Mai Trin is the only reason I don’t run fractals as much as I’d want. So many dead people… including me, sometimes.

It’s interesting to do the stories in order and not long one after each other because there’s an actual story to them, but you are in no way forced. The explorable versions? Whether level up through AC or if you’re level 80, do all paths as you wish to find out the ones you like the most.

Can’t you just name the rune instead of of showing a webpage with lots of videos about lots of builds?

Yeah, I got some friends too with 4k hours without any precursor drop. I’m personally at 3k and sitting on 3 precursor drops (outside the forge; include the forge and that makes 6). (pseudo)-RNG is (pseudo)-random.

Rata Sum is the place I go and where I park my alts. All services are close to each other. I don’t mind going in Divinity’s Reach as well as the crafting stations are close to the WP and so are the services. The only places I actually never go for that are The Grove and Hoelbrak.

Also, the load time of the map is much better than in LA.

Yeah, I rush through stories, but killing everything on my way, so no skip at all (it’s still fast to kill anything in story). The others are usually one step behind but they catch up fast and fight correctly. I don’t ask them to skip videos, I don’t rush where they could not pass alone. I think of this as being a facilitator and I get a lot of thanks and comments about how hard it was before and how easy this run felt.

Also, how many gems did it cost when available?

Zerker is the way to go. If you know when to dodge and when to pop a certain utility, you’re bringing far more to the group than while being tanky.

I suggest you take a look at gw2dungeons.net. It’s really exhaustive and provide proper encounter descriptions as well as both general and class-specific strategies.

I mostly pug. Believe me with pugs you want a hammer for the protection if not smashing their heads.

When the team is good after the first dungeon I switch to sword+focus/GS for the rest of the runs (as I mostly do “all paths”).

Even when Hrouda was there, he was the only one posting always referring to “I’ll see what the team says” and rarely giving feedback. Also he mostly stopped posting in or around March 2013, much before he was fired (August 2013).

Still, I treasure the thought of any dev actually caring for this subforum even as little as Hrouda did back in his time.

Wow, what a question! It’s quite simple in appearance but hard to fully answer.

You have to have several weapon sets.

What we usually have is weapons for the night dungeons (sigil of the night), weapons for the critter-specific dungeons that are not night (like sigil of undead slaying for Arah or sigil of outlaw slaying for CM & Cliffside), weapons for open world (force, accuracy). Finally we have weapons specifically for stacking. Now which stack to use depends on your build.

Yeah… I often put down fire fields as guardian as well and I hate it when the second PUG guardian in the group think it’s a good idea to use GS4 or Staff3 over them… Could slap them.

Sorry, not gonna interrupt Symbol of Protection because you placed a fire field after you saw my symbol was starting (which in my case is very visible given my big size norn and Juggernaut). I will interrupt my chain with a Mighty Blow if you place it before I start Symbol of Protection, but once I started my symbol, not gonna stop it.

As I mentioned in my last post, things go wrong, or maybe someone thought of a better way of doing it. Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t seem to realise this.

Not to mention they actually told us before the year was up that the precursor crafting would be pushed back.

And they did notify us in time, like 4-6 weeks before the end of the year, not 2 days.

On that, I really appreciate how they improved regarding communication. Now if they could improve on giving feedback about the fractured update, I’d be very grateful as well!

Unfortunately, ANet ‘promised’ that it would be in before the end of 2013. I mean, it wasn’t like the blog was a statement of intention, and it’s not like they said that things might be pushed back.

I think they could do a feedback thread after every update. Would be more useful that 10 different threads about the exact same thing.

If you wish to run low-level characters and/or non-meta builds, no one is forcing you to join zerker-only speed run groups or path selling groups. Make your own group detailing that all levels/classes/builds are welcome. The end.

I levelled my warrior from 30 until 80 exclusively by dungeons. The most I ever waited to get a full group was 5 minutes.

According to the wiki, these were the features that Arenanet intended to add in the second half of 2013:

Professions and balance
-There will be new unlockable skills and traits.
Precursors, and legendaries
-New legendary weapons.
-New types of legendary equipment (possibly a trinket).
-New precursor acquisition methods (I am aware that Arenanet later announced that this would be postponed)
sPvP
-New map types.
-It will be possible to gain legendary weapon skins in sPvP.
-Additional rewards and growth will be added to the major competitive sPvP tournaments.

Do you guys think that Arenanet adequately implemented these features?

The things that you post here are the ones which is pending you didnt post the ones that the already done. Ex. Ascended weapons/armor, new dungeon aka TA new path, pvp changes and etc.. they’ve already stated that precusor crafting (which is a stupid idea)will not make it in 2013 so it was cleared.

What about assassin/zerk mix? Having everything zerk except for head, shoulder and boots which are assassins?

This actually happens in more than 50% of the requests.

You shouldn’t be able to party merge if:
- the two parties have each an instance open in the same dungeon (two friends soloing different dungeons should be possible).
- have more than 5 people together.
Seems like these two basic requirements went over the heads of the LFG. But no worries, the lfg tool is in beta so this kind of issues is still acceptable. (No, it’s not!)

Thanks for the answer. My new game? Join those parties then report for exploit. Well… wait… do they actually kill the bosses or skip? If they kill, do they do that in a safe spot or facing the boss?

More and more I see thieves selling “teach solo ac p1 30g”. I was wondering that since they “teach”, it must be some kind of exploit because lots of dungeons get soloed by people and AC p1 is the only one that has so many similar LFG. It’s the only one where people offer to “teach” and those who sell are exclusively thieves and I find it a bit strange.

So is this some kind of exploit or a totally legit service? I don’t wanna hand 30g over (or more, I’ve seen up to 75g) just to check that.

Please, post numbers to give weight to your “I think”s. How much damage do you lose in several party setups? Because right now, you’ve convinced no one.

He did it with Cleric’s, but I suppose it’s even easier with Magi’s as your base life pool will be bigger. It might actually allow some room for error, which he completely lacked in his video. (Unless Light of orb deals damage based on the actual life, of course.)

That is if the guardians does use 4 on cooldown. And that’s already some high hope!

By playing the game I’m self-sufficient. Admittedly I did stash silk scraps since September (minus a six weeks break) rather than sell it. I’m now over with my ascended armor and I used all my silk. I can still craft one Damask Bolt every two-three days rather than every day by simply playing the game so I don’t mind as I don’t need it.

The goal of downscaling is not to be as a wet noodle as a lowbie or as powerful as a god. The goal of downscaling is to maintain fun in lower area levels. It still take me from 1.5 to 2 hours to complete an area, compared to 2 to 3 when I was a lowbie. I sure wouldn’t want it to take as long.

Downscaling? They do that pretty well.

Your 3 pieces of Knight Ascended are not really necessary, they’re there for your confidence. If you’re able to run dungeons with those without getting downed, switch to Zerker as you craft the missing Zerker pieces.

Regarding your build, it’s a hammer build indeed. If you pug a lot, just don’t care about what people say: keep it! I run the hammer build in fractals and in pug dungeons. A lot. People just don’t care as long as they don’t feel the weapon is slowing down.

If you run with regular guys and everybody knows how each other play, switch to Sw/F+GS build.

Also, Flissy is mixing Zerker build and speedrun. You never ever spoke about speedrun so focus on your build. When you want to do speedruns, just switch to Sw/F+GS. If you want to relax, keep the hammer build so far.

Finally, when you’ll be more confident in yourself, get dps runes instead of soldiers.

Finally, often people ask if I’m a dps guardian. I ping one piece of ascended armor (which is Zerker, since all are Zerker) not the complete armor. And they just go on with it. Just do the same. They’ll see your soldiers runes, but hey, they asked for zerker gear, not zerker with scholar runes! If they mind it, just leave the group you’ll have no fun, and at the first failure they’ll blame you and kick you.

Fractals? I thought it disappeared with the November 26th patch. Weird.

Sean, in EU, you see the prices tax included. In the US, you see the prices tax excluded. So the taxes have to be added on top of what you see.

Apparently (I never tested it myself), with taxes, you pay roughly the same conversion-wise. At least, that’s what I was told when I asked like 5-6 months ago.

There’s no need for a discount based on the amount of money you pay.

It incites people who not necessarily have the means to pay the upper side of their limit.

I prefer what they did with the green quaggan backpack and the Mr Sparkles mini. You don’t get extra gems: you get extra show-off.

That is one in the same friend. I am telling him that it is not his place to tell me how I should play, I’m also advising that his well intentioned ‘suggestion’ may do more harm then good.

I’ve seen more then a few players get very ugly toward inexpirenced in dungeons, especially AC. Making a blanket statement that players should not reject these lower levels, is to me, ill advised.
