Guild Wars 2

This is a challenge to run a dungeon without any of the moves.

The rules are simple:

• The group must complete any path of any dungeon (stories are accepted) according to the restricted rules of dungeon speed run.
• No member of your group may use any of the following moves:
  • Move Forward
  • Move Backward
  • Strafe Left
  • Strafe Right
  • Swim Up
  • Swim Down
  • Autorun
• Any skill is allowed as long as you don’t use any of the restricted moves together with it.
• If you wipe, your group completely wipes, you may run until the previous room where your group died. Any step after the room will disqualify the video.
• The fastest run wins the reward.
• You must list every single participant of the run. This is done either in the video by highlighting them or on the forum by writing down the list of members.
• You must record your whole run in a video and post it in this thread before 29/06/2014 12:00:00 UTC.

Reward:
The fastest group to accomplish its run wins the reward which is 50g.

Notes:

• As move forward is prohibited, you may not dodge forward too, since dodge forward is “move forward + dodge”. Any other direction is fine.
• I think I covered all the move actions. I reserve the right to change the list of restricted moves until 15/06/2014 12:00:00 GMT and disqualify any video containing those moves if they were posted before that instant.
• Anyone can increase the winning reward to make this challenge more appealing. Just say so below.

I love how people refer to an Unid dye as costing 40s when it reached that value for 20 days max. Getting to that value abruptly and leaving that value as abruptly as went there.

Can’t ArenaNet focus in one place (their news website) then put references to that article on the other locations? I think this is misinformation by obscuration. There are 4 buttons below to follow them. It doesn’t mean you have to get 1 to have access to all information, no: it means that I have to have access to all 4.

Yup, I read the part about “thoroughly tested”, but I know ArenaNet when it comes to testing. The only real test happens every two weeks on a Tuesday, if you know what I mean.

Why do you throw random data in your message? A month ago or so I did a AC p3 where I was the lowest AP with my 11k something. One was above 20k, another above 18k, the two others around 13k.

Well, personally, I was bringing more often guard/warrior for CoE. I’ll now switch back to guardian/mesmer just for that pull of the golem in the right corner for it to be dps’d as it should be.

Yep, yep and nope: fiery rush is not an exploit, so your last question is invalid. But you can use fiery rush on it without a target and against a wall, yes.

CoF p1 no zerker has indeed lost a lot. CoF p1 zerker is the same as before. Occasionally with one or two deaths in the acolytes room.

It’s actually quite general: if you’re in zerker (gearchecked), it’s going better and better, but if you join random groups, it stays the same. Yet a tendency in zerker groups I see is to accept guards that are non-zerker because they need more a guard than a fifth zerker. So technically, they’re ready to carry someone, but it has to be a guard (and mostly, that guard doesn’t give anything to the group, not even walls or condi cleanses).

I don’t want to be in every decision.

But 10+ changes in dungeon bosses released at once and not a single word about it is not acceptable. Heck, the golem in CoE was changed from immobile to moving. Did they fix an exploit by doing that? If you really think it was an exploit, then I don’t know what to think.

Also, they said they’d give as much information as possible. Even a simple sentence like “* reviewed the bosses from various dungeons and performed adequate changes to them” would have been enough. They also said they’d never give information about exploits.

Secrecy is never the solution: communication has always been.

Are you really surprised? Or are you comparing the now well-known dps builds of warrior with a subpar condi build of necro?

It’s also the best update the guardian has ever received since beta.

Nope, it’s even easier as you can fgs him against a wall. And wall of reflections is more consistently well placed for pug groups.

We and other dungeon guilds have either been using one warrior or zero warriors for world records. Guess why? The DPS isn’t good – you just want them for banners and empower allies. Thieves, non-fgs eles and triple phantasm mesmers surpass the DPS of warriors. Necromancers and guardians are on-par or maybe even slightly higher.

But but… I spent 200g levelling my warrior with crafting! I want him to have the best dps in the game!

Don’t know what you mean, the spider queen is still pretty easy. You can still safely kill her with 3 people running dps meta assuming you bait the 1st venom spray but I am sure even that is not necessary. It’s the p2 part with Detha and the traps that concerns me when it comes to pugs in AC.

Pugs hardly do p2 in the first place.

With the recent changes to crit chance and downlevelling, more and more pugs could do p2 as their dps was doubled.

People complained about the spider stack spot, not about Kholer’s or p1’s an p3’s end bosses.

ArenaNet,

On June 3rd, you released a patch. This patch included several dungeon changes, all of which do not fix exploits.

So why are those changes absent from the patch notes? How come you decided to write down only one change in the patch notes, but released over 10 actual changes? Yet the patch notes contains 4 pages (on my screen) of nearly irrelevant skill-facts changes.

It is not the first time that non-exploit-related changes are missing from the dungeon section of the patch notes. For us, the dungeon community, the patch notes are more and more becoming a big joke. I don’t like to say this, but it’s really how we feel.

Changes in the dungeons are actually welcome. I only wanna know about them, so if you make changes (that do not involve exploits), please, write them down in your patch notes. Always.

Your team will scream at you and ping the WP repeatedly, but when you got the chest and the WP is appearing, don’t WP. Wait for the conversation between Tzark & Grast to start, then only WP.

I’m not saying it’s not an option. I’m saying that it should be “shining” (Jerus’ word) when it vastly outperforms other ways of doing the same task. It’s not the case.

I’ll stick to my sword because for this specific task, it’s on par with a staff. I may lose 1-2 seconds for running a bit farther, but I keep the flexibility of my build. And in pugs, everybody knows you need your flexibility more than anywhere else.

It doesn’t shine: it barely glows. A sword can do that too, plus you have access to an extra condi cleanse with focus that you don’t have with staff. And you’re ready in your max dps build.

I did that. Or you’re in a pug and you let the ele do it (as for some reasons which remains obscure to me they always volunteer and start clearing as soon as they come in the room).

Hey, back off of staff guards in AC, well at least up until the spider, staff works incredibly well to get a quick spawn of the Queen and pull it in. If you learn the path right you can pop him every time with just a quick circle and staff spam. After that feel free though =b

Then you are in combat and stuck with staff as alt weapon. No thank you. My sword cleave is good enough for that task.

Going in SE P3 with my guardian meta build. The dps is rather bad so we don’t kill the first champion quick enough and I used all my condition cleanses. We’re at 17 stacks of bleed and our ele’s life as well as mine are dropping like hell, I could use a condi cleanse in 5 sec at earliest but we’d be dead and one or two warriors too (the last one was prolly PVT given how slow he lost his life). So I drop my GS 4 and then I WW in it to cleanse us all.

When the boss is dead, I get treated as noob because I layed down my light field before the ele dropped his fire field and heblasted it giving us retal instead of might.

I disagree. In pugs, fights go much quicker with my phalanx than with my dps warrior.

I pug arah where people are either out of range of PS and/or dying all of the place.

Plus I hate playing support builds and don’t think unproven players deserve me going the EA/PS banner female-dog role since I don’t know if they can pull their weight or not.

I don’t do Arah as much as I’d like to so I cannot speak for that dungeon. But for all of the others including fractals, I don’t see any reason to take anything else than Phalanx. When you ask for “zerker” or “meta”, most pugs stack so Phalanx is a good option. Maybe I cannot notice the difference between pure dps and phalanx when I solo, but I can definitely tell the difference between the two when I pug, I’d go Phalanx any time.

I easily get my 100% crit chance on Phalanx (sometimes it even goes to 109-110% when I still have my food and get in a party with correct rangers) but I never ever could maintain 25 stacks by myself on Phalanx warrior (with 0/6/0/6/2). On rather idle mobs, I can go up to 25, but maintained? Nope: I’m usually between 18 and 20. I base my assertions on the idle mob that is the golem boss in CoE in a pug party with no might-stacking at all.

Ok, now I wrote this realise I don’t have Strength sigils and/or battle.

issue with stacking is that players have no physical mass in the game or there is no poliexcusion principle so infinite stacking on one person for infinite field stacks in unrealistic and why zerg mechanics are laughed at. Easy fix give all bosses fractal shaman aoe which blasts that send you flying or foot stomps which one hit kill. Cause really if a dragon steps on you, you are dead regardless of formations. I would like to add that formations in wvw would be awsome but only way to relistically do it is give squad formation and movement controls to a commander give squad + and – formation buffs which can go with some commander wvw level. This will allow a focus on 100% skills used. However, you know there will be trolls running zergs off cliffs then and such probaly no way to implement formations. and staking is ridiculous to say it is equivalent. I would like to add a human pyramid here but got no photo.

Every physicist says that at the atom level we’re 99% of emptyness. So it actually make sense that we can stack on the same place. Doesn’kitten Actually, a zerg of 100 people is about the max that people can stack. So I think that GW2 is spot on. Isn’kitten

I asked the support and they told me they are working on it. They are aware of this issue and will come back to me within 3 days.

Ok, let’s reformulate.

On EU, a lot of players received properly their rewards right after the reset. Some other players on EU did not, despite having all their achievements done and also, they got their “nth place” achievement in the WvW achievement panel.

CoE destroyer should be ranged by 2 rangers with 1500 range on each side of the pit while the 3 others should activate the lasers. Amirite?

I will not change the topic. With 2 exceptions (the 2 TA paths), the staff is a bad weapon for a guardian in a dungeon. Period.

I bring my tanky guard into CoE because I constantly run the risk of the full zerk players dying and wiping….

An optimal zerker party has no time to even get downed on Alpha. There’s one, maybe two dodges max to perform.

Also, if the fight is long and I get downed, I really prefer that you stay up and continue finishing the fight rather than rev me. This way the party still does 75-80% of the dmg rather than 50-60%.

I’m pretty sure those same players would still get downed in berserker gear. You’re making the same mistake a lot of modern day gamers make. Gear is not the same as skill.

I’m getting downed as well.

I duo’ed a AC story with Dub last week. I felt like a noob. I don’t know any shortcuts and was downed because I wanted to follow him at his speed. I’m sure that if I run that duo again, I’ll be downed again, but it’ll be faster. I’m learning.

Players who stop learning are the bad ones. People who keep trying to actually become better are the good players.
