I already have 1 level 80 character (Human Elementalist). I have to say, it took me about 125 hours to get to level 80 (Yes, I take my time playing and not rushing like hell), and in those 125 hours, I enjoyed literally everything about the game. Although saying everything is an understatement. That’s because I haven’t done everything yet. In fact, I only finish 42 % of the map
And I still have lots of unexplored territories and regions to cover. I still have dungeons to finish, gear to make, and all the like.
While it may sound grind-y and very repetitive.. it’s not, it’s because there is always something new in this game. Each day, I can always expect something outrageous, funny, epic or just awesome!
In short, the game’s end game (Which is the entire game) is pure awesome!
P.S. The story is actually very good (In my opinion), I like the characters(Yes, even Trahearne, he only seems boring because of his scholarly attitude), the way it was presented, the music, and the choices!

Anyways, what I want to tell you is that this game is just great. It may have a few issues with it but I learned how to curb my expectations from it. In other words, you can say I am just optimistic about the game.
One of the problems you have to deal with in the forums is that some people tend to consider you to be wrong if your opinion is not in line with theirs.

This has been suggested many many times now. I’m pretty sure this will get some attention after they polish some more important things. Many PVP-only players wanted this feature implemented. – a function to toggle PVE gear, PVP gear, heck even Town Clothes in the Character Selection Window.

I love this idea. Actually, I believe the game has a lot to offer in terms of end game content. Dungeons, WvW, JPs, exploration, etc. The problem is that the distribution of rewards and/or incentives for each category of activity in the game need a major overhaul. And this one idea can actually give purpose to JPs if they never want to up the chest reward to become worth it at the end of a JP or any in-game activity. Scoreboards where players see who’s on top and who’s the best at this or that will definitely add a lot more meaning to every single activity you enjoy playing be it PVP, dungeon, WvW, or Jumping Puzzles. Players love to brag. They will do anything to improve their e-pins. Heck, even the upcoming Guild Missions can do with scoreboards so that guilds can prove who’s the best of the best outside of WvW. Popularity, pride, e-pin, purpose.

I, for one, am happy with the removal or rez-rushing. It encourages proper coordination with your team and map awareness. If the dungeon becomes tedious because of the removal of rez-rushing, maybe you need to up your game a bit.
As for the dungeons revamp promised, I’m sure Anet is taking their time not to drop the ball on this one. They didn’t exactly say that the revamp will come out on March though, rather part of their 2013 plan of moving the game forward. I’m expecting these changes to hit by the end of the second quarter, if not later.
For the class balance issues, the upcoming Feb26 patch will be the expected big changes to every class. My hopes are not that high with this one though. I’d rather see a long list of bug fixes to skill and traits first in the patch notes. The tweaks on numbers can come much later.

What Elite do you have? Do you remember to use it? I’ve fought a few eles recently that used no elite at all. My elite is the Fiery GreatSword of great justice. Lighting flash with this baby will rock your world (if you have some nice might stacked up, or have zerkers like me). You want to use FGS 3 then teleport back to where you started as you pass your foe. This takes a lot of practice as your character and camera move quite quickly. But if you pull this off you will hit for 2x more damage with the whirl. If you deciede to take the Elemental Elite don’t forget to use it.Thanks for this tip. I never liked the fiery greatsword before, but now I rather enjoy it. Finally have an elite I want to use.

You don’t need a gaming mouse to be competitive. But yeah, the default keybind is horrifyingly awful for the tons of skills and utilities you need to press. That is a fact.
Just find the right keybind setting for your left hand. I personally would suggest moving the movement keys to WERD instead of WASD. And then work around your utility skills around those keys for easy access. Weapon skills I set to the default 1-5 keys.

From looking at the video the map seems to have a lot of corners and stairs sets, so who knows how good RTL will really be.
I’ve stated this before but some people just can’t get enough of RTL bashing. It’s not like you can actually RTL away anywhere anytime. One wrong move, a stone in the way, a slightly uneven terrain, a cliff, a staircase, all of which seems to be heavily abundant in the map preview and you’re basically a sitting ball of flashy VULNERABLE light for 3 seconds or just RTL into your death.
There must be a logical reason behind allowing RTL to be usable when carrying the orb. Can we not wait until the map goes live before we go cry OP?

Unless eles use them to whack enemies with magical elemental powders in a highly unconventional and flashy way, I really find it lame and boring seeing the same exact pew-pews coming out of pistols and bows. I think it’s not right to say that DEs are too easy when some of them never really Fails even if players don’t intervene. I think it’s more likely a flaw or a bug in the mechanics of the DE itself and not the difficulty. I believe a some events need some tweaking on the mechanics of the events itself in order to create a more dynamic feel to it, i.e. the possibility of failing if certain goals are not achieved or if there are no players participating in it. But the difficulty should however properly scale in order to cater, say 1 person trying to succeed in the Dynamic Event or a zerg spamming auto attacks and AOE in a particular DE. So basically the OP technically is pointing out a flaw in the DE itself which I think does not necessarily affect difficulty of the said DE, per se. Bug fixes to DEs like this and proper scaling of DEs based on the number of players participating should be looked at.

If (apparently according to ANet) kit-backpacks are here to stay, at least give us some racial variety. This would also apply to our turrets.
Imagine an Asura with a medical kit that actually looks like it was engineered by an Asura. Or a Charr with a metal container and sharp edges. Or a Sylvari that uses a gourd to carry around her items.
Same with the turrets basically. We see a lot of Asuran turrets everywhere, but when an Asura Engineer puts down their turrets; they look like some pretty generic human turrets.
Diversity is key. And whilst I do mind when my T3 Cultural Asura is forced to run around with a leather backpack that was clearly made by a human, or a flamethrower that looks like it was made by Charr; I would be a lot more forgiving if he was carrying some form of symmetrical contraption with glowing crystals on his back that would scream ‘Asura Tech!’.

Maybe terrain would be a major issue that’s why RTL will still be allowed. With all the verticality, closed spaces, left turns right turns and all those shizz just to caryy the orb to an altar, I don’t think RTL would really be an advantage. I would worry more with skills that grant Invulnerability rather than RTL. But we’ll see.
Oh and I don’t know if this was answered somewhere though. If someone drops or loses the orb, does it reset back to its original location at the center of the map or can someone else actually steal it like some loot lying on the ground? XD

Sorry, matchmaking can’t fix that. If anything, over a period of time, matchmaking will help it tremendously because new players will stick around instead of leaving.
I think I agree. We shouldn’t be blaming the system. It’s not the matchmaking system’s fault if there are just a handful of good teams getting matched up with each other over and over. It’s because of a very low PVP population that even tries queuing for tourneys which is caused by the lack of direction and incentives to new players to try out the tournament system. Heart of the Mists right now is not very newb friendly.

Not to take away from the issue at hand because I do think it’s a valid issue to be talked about, but you can solo queue free tournaments and get into 5v5 fights as well without spending tickets. You should of course, be able to do hotjoin 5v5 if you so wish without this much hassle though.

When I first played GW2, I used it a lot but now I don’t. Based on experience, fast-cast ground targeting AOE really does have an impact on precision especially in uneven terrain. I find it harder to practice fast-cast targeting personally. But the time it takes to manually target AOE gets significantly reduced with practice though. It’s much easier after some time.

I also think it all practically comes down to builds countering builds. This is how a balanced game should work. And yea, most QQs on certain specs of certain classes as being OP don’t even think that maybe their build is getting owned by that specific build because it is a counter to their builds and maybe coming up with a counter build to that build that beat them might be the solution to their QQ.
But sadly, somes build meant to counter the currently dominating builds of some classes still needs improvement IMHO for them to become competitive. And it is definitely better if each class have multiple EFFECTIVE viable builds available to them.

With that said, I love playing sPVP hotjoins. I don’t like 8v8. I like 5v5. So I always enter the 5v5 rooms in hotjoin. I am aware that some rooms become duel servers wherein players do not play the conquest mode but just fight 1v1 with other players of the opposing team until the timer of that particular match runs out. When I see that no point is capped and people are chatting in the map, I leave and move on to the next room since I know it’s a duel map. I get it.
But when you enter 5 different rooms with people dueling in all of them can really kitten someone off sometimes.
Please don’t tell me to join tourney’s instead. I don’t want to waste my tickets. I just want to have fun playing conquest mode the way it should be played in hotjoins. Am I not allowed to do that now? :/
So I just want to let this out. And hopeful the upcoming custom arenas (I don’t know if that’s gonna come in on the next patch though) should do something about this or JUST IMPLEMENT DUELS SO THAT EVERYBODY IS HAPPY!!

Wait, what? Please show me how to do that with a scepter. As far as I know, scepter can only inflict 5 stacks of confusion every 18 seconds (15 seconds cooldown + 3 seconds casttime); provided that the target doesn’t get the idea to just dodge or interrupt your cast. I mean, you are probably refering to the trident like it was before the patch (I guess), but then you say “also scepters” and continue talking in plural. So again… how would you possibly do that with a scepter? If it would be possible, I’d actually use one, cause then it wouldn’t be completely useless anymore. ^^
Back in beta, the scepter granted one stack of confusion on chain 3 as it created a clone. I would prefer they got rid of the clone and just gave us confusion even if it was only on the third attack like the clone is now. If you go to the wiki it still shows the scepter description as it was in beta.

not asmodal, but I use it, so I’ll tell ya how. I run s/d, drop dragon’s tooth, ring of fire, phoenix, swap to earth and hit Arcane Power – Dodge Roll Back for CE (1), Earthquake (2), CE (3), Arcane Wave (4), swap to air, and lightning bolt (5). That’s 5 guaranteed crits in the middle of my might stacking chain for 18 aoe might.The one on Arcane Wave is wasted because it crits anyway. My other option would be to try and drop it after ring of fire but before phoenix, so it crits on phoenix. I’m going to start working on that timing
If I were running d/d, I’d use it before Burning Speed (1), Ring of Fire (2), swap to earth, dodge roll back for CE (3), Earthquake (4) and CE (5). 12 Stacks of AoE might and 5 guaranteed crits on each.
Those skills are multiple hits like Burning Speed and Phoenix. Arcane Power charges are consumed per hit made and not per skill I think so it will be long gone even before you swap to Earth most of the time.

I can manage with Staff when fighting other classes 1v1 except thieves. I prefer to own thieves using D/D.
But staff is a great support weapon in group fights or 2v2 scenarios. Actually, the best support weapon for eles.

Precursors should have been account bound, obtainable from a long line of epic quests, and not solely based on loot or mystic toilet RNG and how much money you make from flipping items in the TP.

I don’t think the quality of loot is dictated by being in a group or playing solo. He means more if you read his post again though.
I am not aware of the the ruling of getting credit for kills of your party mates when you are in a party though. If that is the case, then it is really generally better to party up especially when you are in a zerg since the chances of tagging mobs or enemy players in WvW is higher while in a party.

Think about this for a minute.
If you were locked out of doing the event for a week at a time, I could see them upping the drop rates on rares and exotics, but with the event resetting every couple hours it really doesn’t make sense.
There are lots of meta events with big chests – there are ~170 dragon events alone each week. If they all dropped rares and exotics for everyone we’d be vendoring them the way we do blues and greens now.
Maybe what we should be asking for is an event with a reaaaally long reset timer that drops better loot

They can’t just make every chest spat out Rares and Exotics. There’s too much of them going on with a short and FIXED reset timer. Either they up the rewards BUT do something about how big world event chains reset or apply some sort of DR for every chest opened per day or per a certain time period OR they can even make these events more CHALLENGING and not predictable. And when I say challenging, I don’t mean a zerg which can totally ignore and make the mechanics of the boss fights obsolete and just spam auto attack on the target while watching the Grammy Awards.
I want an actual dragon fight. I don’t want just an eyecandy dragon that stands there waiting for me to shine up his shoes. Some sort of time limit in the event itself wherein if you fail to slay the dragon or prevent a dragon’s objectives, the Event actually FAILS. A much more engaging combat for a massive ZERG and not an event which only dynamically scale for 10 or 15 players.
Do you really think those dragon event’s wherein you pedicure the dragon’s foot for 5 to 10 minutes every 2 hours or so is worth an exotic gear? Seriously.. -_-

This would have been a better solution I think rather than completely removing Confusion on scepters and changing confusion on Tridents and making it Bleeds. Like, say, 33% slower than Staff auto and causing 1 stack of 1 or 2 second Confusion. I’m sure they can do better.
