I might login to check out the new map, but my friends quit the game so I have no team… and since I don’t believe you can solo queue the ranked tournaments there’s nothing else for me in the game yet… will probably keep on rocking planetside2. So, it’s not really the pvp patch of the motherlord, those with friends to form a team might come back but can’t imagine an explosion of returners :P However, a new map is a new map and even ninjaed in a capture the flag… that’s good.

As to OP, PVE wise, there’s a Living Story in the works and we have the prelude stirring as of the Jan.28 patch. It’s not that much YET, but if you’re into stories and such, it looks promising. And there are a couple changes here and there in some dungeons, some might please you while others are disheartening.
In PVP, 1round tourney is in play and being tested in Paids. Devs say they gonna say byebye to 8-team tourneys. No game changing balance tweaks yet, will be up in the next patch which will be really soon now that will make or break the PVP scene of this game.

I use it to save people that are being stomped, 1200 range is pretty sweet. Would be nice if it followed targets though.
Staff 2 is an aoe blind gall, another saviour on a short cooldown, try using it together with other blinds to mitigate.
I know but meh, cast time wise, it’s not worth it for me. As for PVP uses of 2 and 3, I give you that. But in PVE, I’d rather DPS with auto. Both skills are a bit unreliable for their respective purposes, CDs, and cast times, are very lackluster compared to other attunements skills and do not mesh well with other skills in the Staff arsenal unlike other ele weapon sets. Some changes to these skills are badly needed

The problem lies with events scaling based on number of players participating. It’s fun with a small group, yeah, but a zerg can drain boss’ HP in a minute or two without even realizing what the event’s mechanics were.

If i was a good player and I avoided an incoming attack WAAAAY before it lands on me and see the “Evaded!” text pop out, you will see the difference.
The daily achievement counts only on a successful dodge that TRIGGERED an evade, which is good in some cases but this type of scenario will not always work out with all professions and all types of playstyles like what the OP is trying to say. It requires you to do a certain task during trivializing moments which lead to players looking for a specific mob that does a specific attack in order to RAKE IN or FARM evades for their dailies in the fastest way possible.
It’s not quite gamebreaking since they play the game the way they want to, so what do I care? But is it good in the long run? Does it promote better gameplay? Does it satisfy the actual purpose of the Daily Achievement being discussed? My answers are: NO.

Some good points here. The dodge daily forces me to dodge, artificially, not to fight in the most effective manner possible. It’s the same with the healer daily, if you are assigned to protect an NPC, it is more efficient in terms of the daily to let him die numerous times so you can revive him. These are examples of brainstorming without a step to evaluate before implementation. The lack of reality-testing is a major missing element in the dev cycle since 11/15.
I agree with you on this. The dev’s intent is there. Their vision or goal or whatever in implementing certain things in the game are good in theory and in paper but there seems to lack execution. One cannot just say that it’s not the devs fault but the players ’ faults because for the system to work in accordance with the intention the devs had in mind and for it to be definitely effective or successful, they should have considered players’ way of thinking and/or behavior to reduce if not eliminate the drawbacks and faults within the system itself. It’s just poorly implemented. Other prominent examples of poorly implemented systems are the Legendary Weapons. Players will ALWAYS go for the most efficient and faster route with the least resistance, be it farming or grinding for hours, exploiting or going around the system itself. They should always consider this and do something about it. I myself have no suggestions so sorry.
And guys, please take some time to read the OP before replying. Most of you don’t actually know what the OP was talking about. He was talking about certain drawbacks or poor implementation of this particular daily achievement and advantages of certain professions with regards to evading. OP was not crying about how to do Daily Dodge as fast as you can. Please, read. -_-

I actually never use that skill. Also number 2. I don’t even know what the name of that skill is. It’s just Air4 for speed buff, Static Field if CC needed, and just spam 1 while in Air using Staff. #2 and #3 air skills need major overhaul IMO. THEY SUCK.

What if when an enemy starts to channel the buff, and you try to channel it yourself, his channel is cancelled and yours will start. Of course he can do the same to you making him start all over again on his channeling while interrupting yours. It will be a never ending cycle unless one is killed or stops trying to channel the buff. At least with this, those invul skills and portal gimmicks can be countered and might even be considered useless while channeling the buff?

The new stats section on the Hero pane does seem to provide more information about your toon but it looks HORRIBLE compared to the original. The font, the indention, the placing of icons and all are a mess – sooo ugly. I know it’s minor and all, but oh god please make it look remotely visually pleasing and more organized.

I just saw my first commander yesterday, just that was pretty cool for me lol. (Still not sure what a commander is but he appeared on my map so I assume he’s a kitten.)
That was not a commander icon. That’s Arenanet’s logo. It’s a dev. I played my very first fractal run with an Anet dev too days after FOTM was first released. He was also playing an Engineer. And i was also able to sPvP with another dev. He was playing Engineer too. And people on the opposing team was like “Kill the dev first!!” They loved stomping him.
Very happy to play with game developers. My fractal run was smooth and fun since the dev gave such nice tips in order to finish each dungeon. Too bad I got no screenshots on those occasions but i’m pretty sure i’ll encounter another dev one of these days.

I’ve never really been a fan of daily tasks honestly.
If it were up to me, dailies would be totally based upon what the player wants to do.
Say you log on, and all you want to do is check out the TP, or maybe you want to go run a couple dungeons, no prob! If that’s not your cup of tea, no worries. You could do some map exploration, level some alts, or play some pvp. Anyone could do any of these and still be credited with daily rewards, and it’s really pretty simple.
Currently, the average daily shouldn’t take more than an hour for even the most casual players. So, instead of making dailies requiring to do x, y, and z…just simply make them time based.
You log in and play for one hour, and do what YOU the player wants to do. Congratulations!! You just earned your daily.

I have nothing against dailies and monthlies per se. It’s just that a non-fractals player has to log in everyday for 3 months to get maxed gear for one character. This is f2p Asian MMO level game design. Of course it’s possible that ANet has further updates for ascended item acquisition planned, in which case it’d be nice for them to comment on it or something.
Exactly. It’s either content gating (run fractals) or calendar gating (complete daily and monthly for laurels) in order to get Ascended. It’s good that they another option to obtain Ascended through dailies, but it still feels rather unfair and more forced if you compare the two available means of obtaining Ascened gear currently but it’s a start. I believe improvements on the current Daily/Monthly Achievement system is on its way and we will definitely see additional means of obtaining Ascended. (This is me being too hopeful.) Patience is a virtue so they say.

Elementalist have attunements. We have kits. Those are two comparable and unique mechanics to the two professions. I do not understand how you can justify why you think its okay to penalise engineer in this mechanic and defend elementalist in it.
Well, Conjures are elementalist exclusive but do not have underwater versions, yes? When I said mechanic, i meant attunements for eles, and toolbelts for engineers. Kits of engies, similar to conjures of eles, are UTILITY skills.

And the amazing healing plus high regen/protection uptime is a great benefit for attrition fights which this particular ele spec is quite good at. Balance the class all you want, just don’t destroy it like what you did with Engies.
A lot of healing? The healing is pretty LOW, nearly crap, the difference is that eles have so little hp that even a small healing looks like a lot “oh wow he went from 10% to 90% he healed alot” but people fails to see that was like just a 6k heals.
Now you have guardians, with 20k+ hp, and their heal recoves like 10k.
When I said amazing healing I meant that ele’s don’t actually have to rely on their number 6 heal skill only for a burst heal. Water attunement on d/d, or s/d have 2 skills that heals. Signet of restoration, which I think most d/d eles use, seem minor but when you add that up together with a high regen uptime, it’s amazing. Eles have a LOT of options to heal themselves up.

I’m not sure if it’s listed but whenever I am holding a Conjure Weapon (specifically Frost Bow and Greatsword), and enters mist form (utility skill), the Conjure dissappears from my hand after mist form. Is this intended or a bug?

I feel that this is the case too but I think it’s just the animation that’s missing, but EA on water attune still seems to heal though. Not quite sure. Need more testing. Can anyone confirm?

I find it ridiculous. If fire-attuned elementalists get special underwater fire-based skills, what is so far fetched about the flamethrower being converted into a similar device for underwater usage?

I finished my dailies in under 30minutes or so. I got lucky I had no craft this kitten or kill a couple vets or underwater kills or combo stuff and other lame and somewhat forcing daily tasks. Just the revive, dodge, kill variety, event, and gatherer.
I hope they just give us a complete list of ALL possible daily quests, then from there, you get to choose to finish 5 of them and you’re set. As of now, this new dailies system make me pray to the six gods to spare me those crazy new daily tasks they’ve added and give me easy ones.
