My current forum signature has one line with 79 characters on it:

I’d like to update it to the following line with 98 characters on it:

Sigrídur Jónsdóttir (Norn Guardian with Sunrise and The Juggernaut) – Alba Deathmane (Charr Necro)

It looks like the characters in line are counted after some transformation into more characters: html entities, unicode, … When you state maximum X characters, it should mean X characters, not X characters after we perform our secret transformation.

So now, every two weeks we have new contents. Good! I like it. It’s happening soon enough everytime and we can play it as we want.

However with the new achievement rewards, I feel like we don’t have enough time between releases to complete everything. Why, because it takes time and dedication to properly get all the achievements and therefore the points to progress. Some people can do it in two weeks. Some other not. Me, for instance, it takes time before I get immersed. I do the achievements only on week-ends and well, in two week-ends, I don’t always have the time to make all achievements.

So could you have a new release every 2 weeks, yes, but remove it only after 4 weeks, having an overlap between two stories for 2 weeks?

Ilr, stop arguing. I didn’t check their gear, I didn’t even blink at the composition. I know what to do in general and we did it. 2 never played the dungeon, they aced it. Guided, evidently, but they did really well for a first time.

All I’m saying is that a group of 4 new guys and 1 decent player, the whole group did well. It wasn’t exceptional: it was good. Is it so hard to admit that not all your preconceptions fit each encountered patterns?

Conveniently? No, it wasn’t intentional, I didn’t even think it was relevant. You wanna know the composition? Sure: 1 guardian (me), 1 ele (with ice bow), 2 necros, 1 mesmer (without timewarp). Wanna know the colour scheme of each of our armor too? All of that was run in 35 minutes, maybe 40 minutes tops, including the time I took to explain the mechanics to the two guys who never ran any dungeon in GW2 before.

We killed everything because they simply rejected the idea of skipping.

Achievement points don’t tell anything precisely, but’s an indicator about the dedication of the people.

I played with a group of level 35-50 not later than yesterday. Except for me (6k), the highest achievement number was around 800.

We did it efficiently and had a lot of fun!

Oh yeah, only one wipe, at the spider, and Kohler died, 2 tries at the burrows.

I guess all it takes is patience from the experienced people and ability to listen for the first-timers.

Now that I see all those vids, I actually look at the racial before creating a new char. For an experienced guardian, it makes absolute sense.

With 300 healing power (popular Anchor build)
Healing Breeze: 6825 heal for 40s cd ~= 170 hps
Shelter: 4765 heal for 30s cd ~= 159 hps
Signet of Resolve: 8525 for 40s cd ~= 213 hps
Prayer to Dwayna: 6775 heal for 30s cd ~= 225 hps

With 0 healing power:
Healing Breeze: 6525 heal for 40s cd ~= 163 hps
Shelter: kitten heal for 30s cd ~= 152 hps
Signet of Resolve: 8150 for 40s cd ~= 204 hps
Prayer to Dwayna: 6520 heal for 30s cd ~= 217 hps

So for much less personal hps, you can get either group heal or block, but hey… everybody’s got a heal skill and I can dodge. So you have the choice: 220 hps or 210 hps (averages). What do you choose? Oh yes, when you don’t use 210 hps, you can get 1 condition removed every 10s.

To hell with the condition removal upon no use of the skill, I have enough already; let’s take Dwayna’s: I can trigger it every 30s.

Could make Powerful Blades have 20% reduction in sword skills and 5% damage. Also a 1 sec immobilize on Flashing Blade would be nice. I don’t know how to make it less “vague” than that. Also guardians fastest auto is with the scepter, with it being 1/4 sec and sword being 1/2 sec.

Now this is said, let’s go to constructivism:

So why do you want Flashing Blade immobilize? Why isn’t Blind enough? Immobilize already exists on Scepter. Do you want the sword to be a melee scepter? For me, they both fill different roles. With scepter you immobilize your opponent so your auto-attack is “less lost” when the target moves, plus you give some vulnerability stacks to increase the dmg. With sword, you blind in melee to start dps while making the opponent miss his/her first hit. I don’t see the need to immobilize your opponent, except to throw him #3 or GS#2 in the face, which you be OP.

Why do you want more damages? Why do you think the sword doesn’t deal enough dmg? Compared to other classes? The sword is the fastest melee weapon of a guardian. With a guardian, you have the choice: whether you hit fast but with not really high damages or you deal high damages at a slower rate. The sword represent the fast aspect of this duality.

I do think that you need to understand that the guardian isn’t the warrior. His role is to deal decent damage while controlling the opposition and buffing the rest of the group so the rest of the group gets through the fight. It doesn’t need to deal absurd damages.

How is the sword not a good weapon?
- The default damage isn’t bad at all.
- The auto attack is the fastest attack for a guardian. I easily keep the aggro of a mob with it.
- The combo 2-3 takes the best of the sword by getting close to the enemy then dps him very well.
- The general mobility is excellent since you’re “blocked” only by the skill 3 and you don’t get slowed by the two other skills (unlike the greatsword that slows you down for skill 2 and 5, immobilizes when you use 4; or even the hammer that forces you in some moves)

No, really, I’d like serious arguments for buffing this weapon, not a vague “I think”.

Apparently, I wasn’t clear.

The problem is that people are not rewarded for playing the game as they want : they are rewarded for playing the game as Anet wants. That’s a problem.

Furthermore, the dailies are tightly tied to the achievement system, giving even more rewards for doing the dailies. So players really are pushed to do them even if they don’t like it. And players are pushed to now do all the daily items. That’s a problem.

Right, you’re still free to not do it, but given the rewards, it’d be dumb to not do them. So, by default, this choice is bad.

Yesterday, I came home late and launched GW2. Given my day, my brain was in off mode.

The guild was active in WvW so I joined. I had my part of fun. Great. I played for about 1 hour, then I saw I had only three dailies out of five done (and only one WvW-related daily).

I checked the hour and thought “yeah, I can do AC story before going to bed”. At least I do a dungeon, not some stupid gatherer/craft daily. 20 minutes later I’m out of the dungeon and I’m at 4 achievements out of five.

What’s left? Oh cool, some Maguuma event and some underwater killer. That will be easy and I won’t do those stupid gatherer and crafts. I go to my underwater spot in Maguuma Jungle and farm mobs. Daily done.

Additionally, I’m now at 3 events out of 4. It would be too bad not to finish it. Let’s finish and see if the flame thingy is on in Metrica Province. Aye it is. Good, I’ve done my dailies.

Hey, curious, what were the other daily achievements? Oh, only craft / gatherer left? (+ kill dollies, other wvw achi) Easy, well, hey 2 achievement points are 2 achievement points. So let’s go to Frostgorge, gather and craft the result.

Cheers, it’s done. I played two hours. Good. Time to log off, yeah I’m in time. Good job, I’m now closer to the next achievement level.

What did I do in my dailies that I liked?
- WvW
- Soloing a champion in Metrica Province

What did I do in my dailies that I’m not fond of?
- Gathering again
- Crafting again
- Killing underwater again
- Farming mobs in Metrica Province again
- Doing the same events in Metrica Province again
- Doing a dungeon story again where I’d have preferred an explorable.

By doing my dailies I’m not rewarded for playing I like to play, but I’m rewarded for the way Anet wants me to play.

Even more now that the achievements reward gold, laurels and other stuff. My brain was off and what did I do? I maximized my achievement gains. That’s not how I want to play, but that’s how I’m playing when my brain’s off. I didn’t enjoy the parts of the daily we have to do.

I’m not speaking about a different ordering, if that’s what you intend.

Hey, as stated in another topic, I love the new achievements panel.

I suggest a few modifications though as I believe it still needs some polishing:

• Order the History category chronologically.
• Allow filters on completion.
• Remove inaccessible achievements from the “near completion” section.
• Add a search tool

I believe this would make this perfect.

@OP: play a condi necro on fractals 30+ with full rabid set (ascended is even better) in a berserker group. You’ll see what aggro is. For an optimal experience, play the mossman or the shaman. You can switch “berserker group” by “pug group” for even better result.

Spoilers: the result of this experience is putting your necro in the fridge.

I’m in a guild, it’s great, but for PvE I pug a lot because we’re only 2-3 in high level fractals or able to dungeon in a decontracted but efficient manner (so no speedrun, but no death and no grief). So, I’m kind of loner too, even for open PvE. I’ll help any guys/group with issues on map or in guild, and I enjoy that. When I see on map “have you seen <guild-bounty>?” I even do the usual path and help out if I can.

You have two rings, one infused. That’s 15 AR. Well, get some challenge and play in 20+. With 15 you are supposed to play in 20-29…

The guy is “exploiting” the areas of the citadel. If he moves a bit further away from it, it will be gone.

But to be honest, the boundaries of the citadel aren’t really well in phase with what we see of them.

If you think a bit further, you’ll see that inflation will occur and prices will rise. Not that cultural armor, of course, but on the TP yes.

For instance, at a moment I was crafting and selling silver doubloons. They were selling between 35 and 40s each and I was making profit. I had 1 bank tab full of nuggets. Then the fever for doubloons came and the price rose up to 80-90s each, while the nuggets price stayed the same. I crafted all my bank tab into doubloons and made a good profit selling them. When I wanted to buy new nuggets again, I saw that the price had become insane because the recipe had leaked in a visible topic on this forum at that moment. I stopped this line of production and went on to something else.

Cultural armors were released before the first objects of type “skin” were released. I’m sure that if it were developed now, it would be a skin, not an actual armor.

On the Discovery side, it is not better. I put items from left side into the slots right side, and it tells me that I have or more unknown recipe for the selected items, but the “craft” button remains grey (for example: Bolt of wool with bone shard). So it does not work to get a new recipe. I am stuck there too.

Given the fact that those two items make a recipe and that you need 3 shards for this recipe, I think you’re lacking one or two bone shards for your recipe to work. Try find enough to have three in total (or buy off the TP).

Okay, you convinced me: don’t remove their pet.

But the issue remains, they still have too many skills. So I’m asking to reduce their number of skills. Remove the downed skills 2 and 3 would be normal, I think, given they still have their pets.

This week isn’t fun. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because everytime I went in EB I saw GH spawn-camping. Maybe it’s because everytime I went to the borders, GH was there with 2 times our numbers. Maybe it’s because we didn’t even had time to cap another tower that the previous one was already recapped or being recapped.

It’s the first time ever that I came to WvW with huge lead feet and that I actually preferred playing PvE for nearly the whole week.

So 7 professions have access to 4 skills while downed, and one can have 8? I wouldn’t mind that they could use their their pet if the ranger had only 2 skills downed: “throw dirt” and “bandage”, not that “lick wounds” that full heals you in 3 seconds.

But no worries, lessons learned, I know how to overcome this case next time I’m facing it. I’m not complaining about that.

So I was doing my first PvP. I’m quite used to my guard on wvw so I went with that in PvP not knowing what I do.

I end up on a map where only one ranger is. Ok, let’s start the fight. We fight for 5 minutes without anyone getting downed then, being a bit surprised by the PvP I notice I had my wall of reflection (yeah, bad play from me for not noticing, no judgment please). I drop it and I play around it. The ranger suicides because he doesn’t stop throwing arrows. Good, though my HP are low.

So I try to finish him. His pet is attacking me and I’m interrupted. Ok. I try a second time and again, I’m interrupted. Now I think about a bug and I’m hurrying to finish him with my skills sword and greatsword. But of course, he’s a ranger, so he has the pet heal. And that heal beats my damages. I’m at 10% life, shouts on cooldown. So he gets up with 25% life, all skills available and he finishes me and stomps me.

I discussed it with a friend that tells me rangers still can use their F1-4 buttons while downed. And he must have interrupted me twice with two of his pets (pressing F2, F4 and F2 again), probably canine according to him, and that matches my recollection of the fight.

I play a ranger and I never used the F1-4 buttons while downed, so I’m not aware of that. But I tried on guard, those simply don’t work.

So I believe there’s a bug that should be fixed here: downed rangers shouldn’t be able to use their F1-4 when downed.

Just for info, the dances are different between genders.

Put a male and a female of each race next to each other, both type /dance * and watch the complete dance loop. It’s mostly similar, but not completely.

If you only need 60 more skill points, I’m fairly sure the alts can wait. At FotM20 you get almost 4 skill points in tokens.

At level 20, you get 30 from Maw, 8 from each boss (thus x3) and 30 from the run. That’s 84 total. A skill token costs 35. You can get only 2 skill tokens total from that and you save 14 for the next run, so you get an extra one every 3 runs.

Actual XP from the fractals? It never goes beyond 20% of a level, for the whole run.

My suggestion for skill points?
- Play fractals dailies 30-38, 40-48
- Play fast dungeons (once, ’cause the next rewards are low)
- Play wvw

I get around 60 a week this way, playing 4-5 hours a day (spread on all my alts without dungeon-repetition accross alts, but still).

Let’s say my guild bank has a pile of 50 mats. I want to add 50 of the same to that pile, I can’t, no matter whether I have rights or not: I have to withdraw the items then compact them then put them back alltogether. Items should be stacked automatically when we drop a pile onto another.

Okay, yeah. Obviously that was the BS answer you were going to give. Guess what? Most people measure fun by speed, ease, and level of success. That makes warrior-based groups more fun for most people— but most people don’t have access to the 3/8 classes that can get into min/maxed groups.

Since fun is completely, 100% subjective though, I didn’t think it was worth bringing up.

Can you admit that by the measures I provided, a warrior based team is superior?

I’d like you to respect as well the guys that don’t measure fun based on speed. Because guess what? I usually don’t like PvP, but the Dragon Ball is simply awesome :-)

I can manage 15 stacks of bleed with 150-170 dmg a tick without much difficulty, with highest peaks to 192.

Add to that the fact that part of my bleeds are AoE-based, I can add 5-7 stacks to another mob in the same time. Add my epidemic spamming, I believe that it’s good enough.

So well, the numbers are small, yes, but in the end, they just deal huge amount of dmg, so yes, they are attractive already.

• 20 slot bags – cost: badges + small amount of coin
• Exotic back pieces with various stats – cost: badges + small amount of coin
• Gift of Ascension – cost: badges + small coin (like the Gift of Battle)
• Obsidian shards – cost: badges

Random drops that are still missing:

• Glob/Vial/Shard of Mist Essence

• 20 slots bags: yes, or at least make the runes of holding can be bought or dropped
• Exotic back pieces: yes
• Gift of Ascension: yes
• Obsisian shards: no, WvW rewards huge karma. Use that, whether by buying shards at a balth temple (it’s pve) or in orrian boxes (requires running to Orr, which is done in 10 minutes with a level 80 levelled in WvW)
• Vial, glob, shard: no, use another currency, like… badges ?

Stay under the bubble and use stability when the boss is about to push you out of it.

By the way, the pillar is clearly the wrong way to go: too many times melee are ejected. Use a cavity on the other side of the room: everytime you’ll be pushed, you’ll stay in the cavity and can come back really quick. Don’t aggro the boss until you all are at that safe place.
