Often when we get error messages, it’s a pain to properly understand what the error means. It contains a mix of technical information and unintelligible numbers.
Please review all the error messages that we can face and put some natural language behind it.
The best example that comes to mind is when I try to connect to a NA dungeon instance as a European customer (yeah, late night + beers + gw2lfg.com do that sometimes). Well, I have no clue of what I do wrong. I simply get an error “can’t connect to <IP address>”. Hey, I don’t care about the IP address. The game client should know I’m trying to connect to an American server while I usually play on European servers and the client should show me that information. I’ll really care about the IP address when I’m sure the instance I’m entering is European for instance.
Since nearly all messages are technobabble (like in Star Trek where what they say only makes sense to scientists with a huge background in Star Trek itself), how can you expect that we properly identify an error done by us and an actual bug? I’m in the programming world and I should be thinking about what’s wrong and infer the actual error. But hey, for me GW2 is a game, a way to get the work out of my head. So while I can try and spend the time to understand the issue, most of the time I press “OK” without reading and do something else.
So proper messages is interesting for both you and us as you will get actual errors and we will properly understand what we did wrong.
You should visit WvW more often: our “middle” garrison was taken by you and Ring of Fire several times this past week.
Hi,
I finished crafting Sunrise and equipped it yesterday evening. I have the achievement “Legendary Collector” tier 1 now, but when I’m on my “character selection” screen, I don’t see the “Legendary Treasures” image.
Could you please fix this?
I’m now reaching again half a million Karma by playing normally and without doing any hardcore karma grinding.
I’ve spent all the Karma needed for my legendary (not yet complete thanks to the current insane prices of TP, but that’s another story). I’ve found my favorite equipment look from what is offered to me and here I am with half a million karma, sleeping on my character.
Another character of mine is doing really fine as a cook to produce food for all my characters, so I don’t need to teach cook to my main char.
Now, what’s left to do with Karma? Spend it recklessly in Obsidian Shards to get random T6 mats? Once I have 250, 500 or 1000 of each again, what’s next? Craft food for other people? I don’t wanna play the TP game.
Don’t get me wrong: Karma is a great tool needed to (try to) slow the legendary grind, but beyond that, I really fail to see what’s it purpose. I love this game: I haven’t spent so much time in one game since Fallout 2, but is it Anet’s goal that regular players (read: non-hardcore) like me hit the barrier?
So what? Is this all you can do with Karma? There are countless gold sinks in this game. Where are the Karma ones?
Please use different icons for the charged sliver and charged fragment. Both currently share the same icon, where all other rare crafting mats have different icons.
Hello,
My server isn’t really active in doing Balthazar’s Temple. I’ve already gone there 3 times in the past, but this time is the final one and it’s the only thing really blocking me for my legendary . Tbh I haven’t all of the other ingredients but getting those isn’t a real issue that time can’t solve; Balthazar is though, since it hasn’t been active in more than 1 month, despite me launching regularly groups in the past few weeks.
So what I’d like is to find a server where the temple is under Pact Control, buy my shards and come back to my server, all that within 1 day. How much would that cost me?
Thanks!
When you finish a fractal, a popup to go to the next fractal shows up.
If the exit fractal popup is already present at that moment, the popup doesn’t show and we can’t go further.
Collective suicide doesn’t solve this.
Hello,
We recently had an issue in Ascalonian Catacombs, path 1 (Howling King).
After getting the scepter pieces, we go in the tunnel, but we don’t see any message. We go further and the Howling King is simply missing.
What we did, in order:
- We destroyed the first burrow near the entrance
- We killed the spider and the scavenger after that
- We went in the room with the 6 burrows and succeed (I ported in before the doors opened, though to get the scepter faster)
- The Troll spawned in the room left to Kohler, so we killed Kholer with the Troll and then the troll.
- We killed the grubs in the room left to Kholer
- We skipped the gravelings, but not the oozes.
- We got the scepter pieces without killing mobs
- We skipped the scavenger champion and ran to the North path in the King room.
- No Howling King spawned
- We went back by foot, took every path possible and killed everything (except in the scepter pieces room), making sure Hodgins was following us and went back several times to the Howling King room, using different paths.
I hope this is detailed enough to help you find the issue!
Have a nice day
I’d like to know where and when I can “farm” charged lodestones. The wiki is not really verbose about this.
This is what I know:
- They spawn at random in chests or on champions and legendary mobs in CoE;
- We can get them in FotM;
- On sparks, at a few locations after a specific event occured:
- East of Karst Plain in Malchor’s Leap;
- Below the Bitter Mountain POI in Cursed Shores;
- In the Promenade of the Gods in Cursed Shores.
What I don’t know is:
1. Are there other places where I can drop these?
2. What is the event needed to unlock the spawning of sparks?
3. Where can I find charged cores that I can then turn into lodestones using the Mystic forge?
Thanks to whoever will answer these questions
@MethodicMockingbird.6520:
The whole point of a legendary weapon is the unique skin. So unless the answer to my question is yes, you shouldn’t be able to find any exotic with a legendary skin.
So please, given the time invested and the risk I’d take, if you don’t know, don’t answer.
Hi,
I’m about to finish my legendary weapon. However I don’t like the stats of it. Can I safely transmute the Legendary skin onto another exotic weapon with more appropriate stats? Wouldn’t I lose the “Legendary” specificities like a purple text, the name, etc.?
Thanks!
I said they should be account bound on acquire, so not tradeable.
Make all items account bound on acquire and soul bound on use, rather than soul bound on acquire. It makes sense only with items acquired through karma and personal story. All the rest should be account bound on acquire.
It’s very frustrating to get good drop that is not suited for my active character, but that is perfect for another char of mine. I should be able to specialize my chars with one set of stuff and not have three or four sets of items per character, which is hard to manage, and uses a lot of my bank space (which I have already expanded several times, with actual money.)
Examples? Superior runes and sigils that drop in dungeons; some Zomorros rewards; …
Hello,
I’d like to un-report players I reported.
I saw a group of 5 players doing the same actions at the same time, so I thought it was a group of bots. I looked at them for 20 seconds before starting reporting, to make sure they were bots. Then I reported each member of that group.
A few seconds later, I saw one of the bots doing actions non synchronized with other players, to ultimately leave the group and play on its own.
So I think I might have reported for botting a player who briefly followed a group of bots. I don’t want to report him anymore because I don’t think that character is a bot anymore and because I don’t want to get my account terminated for abuse of reporting.
What to do?
Thanks, I notified that thread of this one.
I request an automatic selection of the authentication field here and I was told to put it here, so lazily, here’s a link to my request: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Automatic-selection-of-authenticator-field
When starting a new game, after logging in, the authentication process starts and requires me to put input I get from my phone.
The field where we put that value should be automatically selected at that moment, as well when the window with that field on it gains focus in case of automatic login.
Yes, it’s small: it spares us a click, but I often check my phone at that moment to get the code then type it while still looking at my phone. The reason of the auto-focus on the launcher window focus is that when you deploy new updates, I often get back to other tasks like browsing and wait for my authentication request to pop-up.
Thanks.
I ran today with a group in Ascalonian Catacombs, path 2, and when we went to the traps room, the event start correctly, but after the quest’s breeder spawned, he simply didn’t move. He kept spawning gravelings as he should, though. When we started attacking him directly, we tried to bait him on the traps all together. In the end, he started to move but he never went closer to the traps than his spawn position. We could kill him, revive Detha and finish the quest that way, moving to the next quest.
Later that same instance, the usual Detha bug occurred (the one where she needs to speak to the Ascalonian Captain in the final room, but simply doesn’t find the quest point position).
If it’s of any indication,
- the troll didn’t spawn;
- we killed Kohler;
- our group was fun
Guys, I’m glad you take an interest in helping me, but I’m looking for general advice about how to make a better Guardian, not a complete debate whether Condition Damage is the way to go in 2 dungeons and awful in the rest of them. I’m really looking for a better “jack-of-all-trades” Guardian in dungeons / PvE. Plus, you concentrate on that particular topic where I have plenty of other questions, mostly answered by ens, but not all, so if you could just focus on that, that’d be really great :-)

Indeed, I know dungeons are full of NPCs with huge amount of life. I have an elementalist that performs greatly in dungeons.
Regarding my stuff, do you basically mean I should go for the four main attributes (power, precision, toughness, vitality) rather than secondary ones? I do think I generate a lot of aggro, is it because I have high defense (up-to-level armor stuff) or relatively low toughness / vitality?
I’m already moving quite a lot (for instance, Kohler gets me once or twice maximum with his twirly attack, it’s not perfect, but better than most players I play with), but I’m being four-shoted because my healing skills (F2 + 6) are always in cooldown. Strangely, I’m performing much better against bosses than common mobs.
Finally are my traits good already or should I change them?
Hi guys,
I’m at level 46 and I love playing in dungeons and PvE with my greatsword (but mostly dungeons). I’ve been playing with that weapon since level 38 and I can’t find a proper balance between survival and damage... and I don’t know where it comes from as I absolutely no idea how skills and traits work. I used to play with sword+shield/mace+focus before and I was doing really good, but I prefer the style of the greatsword and want to play with it.
My current build is 0/0/15(VI)/20(III,IX)/0 and I use the skills Purging Flames, Judge’s Intervention and Bow of Truth, plus tome of wrath or courage depending on the situation. My armor components and my weapon are all level 45 "ravaging" items (+precision/+condition damage). Yet I still need to update my jewelry, which is currently a level 30 "strong" stuff (+power/+precision).
With that, I thought that it was quite balanced, having +toughness/+life from traits and +precision/+condition damage from armor.
But I keep doing very little damage and mostly I keep dying. So I just don’t know how to equilibrate my traits / stuff to be more efficient with a greatsword.
Can anyone give me guidelines about what I’m doing wrong and how I should improve that? Plus, if my traits are not really good, how can I request a reset like I had one at level 40?
Many thanks!
