How to balance classes

Right now, what is popular is to go sustain/tank build and to stack boons. You got classes like ele, warrior and what makes them strong is the ability to easily stack might with no reliable way to remove it with the exception of a heavily traited boonstrip necro.

A-Net needs to first lower the CD on Sigil of Nullification “http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Sigil_of_Nullification”, then change which boon is removed and also change “on crit” to “on hit”. Priority should be based on duration, #of stacks, type. Example, 2s stability should be lower than, 7 might stacks for 20 seconds, but not 15s of protection.

Current situation is that single boon strip abilities (ex. guardian remove a boon on burn), remove boons either randomly making it inconsistant/unreliable, or by type. Against eles which gain 2-3 different boons on attunment swap alone removing their 25 might stacks is impossible for most classes. I do not believe the classes abilities needs to be nerfed but there is a need for counterplay. Sigil of battle’s counter play should be sigil of nullification, much like how condition application sigils have their counter condition cleanse/transfer available.

I would also include a new sigil for aoe boon removal, something like the hydromancy sigil as most boons applications are aoe based.

Try it out yourself. its hilarious. Depending on the warrior skill level you might just be able to face tank them.

Med guards are the now the true kings of melee.

D/D comes in second ofc, but i find that our burst and cooldowns let us just put in enough pressure to get them on the defensive for a while if not force them off point and whatnot

Scepter op yo. 1/4s cast with 500 base atk autoatk is insane, does more than GS auto and its ranged! Not to mention scepter 2 does insane dps if ppl are standing on it and its also 1/4 cast lol.

-Moves side to side, doesn’t stand in the circle with floating blue fists in it,- Uber damage yo. Works best at near melee range.

Guardians have the worst ranged potential in game not because the damage per attack is so low but because the orb is so slow that anyone moving around at more then 600 range can easily avoid it.
Smite is also quite bad. It is a multi hit attack, not a true AOE & because it takes 4 seconds to do its full damage it can be easily avoided again by moving.

You forget about immobilize on scepter 3? You can side step but unless you’re a ranger/mesmer or running away the scepter is going to hit. Don’t give me the I can dodge anything + everything because the tells on scepter is so hard to see and the thing is 1200 range. Most classes fight close + medium ranger, scepter does rather well in most situations.

You are absolutely right, every video of these “best warrior WvW” roaming videos are cherry picked to hell or usually playing on dead T3 or below servers. Play against someone who at least has a brain and they’ll drop like a rock or run away all day.

This is why I started roaming on necro, its currently the king in 1v1 WvW and small skirmishes and best against the cheese ele/thieves/rangers/guardians that you see plaguing WvW roamers at the moment.

Bull charge is bugged.

Air + fire sigils proc on crit hits, and its 50%. What’s people’s base crit chance with zerker? 40%, so like 20% chance to proc the kitten thing. Doom sigil + geo is on swap no need to deal with RNG and works with tanky setups. Running power spec means power, precision, crit dmg. Condition spec, just cond LOL. What a joke, so yes power spec = high risk, cond spec = low risk.

Lets state some truths about the Necromancer:

-Necros are inherently a selfish class.

-Necros have low to no group utility in high end dungeons.

Pretty sure necro has the highest burst in the game since fgs nerf….(No I’m not counting icebow because most hits don’t connect) 1/4s cast time for 2 wells to do 4.7k/2.3k base and 2.5k base auto from lichform for PvE. Also I believe necro dagger auto hits harder than a warrior using axe, someone correct me if I’m wrong on dagger auto for necro. Also at the same time necro can stack decent amount of vulnerability alone.

This is what happens when you keep nerfing warriors, engineer’s main stunlock nemesis into the ground. Warriors were good at clearing + dealing with cond, something plaguing PvP, skill less cond players running tank while dumping obscene cond effortlessly.

Condition builds = Low risk, high reward. Power builds = high risk, low reward. Shame A-Net hates thieves + shatter mes and favor the mess that is what you see now. Almost every single build you see now that works is all about how well you can clear conditions or throw conditions at people. Yawn

Havoc builds are meant to be able to spike + get away, otherwords mobility. Most move in groups too, the fact you got little escape, clunky weapons for WvW you won’t do well. Longbow is awful in WvW because no one fights in your fire fields, they’ll kite you for days. Enjoy dumping fire fields just to cleanse conditions and dumping your high damage LB3 blast finisher on nothing.

Are you in Tier1 servers? If not then it’ll explain why you think your build is a good idea.

The Importance of Might

Knowledge of might stacking be useful for new players but a better advice for them is to make sure attacks land. Burning all your blast finishers and hitting nothing is a big waste and just opens you up to ranged counter attacks, best tip you can give to players is simply to tell them which abilities to start with first. I,e before using blast finishers on enemy drop a fire/water field so if someone dodges out of it you still get the benefits of combo effects.

Server "full" issues

That’s hard for SoS. They melt upon impact.

Blackgate has 5 times our numbers, we are outnumbered all day long, and we cannot even recruit people to fight back because our server is “full”. Get this: our maps are empty but the server is full. Why? This is beyond broken.

It’s easy to imagine that somewhere down the code Megaservers do not really exists, it’s all mixed servers and PvE population is still calculated on top of WvW server population. It’s a big mess that should be fixed immediately.

Anet has to reset WvW server population according to the actual number of playing WvW, not according to some abstract calculation of people who joined that server before megaservers were made and perhaps do not even play the game anymore.

You guys do have the wvw force to compete in t1. Always 250k lead in t2. Just SoS is full of fairweathers. Watch next week where you won’t be outnumbered but outnumber mag and FA.

SoS doesn’t have anywhere near the people to become remotely competitive in T1. Have you even taken 1 look at the score? The only reason they have been winning by 250k in T2 is because of the collapse of Mag. Even TC’s SEA easily outnumbers that of SoS, and they are supposed to be “weak” during that time. Just like every other server, SoS has had a very noticeable increase in the weekly matchup. Sure, being up against SoS sucks a bit. It is nothing in comparison to what it is like being up against TC. Just because SoS is dwarfed by T1, that doesn’t mean they are fairwhether. Not that you would know how to even use that word properly seeing how often you love to throw it around like it is your own personal catch phrase.

You seem to love to spew kitten at every opportunity you can, my guess is that you are from Mag and you are still bitter about your own server’s failings. nothing says “fairwhether” like a server implosion. Go sit in the corner with Bucket Lips so you can cry about big meanie SoS and kitten all night.

In general SoS WvW players quality is definitely lacking, on pushes they’re more expected to flee should a similar force comes their way. This might be due to the abundance of rangers who like to stay out of harms way and always have the I’m ready to pull out and bail on the rest of their teammates mind set. Same goes with JQ, lesser on TC. Like what my friend on JQ told me, if they’re not winning they give up.

Siege Troll Discussion

If its about dropping needless siege ie. ballistas in front of gate. There is a very simple fix. When anyone tosses down a blueprint, there should be an icon on top of it to show WHAT the piece of siege is superior siege can be colored gold, then you let people select that siege by clicking on that icon itself so they can build that specific one ignoring all other troll siege.

Ultimately, anyone who knows better will not build useless siege (ballistas) by a gate.

Edited: To prevent people from waste keep supply the best option with least amount of abuse is simply to have a player voting system where with enough votes or report, the player in question will be locked out of throwing down blueprints for 24h.

If a map contains 80 players at most, 90% of the time supply wasters will get called out in map chat, if half of the players on that map reports it he’ll get locked out. I can’t think of any other way where people can circumvate this because it’s a player base and regulated by the players themselves. This should have certain parameters such as, only players on the specific map can use this voting system and when player count on map is less than 10, that number should be 70% of all players must vote on it.

Devs actually DO suggest things like this to their QA team, and then they have people actually test this. I do agree on some changes you proposed, but I rather they fix some of the old skills as they are rather questionable to what they do at the moment. Mostly healing surge, healing surge in general should straight up heal for a flat amount, not force you to never use adrenaline just so your heal/second matches the passive healing signet.

The only real fixes for physical abilities (kick,stomp) they need is to make them less clunky like how they changed hammer 4 from a self-root to simple instant cast. Warriors in general aren’t nimble, which is why they fail so often.

How is kick clunky? kick is a small aoe knockback with ok damage that doesnt have a ridiculous animation time. Pretty fun to use.

I kinda agree with stomp, that skill is so ridiculously telegraph that anybody can easily dodge it. You are practically stuck in place.

I actually agree with Zefrost suggestions to some extent. He is basically adding utility to warriors weapon skills.

The kick range is bad and like most warrior’s weapons kills + physical utilities that involve movement they are all hindered by cripple/chill reducing the effective gap close/range making them clunky to use.

Don’t worry, next patch we will get a tactics grandmaster trait that stops/slows the decay.

This will most likely be the case, best if they make that strength GM trait that gives 2 strikes of adrenaline/3s, because at the moment that trait is beyond useless.

It’s funny, the one good thing about rifle pre-adrenaline nerf was to get a possible hit on people unsuspecting before a fight starts. Now it’s not possible as you need to first alert the person then somehow get a full 3 bar and sit still for 3s for the shot to go off.

Would of been nice to try to count dodges on people, but with blind,aegis, energy sigil, cc. Trying to get it to hit is like trying to get the stars and moon to align and reveal the secret passageway to Narnia only to tend see it finally succeed and notice the shot wasn’t even a crit… 50% crit chance.

I have no idea why people saying necro is underpower. Necro is most likely one of the best support in the game for sPvP when dealing with people using conditions. Signet of undead (forget name) takes conditions from your teammates in a 1200 radius, this lets my teammates not even bother traiting for cond removal and I can use it on the enemy and literally bomb them with it.

In terms of death shroud, it’s working as intended and doesn’t really need fixing. Also DS is based off vit/toughness, I can’t tell you how broken this is as I’ve tanked 3 players trying to burst me down and can’t even kick me out of DS because spectral armor kicked in and I’m getting more life force % per hit than they can deal. Seriously, all the decent players left the game and all you got left are the bads crying left and right instead of understanding why they lost in the first place.

If you want to make EVERYONE HAPPY, the solution is rather simple. Give the option to revert to the old TP, as of now some enjoy it while others don’t. It’s got some nice functionality while losing on some other points such as seeing all items into one easy display instead of showing 10 at a time like the old one.

I’ve never found a one size fits all to the best in pleasing everyone but after 2 years, most vets have found the same old same old to be the best/familiar. Slight tweaks I would of done is to improve on buying, instead of having to constantly relist my buy order at said price/quantity for each stack I’ll like to remember what I just ordered after I clicked by.

Was called a cheese mother kitten earlier in a sPvP game, as far as I’m concerned Warrior needs another fat nerf. Hopefully nerfing healing signet, cleansing ire + zerker stance to pre-buff state that way its warrior will be known universally as a free kill so people will stop pm’ing me hate messages about how my class is nothing but face roll.

Shortening LB2 by 50% means a straight up 50% dps increase, because you take less time to go through it. Also you’re forgetting the free grandmaster trait given to every range using signets, you don’t even need to trait for it, all signets now affect you too.

Also this is more viable b/c every ranger now has an improved version of endure pain/balance stance of their warrior counter part. 6s damage immunity + 8s stability/25% dmg increase/50% movement speed (you cannot boon strip the last two parts). Also warriors do not have a pet that deals damage and CC, and a free stealth and kittentier range.
Anyways I’m glad my bearbow got buffed, eating thieves and everyone alive lol.

Free grandmaster trait? You mean that our signets finally do what every other professions signets do? They apply the buff to us instead of our little npc walking handicap.

Yes, if you compare pre patch, you had to trait for this now you don’t. Also I said 50% damage increase on LB 2 skill specifically, not for the long bow in general. Note rangers got a straight up BUFF, and from what I saw no nerfs on a kitten thing to level the playing field.

So far, I’ve wrekted eles, every single warrior i’ve come across, rangers + their almighty lb, 2 necros at once, thieves. Haven’t seen many guardians and a PU mesmer eventually chipped my hp away on point fight after i decapped point + capped it and held for 20seconds. Overall still good, but tons of bads in sPvP atm. Also nerf PU mesmer pls, torment never goes away

you did:
Lowered base damage by 8%.
This skill now deals 50% more damage to foes below 50% health.

So its a only 42% more dmg below 50% health..
Where this skill did terrible dmg it now does slightly less terrible dmg ONLY below 50% health or else it does even worse compared to before.

Math is wrong. If its base is nerfed by 8%, it’s actually (1.0-0.08) x 1.5 = 1.38 meaning it got a 38% damage buff hitting people below 50% hp.

Lol, started using GS again and remembered why it was absolutely horrendous, GS 5 misses 90% of the time on moving targets. People do not even need to dodge they just need to move a bit and dude with gs won’t hit a thing. GS auto is a joke, HB is horrible since people never sit still, whirl means you’ll create distance from your enemy, blade trail is ok though.
GS is really a running away weapon anyways.

You must of died from so many cond roamers. Oh well, a montage only shows the wins not the mountain of deaths. You’re only cond removal is hitting someone with the axe/gs burst, bad build if your not taking cond into account.

Against a lame condition user, one can always reset the fight.

In otherwords, you run away from 80% of all roamers in wvw (b/c easily 60% of em run perplexity cond cheese). Also you must run away often and early in a fight since almost all cond users run at least +80% condition duration bonuses from food, giver wep, traitlines.

Nah they want warrior because, 3 warriors = 3 banners, 3 x"for great justice",3 x shake it off(condition removal) wich means might and fury upkeep 24/7, not to mention the huge dmg from hundred blades, i can go on but the topic is not about wich class is most effective in pve its about the incoming nerfs and how the affect it.

Uhh. First no on 3 warriors = 3 banners. It’s more like 1 warrior running the 2 dps banners, empower and 2 eles giving everyone +50s of fury + 25 might stacks. Eles also do more damage than warriors period with staff 2 + auto or lightning hammer.
In fact you wouldn’t use GS trait because you’ll overwrite the elementalist’ 28s~ might stack for your lackluster 5s might duration.

These are good changes, all physical skills are a joke right now. Stomp → pushes people AWAY from you, when you want the opposite also its a 0.5s stun on yourself since you can’t move while doing it. Kick, same as stomp. Bola is way to slow and will miss most of the time. Worst of all, taking any of these means not taking anything defensive utilities meaning one less stun break/stability meaning you’ll be a human ping pong ball/ pin cushion when people are tossing cond/cc your way.

Necro isn’t too hard to beat, the only thing you should be crying about is how roaming PU mesmers going to be unkillable “oh GOD THE TORMENT NEVER GOES AWAY, I just died” machines. There’s just no fighting them. Also tbh, I found killing warriors with conds to be insanely ez since warriors are just awfully slow and clunky. Try fighting an engineer that knows how to kite, you either stick on him and eat every nade or he kills you from afar with cond. Note the good engineers are the ones that just don’t fight in the fire field and kill you outside of it before taking the point back.

I don’t think you can just compare stick and move to elusive power and conclude stick and move is underpowered because you’re just comparing raw numbers and not taking into account that both exist in different contexts (i.e. one is on warrior, one is on guardian).

However, I’ve always been puzzled by the 3%. Why that particular number? 5% would seem like a more fitting number if you didn’t want to crank it all the way to 10%, but they ended up choosing 3%.

I think one of the main reasons they didn’t make stick and move +10% is because it’s already in the power tree. Thus you’d be getting all this power, and then a +10% on top of it would be quite a bit. In comparison, elusive power is in a defensive attribute trait tree, so the effect is not as profound by default. Of course, various other professions do have bonuses that high on their power trees, so I’m not sure that the logic holds true.

Of course, one could also make the argument that such a powerfully offensive trait has no business being a defensive trait line, especially when the minor traits in that line are much more tailored to giving the guardian dodge rolls than the strength tree is for the warriors (i.e. vigor uptime vs. 15 endurance on burst).

Because in the past, A-Net wanted to use warrior as the baseline for all other classes. Unfortunately in back then warrior was the laughing stock of the entire GW2 sPvP, where people would rather have a ranger pet over warrior. Instead it ended up being any other class cannot suck as bad as warrior back in the day baseline.
Because of this, all day1 traits were left untouched since then. It took A-Net more than a year to change warrior’s old 0.1% burst damage per trait point over to -1% cd on burst recharge skills, I wouldn’t hold your breath when warrior is going to get any kind traitline updates. Yes 0.1% burst dmg, because maxing out the trait line will give you a solid 3% burst dps, this is how ridiculously bad the warrior was for 1year+.

The only reason why GWEN is good in WvW is because of the numbers players there are in the game mode. You’re looking at 80 on each side, when this number is reduced to something like 10 or 8, its horrible, almost every AoE is going to hit you and you’ll never catch anybody chasing down one guy while everyone else raining hell on you from afar or killing the guy in the back.
If you look at GvG, you’ll know everyone runs a pick team, a team killing off one after another as a thief/mesmer instead of your standard GWEN.

Edited: Also I’m am solely using WvW as an example because WvW open field fighting has nothing forcing you to fight in enclosed areas where longbow warriors can completely lock down an area with fire fields giving him a massive advantage over yourself. Players can utilize their mobility and disengage something warriors not not have with hambow which players are always so adamant about as to why they are so strong.

WvW is the one mode where everyone’s builds/playstyle is MOST diverse. There are players who trait specifically for groups fight, people who go for solo, sniping, mobility etc. Yet they are ALL effective and work well. This is where balance is most fair at the moment, not in sPvP where its one build per class and nothing else works as well.

Like for example anything OTHER than sitting on a point would already make balance alot closer to what is it in WvW. In WvW people fight over large areas and this is where the terrible weapon combos such as rifle warrior, long bow rangers shine in sPvP. Right now, most of the fighting is done over a small area which is why when people complain about hambow being OP and what now. Move that to large battle areas hambow are completely worthless as no one is going to fight in their fire fields and they can be kited to hell and can’t disengage as well as other builds.

Don’t get me wrong, a few tweaking here and there but minor nonetheless. But from what I see, fighting on a tiny point and being tanky to hold said point is the only reason why “x” class is more op than another. Hell even in WvW a ranger with sick’em will literally absolutely lock down and spell instant death for stealth-spam mesmers/thieves.

I welcome the change, every warrior nerf I get less and less insults from players calling me bad or cheeseing everytime they lose to me. I get called hambow trash when I’m not even using a bow every other game I play out of nowhere. Been playing warrior in spvp right after quickness nerf when he was trash tier, and I back then I was never cursed at. So yes nerf warrior into the ground, so people will leave me the hell alone.

So I got all of these ages ago, and they’re taking up a ton of space. Normally if it was one of two, it’s no problem but its just simply NOT the case for me. I’d assume A-Net has no plans to do anything with them so I’m asking the following.

Can A-Net convert all of my fotm weapons I found into skins where I can apply them without using a transmutation charge? Can they just send the number of charges so I can get rid of these finally? I really need the room.

I hope zerker stance gets buffed to counter the absolutely ridiculous cond meta plaguing PvP atm. WvW roaming thief p/d with krait runes is broken as ever, and the inherent NERF to crit dmg both in PvE + sPvP (even though A-Net said they liked how crit dmg was in sPvP, but went ahead and nerfed it through the trait lines. Yes you guys straight up lied saying you were ok with it in sPvP).

Why they decided to buff already a broken cond meta by increasing cond durations on sigils by 2x is just beyond me. Warriors were popular because 9/10 players loved running cond builds and it countered em.

Sorry this is a team oriented game. Ele are very strong 1v1 and with the recent buff and warrior nerfs across the entire table, or are you still living in the glory days where eles can 2v1 in spvp and 10v1 in WvW?

Most likely just outplayed. You need to work on warrior combos, whether ur doing a stun chain or just doing sustained damage. Every class has specific skills they chain to deal optimal damage, if your missing em no amount of stats is going to help you.

Lol. So many angry EU players, like I said in my previous post GvG you got it but outside of that you’re the same as every other guild on NA. I never cared for GvG as its just a competition of who’s stacking more warriors/guardians/necros and weeding out the weak links, boring.
I’m glad RG remembered how badly wrecked they got outside gvg at every turn, also I’m not from TSYM nice try. I had a good chuckle when they keep posting videos of them killing upleveled pugs 2x their numbers in 1/10 attempts and boosting about how amazing they are.

I think EU guilds in general tends to think themselves as superior in every way since every EU guilds that came over to NA had massive superiority complex. I remember when the “best” WvW (Sarcx guild) guild came over while they were good in GvG, they got completely destroyed in actual WvW by every single SoR guild every single time. SoR guilds didn’t map blob them, they had guild commanders tell each other to back off and only let 1 guild engage them one at a time while others watched.

They are no different then NA players except the fact that EU guilds tends to be more tryhard than anything else, but no better imo.

why would you purchase a set you already owned?

Because I bought it well before we knew anything about the wardrobe change. I got it first day they put the vendor out thinking we could eventually use it in PvE because I got several toons of the same race and I wanted T3 armor on more than one toon.

So I bought two sets of T3 armor from glory vendor which I already have in PvE because I thought back then we could use them in PvE but apparently with the new system I’m pretty much going to lose out on 60g+60k glory since I’m going to need to transmute them on get skins I’ve already unlocked through PvE vendors.

Are we going to get a refund for this?
