You don’t need karma for your legendary weapon. You can also buy you obsidian shards with fractal tokens (15 each) or laurels (3 for 3).

So technically the best way to get those shards is to play 28, 38 and 48 fractals with a high personal reward level. You’ll get tons of tokens and some nice karma. I guess it’kittenting two birds with one stone. And oh!! Fractals are dungeons! Isn’t that good?

Also, they said that you may play the way you wanna play. They never said you’d get all possible rewards to play the way you wanna play. Don’t be self-entitled!

I personally wouldn’t blame the guardian too hard for the only reason that when I’m at Maw, I usually play Sword/Focus+Scepter/Focus. I keep the Sc/F for when I want to relax a bit on the last phase (because, hey, this is the 4th fractal and well… pugs). And when I’m Sw/F, I sometimes happen to swap weapons by mistake, rarely but still… it happens. I’d like to mention that if you have retaliation up (stand your ground, for instance) and play with projectiles on the colossi (typically the Sw 3 burst, but also Sc 1), you actually deal more damage to (one of) the colossi than with Sw auto-attack (based on experience, not numbers). But this is purely situational. On the other hand, if the guy played Sc/F for the whole phase, yes, that was stupidity.

The third attack in the sword chain also gets reflected, just FYI. Use GS for the colossi instead.

That’s the point! Put your retaliation up, use Sword 3. It gets reflected dealing dmg to you, but thanks to retaliation, you actually deal way more dmg to the colossus than the sword auto-attack. Granted you get some dmg (because of reflect), but nothing you can’t manage.

It’s not that difficult. You just need to know what to do. Dying again and again isn’t really a solution for anyone. So just watch this video explaining how to do it.

You only need Agony resistance for the boss fights in FotM. So if you want a MF amulet, just buy another one (with utility slot!) and switch to the AR one when needed.

If ArenaNet wanted some stats variety, they would never have created a 3-offensive-stats gear. It would optimally have been 2 offensive and 1 defensive stats or 1 offensive and 2 defensive stats.

And they actually wanted three-offensive-stats since they made Berserker, Rampager and the new Assassin stats repartitions. So yeah, Berserker is in the loop.

Given the road Anet is taking, Berserker is never going to be worse than PVT or cleric: at worse these stats will be equal for skilled people. Put some fight in there? Zerk wins. Remove fights? They’re equal.

If it always takes you two hours to get to the 3rd or 4th fractal, maybe it’s because you’re bad and that’s probably why you are being kicked out of the party.

So improve your play by doing other PvE content to get better at it then resume playing fractals. Other possibility: find yourself a guild to play fractals with.

Wayfarer was too OP. That’s why they removed it. You should try “giver’s” for a next run. You get to use healing power!1!!

Well, this is ambivalent. On one hand, you had no indication that anyone in the group was non “experienced” except for that guard. You asked the guys to go melee, 4 of you did (ok, after a while, but still… they did). On the other hand, it was “experienced”, and not “speedrun”.

I often play fractals and of course I get the dredge one.

My character is a guardian and I use blind a lot (sword 2, focus 4, greatsword 3). Also, it’s not rare that necros join and of course they can drop dark fields which I can blast (focus 5, hammer 2).

Well, with all that blindness, it happens that sometimes, for an unknown reason, those dredges that are supposed to be immune to blindness become… blind. Yes, blind.

If I knew how to reproduce this exactly I would say, but I just don’t know.

I’m not gonna complain as blinding dredges comes in my favor, but I think I should report it anyways.

I start a fractal 38 party with a friend, no other guildie joins, so let’s pug. When we enter, first thing we all notice: every single player has a legendary. I think “Oh man, I have a legendary, but at least I’m a good player; all previous experiences I had with guys with legendaries were awful”. We had the fractals in that order: Snowblind, Volcanic, Underground Facility and Solid Ocean.

It was the first time ever that I played a party where no one ever died in a fractal on that level, guild parties included.

Roman numbers are fine.

You can transmit your build easily over a game chat, and it is different from arabic numbers which, if they were used, would be confusing with the number of trait points spent.

TL;DR: it’s an effective way to show your trait build.

How can it be intended? No: blocking means no more interactions, yet the lfg tool bypasses my explicit wishes, so it’s a bug. No need to find excuses for a behavior that is clearly a bug.

If I block a player, I cannot see his LFG and I cannot join his party.

On the contrary, if I block a player, that player can see my LFG and can join my party.

When I block players it’s to not interact with them at all and make sure we don’t get in the same party ever again. So this is not working as expected.

Use common sense per dungeon/path. You need to compare what’s comparable: two runs within a path, not runs accross dungeons. So decide per path/dungeon what’s the best and stick with it.

For instance, I consider AC starts when the big door opens, but I consider the start of TA’s paths at different moments: when you enter the poison path for up and fw, but after you speak to Caithe when you do the new path.

Obsidian shards?

Play fractals and buy them with the fractal tokens you get (15 for one shard). Also you get karma for playing finishing a fractal. If you get a fractal 48, you get 145 tokens, which turn into 9 shards. If you are fractal level 48 and play fractal level 48, you get 6400 karma, which means 3 more shards.

So a full run of fractal 48 a day grants 12 shards. If you do 38 and 28, you respectively can buy 11 and 9 more shards.

1. Alt-friendliness (regarding gear, content reward, unlocks, gem-bought tools)
2. High end content (fractals, dungeons, temples, world bosses, etc.)
3. Making each class/build matter (zerk is too powerful, conditions are underwhelming, “support” is laughable).

Well, in the pure rotation, no I don’t blind. But from time to time, I use Sword 2 and Focus 4 to avoid a hit for instance (and hoooo, some vuln stacks). So it’s a bit out of the rotation as I don’t play against a mannequin

This is for a speedkill. With Honor’s 2nd slot, you have either Empowering Might (VIII) or Two-Handed Mastery (IX). With this kind of rotation, I believe you lose too much if you take Two-Handed Mastery. You could try to put this in your calc and compare both actually, but that’s what I think.

Edit, maybe you should be more explicit with what you mean by a “speedkill”, as I gave you a build for dungeon speed-running, and it’s efficient at killing bosses quickly.

If you exploit to get past Lupicus, no need for a ban. If you exploit to get past Lupicus and then sell the slots, I’m against it but not bannable.

If you exploit to get past Lupicus and then sell the slots again and again, yes that’s an exploit that should be bannable as you were making gold from profitting of that exploit.

Simple solution? Kill Lupicus.

I believe it’s three indeed but it might be four as I’m not traited for two-handed mastery.

My pure dps build is 10 (II) / 30 (VI,X,XI) / 0 / 20 (II,VIII) / 10 (VI).

I don’t know exactly the animation of WW, but it’s in the round of 2.5-3 seconds. There are plenty of videos available, which you can time exactly I believe.

Oh yeah, and before the 2nd WW, I wait for the 3rd hit of the auto-attack (Wrathful Strike) to be given before actually activating WW.

I personally use GS -> WW -> Symbol -> auto -> WW -> Sword -> auto until weapon switch is available -> GS. Might be wrong on that one, but that’s what I use.

If you or one of your guildie opened the fractal, don’t worry, they didn’t get really far either. Well, actually they got really far. In LA, to be precise.

The Dogged March trait reduces chill, immobilize and cripple by 33%.

These are cumulative with food, and runes. So in total, you remove 98% uptime of chill, immobilize and cripple and 65% of the others.

Effectively, given that you basically divide each time by 50, you’re immobilized for not even a tenth of a second, which is entirely neglectible, hence the exageration to 100% in the above post.

I’ve been playing regularly fractals 20+ since March, stopping at 28 until end of April, where I levelled until 38. Today, 28 and 38 are still the levels I play the most even if I’m now level 49. I don’t play everyday and I don’t do systematically both 28 and 38.

I’ve half a bank tab full of fractal weapons plus the ones my characters actually have on them. Okay, my teammates consider me lucky because I have twice as many skins as them (and mostly skins that they’d use, but I don’t) for the same runs as me.

So yeah, I have a real hard time believing you, Forkada.

A bit more than 5 gold for 100 gems, so 90+ gold for 1800 gems.

Which professions have some fun builds which can compete dps wise but also provide some grp support such as shouts venom aura or elixirs? I would prefer play the same build for all aspects of the game. I enjoy playing a class people are happy to be grouped with not only for damage but support as well.

Everybody is always happy to see a guardian in their group. Except for extreme PVE world records (which you run in private groups anyways), they are always in demand and can provide both DPS and support. There will always be people that say that a guardian does less damage than this class or that one. While that is true, in all cases, guardians are in the upper levels of choice. Regarding the support, guardians have a really nice set of utils that are very well in demand. For pure dps, I suggest you take a full zerker gear and learn to dodge properly. If you can’t dodge in this game, you can’t play.

Regarding WvW, guardians are also in high demands. They can survive and still deal decent damages, but in WvW, it’s mostly for their utilities combined to their overall damages that they are wanted. For WvW, you have two choices. Either you really max out your build for a WvW build or you take your PVE build and simply put soldier’s gear on. I do the latter without bothering with WvW-specific traits and I’m quite happy with it.

I have no precise idea about PvP, but from what I played (quite little I’m afraid), guardians aren’t top tier, but are still good.

TL;DR: By far, guardians is the most balanced profession in the game.

Nope, with 600% MF, you get 7/100 shots. It’s 1 + MF, not MF alone.

People can’t create parties correctly.

Two times I wanted to join an AC run and joined a CoF run listed under AC (only text was “lf1M p1 zerker”). Two times I got kicked as I joined the party because “sorry, we listed wrong”. All this happened within 3 minutes.

Now I can’t join any LFG… Please be more tolerant with the tool and allow people to leave parties for whatever reasons!

I never saw runs as long and as boring kitten guardians runs. These runs are even doomed to fail as people think they will survive everything and everytime, I always ended up soloing or duoing the mobs.

5 guardian party? I won’t ever do that anymore! I prefer running in a party being the only guard with 4 bearbows.

I’ve started to solo challenging champs all over Tyria. Yet I can’t go try Lupicus because I just don’t know how to get to him by myself.

I should probably watch some videos, but all the videos I see are videos of soloing Lupicus himself, not how to get there.

For instance, from my experience, the fastest path would be p2. But then, what can I skip and what must I fight? I don’t know (mostly I al. I’m willing to learn, but so many people have gone there that I think this is no secret; I just don’t have access to that.

So please, is there any current guide (text or video) you know that can help me in my goal? I main a guard, so of course I’d prefer something that can focus on that class, but any guide is good and I can adapt

Since the achievements started rewarding stuff, I’ve been an achievement kitten. I did them all (except for Liandri, but that’s because I couldn’t win that fight, as sad as it is). It was time-consuming and couldn’t get out of my head: I had to do them. Getting five dailies weren’t enough: I had to do them all!

Since last update I gave up and wow, I’m enjoying the game again. I play more of what I like and well, I get rewarded for it. Slower than other people, but I don’t care anymore.

I haven’t set a foot in SAB and it feels good. I really enjoyed the first one when it first came out, but I don’t want to play this now. Bummer, it will be gone when I’ll probably want to test it out, but I don’t mind. This permanent grind with such an intense pace (new content every two weeks) is just not working for me. I prefer to run dungeons or WvW with my usual groups and get my stress in there rather than a permanent one for getting all achievements from Scarlet or SAB.

The only thing I’m sad with when I think about this is that I will not enjoy all the content made available when I want it. But that’s another topic.

I now feel relaxed and I just wanted to share it.

With the newly introduced ascended weapons, we can see that if we want to vendor them, we can get 1 gold. When I compare that with the rings, I can sell them only at 4.95s each. Not even 5%.

If I compare, an exotic ring is worth 3.96s at a vendor and a weapon can vary between 2.64s and 3.96s.

So please fix the price of the rings so they match the prices of the weapons, just like exotics do. This way I can finally get rid of my dozens of ascended rings.
