Are the quaggan tonics account bound?

I got an exotic and a rare quaggan tonic. I’m afraid to use them as I plan to sell them later for a profit. Because I don’t want to use them if they become account-bound at their first use.

So, are they or do they become account-bound?

It’s again skins and zergs.

On the story level, the patch is maybe interesting for some (LA getting destroyed might appeal to some, not me), but on the gameplay side, we have nothing new. No challenge.

So I’m wondering what’s special about this update.

All announced times are Pacific.

Anet launches the patch during the typical American workday on the day they announced it, so it will launch between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. pacific.

Indeed. This has always been the case. Why is the OP so surprised?

Because the recent updates, for the last 6 months at least, have been between 4 and 7 PM GMT.

With that timeframe we always had the chances to play before going to bed. With today’s time, we don’t.

Stacking & Ignoring Enemies in Dungeons?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Fror, it should attack everyone, as in no stacking/exploiting combat, everyone is affected by it. Defending an exploit is useless, same as telling lies to yourself.

It’s like saying that I must use all tools at my disposal. This is plain wrong. If I need to plant a nail and I have both a hammer and a screwdriver at my disposal, then I’ll hit twice with the hammer then screw the nail twice, then back again to the hammer. Does screwing a nail make sense? Because I don’t think so.

I’m not defending an exploit, I was only explaining you why this mechanic exists and is the tool for the Spider Queen. So please leave my shoes so I can get back in them: I know what I’m telling to myself and… you don’t

Spider Queen doesn’t work as intended if you stack in the corner. Why do I say that? Whenever someone moves away from the stack , it triggers the right mechanics and the stacking group gets wiped.

If we’re all in melee range while not in the corner, the AOE doesn’t appear either. The AOE is a mechanic present to attack ranged people, because why on earth would the melee guys only be attacked by a boss?

Fror.2163

In a role-playing game, you shouldn’t have to roll those numbers. Dice were added because table-rpg needed some random factor and computation had to be made to check wether you succeed or fail.

The problem with CRPGs is that they still haven’t removed that stupid concept of levels and they still don’t have hidden the numbers. Skyrim made some progress in that regard, but the innovative (ahem) Guild Wars 2 still shows you some stats. Ideally, if you have numbers, you should have all the numbers, that means the Hit Points and complete abilities of each mob so you can play accordingly, but no. Secrecy is the master, because numbers are all that matter.

Remove the numbers, focus on the story and horizontal progression and you have wonderful games. People would be lost at first, but they’d quickly adapt to that.

Creating a guild costs 1 silver. Ok.

Upgrading a guild to 500 members costs in total 4.21g. This price is extremely easy to pay these days.

I’m in a new guild since my previous one has become social-only. Most of our members are members of the previous one and we’ve hit the first cap very quickly and easily. Problem, we had several invites ongoing when we hit the cap. What happened? All the ongoing invites were simply discarded and the history only said “<account-name> has left the guild”.

First, the text is wrong: those people didn’t leave the guild, they were rejected, by an artificial mechanism, not by people. Second, <account-name> represents the account name, not the digit part of it, so in my case, one would have seen “Fror has left the guild”. And you don’t know the complete account name, so you cannot even reinvite people without possibly contacting the guy who threw the invite. So even as guild leader you cannot “fix what was broken”.

Ok, so it’s easy: just increase the size of the guild! Well, I’m not a guild leader (except my own bank, but I didn’t try) so I don’t really know how it works first hand, but my when my guild creator increased the size from 50 members to 100, she could not increase it to 200.

This is just plain wrong. The guild size increase costs nearly nothing (4.21g total) and we cannot pay it at once, forcing us to get inconveniences like having invites being automatically rejected.

So please, implement one of the following solutions because the current mechanism is everything but flexible:
- allow us to create guilds for 500 people from start for the mere price of 1 silver.
- allow us to increase the cap when we want, not when we approach it (or worse, reach it).

The problem with non-rep guild is that mosty people are representing their other guild and it becomes much harder to actually find guys to play with, because /g will never be used. You’ll end up messaging everybody.

To sort that matter, just “add friend” the guys you liked to play with in a dungeon and change their name so you can find back why you put them in there. This method has the extra advantage to be able to note which dungeons are their preference, restraining the number of people to message.

Allow me to start with any fractal I want

Fror.2163

Seriously, since Fractured, I got dredge only once when I run fractals 4-5 times a week. Over that time, I got Thaumanova twice and cliffside (as third one) twice as well. The rest of the time, it was volcano (maybe done it 10 times) and Aetherblade (all the rest).

I’m bored to death of doing Aetherblade. I want to get better at dredge, but it never pops up. I don’t even know how to play Thaumanova given the small amount of times I got it.

Oh yes, since fractured, I played underwater once. Rest of the time? It’s swamp, swamp, swamp and swamp. Maybe I forgot swamp too, but I’m not sure.

Random is random, but while I have good luck getting precursors, my luck in rolling fractals is bad. I certainly want less dredge than others, but between rolling it once since the Fractured update and rolling it every run, there’s a slight difference. I don’t want the latter, but I don’t want the former too. Hey, give me my part of complaining about dredge too!

The current implementation is plain stupid.

Be careful of Donjon sellers

Fror.2163

So let me get this straight.

1) You joined an AC-selling group and tried to kick the seller to be a troll.
2) The seller had taken precautions against this and kicked you instead.
3) You came here and starting whining about how he is a scammer because he kicked you.

That about right?

You’re clearly trolling, but I’ll feed the troll this once.

1. Lots of complaints on the lfg about a specific seller.
2. I check with several guys complaining. They paid the gold and didn’t get the path done. At one time there was 4 different guys complaining about that particular scammer.
3. Meanwhile I observe some strange dance around that LFG, it disappears then reappears quite often. This means people are massively being kicked out from that group, and it’s a “seller” group.
4. I go check in the dungeon and proceed to votekick by explicitly stating it’s a scam. I get kicked instead.
5. The “dance” of the lfg appearing and disappearing from the lfg tool continues for 10 minutes. They still don’t kick one guy, but all the three others.
6. I’m not complaining. I’m amused because they outsmarted me. I’m pro legit sellers, I’m against scam and I’m against exploited selling.

Why am I sure it was a scam?
- AC p3 is easy to do in group even as lowbies, much harder to solo/duo.
- The path was overpriced regarding the difficulty to play it in group.
- Over the course of 10 minutes, I see lots of players coming in and out of that LFG. I mean like every 20-30 seconds the LFG disappears because it’s full, then reappears with only two members: the two same people. It’s impossible to run AC p3 in 20-30 seconds. I know you’re good, Guanglai Kangyi, but can you duo AC p3 legit in less than 1 minute? (when I entered, only the boss was left, no other event was active)
- Over those 10 minutes, older “this guy stole my 4g” lfgs disappeared and newer appeared (different guys making those assertions).

Why did you even buy the path in the first place 4g down the drain.

I didn’t buy it.

I wondered that too. I mean everyone has their personal preferences, maybe the whole team consists of many classes but only one mesmer, and that mesmer does not like the staff for example as a weapon. So it will never be balanced, allways a tiny bit weaker etc…

Horrifying nightmares of every MMO… :s

There’s over 300 people in the ArenaNet offices. I’m pretty sure every possible race/class/weapon combo is covered.

Except that the original question is “what Developers play” and not “what employees play”

Please define “developer” then. Because ArenaNet is the developer of Guild Wars 2. Do you mean project architects/designers? Because they develop the main concepts of the game. Do you mean the programmers? Because the term “developer” is associated to them. So if you want semantics, please be accurate in your terms: developers may mean lots of things, it all depend on the context!

Dredge Fractal(Game Mechanics Development)

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Fror.2163

Fror.2163

Well people who use the mechanics in the guide do not have many issues.

Do you know that Obal has a hard time finding people to play fractals “the right way” for those videos?

With that in mind, let me translate the quote above: “the top players in the game still have issues completing the fractal the normal way but do it way better than the rest of us”.

Well if people want to play it in a way that makes it more difficult and annoying then that’s their decision. However, they can’t cry nerf as a result of it. It’s really sad if people would rather look for way to exploit than try a proven way that makes it easier. It’s difficult finding people to do it this way because they’re clueless that this method exists as most learned from the wiki or relied on previous exploits. The fact that people complain about infinite respawns shows that they’re unaware that these methods exists.

WTF are you speaking about?

You say the videos show great gameplay to beat the flaws of the game. I answer that Obal, who makes those videos, has a hard time making those videos because even the top groups don’t even always use proven techniques. And now you answer some gibberish about something not in the quote. If you want to answer to specifics, please do, but don’t quote every post in this topic to say again and again what you’ve already said and most of people agree on.

Also, you’re using flawed reasoning. I complain about those broken mechanics yet I effectively know how to beat the fractal thanks to experience in dedicated group similar to the methods described in the video. So stop this kind of sophisms please.

I know you want to preach the good way of playing fractals, but please don’t front oppose everyone that disagrees only with 10% of your ideas.

This is the oldest dungeon scam, but it was interesting to see in action yesterday evening.

Two guys complete legit a dungeon path (AC p3, in this case) except the boss of course. One of the guys stays at the entrance (level 80, probably the instance owner). The other switches to a low level thief and stands not far from the boss. This adds credibility.

Then they lfg-sell for 4g and the scam begins. As soon as someone enters, the thief says “gold to me” and people do so then get kicked. This made it look very credible as the thief was near the boss and the other one was standing exactly on the spawn spot.

I was made aware of that situation when I checked the LFG for AC p1 to buy: lots of lfg saying “AC P3 4g is a scam” or “<thief name> is a scammer”. I checked the lfg in question and knew I wouldn’t buy it. I entered and immediately said I’d pay, gaining some time to rally other players at my cause. I then proceeded to vote-kick the thief (and said “he’s a scammer” in /s so the thief wouldn’t see it). I saw the Plains of Ashford screen I expected to see and laughed. Yeah, it worked. Then I saw I wasn’t in the party anymore. Weird. Actually they had kicked me. I checked the lfg and it was still present. I regularly saw it popping it on and off as new players entered, but one aspect remained unchanged: two players were always the same, the thief and the guardian (probable opener). That’s when I got it. There wasn’t one scammer, but two. This was confirmed 10 minutes later when I checked again the lfg tool and my screenshot: the main party was the same.

Well played. You had me trying to get you out.

Nevertheless, as I understood the complete scheme, I reported both players both ingame and by e-mail.

Good luck getting gold when you’re banned guys

Double standard in patch-notes?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fror.2163

Fror.2163

ArenaNet mentioned several times in the past that they won’t mention exploit-patching. In the dungeon community, we see this is more than true with all those numerous ninja-fixes. So numerous that no one could list them all.

Yet, in these patch-notes, we clearly see the following:

  • Fixed WvW queue-related exploits.

This is rather specific. It’s not like “fixed various WvW exploits”. No. With the text RubiBayer wrote, we know there were exploits with the WvW queues. If I can think a bit about it, there was probably a possibility for people to bypass queues and either make one side more advantaged than the other or people going on the WvW maps before others.

When there are the dungeon ninja patches, there is nothing written. For instance, in this very same patch, the dredge fractal was rather well fixed (well, in the ArenaNet way of seeing this, not players’). No news about it in the notes. At all!

So please stop this double-standard: either announce all exploit fixes for all parts of the game, including but not limited to dungeons, or don’t add any for any part.

Yes, that’s the pure vision of an economist.

But you seem to forget one thing: all your argument is based on the limited supply of precursors. But in a way or another, there will be more precursors in the game. ArenaNet said it. All I’m saying is “since there will be more precursors, don’t make me craft it: make me enjoy getting it”.

Also, by playing the game, not the TP, I’m making more than 5g an hour. So your number seems irrealistic somehow as well. And taking the most expensive precursor induce flawed reasoning as well.
