Norn dances are already a bit different whether a character is male or female. Isn’t it the same for each race?

I start to believe that the cutscene was originally there and it disappeared for some reason. Now they just put it back in the fractal.

I have a lot of rare or expensive weapon skins on my main. I crafted them not because they’re expensive, but because they’re going well together.

I think the wrong premise here is that you take the weapons individually and don’t look at the greater picture. Just don’t focus on one weapon, go outside of LA and play with your weapons and try to weapons that make your animations look pleasant!

Everybody thinks that the Weapons of the Mist go only together (“hey pink, man, you don’t want that on each character”). Oh man, that is sooo boring visually; try to mix-and-match those skins for a bit.

Korsbaek, with any probability below 1, you can never be sure to have 1 at one point in time. This is simple (real) math.

Taht’s why all pugs I met do in this order: p3>p2>p1. p1 is still the most popular so disbanding after fail on that golem part is less problematic to finish.

While pugging, I encountered all the following scenarios on that golem p1.
1. we name the guy 20 times so he comes to the switch, “oh I didn’t know you spoke to me”
2. 4 people go on the switch, only 3 activate. “sorry, what do I have to do with the switch?”
3. “3, 2, 1, activate”
“interrupt: X isn’t activating. X please activate when we say. 3, 2, 1, activate”
“interrupt: X isn’t activating. Dammit X, press F. 3, 2, 1 activate "
X dodges out
“You told me to press F, I pressed F. F is my dodge button”.
4. And finally, the great classic “we see that we are bad at this dungeon, so let’s do 1-1-1-1-1”.

So I don’t understand why p1 is the most popular. There is no reason. My worst experience always were on p1. p1 isn’t the most easy because you don’t dodge. p1 is the hardest because of pugs.

So far I did only one run. We had the Volcano, the Ascalon and the Harpy fractals (plus Maw).

And a video appeared of nowhere in the Volcano fractal showing that there are boulders/balls in the tunnel after the first batch of grawls. It’s a 2-3 seconds video, like the ones where the boss pushes the the prisoners in the lava or when he jumps in the lava. It’s good for newbies, but for experienced people, this video shouldn’t even exist, IMHO (well, any video in the fractals, tbh).

Well, I there were two places, apparently, after we killed the first batch of grawls.

The beginning of the tunnel with the big killer balls:
- The first of our party was near the tunnel and ran through it. Video triggered
- The rest of us ran through the tunnel, video triggered again. One guy died because the ball rolled on him and he respawned quickly as we weren’t in combat or on fire.
- The dead one runs back through the tunnel, the video triggers again.

The video also triggered when the next event starts or a bit before that. That event is the one where we have to kill veteran grawls before they push the prisoners in lava.

The new video in the Volcano fractal triggerred not less than 4 times, making a few dead in our party.

It seems that everytime we pass on a specific place, the video triggers. We have to hope to not get killed by the giant ball when the video ends.

Please fix this.

What about the Juggernaut? I’m pretty sure that doesn’t have footsteps either, and if it does then it has a very underwhelming effect (a silvery water-like trail when swung). Also when wielded there’s no glow/aura on it or the wielder either.

The Juggernaut is perfect in the legendary hammer role. It has footsteps, a wonderful aura and special skill effects. The footsteps are the small quicksilver trail you noticed. Not being big makes the effect interesting! The aura is the armor skin that changes to something much more metallic. Finally the quicksilver trail for each skill makes it very unique.

So I think that you haven’t really looked at it. Ask to a Juggernaut wielder to show you those, he’ll be happy to oblige I guess. If you look for any, just ask me: I happen to have it

If you look at the mini map, you can clearly see the champion, as it is event-related. Also its role is to guard that SP. I conclude this though I have only 3 chars with that skill point, so I may be wrong, but everytime I went there, he was too. It’s not like it’s a surprise.

Grats on the feat to have covered that much content without dying! ;-)

Anyone who thinks GS is the best weapon for dungeons doesn’t play two one-handed weapons efficiently (no matter the profession: sword/X for guardian, mesmer and ranger and axe/X for warrior).

A guildie and myself have a discussion about Absolute Resolution: does it remove condition on me and my allies or only on me?

Well, from what I recall, it wasn’t the case: if you traited for Virtue of Resolve you heal allies, yes, but the 3 conditions removed are on you only. My guildie stands by the wiki that says that all allies (max 5, ofc) are both healed and cleansed. I know the wiki has been wrong in the past, so I don’t take that as a proof.

So… what is correct? Does Absolute Resolution cleanse my allies or me only?

Until I dropped Entropy I didn’t know that there were new skins. I checked on the website and they appeared in the new patch apparently. I thought “Great, I just dropped one!” then I checked the price on the TP. One. Hundred. Thirty. gold! Hey I didn’t think twice and put it on the TP and it sold within the hour. The skin will drop in price in the next few days. It’s a permanent addition so people will find this again and again, it’s a bit like Final Rest that was 80-100g when first dropped. I’ve played on the TP, so I’ve already gotten that kind of money several times.

Now you think “great man, gz, happy for you, enjoy the money, stop showing off on the forum”. Well thanks, but that’s not why I create this topic.

I want to know what comes to mind of people that buy it. How come those guys spend 130g on this kind of items, especially since the biggest farm spot (CoF1) has been nerfed. Farmers can’t make that amount in a short amount of time like they used to with CoF. So why spend so much? And I’m not even talking about Genesis that was, last I checked, 300g! These items are new so the price can only drop! I’m not saying the price should be like 2g like all other exotics given the specialy of the skin, but more in the range of 10-30g. So what makes people spend so much on a random drop?

I’m currently playing in a guild that has decided to focus more on WvW. We still have some PvE events, but those are becoming more and more rare. I like both PvE and WvW and I want to stay in my guild to play WvW.

These last 2 months, we’ve been playing less and less PvE content, forcing me to play with pugs more and more to get my content of PvE play.

I’m looking for a guild to efficiently play dungeons with the following requirements. If your guild doesn’t fulfill even one of those, thanks for looking but I won’t accept your invitation:
- no mandatory representation: I want to represent my current guild at all times
- able to run any dungeon
- able to run any fractal level (below 50, the current “official” limit)
- can teach the dungeons I’ve only run as casual (that is Arah, actually)
- I don’t need to be on the server of the guild.
So in short, I’m looking for a guild that is more like a list of good dungeon players than anything. And I would know that partying with people of the guild would give everybody a good time.

Who am I?
I am a good player. Not excellent, but good. I play mostly in European primetime until a bit late in the night (midnight UTC latest).

I know the mechanics for most dungeons (bar Arah and paths underplayed by pugs like TA F/U, CoF 3) but I have yet to play fractals 40+. Don’t worry, I learn fast. I’m willing to prove myself to you so you can evaluate me. Though I admit I don’t solo much (so if that’s your proof request, sorry I won’t be able to fulfill it yet).

I’m mainly playing an anchor guardian and a berserker mesmer. I have 3 other level 80 geared characters (zerker warrior, zerker ranger and condition necro) but I have noexperience in dungeons with those as they were created for farming and fun. I’m currently in the process of levelling the 3 other classes.

I have access to voice software so I can hear you, but I will not speak on it.

Please, please, skip several living stories to focus on bugfix.

This is a great game. I enjoyed it every single minute I played it, but the more you release, the more you break existing things and we don’t see them fixed.

There’s this methodology named release early, release often. You’re following it nearly to the letter and it’s good! But the main problem with this methodology is that it introduces bugs more often too.

I would ironically say that the only permanent content that you add are the bugs, but well, I see GW2 evolving with each release and I like it and so far the contents outweighs the bugs.

Please take your time to polish the game and actually test it, even old features, because that’s where the bugs are the most introduced, not the new content. There will be a time where I’ll estimate the cup will be full and I will leave. I don’t know when or what will trigger it but currently I wish it’s really the latest possible.

When you hover the guild or the wvw icons, there used to be a hint showing the current buffs that these two components of the game offer us. Now it’s not the case anymore.

Indeed, I forgot about that case as I’ve maxed out those a long time ago on all my main characters. Nonetheless you have a confirmation popup. Adding your total gem amount on the popup should be enough, with something like “This feature costs XXX gems. You currently have YYY gems. Are you sure you want to buy it?”.

So my point stays.

Gems have a too proeminent position in the inventory.

When do I need to see how many gems I have? When I buy stuff on the gem store. And… that’s it.

When I’m on the gem store, I can see the number of gems I have on that screen. In big.

When I’m not on the gem store and I want to know how many gems I have, I have several options:
- I open the gem store
- I open my inventory and hover the + button
- I open my inventory and click the + button
- I open my inventory

That’s too many options for the number of times I’m actually using them. Ok, now I understand gems are what makes ArenaNet gain their actual money, so I understand the promotion. But then, put it where it’s relevant, aka in a place of choice in the wallet, in a place of choice in the gem store and in a place of choice in the + button popup (double the size there even if you want).

Also, the amount of gems rarely varies unlike gold or karma, or even laurels (are there a lot of people who buy/use gems more than once a day, every day?) and I don’t need to be kept up to date of the amount of gems I have at all times.

So maybe it’s present there so that we mentally compute the amount of gold we can get from the gems? Maybe it’s a reminder that the gem store exists, so that we don’t accidentally forget the gem store exists? No worries we will ever forget: any access to the TP reminds us that.

So please, please, remove the gems from the inventory: it’s a useless information and it has nothing to do with the inventory at all.

Yes, I’ve had this issue for a few days and notified the support with lengthy descriptions, test cases and screen shots. As far as I know they are working on it.

I got the longbow achievement on my guardian. I play a lot of reflects and at the time I got it I was in harpy fractals using my wall of reflection. So I seem to have killed that harpy with her own weapon.

You also can’t use racial skills in PvP so it’s a non-issue

PvP in this case means WvW where you have access to racial skills, ofc.

Efficiency in an RPG isn’t as important as being happy with your character in an RPG to a whole lot of people.

As I said, I play a norn guardian and I’m very happy with it. But well, I come to min-max now, and in that context, I’m sad to see that I have not the best option available to me and that my racial skills are… funny, yes that’s all: funny. The only racial I ever use is the wurm one to avoid some hits against Old Tom in the Uncategorized fractal, because wall or shield don’t work here. I can use one racial skill for 1 mob I play once every three days in an average. Wow, that’s some racial skill!

Indeed, I forgot to mention Signet Mastery for Signet of Resolve.

In that case, well… Signet of Resolve becomes your best heal skill. But you’re simply gimping yourself by not picking better traits, except if you take Guanglai Kangyi’s builds which are based on signets.

In this game except for lore and personal preferences, there is no reason to play anything other than a human for a guardian: Prayer to Dwayna is the single most powerful healing skill in the game for that profession.

All classes have a healing strictly superior to Prayer to Dwayna except Guardian. What helps me say that? Math.

Let’s consider the two cases: 0 healing power and 300 healing power (full line for that profession).

When I speak about hit points per second, I speak on an average if used one right after the other. Also, I will consider self heal only because I’m selfish; so if a skill heals other players I will count only what happens to me. Also, a dictionary:
- “hpow”: healing power
- “hp”: hit points
- “hps”: hit points per second

Guardian

Healing Breeze recharges for 40 seconds:
- 0 hpow: 6525 hp = 163.125 hps
- 300 hpow: 6825 hp = 170.625 hps
Shelter recharges for 30 seconds:
- 0 hpow: kitten hp = 151.83 hps
- 300 hpow: 4765 hp = 158.33 hps
Signet of Resolve recharges for 40 seconds:
- 0 hpow: 8150 hp = 203.75 hps
- 300 hpow: 8525 hp = 213.125 hps

Human

Prayer to Dwayna recharges for 30 seconds:
- 0 hpow: 6520 hp = 217.33 hps
- 300 hpow: 6775 hp = 225.83 hps

One could argue that those guardian skills are useful! Yes some are, but Prayer to Dwayna is the best. Period.

- Healing Breeze: sorry but this skill shouldn’t even exist. Everybody should provide his own heal. We all have a heal slot, I see no reason that I should take waste this slot so that people don’t get killed. I provide enough boons as a guardian to be egotistic on this one. If it were a shout I wouldn’t mind, but it’s not. The heal over time is comparable to Shelter. A bit better, but not that much. Anyways it’s unusable as you have to manually target the guys you want to heal. Just no.

- Shelter: A nice option. Being able to block some attacks is great in some instances. For instance, you double-dodged in front of Alpha and you’re now out of endurance. Well, you got a get out of trouble card with this one as you can regain your endurance while skill evading his attack. But the drawback is a very low heal, the lowest of the game actually if we discard the extremely rare case where a necro get downed immediately after Well of Blood or if he jumps out immediately after cast. But hey, once you can dodge properly and you only take the “normal” hits, this skills serves to nothing.

- Signet of Resolve: Another nice option. Over time, you get healed in the same range as Prayer to Dwayna. In terms of pure heal, this is the best shot for a guardian without race consideration. The big downside of this skill is the recharge time. 40 seconds, compared to the 30s of Prayer to Dwayna. As a guardian, I prefer to heal for less in one time, but having the option to heal sooner. Exactly what prayer to Dwayna does. Our alternate ways of healing are good enough to allow this. But hey once the signet is recharged, you can heal your conditions…

- Prayer to Dwayna: it’s a vanilla skill, granted. Simple but efficient. Get healed for a fair amount of life, and only 30s later that good skill is available again.

Also, for a good guardian build, the other racial skills are marginal, yes all the skills, not exclusively the heal skills. So yes, if you’re smart, you should roll a human for your guardian only for this skill. It’s sad to see, but true.

I play a Norn guardian for nearly a year now and I’m used to switch between Shelter and Signet of Resolve depending on my gameplay. I’m sooo disappointed when I face the fact that I cannot access the best heal skill available for a guardian.

The best single AOE skill is, according to the wiki, Smite, a guardian skill.

For me, the runes should stay locked behind dungeon tokens, but not account-bound. So we can sell them on the TP.

Sorry, I didn’t understand you were speaking about the stones. My mistake.

But then it’s even worse… 1 Mystic Forge Stone costs 45 gems (bought in bulk), which is roughly 1.5g.

If you do it with the current giveaways of those due to achievements, indeed, it’s quite ok, but those are definitely in limited count.

That’s the point, let the other seal regen. And the hammer runner must be good enough to avoid most of the attacks (dodge, stability, invisibility, etc.)

Don’t let one live: let the two of them.

If you still fail, focus on one side and farm it by always aggroing all the mobs of that side, reducing the heal they perform on the seal. While you aggro one side, continue hitting left and right normally. The other side will heal but after a while, the chosen side will be destroyed and then you can focus on the other side completely.

PvE achievement category? Living World is in a PvE achievement category? Ah… I should read the news.

Ummm… 4 exotic greatswords for mystic forging = 1560 tokens. You could get 52 rares with that much. Assuming a .9 conversion to ectos, that’s 47 ectos. Lowest sell price of ectos is at 18.42s, so a profit of about 15s if you sell via TP. That would come out to 7.05g. While some greatswords are super expensive, most are around the 2g area. You’d have to get a ton of tokens or be very very lucky for it to get close.

I go for shields actually since they are only 210 tokens and its precursor is decently pricy (~300G). I toss them in with a mystic forge stone. From my experience, the exotic weapons I get average around ~2G (with the Pearl stuff the most common one, which are around ~1.70g ish) Just randomly including the expected value of much more higher valued stuff, assuming 2G per forge….

That’s about 2G per 630tokens. 630 tokens is is 21 rares. Assuming 0.9 ectos/salvage, and assuming the cost of salvage kit itself balances out the sigil/rune/mats, that’s ~19 ectos, which assuming 15s per profit, is around 2G85S total.

2G vs 2.85G. Not the same of course, but it’s almost competitive.

I’m not using it loosely: you see a weakness in the game, you make profit from it, it’s an exploit. In this case you provoke an event to not end for profit. Is it playing as intended? No: it’s exploiting.

Also I’m not against farming, or even farmers. The line is thin between farming and exploiting. Farming mobs that naturally spawn every X time is ok. Making the mobs spawn every shorter time is not.

The first defense line of any exploiter. So let me get this straight. The definition of an exploit is the following:

You see a strange behavior happening giving you profit beyond what is normal. You observe that you can repeat it. You repeat it to get profit beyond normal. You’re exploiting.

Prove me that you are not using this pattern to the letter in your case and I’ll withdraw that accusation of exploiting.

So it goes both ways. We realize that this event more than likely isn’t meant to be farmed and that people want to complete it. But at the same time we’re the ones putting all the work into setting it up for us and others who want to farm. The giant will die in time from the NPCs attacking it, stray AOEs, and so on. Just give us our hour or two of farming before that happens

Good to see someone with balls: you publicly admit to Anet that you exploit despite the policy about exploits. That’s indeed some balls you got!

I usually run without fountain with a small group of 3-4 people.

But the other day I was alone. So for once I used the fountains. The experience was great. I used the first fountain and got to the dark room while passing three enemies. In the dark room there was this guy ambushing noobs (complains on /m). Well… let’s just say that I was still invisible and had my glass cannon stuff in my inventory. Now, that’s how you treat ambushers. If it were a normal guy simply doing his JP like the three I passed while invisible, I wouldn’t have done anything. But an ambusher? He got that lesson right.

In short: use the tools at your disposal and you’ll be ok. Tools might be co-runners, fountains, traps, etc.
