later. It doesn’t care that I’m there.”

EA on earth does 1 stack of bleeding plus cripple. Not 8 stacks.
The major flavor why EA is good is not for damage but for the varying utility depending on which attunement you dodge into especially for the blast finisher on earth EA which is quite useful for self-comboing since eles produce a lot of fields especially when using staff. And also the EA in water which heals quite a lot and is recently nerfed in PVP but unchanged in PVE.
And yes, as TheGuy has stated (or seemed to state) the attunement recharge reduction is really really good since ele is quite more effective in frequent attunement switching (attunement dancing) rather than sticking only with one attunement. Maybe it’s playstyle but from my experience, faster attunement CDs is a very good thing for an ele.
(edited by Gallrvaghn.4921)
The community agrees with you but is sick and tired of pleading for noticeable improvement on focus and other weapon sets of the ele aside from d/d we all stopped asking for it.
But hey, they did make “some” improvements on the focus skills on the last patch and guess what? It still isn’t used outside of treb blocking in WvW. It’s THAT BAD.
(edited by Gallrvaghn.4921)
What about Arcane Shield. Does it trigger the effects of Elemental Surge?
Nope.
The map have some serious bugs like one time I couldn’t swap weapon the entire match AT ALL. Dunno how this happened and I fail to duplicate the bug. It needs polishing, yes.
That’s not a map bug, that’s a game bug that happens for under some absolutely bewildering conditions. You can fix it by opening the hero menu, and hitting the swap button on the screen.
Unless you got some really strange bug that doesn’t even let you do that.
It doesn’t let me do that either. The swap icon is all grayed out whether in skill UI or Hero Panel. But oh well, hope it doesn’t happen to me again next time. Luckily I happen to experience that weird bug just once since I played. Or mayber because I played too much of my ele that’s why I don’t encounter it often. XD
But we’re slightly off topic. Spirit Watch is a fun map!
Should happen shortly.
Nuuuuuuu! I wantz Spirit Watch in 2-team tourney!
The map have some serious bugs like one time I couldn’t swap weapon the entire match AT ALL. Dunno how this happened and I fail to duplicate the bug. It needs polishing, yes.
And about class utility issues: RTL with orb, I believe this map has potential of bringing new builds and strategies, gamelay wise compared to the older maps because of the CTF theme to it. I’m not saying nothing needs to be fixed or changed though. But oh so many possibilities! I can see my necro shine! Spectral Grasp and Fear on bridges FTW! It’s the best map so far IMO.
My 2 cents on AC p3… BUUUUUULLLLLSSSSHHIIIIIIT!
How are you suppose to win now that the boss rocks the entire room and the kitten npc never uses his shield? You CAN NOT interrupt him as stated before.
You can interrupt him. Problem is, when you do interrupt him, he gets 5 stacks of defiant (immune to CC). You have to remove those stacks first in order to successfully interrupt him. It needs a crapload of coordination and timing with your team in order to successfully perma CC his rock-wailing-the-sky-is-falling skill.
A random pug not talking to one another will eat and shizt bricks and rocks.
You complainin about abilities that remove a bajillion stacks of bleeds and poison are OP?
Can I also complain that the ability of certain specs to apply bajillion stack of bleeds and poison in a matter of seconds is OP hence making it sort of mandatory to bring some sort of condition removal or else you’re toast even if your enemy has left you far off after applying those ungodly stacks on you and you can’t do nuts about them, you just gon have to wait for yourself to die a horrible horrible death?
And mesmurs dun have a thingamajig that converts conditions to boons. They have Null Field which removes boons from enemies and removes conditions from allies with a 45 second CD. Necros have the skill you’re talking about. And it’s on a freakin 60 second cooldown.
Seriously dude -_-
(edited by Gallrvaghn.4921)
As others have posted, we seem to disagree with the OP’s opinion on the fluidity of GW2 combat. It’s awesome!
But he has other valid points.
For Staff Ele, Elemental Surge + Arcane Power combo examples:
1. Arcane Power -> Fire Attunement with Sunspot trait = Sunspot with burning.
2. Arcane Power -> Air Attunement with Electric Discharge trait = Electric Discharge with blind.
3. Eruption (E1) -> Fire Attunement -> Arcane Power (before the blast) = Eruption blast with burning. If you have Sunspot trait, this will not trigger Sunspot to burn or use Arcane Power charge.
4. Eruption (E1) -> Arcane Power -> Fire Attunement (before the blast) = Eruption blast with burning. If you have Sunspot trait, this will cause Sunspot to burn.
5. Lava Font (F2) -> Earth Attunement -> Arcane Power = Lava Font with immobilize.
6. Water Attunement -> Arcane Power -> Signet of Air = AE blind + AE Chill.
7. Earth Attunement -> Glyph of Storm -> Fire Attunement -> Arcane Power = AE bleed + burn.
8. Eruption (E1) -> Ice Spike (W2) -> Fire Attunement -> Arcane Power = Eruption blast + Ice Spike with 2x burning.
Interesting. Problem is that Arcane Power has a fairly loong CD
I also think that most if not all Sigils and Runes have to be reworked. Too much RNG going on and too much reliance on crit chance as you have stated thus limiting choices for those builds not specced to precison/critical chance.
Traits and traitlines are a good way of providing choices to the players and at the same time having these choices in check and thus easier to tweak (nerfed/buffed) if needed be. However, certain traitlines and specific traits for each class have to be seriously looked at and realize the reasons as to why there is so little to no build diversity within each class (read: ele and thief). These useless/unused traits need major rework.
If you guys want challenge. Try the new and improved AC dungeon. It’s fun and challenging.
Shadow Behemoth event finally resetting regularly after block bug fix.
Chest loot improved big time post-patch.
Guaranteed rares per chest opened per character per server per day.
People farming the known event to drop it.
Mass influx of said item.
Limiting loot acquisition or loot nerfing is a bad idea.
I’d rather they improve scaling like what they did to certain Cursed Shore events depending on number of players participating. The right reward for the right effort.
Zergs destroy the fun in these events. Make proper scaling difficulty of discourage these zerging farmers.
(edited by Gallrvaghn.4921)
People follow the money.
I pity shadow behemoth. Perhaps other farmed world event bosses too after the boost in chest loots. He dies in like a minute or two, he hardly gets his portals up. Zergs are merciless bunch of gold diggers :O
1. Revision of old maps (especially Foefire and Forest) to make them in line with Temple and the new map Spirit Watch which promotes dynamic comeback, more strategy/build diversity and not relying too much on bunkering nodes/turtling. Will it be possible?
2. Stance on class/build diversity. Possibility of buffing least used/unused specs/traits/weapon sets/utilities for every class? Specific classes/specs in mind or in the works for the next patch?
3. More frequent map rotation on 2-team tourney a possibility? If so, how? When?
People will ragequit if they do this.
This is the reason why I don’t do hotjoins anymore. Ever.
I’m now a full-time tPVP player.
You might want to try to sign up for the 2-team tourney. The rounds start up almost immediately save the 2-3minute waiting period. And even if you’re expected to get stomped by a full premade with your pug team if you queued solo, it’s still very fun, sarcasm aside. Try it.
Before I was ele 0/10/0/30/30 valk or soldiers depending on what’s needed.
After patch, I was mesmur
Yep.
Now fix the scaling of these gerdarmit events so that dragons and other farmed/zerged world event bosses don’t die in less that three minutes without even attempting at playing the event’s mechanics.
And fix the lag-spikes.
Nobody runs AC now. Everyone else is either farming dragons in open world for easy Rares or grinding COF over and over and over.
Yes, the revamped AC is FUN AND CHALLENGING. But is it worth it now compared to other money making activities? Do people actually like it now? Can a party of all level 35 players can accomplish all paths without ragequitting?
I seriously loved doing AC dungeons and I am not complaining about how super hard or difficult it is now. As others have said, it’s challenging but still doable that needs a LOT of coordination. A random pug with some lowbies or beginners will get owned by that stupid Spider Queen’s bajillion AOEs that mean instant death on anyone standing in the wrong spot at the wrong time.
I’ve done the new AC a few times now, but as time passes, less and less people are now attempting to group up to run AC and it’s really hard to pick up a group which does not gearcheck or require you to be level 80 in order to join them. Heck, the entrance to AC which was once teeming with players looking for a group is now a wasteland like the rest of Plains of Ashford surrounded with ghosts. Go see for yourself.
The devs intention on revamping AC is nice, but the outcome as what everyone else is seeing/experiencing is showing otherwise.
Please do something about it before the rest of us finally give up and join the bandwagon of COF farmers. Oh wait, I’m sensing you’re going to make that dungeon FUN AND CHALLENGING too in the future patches. Which was supposed to be the more sensible thing to do first rather than upping the difficulty in a level 35 dungeon and destroying the chance for new dungeon crawlers to experience their first dungeon.

D/D Lightning 1 never lands anyway…it needs better range before dmg.
It seems to me that Air #1 has been greatly improved with the latest patch. It hits much more reliable than before in wvw.
Yep, I agree. Hitting inanimate targets are now doable with Air 1. Rejoice!
Yep. In terms of art, this game delivers. Flawless beauty.
Yep, I totally agree.
I’m seeing a lot of Minion Master Necros lots of chills and other CC on minions, and weapon skills, even sigil procs. And I’m quite surprised that they’re quite effective at stopping orb runners.
So excited for other builds to emerge because of this new map.
Vial of Powerful Blood – 29s. How is it the best way to make money?
Count in the occasional exotic, the other stuff in the chest + drops from event mobs, the reliability of always getting a rare and the amount of players farming. The low level bosses go down in less than a minute.
Then the scaling for these low level should be improved. It’s a good thing people now visit low level maps for these events. If they nerf the drops again, we will be just back to square 1 – not worth it rewards from open world events. If these events were done by 5-10 players, the reward vs effort in finishing these events are just fine. But if the events are being done by 20+, 30+ players, the zerg just detroys all the fun and challenge in ANY event. Bosses HP will drop down in less than 5 minutes without even attempting to play with the event’s mechanics. There lies the problem. These events should have some sort of built in anti-zerg mechanic with regards to scaling. The problem is the scaling does not work properly for massive amount of players. They should focus more on that.
I’m pretty sure Anet will find the right balance between loot and difficulty scaling with these open world events.
Well I sure can’t buy either because I’m fantasy poor.
Make that two fantasy poor.
A huge btw here for people.
Large rewards for 0 effort, will eventually force the market into inflation. And people will complain about things being too expensive.
How so? As far as I know, ectos are now becoming cheaper and cheaper.
People will always go for the easiest route. No doubt about that. Is it bad that they improved the chest loots? No. Is it bad that world events now have people participating due to the 1 chest limit per character per day with a big chance for rares? No.
The problem however is that these events do not feel very dynamic at all because as others pointed out, it’s too easy. Why is it too easy? Because zergs make DE mechanics entirely pointless either by awful design wherein these mechanics are easily bypassed by mere standing in a “safe” spot autoattacking or other cheesy gimmicky tricks or the scaling for these world events is so poor.
There is no need to nerf the loot drops again just because you people complain that the rewards are too much for such easy peasy events. Rather solve the glaring issues at hand:
1) If these events have been “improved” mechanics and scaling wise, the loots in the chest at the end of the event will be worth it.
2) If these events have no kittening FIXED TIMERS, massive influx of people when the event is up will get reduced. It will not be entirely avoided since you cannot prevent people from AFKing as long as they want regardless of fixed or random timers for these events to pop up. But then again, they shall lose some due to the uncertainty of the events reoccurring, no? Also, it feels more DYNAMIC when you ain’t expecting these events to pop out. Heck, they might even mix things up a bit by doing away with some of the pre-events or providing other pre-events that lead to these popular world events. Like, in one time “the Shatterer just attacked a nearby village!” then in another, he’s being hunted down by the Vigil or some sort.
TLDR: Improve the encounters with zergs in mind. Nerfing loot tables again is not the solution. It will cause people to qq more and ragequit.
On the other hand, ecto prices are now plummeting. Good
(edited by Gallrvaghn.4921)
“Challenging” translates from ANetese into English as “Spam CC and conditions”
This.
If only they made such CC and conditions of mobs telegraphic and a bit slower like Ogres and Veteran Mosshearts thus providing a bit of defensive reaction time or something, I think things won’t be as bad as it is.
What’s weird is that this is basically what was been complained about Orr before they toned down all the pulls and knockbacks on Risen. And now they go on and start putting the same crap on lower level mobs in open world and dungeons. -_-
(edited by Gallrvaghn.4921)
Chillax. Give it a few more years and they will prolly get things straight. Slow and steady, baby.
Is this the case? Noone knows, maybe Anet can shed some light.
Nuuuuu! You can haz no lights! Ratings izz invisible, no? Ha!
Wow, please don’t ruin the only fun and somewhat useful elite eles have. >_<
Designing the competitive side of the game for hardcore teams only just creates a small elitist community that slowly dies off since they won’t play with anybody they don’t know thus hardly anyone can learn the game.
I’m starting to think that this is always what they had in mind.
Soloers/casuals need the proper training ground first for improvement and thus having the potential to grow, become pro, and then play in a pre-made well-coordinated team play. We also need reliable means to measure skill/improvement compared to other players, and not how many times we have farmed hotjoins for glory points and silly ranks. We must have the opportunity to view pros playing in actual matches or friends playing competitively in real time in-game, and not relying on twitch or other streaming websites in order to do this.
Leaderboards, Spectator Mode, Custom Arenas and Solo Queue.
Will we be having these features one bit at a time? With the implementation of a ranking system in the beta-stage 6 months after release, should we expect these features in the first quarter of this year? End of this year? Three years from now? The game needs these features ASAP. I doubt anyone disagrees on this.
I got one: Expect nerfs. Lots of it.
I don’t understand why they can’t just let us choose from all the dailies. Why is it still randomized? I thought we were supposed to be able to choose whatever we want, but it’s still limited and randomized daily, even if there are more than 5 to choose from now.
To spice things up a bit, I guess. Yea, you can spice things up by choosing different dailies from a fixed list of choices too but personally, I like the idea of having to guess what’s on the menu for today rather than knowing the exact same menu everyday and choosing what you prefer to do every single day from that fixed list.
Second most important thing why it failed, its because system. They probably thought game will be huge and separated it into 3 categories: spvp (totally useless), tpvp and paids (this one was biggest turnoff for me). Instead they should strongly unite this already small group of players that love game. Also why is ladder important? Casuals such as myself don’t intend going to pros, but in this game I don’t even know who is pro. Where can I check rank? Where can I check games of these players? There should be huge button like half of screen when u press mist panel that says RANKING. There should be some sort of notification when highest ranks play so I can watch. When I click on tournament npc there should be huge button that says CLICK HERE TO JOIN. Instead there were 2 mini buttons on bottom of screen that said create roster, I honestly thought I needed full team just to play tourny for 3 months. System and everything need to be polished. There have to be tournaments that mean something. There have to be some sort of ranking… reason for players to play. Overall balance is bad but this is least problem now. Even if spvp go free, all hype of game is out, how are you planning to lure casuals to this game? I don’t know answer to this, but I wish you guys pull it out cause honestly I would love to watch this game, and I love playing it.
I strongly agree mostly on this second point of yours. The mists has never been newbie friendly right from the start. Requiring to talk to the right NPC in order to join either hotjoin pvp or tournaments, add to that a very messy clunky window for the tournament queuq which I haven’t fully understood until 2 months later or so, just pushed me away from joining tourneys the first few times I tried doing PVP. And yes, the button that says “Create Roster” will definitely make people especially newbs to think that a full team is required to join tourneys. I didnt know that I could que in solo for tourney until I read it somewhere in these forums. Good thing they added the “Que Solo” button but its really really small at the lower left corner of the tourney window. This current tourney panel needs a MAJOR OVERHAUL. Make it newb/casual friendly.
And yes, for the love of god, Spectator Mode and Leaderboards! These two features should be in by now.
(edited by Gallrvaghn.4921)
Yep, awesome new map, same old class builds.
Leaderboards pl0x
The door blocking access to the cabbage farm in Harathi Hinterlands should no longer block access when opened.
When I first encountered this place, I really thought I needed to find a key or hidden switch to get pass the invisible wall blocking this mysterious room full of mouthwatering cabbages. Thank god it was just a bug.
I can now farm more cabbages. I am so happy
I’m surprised I’m not getting any support from players.
I guess there are so many hot-join heroes they don’t like the idea of shutting it down.
People quit after this disheartening and disappointing patch. The devs listen. Just not instantly.
But yeah, they might give in and finally implement a separate solo queue/premade queue. Based on how they finally scrapped tourney tickets (thank god) and how “fast” they test and implement stuff, I’d say give them 6 more months to do this.
Because they love inflation.
I can deal as long as all the other classes can shut up with the “OP FOTM” when i kick their kittens.
With the list of nerfs targetted for 0/10/0/30/30 d/d spec, I think the bandwagoners will subside.
But people still qq on eles being OP in the new PVP map. Haven’t tried playing there yet. But oh well.
OP is desperately searching for ways to justify to himself that all the hours he’s invested/wasted getting good at a game no one cares about might pay off in some way.
It might eventually payoff. With the pacing we are currently having for updates and balance/bug fixes, the game will be E-sports viable 3 years from now. One step at a time. A fairly long time.
I read it was 3 in the patch notes. o__O
People do give good, sensible suggestions for the good of the game.
Anet devs do listen to them.
However, they implement them baby steps at a time.
So we’re prolly gonna get the PVP environment we want with all the necessary features it needs to thrive in maybe 3 or 5 years from now based on how Anet tests and implements these stuff.
Be patient.
I think the transparency, or a clear lack thereof, of this DEV team along with the hollow promises and the “just wait and see what we have in store” statements make me feel duped, not because I believed them, but the fact that I was so adamant before the game launched that THIS company would never do these things.
I’m glad I realized this after the November patch.
Seems like Renewed Stamina has an internal coldown of 5s. So critical-eles should no longer stack vigor this way.
Nice find. Will test this one out too later.
Another possible ninja nerf, and the crowd is still screaming “NOT ENOUGH” in other threads. Just delete the elementalist class, will ya? Sheesh
How can you claim “the crowd still screaming not enough” when most of them were not aware of these recent ninja changes? Were you the guy quoting me due to my “Ele hatred”?. We have some serious case of nerphobia here.
Well I’m sorry you were unaware of the ninja nerfs. That’s not my fault now, is it? Anyway, they are updating the patch notes now.

^Is not as much of a nerf at all. Frost Aura still serves as en extremely good peeling skill and in spite of not stacking ridiculous chill, chill is still useful as it’s very effective in small durations, the 10% damage reduction was uncalled for, and with aura share is too much.
Shocking aura internal CD is after the stun ends or when it begins, if it’s the later, not much of a change at all, if it’s the first, not much of a change at all either since most of the time, with it’s duration you stuned yourself 2 times anyway.
Also, the only aura that still provided 10s of fury and swiftness was Shocking Aura, the other auras gave less, but still stacks in duration with Elemental attunement, and with attunement switching providing fury too, is a minor nerf at best. They still have perma boons of everything mid battle which is what matters, and even more important, they are not losing their constant reaplication making boon removal skills trivial. All those changes don’t do much at all in practice.
Your hatred towards eles is commendable.
Frost Aura has 40 SECONDS CD. Chillax a little.
All those changes have major impact on d/d eles. Dear god, these nerfs are not enough for you? Seriously??
