The more these games change, the more they stay the same.
8 classes in game. All 8 class forums are upset over their classes nerfs. Every class is upset and feels it’s underpowered ….so they are going to shelf that character and either roll another class or quit.
Very amusing.
Maybe make it a pet ability …but only usable when a thief attacks and trys to restealth. That way he can move around stealth as usual, but when he unstealths to attack, he doesn’t have the usual get out of jail free card when things aren’t going his way.
Just found this in the PvP forum …………………………
“According to Jon Peters in the mists a few hours ago:
- The profession part of the upcoming patch notes is roughly 5 pages long.
- ~16 bullet points for rangers.
- ~30 bullet points for engis.
- Mesmers saw the fewest number of changes.
- “Tons” of bug fixes.
- “Some” balance changes.
- Portal is a cool ability that’s important to the game but has some problems (whatever that means from their perspective idk).
- The ability to use custom dyes in pvp is possibly coming in a December patch.
- Broken treb and lord announcements should be fixed soon.
- Target of target and player cast bars are low priority but something they might look at in the future.
- Probably no hope of ever letting us disable the terrible skill queue.
- Custom rankings, obs mode, etc. all “on the way” (as usual)."
Few things -
1. Stealth in this game is considerably more powerful than stealth in many other MMO’s.
The ability to constantly weave in and out of stealth in the middle of combat is way stronger than having perma stealth out of combat and then being stuck out of stealth once you engage with the potential ability to re-enter stealth by blowing a longish cd.
Damage not breaking stealth is also pretty huge..
Great points. It is true that many MMOs need to rebalance the assassian class after release. I remember when DAOC was released. Assassians could one shot people and stay in stealth.
…increases pet attributes with each kill. Pet deactivates = bond reset
So this trait discourages pet swapping ? …which negates Zephyrs Speed and Mighty Swap ?
It’s quite amazing actually… my shark with 25 stacks of masters bond ends up with… well lets just say his power goes over 3k and everything unlucky enough to meet him underwater dies very quickly….
Now for my land pets (which it’s MUCH more common for me to get to 25 stacks on due to the whole, more of the game is above water sort of thing =( ) my wolf AND drake (both have the same power) 2218 power, this causes both of them (keep in mind all of the drakes attacks are AoE) to deal a significant amount of damage.
In PvP masters bond becomes all the more lethal, MULTIPLE times in tPvP have i just threw the Sick’Em! shout on some poor roamer just to see a few seconds later “Wilson has killed <insert player name here>” and then once the stacks get going your pet becomes nothing short of a god, especially since a lot of people are to stupid to target the pet with masters bond that is critting their face for ~3k or more per hit(pre Sick’Em!) And don’t even get me started on the cats… lets just say, a cat with 25 stacks of mastersbond is not something you want to come across in 1v1 let alone if the rangers there…
PS: With full stack of masters bond pets end up stronger then most players (this is assuming you have 30pts in beast mastery as well) in PvP it’s VERY easy to get to 25 stacks as long as YOU ARE NOT DYING because they will almost never focus your pet, which makes them quickly spiral out of control and by the time they realize your pet, it already has 20 stacks and that’s far to late for them to bring it down in anything short of a 2v1.
Reading your response gives me the impression that you have Masters Bond on both land pets …which I thought was impossible due to the mechanics of the skill ?
Nice to hear Rangers are going to get some love. I’m a newbie – lvl 24 – but I seem to recall that in DAOC archers always got a +distance bonus based being on castle walls, etc. I remember sitting on a wall with a bunch of archers waiting for a caster to get close and then boom. Like to see that in GW2 and it is historically/physically accurate.
It took years for Daoc to fix Scouts. They were worse off than Rangers in GW2 are today. Eventually they were fixed and became a solid class.
Point is, I won’t be surprised if it is just a minor adjustment on the 15th. Players won’t be dancing in the streets after the patch
I have had Zephyers speed for a few levels now. I am guessing it is only useful for the pet when you are fighting melee style. If you are using bows the pet morphs beside you when you switch. Quickness is over by the time he gets back into the fight.
You’re right, this is quite the puzzle to solve. DeVinci Code ?

Just did a few hours in PvP and added Hide in Plain Sight. I don’t recall it ever going off. What are the mechanics behind it and how do you know it’s up ?
Thanks
Situation : Soloing in PvE
Healing Spring sounds great, but I don’t know how much help it would be when you are kiting around with mobs chasing you. For that reason I have been using Troll Unguent.
Am I doing it wrong ?
That is pretty cool. So I can create each class once…bump him to 80 and get an idea what they can do in a know thy enemy sort of thing.
Nice feature
So the build I use while I level is irrelevent to pvp because I make a pvp build when I enter.
WvW it uses my actual build at the time….it just bumps me to 80 …correct ?
Thank you
So to confirm.
A level 20 bumped to 80 in PvP is the same strength as everyone else. You can respec multiple times and try different traits and gear out.
A level 20 bumped to WvW is going to have a tough time.
I know it is hard to quantify, but how close is a manafactured 80 to a leveled 80 …75% ..50%?

Bought the game last week. Made a Ranger and so far so good. I entered WvW and it bumps you to 80. PvP bumps you to 80 and gives you all your trait points and EQ/Weapon upgrades.
So the question I have is how much difference in strength between a true level 80 in PvP and a bumped 80 ?
Thanks
