A guild is server-bound. So if I change my server, I have to think about guesting to get my stuff back? Nah, just add more bank slots, it’s easier for everyone.

About botters, they can have as many accounts as they want and transfer it easily and they can create guilds too. The actual problem isn’t there.

So no, a limited bank space is only annoying us, honest players.

ArenaNet? Don’t you want my cash? Because I spend it on 3 things:
- Bank slots
- Character slots
- Inventory slots

Two of those have known max values and when I’ll get my 8th character slot, I won’t get any extra of those.

When I lag and I kill an opponent, do I care that he had problems trying to killing me? No I don’t. Do you? No you don’t. So don’t say he should.

I’m not a messenger, I’m not going to tell him you have issues killing him. Karouim is a very nice guy and he doesn’t bite at all. So be a big boy and go talk to him if you feel griefed. All it takes is a little courage to start speaking to an opponent.

Doing that would be
- the right thing to do
- a proof that you can interact with other players
- a proof that you’re a good guy
- a proof that you care about everybody’s interests
because all I see right now is that you’re good at complaining. I don’t see anything else, even though I’d like to see you’re good at something else because no matter what I believe in humanity and you’re a part of it.

You’re not really altruistic.

We played a fractal yesterday with him. The experience was awful because of his lag but never we thought about kicking him. What we did was 4-man some parts, but we finished the fractal at five with everybody happy.

1.1s of latency. His connection may be for something, but if it’s that bad, Anet would’ve cut the connection rather than keep it alive. So go fill a suggestion, but don’t “hope he gets banned”.

You could try swapping out some Rabid trinkets for Rampagers.

Precision primary, power and condi dmg secondary.

I’m fully in favor of mixed stats. This character is the only one of my characters having only one set of stats.

I thank you for the input regarding my problem, but I’d prefer a solution for the problem.

And again. I played fractals and I was the only target of the Volcano boss. My team was full life when I died after 3 minutes in the boss fight; they didn’t last 15 seconds after that. (They were not bad players, they just were used to not get touched, so when they got hit nearly all at once, they didn’t know what to do.)

Please, really do something about the link between toughness and aggro. I played with 4 zerkers. Always full life, as soon as I died, the party was doomed. Once, twice. No third time, they had learned that to stay alive, they had to keep me alive.

It’s not fun playing with zerkers because of that. (Yeah, for once, I’m complaining that I get downed when I play with zerkers, not that zerkers are down.)

But what if ArenaNet wants to remove the holy trinity? The mob sees one tanky guy and he gets 50% of the aggro?

I didn’t make that build to tank. I took it to not lie on the ground. Indeed in a level 80 party, I don’t lie on the ground like it was with the mixed party in AC story. That’s already something. But I still get 40-50% of the aggro.

I agree I’m tanky, but it’s because Rabid is the only option available to me if I want condition damage and precision and still survive. I could go for a few Rampager items, but that is not second-necro friendly because of the bleeding cap, also, each tick is less strong.

No, the problem is not with my stuff, because I deal huge damage and I am tanky, that’s what ArenaNet wants. The problem is that tanky people are primary targets, and as a good damage dealer, I’m even more of a target. Let the non tanky ones die so they learn to be tankier. Therefore, ArenaNet should reduce the importance of “tankiness” from the equation. Not remove completely: just reduce to an acceptable level.

If you work it out 1000g / 1643 hrs = 61s per hour…

61s per hour isn’t that good really, a lot of people can earn 2-3g per hour and some wiz kids, 5-10g per hour…

But still 1000g deserves a well done…

Your computation doesn’t take in account all he already spent in the past. Here, the “feat” is not to have earned 1000g from the beginning of the game, but rather to have gathered 1000g at a precise moment on the account. For instance, my bank account at the moment is much lower than 1000g, though I’m quite sure that I earned much more gold than that playing all the facets of the game, given that my average is between 1.5g and 2g per hour and I have 1500 hours of game.

Last man standing = Best player in the party?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fror.2163

Fror.2163

In my experience, the last man standing is the coward one, the one that left before the rest wipe and even before it was clear that there would be a wipe.

So technically (and still in my experience), it’s the worst player because he doesn’t know his strength and how much he adds to the group.

If he continues fighting with the group, then I have nothing to add, he’s good, but in all other case (and in my experience, yes again), he is not.

Well, if there were some condition damage, precision, vitality gear, I would definitely take those for some of my equipment pieces.

But right now it’s not toughness that I lose: it’s precision, if I take this page as reference. I have nothing against more vita: I just don’t have the right option, like a lot of combinations for everybody, I guess.

@Crossplay: Yesterday, I played the Swamp fractal in my rabid gear. My 4 co-runners were 2 warriors and 2 guardians, all full melee, even though one was using staff, don’t ask why. Given the life loss the two warriors suffered after each hit, I strongly believe they were in full berserker. Yet I saw the Mossman rushing to me after each invisibility period of time, simply ignoring the 4 heavy armored guys. And when I type “after each invisibility period of time”, it’s not a figure of style. Ok, to be complete, once I evaded once or twice his attacks, the Mossman was more focused on the melee group. But as soon as he became invisible, I became the main target, consistently.

Let’s do some math: I had constantly 10-15 stack of bleed that deal 150-170 dmg each tick and 185 when I get 25 stacks of might. Let’s take an average: 12 stacks of 160 dmg, that’s 1920 dmg per second. Try to beat that with a guardian. A warrior though can beat that easily. But, one of the two didn’t play his build really well and was constantly downed or even dead after 2 or 3 hits or after agony. So that leaves me with 1 warrior as top damage dealers over time.

Now let’s take in account the toughness. I believe one of the guardian (the one with the staff) was wearing some cleric stuff as his life was always jumping from low to full. Full cleric gives you 1800 tougness. If you mix n match, you get around 1400 toughness. Given that a heavy armor has basis 2127 armor and a light has 1836 and that I have 400 more toughness than the guard, well, I was both the top toughness and the top defense in the group.

So in conclusion, Crossplay, I was in the top spots for 3 main points of the aggro (who deals dmg, top dmg dealers, and toughness), so yeah it was logical that I got that much aggro.

What I did to suffer less from this case was to spam 1 instead of playing my whole range of skills. I don’t want to spam 1 and I don’t want to lie down. I want to play completely my build with being aware of the mobs, with being a target to them, but not constantly, that’s why parties are formed of 5 people. But if having damage mitigation as toughness is not the way of doing it, then what is?

Fror.2163

I play a pure rabid necro build (rabid is condition dmg as main and tougness and precision as secondary stats). I’m full exotic and got 4 ascended items (all except the accessories). I’ve spent some traits in the toughness line. All, in all, I have 1882 toughness.

The other day, I played my necro in AC story. The group was the following: 1 level 80 guardian (full berserker), 1 level 80 warrior (full berserker), 1 level 60 mesmer (unknown equipment) and 1 level 30 ranger (unknown equipment) and me, a level 80 necro.

During the whole dungeon, I was the first and only target of the game. Even if I was the farest player from the boss. We went like that: I was running in circles, the bosses were following me, the other guys were killing the boss by standing still, except for the warr who ran after the boss. For ALL bosses. But… the group wasn’t bad.

In the end, I spent half of the time lying on the ground. I reran the story with another similar group. It started the same, but then I removed my trinkets, all of them, and all of a sudden it was bearable, I could play normally, getting the aggro only once in a while.

The same happens in fractals: I get too much aggro, even though my party plays mix of knight’s and berserker’s equipment, and I lie too much on the ground. However less than when I played that AC story.

It strange, because if I play with my other light/medium-armored characters, I have much less issues standing still. When I play in WvW with my necro, it’s the same: I stand still. So the problem is really linked to the aggro.

A small thing to know: lying on the ground is not fun. Lying on the ground when you gear to not lying on the ground is even less fun!

So please, to make it playable for all players, including those who think about putting some defense on them, by opposition to those who focus solely on damage, reduce the importance of the toughness in aggro, or take in account the fact that light-armored professions may have high toughness but still remain light-armored.

Even the whole concept of lifesteal is nonsense is coming from games like Diablo II where everything and its opposite happens. That concept should entirely be removed at once, except for the necro for who it actually makes sense as he nourishes itself from others’ life.

My only concern is that it’s more than a rare or even an exotic item. So you should have guaranteed stuff, like one guaranteed orichalcum ore (the only T6 mat that makes sense) and one guaranteed glob of ectoplasm. Then, on top of that, a chance for more orichalculm ores, globs of ectoplasm and, of course, the vial/glob of essence.

On the battle side, I thought Dzagonur would be stronger given the week-end domination. But it looks like we’re fighting relatively fair actually in the week days.

Why do Europeans pay more for gems?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fror.2163

Fror.2163

Currently, the following is true:

  • N-A players pay 1.25 USD for 100 gems
  • EU players pay 1.25 EUR for 100 gems
  • Brit players pay 1.0625 GBP for 100 gems.

When I use the current conversion in USD, I get the following:

  • N-A players pay 1.25 USD for 100 gems
  • EU players pay 1.635 USD for 100 gems
  • Brit players pay 1.62955625 GBP for 100 gems

The number for EU and Brits are roughly the same, so from now on, EU means EURO countries + Brits.

So the thing is that for the same amount of gems, an European player pays 1.3 times more than an American one.

So while I agree there might be some conversion tax, I can’t understand why European players pay 1 third more money than an American.

Fluctuations don’t explain everything as the EUR / USD ratio is usually between 1.25 and 1.35 and hasn’t been out of those boundaries for years.

So help me to understand. Because if I don’t understand, I start thinking that as an European, I’m the milking cow of Anet and that’s something that would push me away from buying any more gems, which I do once in a while.

So, the other day, I wanted to play in Crucible of Eternity, so I open gw2lfg.com and get a party in under five minutes. Nice, I have a full party. Now let’s start the dungeon.

Oh wait, the dungeon is contested on my map. Whatever, I ask if anyone has the dungeon available on his server, in total, we’re five people from four servers. No. So we’re stuck. We can’t go and play in the dungeon.

Oh wait, we have the guesting mechanism. So everyone go guest and check if we can go in a server. Myself, I know that two servers are really active in unlocking temples and dungeons, and a guy from one of those server is in my party, so I take an educated guess and I go guest on the other server. Bang, it’s open. We get in and play.

At no point in time, one of us said “let’s guest together on the same server so we can unlock the dungeon”.

Lessons learned:
- gw2lfg is good but having people from different servers is a problem for unlocking dungeons.
- Guesting is useful to solve that
- Guesting is misused, as people are going to check on other servers if a dungeon is unlocked; they are unlikely guesting to unlock it.
- Unlocking on some servers will likely happen much less than previously.

Before the guesting mechanism, CoE on my server was either open or being opened 2/3 of the time I wanted to get there. Now, it never is.

Guesting is great, just provide us with more tools to cope with it.

My bank is full. Yes it happens, don’t ask me why. My 7 characters are probably a reason.

But the real reason, it’s the dungeon/fractal tokens and mats that take most of the place. I have a lot of those and no, I don’t want/need to spend them now, so they take ".

But let’s count like this:
0.5 row per char => 3.5 rows full (each char has 1 or 2 full invisible bags for when he goes on adventure, so what’s here is only alt build stuff).
1 row for all my gem-linked stuff (like BL kits/harvester stuff, transmutation crystals, boosts, etc.)
1.5 row for my dungeon and fractal tokens, plus my badges.
1 row for my rare/exotic weapons to put in the Mystic Forge when I get 4 of them, also, my unused ascended rings.
1 row for upgrades (sigils, runes), skins, and accessories and a few craft mats

Well, the total is 8 rows, and that’s the max allowed.

I have a few locations left, but if I fill them, it’ll completely disorganize my bank. Also, I don’t want to create new chars as if I have new ones, I’ll play with them. It’s just dumb to have chars that serve as bank. Finally, having your own guild is like cheating and I can’t put much in there as most of what I described earlier is account-bound.

So please, make the items stack more so I can free more than 1 row, or add more rows to the bank. What I’d suggest is even to go further and do the two together.

Being in IT myself, it’s a number I can identify and I definitely thought of it when it happened.

It happened after a 15-20s fall when I was pushed off the path of the colossus fractal into the void all the way down to the actual ground of the level. I don’t know why I wasn’t teleported back to the last checkpoint in downed state as usual. The texture of that ground was funny, I thought, as it was a pattern of white flowers.

Happily, I didn’t have the hammer with me and the party went to the next checkpoint before all suiciding. Yes, this happened in the first week of the fractals.

In the end, it was part of a bug. So… does it count?

I wouldn’t mind paying 3-4k fractal relics for those skin, personally.

No, I don’t think anything about the skills have anything to do in the WvW rankings, since I know for a fact that only the numbers matter.

Any comment on the actual topic?

i know from sources that this week you are focusing us (both of you) so stop pretending crap.

So… we have the points we have because we have an agreement with ROS? If we really had an agreement with ROS, wouldn’t we really be above you in terms of points?

Too bad, now I don’t know who has the most flawed logic: you or Ilesyt. Anyways, both of you make me laugh (not a cynic laugh, no: a wholeheartedly laugh) :-)

GOA Raidleader told me, that they are specifically focusing AS, since WSR players are " boring as hell to play with" and other sympathic things about you guys…

So there is not technically an agreement to focus us, but since we have already RoS on our back, WSR is so happy to not be focused by you guys, every kittening night, you come on our borderlands, when we managed to kick WSR from EB and push them back in their HM, but what you smart guys think to do " kitten let’s go focus AS, since we are morrons"

True story… i’m not even angry at you guys, but spouting nonsense on the forum, is particularly funny to see.

And yes we are certainly waving flags, and we also make a distribution of “baguettes et croissants”, and after that we take our “Citroen” to go to the “moulin rouge”, to finish with “un baiser Français au pied de la tour Eiffel” … morrons and xenophobic on the top of it -_-

This deserves an answer in French. But since the forum is an English-based one, I’ll add an exact translation below.

Translation:

Little fellow man, I don’t believe I’m when I say I have a better French communication than you do. Your lack of respect is insulting. I’m in an open guild without any prejudice about the fact that we play against a French-dedicated server. We have several Frenchmen in the guild and more French speakers. How do you think they’d react if we had those prejudice you think we have ? It’s not because a server doesn’t have “[FR]” after it’s name that no Frenchmen or no French speaker plays on it. So keep your prejudices for yourself and play rather than complaining and imagine xenophoby everywhere.

Learn courtesy and fair play. Shouting “moron” like you do most certainly denotes a certain lack of education.

Now this is said, RoS may decide on their own not to punish us hard. It’s their right. On our side we have no agreement with RoS to play more against you. So keep that out of your head.

We have an active presence at night. So what? Your numbers are huge in European prime-time. Do we complain? No. We put the fact down, we don’t complain about it.

We don’t even call you “lootbags” though we have thought about it because you’re so many and it’s easy for us to take lootbags from you, especially when you come in large groups relentlessly for 2 hours from your waypoint to try to take Bluevale. Why don’t we call you like that? It’s called respect, man.

But show me any more disrespect, I’ll cut the rope and flood you walls of texts about it that you will feel sorry for the next ten years.
