Ban Asurans From TOL 2

in PvP

Posted by: Freeelancer.2860

Freeelancer.2860

I wouldn’t want to lock anyone from playing their favorite race (if that is the reason they picked Asura in the first place).. Not to mention grief that would surely come in solo/teamq after players learned that Asuras were straight up banned from a legit tournament.

So how about an option in custom arenas to enlarge the Asuran model to Sylvari size whenever a match starts?

EDIT: just realized that Chaotic basically said the same thing…

I don’t think anyone is asking for a handout here nor are they asking to be pampered. However, if you follow the thread, you will see pretty solid proof that many would like to see an alternative to jumping (even if it is difficult combat) in order to progress a paid for story so that disconnects, poor PC’s and disabilities don’t take away the enjoyment of some players.

P.S. I truly hope your father’s health improves.

edit: clarity

And on the other side of the argument we have the fact that there are only a couple of necessary jumps and that for each one of them the ONLY requirement is to press “1” followed by “forward” during a 15-30 seconds window. There is literary no excuse not to be able to do such a simple task for anyone who is already able to play GW2 in the first place.
I appreciate the fact that some people dislike jumping/jumping puzzles, have terrible internet or have issues with hand-eye coordination, short term memory, muscle reflexes, object recognition or anything else outside of their power that could hamper their progress… But if one is able to type in replies on this thread, one is able to do the bare minimum of jumping required for completing Living Story, and that is the only thing that counts.

Ok now cover one eye and place a film of hazy glass over the other. While you’re at it have a dial up connection that is prone to lag and DC’s; because for some reason those that are handicapped cannot afford the best. Everyone is different and although I can empathize (kinda a novelty here) with those that say the devs’s should not have to make everything for everyone, as a paid for episode (gems) it behooves them to make it as accessible as possible. I must iterate that adding a second path (combat oriented) for a other players to possibly help him through is IMO not to much to ask here.

Also if you and your ilk are what passes for empathy in this world then I cry for the future of the human species.

Funny you mention those conditions… My brother is 47 years old, has one functioning eye and that one has 3/10 vision because of cataract. On top of that, the only kind of games he plays are point&click or tower defense casual games. He would be quite able to go through this content (albeit with some difficulty, and probably not during the sand storms).

I do know exactly where some of the people on this thread are coming from. I’ve taken care of my father who had multiple strokes for 10 years, and I’m or have been close to other relatives with disabling/debilitating illnesses. Just because I disrespect your lack of willpower and adaptability doesn’t mean I’m not empathic, in fact it’s just the opposite. Allot of the times I’ve found that hard love is what you need to make a person achieve something or better himself (or gather the strength to eat and live one day more).
In my oppinion, pampering and reducing to absolutely lowest common denominator would serve no good to neither those affected by current difficulty nor the rest of the player base.

EDIT to my previous post:
I just went through the map beginning to end, and grabbed a skill point along the way, with the biggest norn in biggest armor, using only arrow keys and only 2 fingers (had to tie my other fingers to stop them from interfering). I only used mouse twice to target lightning skill.
I am not a 12 year old whippersnapper, far from it, and I didn’t grow up playing Mortal Combat or CoD or whatever kids are playing these days.

I shall reiterate: the poster did not say jumping should be removed he/she said that the game at least gave you an option to progress through the game without participating in that sport.

And it has been reiterated time and time again that to progress through the game there are very few jumps and each and every one of those are ridiculously easy (unless you consider pressing “1” and “forward” at the same time hard content).
There is a minimal amount of required jumping and anyone who has 2 fingers and 1 functional eye should be able to move through content without any major difficulties.

Achievement hunters and map completionists do need “advanced” skills, but that is another story completely.

The fact that you can find a bunch of people (even on this small thread) saying something is OP, but everyone disagreeing what exactly is OP is the only proof you need about balance being quite decent.

If everything is OP nothing is OP. Switch your build or scream for help if you are countered.

This is called power creep and it’s bad for games. If everything is OP then everything is OP.

Here’s a handy video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bxszx60ZwGw

Except there is close to zero powercreep in PvP (the only thing that you could call a powercreep was recent change to runes or sigils on 2h weapons, but even those are debatable).
No, the issue here is that people get roflstomped and they can’t handle it so they lash out at “balance” or “ANet”.

Is not that I suck, is that everyone else is using cheeze.. or cheats.. or both..

@Brother Grimm: Well, I must be really lucky then since probably around 1/2 of what I have came from TP, and I’ve rarely spent more then an hour a week on it.

@mtpelion: Thanks for the suggestion. Alas, that is already my primary source of TP income
It does have everything that you mentioned, but I was hoping for something that is closer to the regular investments… something a bit less time dependent, maybe a bit more profitable, but something that can be reached with comparable amount of effort.. but it looks like that’s just a pipe dream after all, and I’m just wasting everyone’s time.

@tolunart: Thanks for your advice as well. I do already have some t5 and t6 mats stocked (I’m kinda hoping t6 price will drop sometime soon before I get a stack or two more).
I do however disagree about the living story part. From dev video posted a couple of days back, the only repeatable part will be the story itself (instanced content) which will grant us what previously was meta achievement loot. The rest of the content should follow the same rules as earlier releases.

Right, it looks like I should’ve elaborated a bit more on my situation. My apologies for being too laconic.

By lazy I mean I don’t like to click a bunch of times for 10000 silver ingots or to open 1250 heavy loot bags or craft 750 rare lv73 swords… and then rinse and repeat day in/day out.
Upgrading materials, making items in bulk, buying low, refining/crafting/salvaging and selling high may all be a great investment… but, while finding a market may be somewhat exciting (not really, there’s tons of ways to make money on TP) the rest of the process is terribly time consuming and mind-numbingly dull for me.
I’m looking for something bigger and I don’t mind lower margins or whatever.. After all, in my mind, it’s better to get 1% ROI on 5000g item that I can sell in a few days then having 50% ROI on 500g bulk items that sell like hot cakes, but having to work my kitten off. I hope I’m making sense..

In short, what I’m trying to say is that I’d rather work as an investment banker then a meat packing king who prefers to get down and dirty instead of managing his empire from his villa.

EDIT: I guess another way to describe what I’m looking for is a market that values time investment over raw profits.

Afk Plague in the Pavillon

in Festival of the Four Winds

Posted by: Freeelancer.2860

Freeelancer.2860

Personally, I was always about what’s fair. In this case I think it’d be fair if everyone gave their best for the event to succeed, whether that means bringing the best character and equipment you can get, not sitting AFK, donating 20s (if you are able), opening bags after you are finished with the Pavillion etc.
Alternatively, it’d be fair if we all came with our underleveled characters and used Pavillion for leveling while being AFK and waiting for some schmuck to start the event.

If most of the people are giving their best to be as effective as possible, that doesn’t mean you should give your worst with the justification that they will succeed with or without you. That’s just rude and selfish.

I see where you’re coming from.. I too have only finished all the achievements in the Bazaar, and did a couple of dolly races/crystal collections, which are fun events, but not enough to keep someone occupied for very long.
However, I don’t remember seeing secondary ship last time we were in the Bazaar, and looking at cinematic from this year it’s almost a centerpiece. I’m hoping there’s new content coming from there in next LS release.

I do spend tons of time in Jubilee.. Spending tickets on absurd chances for a drop, and having fun doing the bosses.. It ain’t Wurm or Teq, but it’s relatively fun, and much more profitable then either.

This is the most concerning, and honestly saddening, statement for me. Is this really the direction the game is going to go? If so I know I won’t make it long and most certainly will not be spending cash on this game in the future. I hope this event was a mistake, but my head tells me that this is the direction the game is going. They can’t let players get too much loot because it hurts the cash shop. Too many players will have enough gold to trade for gems to buy the new items instead of using cash. Bottom line that is what I see and they won’t change that. I love (d) this game and played in every beta I could, stayed up late on release day, and have played many hours. I am truly saddened because I do feel the game I loved is gone.

Breachmaker, Battle for Lions Arch, Wurm, Tequatl, EotM (unfortunately that one backfired horribly) and now the Festival.. They all have the same mechanics of deterring the zerging, and in most cases reward more those that don’t then those that do.

It took me one downing of Phyroxis to figure out the entire event (both splitting up and timed kills), and I am truly saddened that so many people have such trouble with using some simple logic and instead resort to drawing biased conclusions.

Fortunately, those with more perseverance/willpower are learning relatively fast. Tequatl is being downed by pugs all the time, most people don’t even use TS anymore at all, Wurm is being downed from time to time as well and 0 commander pug groups can already selforganize for silver or even gold.

Pavillion Boss HP Reset

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Freeelancer.2860

Freeelancer.2860

Started as a minor annoyance, but it is becoming worse now that overall efficiency increased.

Sometimes groups aren’t able to perfectly coordinate the kills of all 6 bosses leaving one boss on small amount of HP after the rest are killed.
The problem is that some pugs join the last fight and, with enough people joining, a bug appears where the boss HP is reset to full.

This bug is not yet as pronounced as it could be, but with more and more people “figuring out” the fight and splitting in small groups (this bug doesn’t appear when zerging) it could become a real hindrance since there are always some people who will swarm the last boss.

Why is there no loot or Xp in the Pavillion?

Close, but no cigar.

In all seriousness, I’ve actually found a mix of 30% organized (as in either know what they are doing or are listening on TS) and 70% pugs the best ratio. Pugs are way less stingy then organized people and their constant blunders keep everyone on their toes.
It’s not as healthy or laid back as full organized groups, but it’s way faster.

In short, the magical strategy is to get a couple of people and get organizin’, spammin’ and yellin’. I’ve almost gotten silver participation yesterday morning working with only 2-3 people and 0 tags.

I wasn’t actually playing at the time, I’d surrendered the PC to my husband and was watching over his shoulder but I think it was 8 or 9 champion bags, plus gold and karma for the event reward.

Thank you for your reply.

EDIT: And yes, I agree that scaling seems a bit weird in the same way you described.

I did ONE run of this last night and 2 of the 6 bosses went down simultaneously in ~5 or 6 minutes. The rest took much more than that EACH and were done in series.

I have no doubt 6 groups of 6-ish could complete this in “gold” time. I still don’t see the incentive for running it after one has his achievements – even with Gold rewards of a handfulla greens and some bloody bloodstone dusts.

I strongly disagree. A champion bag per minute is more then you’d get from playing even the best, most organized, pre-nerfed champion trains, and on top of that gold/karma rewards.. with all of that, this event would be even more farmable then the old pavilion.
And I’m guessing that once the bads/whiners leave and people start getting gold rewards reliably they will be nerfed. That is, if rewards aren’t already diminishing..

The reward seems to be the same no matter how many bosses you personally fought and if you get gold reward it’s more than 1 bag per champion.

I don’t know how other maps have been handling it but mine (Desolation/EU Megaserver) managed to get gold reward at least once last night by splitting into 6 groups (with 6 commanders). Each group fought 1 boss then waited in the middle so they didn’t scale up the others and they went down very quickly.

Do you remember what were the exact rewards from Gold chest ? And how long did the round last ?

I’ve tried organizing (with several other people) a map I was on, but even after three tries and a massive improvement in performance, we still failed to get even silver participation..
I’m assuming that after all of the “this is bullkitten I can’t zerg/1111” people are gone it’ll be much easier to organize a proper round, but I’d like to know if it’s worth the trouble.

Guys, guys! What we need is to remove speed cap and introduce jetpacks, Molten Facility style. Then we can have WH40k type of battles in air with Charzookas and flying Asuran golems!

Or even better, skillshots while jumping around at 200+ kph like in Tribes.
