I have no idea why people are congratulating JQ’s guild recuitment. SoS tried to make a new recuitment thread like JQ’s one and a few rotten JQers jumped in and turned the entire thread into a big “JQ has no people, we’re 24/7 outmanned, SoS has 24/7 coverage, etc” spreading FUD and insults to the point the forum admins had to close the thread because it was completely derailed.

I found SoS has better commanders in general and a few more solid guilds, but JQ has definitely 10x the better coverage. I was on JQ last week and there’s queues everywhere 24/7. EB is usually a solid 2 hours wait.

If your at lv30 and still struggle with him even with 25/30 AR, you shouldn’t be at that level. Grawl fractal should be the reality check that players should learn to dodge agony not just stack so much AR its irrelevant.

Seeing as how you have 3 guards, it’s not really surprising. What bothers me is that there are still classes that are pretty much almost mandatory at higher fractals such as the guardian.

I thought all classes can perform all roles almost equally but no, some classes are way better at some role (thru utilities whatnot). Which brings me to the conclusion that holy trinity is still there, it’s just not as apparent or rather hidden beneath the surface.

At lv30, guardians isn’t needed. At 80 on the other hand, the mobs are lv84, they hit like a truck and will 2-3 shot you. Firestorm does 7k damage on me each fireball that lands, if you were a lighter class it will 2 shot you. Also this was with “Shield of the Avenger” nerf, the shield will die in less than 1 second 80% of the time to either the lava ele or the firestorm the Shaman cast.

Well they initially stated FoTM has zero DR whatsoever. But lately I’ve noticed the drops gets worse and worse. If anything they just nerfed the loot tables.

I wanted to bring up a good point that others here have pointed out. Every agony move is avoidable in fractals, except for Jade Maw. Granted, people may have “got to 80” doing exploits (I myself admit doing them once in a while), but I don’t disagree with patching the system to remove an exploit. If Anet said, “Hey, stop exploiting or we’ll take away FotM 50+,” I guarantee you that nobody 50+ would have exploited again. And if Jade Maw agony was avoidable, then people would play that normally too. Cheating is just not worth losing good content for. However, now that we can’t even progress past 50, it’s really the ultimate form of punishment (besides banning, I guess) to the regular FotM player. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that ANet didn’t cap FotM at 50+ just to punish us, I just think they wanted to add more fractal levels and not to reach the end before “enjoying the content as we envisioned it.” It clearly is unfair to the players, I’m usually ok with what ANet does, even if it nerfs skills and the like, as long as the content is still accessible. But now, short of getting odd number fractals from high level FotMers willing to be paid to do it just so we can progress is quite evil indeed on ANets part.

It is not to punish players. With the release of the new amulet it can be easily deduced that Anet doesn’t want players to continue to get through Fractals using skill. They want players to grind for Ascended Gear and get the full armor set which will add up to 400+ Agony Resistance. This is their way of envisioning how to prolong GW2 end game – epitome of gear treadmill for progression. By then a player should be geared enough to handle content that is Fractal 50-80.

So you’re telling me people should be stuck at 50 because they aren’t skilled enough to complete anything higher than 50 because of lack of agony resist? I think agony resist shouldn’t go any higher than 30, if you can’t dodge agony you deserve to die and no longer progress. This is FoTM where how far you can go is determined by how skilled you are, not how much resist you have. I actually want a-net to make grawl fractal the actual final fractal in every instance to weed out the ones that can’t complete it. I can’t tell you how many pugs groups I ran with to do dailys just hard crashed into this stage and gave up because they were playing catch with the shaman taking arrows to the face.

Could this continous lava damage be running the SAME script as jade maw’s Agony … hmmmm I wonder -.-

I can tell you that in higher levels where you die to Jade Maw that Agony does IN FACT stay even while dead. When your portrait goes grey this usually means your dead dead, we saw that agony is still active.

Thanks to Jade Quarry for warm welcome to server last week for our stay. Had alot of fun on US. We can at least say we did it now. Was fun here is some footage in cyrils new video. Good luck to the US t1 guilds.

I am so glad you posted this video to just show how poor of sportsman you are. This is what RG is all about, abusing whatever they can and everything they can to win. Culling is already an issue and your guild goes ahead to make sure to use the AC potion to make sure you stay even longer invisible on top of mesmer stealth veil! You’re guild’s amazing because you make sure your enemies never see you and never will because you’ll abusing every bit of what culling it has to offer.

RG has no strategy just a giant culling abusing zerg.

FotM Jade Maw Post Jan28-Patch

So me and my group of friends finally awaited for the patch that’ll end our problems of playing together due to being in different fractal levels. After fighting our way through the toughest fractal the at Scale difficulty 80, Grawl Fractal and with the lovely new guardian “Shield of the Avenger” that randomly combust 1-2 seconds after getting it up. We finally got to the end where Jade Maw just endlessly agonyed our players to death despite using a Ranger pet res/revive orb. I assume this is intended as there’s no way to progress past Maw as it is now.

Thank you A-net for wasting both my time and anyone else that waited so long to get some progression.

Can the single very very very minor yet vocal minorities who loathe the other server as a whole just tone it down? There are plenty of people on both servers and I can assure you that 99% of the players are great folks just trying to have a great time maul over one another in WvW. I dungeon with people from across servers BG+JQ all the time, they are just regular folks so can we just lay off each other? SoS ain’t perfect but we try to fight our best like any server out there. I think some folks just took some time off this week to do some PvE, no big deal. We could use a break from time to time.

I understand that they’re to prevent crash in prices but soulbound? Can this be changed to accountbound? I run dungeon on a number of characters and I can’t use runes gotten from one character to another, it doesn’t make sense.

I’d just assume this was an oversight on A-net’s part.

Yet the cost of making vision of the mist is what? 250 Orichalcum Blades! That’s 750 ingots. Sorry the cost of making some of these weapons are just ludicous at the moment. Who’s to say that the future ascended gear won’t use orichalcum causing a massive shortage.

Only thing I hate about this week is the coming of a certain guild that heavy abuses culling erhm… Basically my computer runs well enough but the other 9/10 players who do not suffer so badly they can’t do anything.

What am I talking about? Mesmer stealth. That ability lets you stealth an entire group of 40+ with just 1 mesmer due to how bugged it is at the moment and add stealth culling on top of it, I salute that guild that uses the broken mechanics of WvW to its fullest.

In case people don’t know yet, stealth culling adds another 3-5 seconds after you lost stealth before you can even see them load on you screen. RG you are great at keeping you’re guys together and moving like godzilla but you’re nothing but culling 24/7 made me lost all respect. But hey whatever it takes to win got it.

I just don’t understand why A-net doesn’t make it so salvaging 70+ rares just yeild 1 ecto, no RNG involved. We currently have a RNG to FIND rare/mats to make them, then a RNG to salvage ectos. Seriously why is there a need for RNG on everything. There’s even a RNG for being able to hit targets 1 meter from you using bows.

Blackgate here, I can tell you one thing… SoS does not need anymore guilds. They outnumber us 2 to 1 on most cases and sometimes even 3 to 1. Its already in there favor, don’t make it worse.

That’s a plain lie. I can tell you that in Blackgate or Jade Quarry borderlands us SoS’ers are always outmanned so badly it takes us 40 minutes just to get 10 people into the server to start a breakout because they have us so badly numbered we can’t take anything. Not to mention that any breakouts we do gets mobbed constantly by 60+ man zergs that just destroys the Seigebreaker Commander like its nothing. 9/10 times we can’t even get Seigebreaker to drop the seige because we can’t hold the point long enough.

Also we rarely have any queues except during peak Oceanic hour times. I’ve been on Blackgate and I can tell you that their home BL as well as EB is always queued 30+ minutes, but most of their commanders are an absolute mess and normally don’t even have one on (not to mention their zerg just likes to bang their heads into gates without seige all day, reminds me of Dragonbrand IMO) that’s why I decided to get back in SoS because they are just that much more organized and better at leading. Jade Quarry I haven’t tried but they seem like a decent bunch and since they had recent large transfers they are rarely ever outmanned anymore and has just as large number of players as us if not more.

I feel like every time I see time people just blantantly lie or absolutely ignorant player shout out disdain to another server I should just show screenshots in-game of all the B.S they are spouting.

P.S I’m not going to point at the server at large but only those who are throwing misinformed or outright thoughtless opinions and put em as facts. I’ve done plenty of dungeons from people from different servers all around they are a decent bunch just hate the few people that give others a bad rep.

As you said in your reply " or maybe I am missing something?" Yes, what you are missing is that above fractal 50 its not possible to survive the agony in any way, we have had previous methods to surpass the agony from 47 – 50 but above there you will die instantly, now here is the clue: When you run back to Jade Maw and have not survived the agony he previously used, he will once again insta kill you with agony once you jump over to his area. In order to prevent getting hit by agony again you have to revive inside his area.

About your build, I’ll try to get a response from the members and come back to you =)

i see. then i guess there is no way around it. how do you do it? you leave one cristall by the side where you die and then 1 pick it up and start ressing every1?(without using the cristal ofc. only keeping it as a shield)
now, idk but do the agony hit over the entire map? or is it only the jade maw area. if that is the case couldn’t you let one of you guys stay and die. and the rest go back to checkpoint by falling. thus 1 of you die and 4 survive. or do the agony hit you as you return to the area aswell?

The only way to do it as of now is to either ress a person to 99.9% HP then get agony and ress him at a specific time so he wont get agony. The other way is to revive with orbs. No way around it, it can’t be done any other way. (As we know so far)

Does not work at 50+. At 50+ Agony is 1 tick instant downed state and tick 2 is dead, note this is with 30 agony resist. We used to do this at 40 and it worked fine, not difficult at all to pull off.

How to deal with D/D Elementalist

I’ve ran into many d/d elementalist in WvW and I’m using a hammer, traited for shout heals while wearing full zerks with superior runes.

First of all, they are impossible to kill as they just ride the lightning away heal to full in 2 seconds and they come back. My dps with hammer is just garbage on him and I can’t even CC him because they usually have stone armor shield up everytime they fight. Is the only way to deal with this the one trick pony, HB + frenzy?

Secondly, I can’t just immobilize him enough as they have so many condition removal so anyone know how to keep them from running or are they just impossible to chase down.

I’ve had an easier time dealing with thieves as I can always just fear them out of refuge but elementalist, they have way to many escapes and most of the time considerably more tanky than warriors due to their ridiculous protection boon uptime.

People are forgetting that the example ONLY SHOWED large discrepancies in level ranges. But in reality whats going to happen is that players that wish to progress but can’t (these are players suck in the ODD NUMBER) fractals can’t find people to group with.

This change will give players stuck at fractals of level 1-9 a chance to do level 10s fractal players in order to get their way up while those that are at 10 are just wanting to do their DAILY chest. Also lets be honest, anything before level 40 is rather easy as long as you got some agony resist and not 5 man glass cannon, 5 signet warriors.

But it is true, this is not a TRUE fix but this is MILES ahead of what we have now. I can’t tell you how long its taken me to find a group to advance past 38, yes this is an even number too.

Reasonably easy if you fight in the right-side room. The nova-spam phase is hard, but you can just death zerg through it so not a big deal.

Certainly a terrible design though. So bad I cannot even tell which parts of the fight work as intended.

So just 4 man zerg him to 50%? Nova + Wells is incredibly difficult to dodge them all in that small room and given how ridiculous it is to fight him in melee since he deflects a ton of ranged. What am I talking about melee? The only thing he does in melee is KNOCK YOU DOWN and hits you for 40% of your hp (I’m a warrior). I’m not buring my dodge to melee take him down since you need it for the kitten agony dodge.

This fractal is nothing short of a pain. Are the mobs supposed to DESPAWN after you break the seal or are you really supposed to fight in that tiny little room off to the right with him spamming circles all over the place that gives AGONY on top of his Nova Agony spam.

I cannot for the life of me dodge that many times and I’m using +50% endurance gain on weapon switch on top of a warhorn for +100% endurance regen.

Only way I completed this last night was to break seal (lv37). Then reset boss, clear room from entrance side and fight him in the big room. Sadly tried again, this time he bugged and had a group of vets with him that aggroed with the boss so it was impossible for the pug to do it.

What I hate about this fractal, the kitten wells inflict poison which hurts you if u try to heal from getting his from Agony and the mobs hit like a kitten truck at 30+ and are ranged. Seriously A-net can you just revert to change until you fix the kitten fractal. Otherwise I suggest players post glitches for this fractal until you (a-net) gives a kitten so people won’t waste their time on this otherwise already long fractal. (Cliffside is the longest fractal to do out of all them and this bug made it 4x longer)

Please reconsider the Orr snares, knockdowns and roots...

I seriously think A-net needs to buff the mobs, I run around with crappy rare MF gear with the god awful stats and can stand there and take a 4 man beating like a champ while mining and just walk it off np.

I too noticed this, if your looking for a bit of consistancy, I did wait until I had 40 rares. Out of the 40 I had 8 ectos and even the rune salvage rate was awful since I had 20 major runes at the end of it. Yes I am using the master salvage kit not the BL one.

Only part that is difficult is the beginning because somehow all the norns/charr (that picked the largest height) can’t seem to finish so they screw everyone else over by blocking your vision. Once they fail the rest is a piece of cake.
Beat this thing with each of my toons to get them shoes, but I loved how it was hard to get the hang of it. First time reaching the end took easily an hour of dying over and over and over again. Wouldn’t you rather feel like you accomplished a difficult task rather than have it handed to you in a silver plater?
I rather not have achievements such as “Congrats you learned to use your mouse, have a cookie”.
