard chance of them getting back up if you understand how their down state works.
That still doesn’t take away the fact that the downed states need to be somewhat equalized across the board, either by buffing the bad ones or nerfing the good ones into the ground.

Oh god don’t you dare forget about /resign, now that punishes are in place there needs to be some sorta surrender option asap.
Maybe weird, but, aren’t downed skills ment to be a bit useless?
Like: “agh! I’m down! Here let me grab this …. Loaf of bread to give you one more slap!”But still.. The CD is just too long on skill 2. 3 is arguable aswell, it’s a nice finisher interupt in PvP and WvW, but why would you want to pull something that’s trying to killing you, near you?

I doubt people are going to be all that worried about a temporary time-out.
The punishment only forces people to waste their time sitting out a lost game, so they will, but they won’t be friendly about it. (And they’ll go afk)
Or they’ll just leave, which leaves their teammates at a 4v5 disadvantage or worse which will usually seal the deal, and these people won’t even be able to surrender and leave the game without being punished as well.
Hi i’m god and I wrote that guide and have dueled defektive a few times who is probably the guy who made the stunlock warrior build you fought against and is the most common good user of the build.
The stunlock matchup is tricky however I would still put it in the favorable column as I win the majority of my fights against it.
First Berserker’s stance = you need to create separation and run away. You can not blind them or do any damage when they are in this so run away and use block if you must.
Assuming they are not in berserker’s stance the main goal is to damage them while kiting their melee attacks. This is done by dropping bombs at your feet and being sure to blind them whenever they get close. If you stand in the blind field or even the burning + confusion field if they try to attack u they will die first. If they don’t get close you’re free to pistol/grenade them down.
Just dodge a lot and block + throw at end of channel if you ever get spiked.
If fighting a teamwith 2+ warriors you can swap backpack regenerator to protection injection which further helps the matchup and if their cleave is super strong or you can’t win 1v1’s without a sb because you’re not quite good enough feel free to swap out R for slick shoes/elixer gun.
I still don’t understand how I’m supposed to fight vs CC, you can’t just keep kiting people, Necro’s are literally capable of fearing you and killing you from full HP before that fear ends, the build has no stunbreakers, how am I supposed to fight stuff like that?
Beat these stunlock warriors that freakin everyone is using? I can’t get stability and I can’t figure out how to beat them, they hit me ONCE and they just do their quickness 100blade stuff and I’m basically past the point of recovery. Our stunbreakers are practically useless and I don’t have the space for them on my utility skills :\

The build I’m using
Get used to the fact that you simply can’t beat everything no matter what build or class you run.
I’m trying out the thief and I want to make a simple glass cannon build with the highest damage output, mainly focuses on the shortbow #1 skill
Should I go pure power or prec/crit dmg?
There should be no punishment without some sort of fair way to end the game, like the option to have your team vote to surrender. Don’t make people sit through a whole game they can’t possibly win, they’ll just go idle instead.
Honestly, I don’t get why people get so worked up over this, soloing tournaments is pure RNG with the current matchmaking system.

Is there a way for the stand-by list to spectate the matches?
As long as winning or losing is based entirely on matchmaking “RNG” I see absolutely no problems with quitting a game that is clearly lost anyway.
If there are going to be repercussions for leaving the game, atleast give us something like a “Surrender” button, there’s no point in forcing people to waste their time in a game they’ve clearly lost.
Grenades and bombs.
-Balance of the classes (buff the ones that are left behind) (nerf some mechanics like stealth)
-Reduce the general damage output in pvp to have longer battles
-More maps that have different playstyles, like capture the flag, defending fortress i want more variety of game maps not only capture points, some kind of arenas, like in WOW, because now the entire competitive pvp its centered in capturing poits wich is lame.
-STEALTH is allerady nefed
-dmg is fine too I like it how it is now

Wow, I was actually thinking about using it but as it turns out..It’s useless. I guess that does help with my decision making for now, but it still kinda sucks.

Practice Times: I have no set practice time of my own as of right now, I’m quite flexible, it should be easy to agree on a time.
Experience: As far as MMO’s go, not much. I solely played PvE for a good while (3 lvl 80 chars.) And decided to try out the PvP aspect of the game which is pretty much all I play now. I’ve played in clan wars and tournaments back when I played alot of Battlefield games.
Other (Anything else that you would like to add): I speak English and Dutch and am currently NOT in possesion of a microphone, should it be deemed absolutely required though, I’ll make sure to get one.
